My dream car used to be a 2006+ Ford GT. But this car is so good looking and so visceral! Not to mention I could realistically work my way into one of these, seeing as the ~2006 era GT is now pushing $250K+. Seeing Ford vs Ferrari really reminded me of why this car is my favorite car of all time. Beautiful car with an incredible heritage. Ford ingenuity at its finest. An amazing underdog story.
The 2006+ GT was a much more civilized beast. Power everything, AC etc. 250k+ ? You can double that now in 2022 !
I feel like I am 16 again fantasizing about my dream car...

Yeah. I am curious how he gets out. He seemed to have a bit of an issue getting his knees tucked in under the steering wheel when he was getting in.

Contractnik I'd honestly rather have one of these than either the mid 2000s one or the new GT. More history, heritage, and a more involved driving experience you just can't get with an automatic gearbox, no matter how quicker it shifts? Take me back to the 60s, God! Haha

It’s a very well made replica. Lucky for us car guys, we actually can drive these beasts. Superformance sells them for a few hundred grand, which is a fraction of the price of an original.
What about Copyright on these replicas? By the way I ask because I'm from Chile and importing a replica could be troublesome. ¿?
Superformance is licensed by Safir, which owns the GT40 trademark, and these cars are recognized as authentic by the GT40 registry. The MkII is also licensed by Shelby Automotive and is eligible for the Shelby registry, as well.

Ford 4.7L ( 289 cu. in ) V8 engine
Its actually a 5.9L shelby made engine.
kevinsjuicebox it's a 351 bored and modded to 427. It's a "big" small block.
It should be a 289 or 302 (The #6 Ickx/Oliver GT40 ran a 302). The car in the video sounds more like a 427 or something bigger.
That's not an engine. There's a live, angry animal in there......

Howard Gire dogleg. 1st is down and left. Faster 2 to 3 and more importantly 3 to 2.

it seems that this car is difficult to control
kenngykful I know i will get criticism for this, but in Assetto Corsa (the most accurate sim racer), it is very difficult because no ABS and sensitive throttle

What makes it seem difficult to control?
It was designed for endurance racing, so it should be comfortable for the driver.
The controls are heavy compared to modern cars that babysit you, but the handling is great and feels very planted and stable.

No power steering. You need to handle the steering hard to get it to turn. Other reviewers have mentioned this, even at higher speeds.

Yes... Because back then these were endurance cars... When you spend about 9 million dollars on a car to go against ferrari they sure hell went to focus on the speed of this thing... Plus they change drivers every 4 hours...

Through agreements with Ford it has a legitimate GT40 VIN, just one that denotes it was a GT40 unit built by Superformance and not Ford
Wait how was he able to drive a 9-11 million gt40 i thought he only drove cars that were inky 100k or less pt more
This is a "replica", I put that in quotes because it's such a perfect remake of the original, that it's registered as an original GT40, and it's WAY cheaper, and with more features like air conditioning.
Castlemaster712 true and considering how much the original P/1 cars were modified by privateer teams, these P/2 units could still mechanically be seen as more original than the originals
Just imagine it with a 5 or 6 speed gearbox and shorter gears.
It has a 5 speed in this video. You can tell because it has a dogleg first gear, a 4 speed would never have that.
These have a zf 5 speed
