i hate bicycle-like vehicles that don't work as well as a cheap walmart kids bicycle.
Arcimoto was a cool idea, but not a well run business. I invested early, I test drove one, I visited their factory, and I decided $20k was way too much for this car. Seven years out from their IPO, they have failed to scale, failed to reduce their $20k price, failed to iterate meaningfully, and overall failed to make a compelling case to consumers.
Not to mention the stock is worth pennies on the dollar now. I was really pulling for them and also invested early and put down a deposit.
Also kept chasing the next shiny thing. I was at the 2022 “Ramp it Up” event and my heart sank when they started talking about the MLM.
I spent $600 of my ex wife's money on an Elio Motors t-shirt. I get it.

I live in eugene, and Ive been seeing these for about 10 years now, and they are super cool. They only thing about them that i dont like is the price, they are kind of expensive. Folks are getting them for half price lately, as the company is trying to liquidate and resize.
Ive driven one, but just a couple minutes on gravel, but I hear that they are insanely fast (like 80mph in a city block or so). I found the regen brake takes a little getting used to the delay, but I only got like 10 minutes with it.
I live in Seal Rock and see a few of these on the 101 and in Newport
If you want to try tipping a reverse trike, just back it down a sloped driveway and turn hard.

The best thing about it for YOU Rich, is that nobody thinks you stole it 😂.
This is not the take I was expecting but it just makes me respect you more. Also, yeah I would also have one if they weren’t so expensive. A decade ago they were projecting the price at $8400 and well, we see how that turned out.
This is one of the best channels on UA-cam.
Love these 3 wheel ev things! Wish I had some extra space to properly store one.
I do like the idea of my 1 seat commuter car having room for 3 more people, SOMETIMES, and having a ton of space for bulky items but not necessarily heavy items.
I want an egg van: bubbly aerodynamic shape, lightweight with easily removable seats i can leave at home most of the time, and enough cargo space for the 4x8 sheet of plywood plus enough height to sleep on it (2-3 feet). Basically a true modern vw microbus (not this overcooked buzz thing)

I absolutely love my Arcimoto FUV. I drive it more often than my Rivian for around-town uses. I won’t give it up for anything.
It’s just sad that the company was badly mismanaged and even if it is officially still in business, it’s not likely to be for much longer.

I Live over 50 miles one way and commute with my wife 3 days a week. I purchased a used Tesla about seven months ago it has saved me a butt load of $$$ on gas
Yes! Invest in a solar car port and you can drive for even less! Do it yourself with a couple of 12v batteries and a 3000w inverter and you’ve only spent a thousand or 2, and get to save 50$ a month!
@@SonneyLouis first thing i did when i purchased my Tesla was to have the charger put in my garage. I already have solar at my house(paid off) so total PG&E bill is like 60.00 bucks a month

RIP Arcimoto. They were fun little vehicles to ride around in LA.
They are not quite dead yet. Just auctioned off a bunch of equipment, keeping enough to be able to work on one vehicle at a time. We’ll see…
I'm here
Our infrastructure needs to change significantly before EVs make sense. Without the means to charge at home (apts, etc), they are logistically a horrible choice, especially in poorer areas where there might be one charging station in 20 miles or more. I am surprised there wasn't a program (or laws) to incentivize gas stations to install charging stations.
But if you’re able to charge at home like me, then owning a gasoline or a hybrid car is ignorant or quite possibly stupid. That’s my opinion and I stand on it.
@@OpinionatedOG184 For short range commutes, sure, but you've missed my point. For those of us that don't have access to home charging or where there aren't any stations to speak of, it's completely impractical and doesn't make sense. No need to attack people because you think you're right.
@@dansouth1973 Yeah but that's a weird argument. Vehicles are not meant to be one-size fits all works for every single person. Full size pickup trucks with 4 doors and an 8ft bed are also impractical and don't make sense but many people still buy them anyway. Same thing with soccer moms buying Enormous SUVs instead of a normal family sedan. But for me, I drive 30 miles each way to work, and that's about it. I could easily make an EV work without ever needing a charging station. Combustion engines used to be the same way, you couldn't just take off and drive in any direction you wanted expecting there to be gas stations around, it took time before the infrastructure caught up.
@@KingJerbear Right, "you" could easily, but anyone without a house or not living near a metro sized area cannot. And bringing up combustion engines is a 100 year old comparison, that there were no other alternatives then besides literal horse-powered means of city travel. Rich himself has made videos on how EV manufacturers actively screw over their customers at every level. And if you want to try to find any high ground arguing for EV, look up African lithium mining.
Arcimoto actually rang a bell ... less for the product, but the founder was the lead programmer for Tribes 2.
BTW, where you were trying to determine a top speed: The software limits it to 84 mph to protect the motors.
Some of the earliest models don't have a software limit, just the actual motor rev limit. (I've had mine up to 87 before deciding watching the battery % meter counting down one per second was going to mean if I didn't take the next exit, I wouldn't be able to make it back home.)
Love your vids. Thanks for keeping me an ICE driver for life.
If you get 12 mpg and you drive the American average you could spend over 4000$ dollars a year on gas, so yea let’s keep this black hole going! 😂😂😂

That GEM with the upgrades would be perfect for those that live in "small" communities that just need to go a few blocks to get around. An example would be "Old Town" in Orlando, FL.
10:30 - I've driven my FUV pretty darn hard, and taken plenty a corner fast enough that the inner wheel lifted off. Have never felt like it would actually flip. (Note that during development, Arcimoto *DID* flip one - going hard around a corner on a racetrack, dropping the outer wheel off the pavement onto the grass, and it rolled - they changed the driving dynamics to prevent that from happening. The driver was fine.)
Also, I know of two FUV owners who have been in nasty accidents - both walked away fine. One was T-boned by an SUV doing 45, causing their FUV to roll. The FUV driver was in his 80s. No injuries other than minor abrasions. FUV wasn't even totaled!
