Hey yall, if this is for goats, you might want to add a metal disk inside the tire and a nut to hold it in place so the goats wont chew the valve stem off. They will chew on everything. Paint the outside two tone green camo to mimic grass and bushes.
How about a simple wooden disk cut from the scrap plywood and bolted in place?

Given how hot and humid it gets in south Louisiana, paint it white to help reflect the heat. I'd paint it inside too.

Even though we are in Missouri where newborn deer do not have to fear the government we would like to support the effort to put Dasher's Law on the books in Louisiana. Between the time of the first video about Dasher and this one we've had two baby deer born at our homestead, and every time I see them running and playing I think about poor Dasher.

The law shows the state of our country , crime , drugs , corruption, invasion of illegal criminals, they send two cowards out to kill a helpless deer , and they had to call a coward to tell them what to do, just another perspective , the people involved in making a law , several hundred in the killing of a small deer , seems insane to me , deer could be roaming in the forest now if people had just dropped it , and used some common sense ,something missing in our country today

I would paint every outbuilding a different, brilliant color. Imaging looking out the window and seeing blue and red and green and yellow and orange buildings in your fields.

I bought myself a Paslode finishing nail gun years ago. Yes, it was expensive, around $500-ish. But I can say that it's paid for itself many many times over. The fuel is pretty cheap and last for quite a while. If you have the Lithium battery, that little thing will go forever without having to be charged. It's definitely worth the money imho. Although I did have to save up for it. I'm definitely not a "well off" man by any stretch!!

Chances are your gate won't keep the goats in, as is. Time will tell, but goats are good at escaping.

I would suggest a locking nut for the outside of the wheels on that goat house, or atleast double nutting it, save you the headache of the nuts coming lose and them falling off! I/s god bless! have a good weekend!

Sorry to hear about your dasher we have a wonderful place that takes orphan animals here in Wisconsin near Green Bay they took a baby owl from me and I got to watch it let go when it was old enough to fly so cool . I hope you can get the same thing there .

Secondly, the Gus approved goat shelter looks awesome. When you asked about a colour I was thinking bright pink, but the Jim mentioned Depto Pink ??? not sure what that is 😅. I would paint the goat house either the same color as your house or paint it to match the goats or one of the goats. You know,two colors with spots.

Good morning my cajun friends! Jim, your ending message was heartfelt and spot on! I wish all could hear it and actually absorb your words and message - what a difference that could make. The goat shelter turned out great. As for the color Lydia, not knowing how close it will be to other structures and their colors, it could make a difference if you wanted them to be coordinated somehow. If not, I would go either with a very light color, approaching white or tan for heat control - or - a camo theme using a couple of greens and lighter background to match the field grass and treeline. I admire y'all for getting involved and trying to make a difference with Dashers Law. Not only is it doing good work for what you belive in, you will also be setting a great example for Ladly Rue as she observs her parents actions and hears them talking. Kids soak up like sponges and this will be a great example for her to absorb and reflect on as she grows and develops. Love you guys ❤ Have a blessed week. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

It should almost certainly be painted darkish red. Like a little mini-goat-barn. But I will watch for other votes. And if Pepto-Bismol pink gets any significant support, I hereby grant you the permission to choose a more dignified color. Goats surely have some sense of style!
Paint it a lite color due to the heat. That way it hopefully won't be too hot for the goats.

For the life of me, Ill never understand why some people only see the bad in things. Why would someone call you names for wanting to save an innocent creature? My retirement job is in retail at a big box home improvement store and it never ceases to amaze me how some people who come in are just nasty for no reason at all when you are trying to help them. Thank you for doing this for Dasher. I too in another state raised a baby deer with a broken leg. My son brought it home. The fawn was such a blessing, and lived in our house for a couple of weeks. Infection set in on her leg and she passed. But for a couple of weeks, she was as happy as any animal could ever be. I hope you can get some laws changed, and I have no idea how the law reads in my state, but I will be doing some home work on it. Keep doing what you do, and I wish we had more people like you in this country.
An update from my neck of the woods, TN...TWRA will no longer rehabilitate fawns due to CWD (Cronic Wasting Disease).
I’m trying to be positive but I’m already worried about the storm out in the Caribbean, times are tough and I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to evacuate for a hurricane at this time! I guess I’ll pray and hope it doesn’t come our way! Being 64 and on a monthly income really sucks these days! Just a heads up to everyone in our area and the surrounding areas! Made the life-long decision (commitment?) to DeWalt 20/60v Max. Better for the soul than the bank account, but I found a local distributor that also does individual sales darn near at cost. Recently added the framing nailer and am about to rework a section of the wood shed. Hoping it works well because like you, not a fan of dragging the compressor around the property for what will be 20 minutes of work.
Love the positive outlook and better yet, the channeling of all that positivity and love to truly make a change. Nothing but love and support from Texas.
In hindsight (and I don't know if anybody else brought this up), But in a way you still saved Dasher. You saved him from being viciously attacked, mauled and painful tortured and killed by a pack of dogs. Assuming of course, that the powers that be euthanized Dasher humanely and professionally If that's any consolation.

Yes Louisiana weather is so crazy!! I have an above ground pool here in bossier city la but unfortunately neighbor on each side have trees so i get maybe 2 hour direct sun on the pool. My grass is full of weeds I’ve treated twice 2 chemicals and used liquid aeration and then got a plug aerator omg what a joke watered several evenings and the clay just sinks down when you use the tool no core comes out so my long weed puller I think works better is larger hole but it’s st Augustine so I can’t overseed ugh fertilize with milorganite and have some diesel exhaust fluid which is urea and water from Walmart to hit it few times for immediate release nitrogen end of summer even added Epsom salt but oh well I work outside a lot and need a base tan so I’m not burning. I’m enjoying the heat! Love the channel Cajun country you rock! Adding another dry pour soon! one from last summer still amazing used the first method y’all did with 2x4 pic frame method used 3” deck screws already had! Thanks for all yall do. Looking forward to dashers law. They have deer in some local places in my area and in fact on barksdale Air Force base in bossier city they have had deer at the park for years I can recall even when I was 5yr old!

If y'all have a small battery back up with a solar panel or two, could get a couple 12 volt usb powered fans for the inside of the goat house to move some air around. Would certainly paint the outside a light color. From south Louisiana myself, and even worked many years in law enforcement there. I commend the both of you for your efforts to make a change to the law. I had many situations during my law enforcement career where I had to enforce a law that just did not seem right in my heart. However, the Louisiana Revised Statue was cut and dry, in black and white, leaving me no other choice. I'm sure those 2 LDWF Officers felt the same way. One more note on the goat house, may want to figure out how to secure the structure during a tropical storm, since tis the season and there is one brewing in the Atlantic!
I would paint it white out side and a tan inside. Or use white tin and siding. But goats are happy with anything

My only worry is that those wheels aren't large enough to keep it out of marshy grass after heavy rains that y'all get. I'm thinking you may have some paint left over from painting your house. Why not use that same color on the goat/sheep house? Nothing crazy from me, I like symmetry and cohesiveness.
Put some hurricane straps on the goat house. It may rock a bit but guaranteed not to come apart. Plus, straps are pretty cheap. They look like a medieval torture device.
We all think Dasher’s Law is a must.

I really like the light tan color. But whatever color you decide, I hope it's light because of the heat.
I would paint the goat house the same or as close as you can get to the color of your house....so it matches....but I'm in Virginia so my weather is quite a bit different than yours so that might make a difference.
Dark blue, it helps reduce uv damage and will keep things cooler in the summer ☀️
