I was there with a friend! We came straight from Austria to watch the football championship, two girls approached us as we were leaving central station and asked if we wanted to buy their tickets for £6, as they were having problems with their boyfriends. Damn, we were two happy young guys and that was our very first impression of London, the home of rock music. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.
1973 tour I'd lean more towards as the better performance as that would be more 'The Who' as a live band with all of the original members on the album. Frankly 1985 at Live Aid IMHO was the last time they really sounded like the Who I remembered. Unfortunately the surviving audio quality isn't as good from 1973.
Great video. One of the best live versions of the song I have heard. Roger's in really good voice and the song has that manic, hurtling-toward- disaster feeling that I inagine exists in Jimmy's mind.
I saw this at the Garden in NY. It was probably the best rock concert I ever saw. The whole place was singing and very into it plus The Who sounded great. It was a like a religious experience.
@@Bandit19990 Have to disagree. Entwhistle essentially redesigned how the bass was played for rock. Pete Townshend once said that it would take four people to replace him, and indeed it has. I love Paul, but he can't hold a candle to John.
@@Bandit19990 Hahaha, yah, people believe everything they read, especially if it's on the internet. Abraham Lincoln once posted that "Paul was dead!" Sheesh!

Finally found it! Without a doubt the best live performance of Quadrophenia!
I really enjoyed this tour , but I give the 2011-12 version the nod 👍

How is this album not in every top 3 list ever?
It's one, I'm one...
I went to see this tour in Philly in 96 then Camden in 97. Best concerts I've ever attended.

Now that is bass virtuoso

@@chadbennett7873 Yeh it was a joke. his daughter said he would hate these top bassist polls because he would always come second after Paul.

@@golf4ubacknine768 they are awesome !!! Well done
People were thinner in 1996... I certainly was!
I wish the picture wasn't squeezed.
Was this the one with Gary Glitter and Billy Idol? This was the Chicgo Concert of the Year.
Some songs get eroded by time, other ones just get more polished.
sip.
