If you can figure out how to make it V2G, count me in on the fire sale.
I would definitely pay $25K for virtually unlimited home battery backup on wheels.😂😂
Any chance some of the negatives could have been because it's battery was low/power save?
After discount still $233 to order a key for my 2013 Chevy Volt, versus dealership?
Aftermarket eBay Fob is like 30 bucks, program with simple procedure however would still need blade cut
You will get at least upgrade 2.1 soon.
The austrian fisker limited subsidy that anounced bankruptcy under self management yesterday is also a good sign for you cause those 50 employees are the hub and connection of Fisker and Magna, so they must be the software guys who had lead the UI developement and what not.
Why is it any good ?
Well, europe is different cause if you file for bankruptcy in time then you can do that under self management which will give you 3 months more to operate and the staff will not be laid off like in the USA but stay cause their contracts are still valid and they can not leave instantly cause they will get paid by the unemployment insurance of austria - same in germany. So the employees there are not loosing any money or what else. The 3 month are a time to restructure and operate without the load from the debts of the past.
And this means that Fisker austria will survive the mother company Fisker Inc. most likely which will also might offer a final update beyond 2.1 cause I expect that they are working on a kind of final gift fixing the biggest issues that are fixable in that time frame and also look for some minor bugs. 3 months - and that it depends on how smart the Fisker owner group might be cause the most important asset should be part of the Fisker Austria company which will be sold in august or later. Especially all the documententation, laptops and what not which are required to upgrade the cars manuallly and to develope the software further. Not sure, but what should a staff of 50 employees do in a tiny market of 9 million citizens ?
Quite fair review or presentation of the car - no , I have none, I had been in the car industry here since 1988 when I started studying in the oldest car comoany of the world and came across those with the 4 rings and also the 911 guys, suppliers and what not.
Great purchase and I bet it will pay of cause the times are a lot better then back in the days of the Karma which is a far more complicated car as a hybrid with an electrive part which had not been sold that much. I guess the new fisker ocaen america owners club should find solutions for every thing and I still bet that Land Rover might be a buyer cause it would fit perfectly to the Landrover Evoque like styling and would save Landrover from paying CO2 emission fines which are 100 $ per g and those big Land Rover engines are known for CO2. The only way out for Landrover is to compensate with sold EV to get below 95 gr CO2 fleet average (plus maybe 10 gr due to heavier weight) or they would have to buy from Tesla and other EV manufacturers CO2 emission rights. Therefore Fisker might be bought by Landrover, gets a new badge and they can continue after bankruptsy soon cause Magna will be able to restart the assembly line, they can also negotiate a new price for the parts and cars to lower the cost and offer a Landrover OCEAN for a good price - without the debts and obligationsn of the old Fisker Inc.
Good luck !
That sponsor is dope but sounds sketchyyyyyy if someone gets your keys lol
If a company goes bankrupt, they should be required to open source the repair/diagnostic software as part of the bankruptcy proceedings.
They should be open-source in first place.
@@blackmennewstyleall these car companies trying to be tech companies and they should have the right to repair. Govt needs to make a law. The EU is doing it
That's how my local city got screwed by the company that installed all the wireless water meters. After they were basically done installing them in an entire city over 10 years they no longer would service them.
The city ended up having to reinstall new ones that aren't proprietary so they didn't end up in the same pickle.
When a company goes bankrupt, there no longer is a company to open source anything. Companies should be required to escrow the documentation so that in case of bankruptcy users still have access to it. Or heck, make it available anyway, because it's literally your paying customers who need it to fix their piece of trash you sold.
agree. That's what's holding me back from pulling the trigger on a discounted fisker.
The original Fisker Karma is a great car. Especially if you have the tools to fix the expensive things on the cheap. It really makes sense to get a $20k Karma and enjoy it, especially if your commute is a short one. A big warning is that the CSP for Fisker are very closed about sharing any information or details of repair/service. I had to start a UA-cam channel to get information out there to Karma owners. The Fisker repair community (literally 7 dealers, he wasn't kidding), tried everything they could to get me to stop posting information on battery repair and a few things that commonly fail. I also was able to upload and link the original factory repair manual for others to use for FREE. They WERE NOT successful in stopping me, and thankfully I have a nice series on battery repair and answer all questions quickly! I really wish people would start working together on things and stop the money grabbing for every little piece of information that should be public domain.
IDK man I've heard that they're kinda pieces of shit that break down often.

