You can practice both ways. The advantage in the beginning if doing shoulder width pushups is that the vertical fist alignment keeps the shoulders in a natural position.
Are you supposed to do it with only the first two knuckles sir? Because I've been doing them with the last three for around 2 monts now😅 Please tell me is it only the first two knuckles?
I used to rest my body weight on 3 back knuckles because I thought it would distribute more bodyweight. 😅 I can do 30 to 40 normal pushups but only 5 to 6 knuckle pushups on hard surface and 9 to 10 on soft surface. Hope i will improve
Excellent. Knuckle push-ups are more difficult because of pressure on a small surface area (two knuckles joints), wrist stability, and because you are forced to travel further due to the hand position. Keep up the good work.
I'm sorry I know you've been a martial artist for a while but the two back Knuckles could actually stimulate more power cuz it's more straight and has more leverage
Oh and also if you punch too hard with your first two knuckles in my shift your wrist so it's always good to condition your two back Knuckles and your two front
@@Thelandofbarns Yes, I agree that one should not neglect any areas of the hand. I would say however, that striking with the front two knuckles aligns the wrist with the larger radius bone while the back knuckles the ulna (smaller bone). Structure is stronger with the front two. That being said, either one can be conditioned to be effective.
The ring finger in the pinky finger could generate more power because it's more flat and it shifts les then the to big knuckels so with more serfis area it can generate more power
That depends on your goal. Most karate styles punch with the first two knuckles therefore these pushups typically focus on them also.
Thanks. It is a great progression. Way better than "Just do less repetitions".
Glad you like it!
Yes, 'just to less' isn't very helpful for someone who may not be able to do evern one.
Thank you. This was an excellent instructional video.
Glad it was helpful!
@@GKCgoju the emphasis on wrist alignment while performing the top two knuckle push ups has improved the exercise. Thanks again.
@@Ferrin10 you're most welcome. Let me know if you have any questions.
Should fists 👊 be vertical? Is there a disadvantage to rotating into a horizontal movement? Thanks 🙏

Yes it does

Could youplease explain how the back knuckles (I assume you mean pinky, ring and middle) have more leverage?
