Charithra Chandran (who played Edwina) said in an interview that Edwina couldn't recognize the whole Kanthony situation because you can only recognize something if it is inside your view of the world. An attraction between her sister and her fiancee wasn't something that could happen in her world so she was unable to recognize it. That view changed ;-)

The unique thing about this enemies to lovers is that they are visibly smitten from the beginning although also competitive. So when Kate overheard him talking, she was so disappointed that this man she was initially drawn to had such a cold approach to love. It wasn't shown here but before she overheard him at the ball she was making googly eyes at him, so she did like him.

That’s actually what happens in the book. Anthony and Kate get caught together after the bee sting and he’s socially pressured to marry her. Edwina is like “oh that’s chill, he’s clearly been into you the whole time anyway lol”, and Anthony is like “i guess we gotta get married but I WILL NOT fall in love with you because ew love” and Kate is like “whatever, I won’t fall in love with you either, I can’t believe I gotta marry you, goddamnit” and then fall in love. It’s VERY similar to Daphne and Simon’s story line, like waaaaay too similar honestly. I’m glad they changed it up for the show.

I cry everytime. He’d been holding in so many repressed emotions for YEARS. At nineteen years old he had to become surrogate father, surrogate husband, head of household-all while not being able to grieve his father because he had to take care of his siblings since Violet had checked out emotionally. Violet saying she wished baby Hyacinth had killed her so she could be with Edmund had to be hard for Anthony to hear. Imagine both your mother and father dying tragically within days of each other.

they have done this trope justice. I think after pride and prejudice i have rarely seen this trope done well. And I love how their misunderstandings and stances on what they want defines their enemity, while their physical attraction and natural character bonding defines their suitability to each other.
These two have the most magical on-screen chemistry - it's electrifying! I can't help but swoon every time they're together on screen. Simone Ashley embodies elegance, great beauty, and exceptional acting ability. She'd make a perfect Cat Woman. And of course, she would make an excellent Queen Nefertiti! So excited for what's to come for her.

For the scene where edwina is trying to get Kate to go hunting with the boys. I think Anthony believed that qKate could manage, he just doesn’t want to go with her because of the T E N S I O N
Actually I think it was totally opposite. He saw that kate was silent being good girl and all, not bantering with him or saying anything after that bee incident so when Edwina said kate is an excellent shooter ....he said "ofcourse she is " sarcastically ....and kate didn't say anything just quietly gave him a "go to hell" look. When Edwina insisted kate that tell him about your hunting experience and kate was again silent because she was avoiding him .....so anthony started making fun of her with Edwina saying your sister may manage and all ....that was when kate snapped and said " you think it's not true? " ....
Basically during that scene he was baiting her to say something after bee incident because she was ignoring him and was also ignoring that bee situation. Anthony was the one who brought up BOSOM thing ....again because he was not liking the fact that kate didn't gave any importance to that encounter . He felt desire for her but it was killing him that she's not feeling the same thing. It went like this all through 4th episode. She was avoiding him(during the dance too she was focused on Edwina avoiding what anthony wanted to hear but anthony was focused on what she wants) ....until he snapped in the library that leads to panic attack that made him proposed Edwina 😂😂

I think despite Anthony saying he wanted to marry edwina, his siblings shipped him with Kate. Kate clearly fit in perfectly during the game and Colin hit the ball towards where she sent Anthony’s basically making them go off together and alone to retrieve them. Benedict clearly sees the chemistry in their banter during this scene. Also Daphne knows and the mom knows and I’m sure they ship as well. When fencing with his brothers he was also mentioning how Kate always likes to be right in everything and Benedict teased him about how he is exactly the same basically so I’m sure the brothers saw since the beginning that him and Kate have much in common and would make an ideal match.
I would like to add these two were love at first sight up until kate overhears anthony listing attributes for a wife so coldly, she kept seeking him out at the ball and follows him onto the balcony for her interest too and he was obviously all flirty and then they start bickering

@@jcpark1125 Kate suffers from panic attacks with thunderstorms, like really bad panic attacks, because thunderstorms reminds her of the night when her mother died. In the book, during the library scene, Anthony finds her and comforts her until she can control her panic attack, it's the first time that you could really see how much he cares about her, it is actually the first time he calls her Kate and not Miss Sheffield, which is the original name in the book
@@teredeltoro8080 I mean I guess seeing as they changed her origin to India it would be unrealistic for her to have debilitating panic attacks due to thunderstorms because of the way the monsoon season is set up

Yk in the books, they are far different from their portrayal on the show. In the books, Kate is snippy and annoying (in a likeable way) but she is also like a child and sort of scared of Anthony who is bulkier and has a body of an athlete. He is very dark, very seductive and very confident on the way he woos women, not just Kate. He has a playboy aura but not in a party frat boy sort of way, but at the same time, he is also a gentleman because he saved Penelope from getting bullied by Cressida Cowper and offered her a dance to make her feel better.
However he was also an ass to Kate at least two times, like, full on ass (when Newton accidentally throws Edwina into the serpentine, and when Kate accidentally ends up under his desk), so I kinda like their show portrayals more?
@@LuneP ikr he such a walking red flag and i kinda hate kate's insecurity in the books, but there are a lot of sweet scenes such as library scene and how they love grows that netfix didn't show it on their series so yeah lil bit dissapointed but still great
@@dizaalifia6063 I actually do like Kate's insecurity, it doesn't fit with her show portrayal ofc, but I did see myself on that aspect of her book portrayal and I think it makes sense. But yes, I agree with your other statement, the book does have it's sweet scenes, and things I like more than in the show, I think neither is perfect, I like things from both of them

@@LuneP I do agree though...Anthony in the books was very patriarchal and had a lot of red flags. But the serpentine scene was justified because his buttons were pushed beyond limit by kate 😂 and the desk thing where he had to 'scare her' wasnt good but then he started kissing her so I was like ok. But the conversation that followed was a HUUUUUGEE red flag. I was sooooo angry at him while I was reading their conversation, him throwing the key at her while she was crying, him telling her he will keep approaching edwina like a smug even after kate saying no to him. Ugh I hated that part. And the fact that he was irritated by her saying that she wants to wait on their wedding night and him saying that it is his 'RIGHT'. I was like what the actual fuck. I do like the show anthony more because he was kind and gentle
did a rewatch recently and im not sure how any other season of bridgerton or any other show for that matter can top this romance like they did incredible jobs

@@genyakostyk I think she said "oh bapre" which is a commonly used bengali phrase. Makes me wonder why a lot of small bengali phrases are used for her and her sister, considering they refer to each other as "bon".
'Oh bapre' essentially means along the lines of 'oh shit' in Bengali ...and yeah true 'Bon' is the equivalent word for sister in Bengali , bon can mean older or younger sister