I'm feeling kinda sad for Fisker. They had some really interesting models in the works & I really like the smaller SUV formfactor of the Fisker Ocean.
Hope they make it out alive & do better in the future.
The remants of Saab has a pretty nice looking EV with a claimed 600 mile range from a massive battery. Unfortunately, they are out of time and money.
It's kinda looking like Tesla isn't far behind. Their per car profits used to be 30%. With the price cuts, they're making 5% which is less than the legacy car makers who average around 9%. They don't have anything new in the pipeline at this point.
@@quademasters249 I wouldn't worry about Tesla, they have their loyal fanbase & are the uncontested leading electric car brand that actually still make money on their cars.
Many other big car companies are really struggling right now. Take Ford for example; Their EV division lost almost 5 billion dollars last year & it looks like this year will be even worse considering they sell so few EV's they stand to lose more than 130.000$ per sold car. This is just one example, I think Lucid motors lose more than twice as much per sold car so they might be the next to go...Rip.
@@quademasters249 Mezon Kuzk fudged up his own legacy. Instead of keeping quiet and silent, he opened his mouth. That made everything he "owns" suffer. Including Tesla. Partly because people didn't want to be associated, partly because people had enough and left, partly because he's an idiot with about as much management sense as a pear. And i say a pear and not a sh!t, because sometimes (like a broken clock) he shuts the frak up and lets his managers do the bizz talk in his place. NOT these recent times, what with recently axing a good percentage of his Tesla leadership including one of his former right hand men at Tesla, who'd been around from nearly, day one.
The fans think that this will last forever and that he's some kind of bizz wizz, but the reality, cord hard reality, is this: while he's fumbling to unzip his fly over his photoshopped manbelly, the other car manufacturers are not only catching up on the lead, but they're leaving tesla in the dirt. In another 4~6 years, it won't make sense to buy those cars if he's around, especially since once you drink the koolaid, there's no going back. And he had a bath in the stuff, gargled it and made those tiny fountains you do at the pool when you're a kid and the water hits you back in the face - with it.
Like i said, had the guy shut up, let the Tesla management team do their jobs... Tesla would've had HUGEMONGOUS lead that no manufacturer could've even so much as approached. NOW.. not only is he losing that lead, but he's bleeding talent left and right, TO his enemies. He's not the first to capsize and the biggest fall the worst. So kick back, get some pop and watch the disaster in real time, while pointing out at the fanboys who just can't understand that loyalty doesn't get them anything from a guy who has fake accounts on his own platform to soundboard his own ideas from and to. Guy has his own puppet show, he doesn't need others.

Mercury died such a quiet death that I didn't know they were gone until Rich mentioned it.
I think that they didn't really do away with Mercury. They just stopped making what had previously been called "Lincoln" and started using that name for what had earlier been called "Mercury". Of course it has been a very long time since there was any substantial difference between any of the three brands.
an instrument cluster in front of you is for safety. you aren't taking your eyes off the road too much to look at it for useful information, like your speed to make sure you aren't speeding and in big digits that are displayed at all times.
I hear you but on the tesla model 3 it feels like there is less eye movement to see it than a traditional dash screen. My peripheral vision is better for seeing the road than looking down through the steering wheel I feel
Sure, but let's be real, that's not really the case. If that is such a big issue, what happens when you need to change the temperature? Get a screen notification? Have to look out the side, or take a long blink when tired. Glancing to the side is more of a hassle that you live with than a safety concern.
And anyway, regarding speeding, you've got other cars on the road to compare too (which i know many Americans drive by), speed limit warnings or automatic speed control. And, glancing slightly to the side isn't the end of the world.
Again, i 100% would like a heads up display, but after the first few days of driving, your habits change.
Tbh glancing at the cluster or off to the side doesn't make a big difference. The only time I care about my speed is when I see a cop or am setting cruse control. There's no safety reason to know your speed.

But fisker is not a bankrupt manufacturer, since they dont even manufacture anything. Theyre just a bankrupt design company.
I saw one in Glasgow, Scotland. Because I had not seen one before I had to ride my naturally aspirated bicycle round the back of it to see what it was. This was in the car park at a Sainsbury's supermarket. Note that my bicycle gets to park right next to the door, in the dry, with that spot never taken, and no need to walk more than five paces into the store. The Fisker Ocean was some way from the front door and, due to its bulk, that parking and getting in and out of the car park would really stress me out. I don't see why anyone would want to do that to themselves unless they were an elderly boomer with mobility issues. The humble bicycle for the win.
As a Scot who used to cycle as my main form of transport, I concur - if you live in Scotland. But when I moved to California that became completely impractical (too hot most of the year; distances too far; people looking at you like you’re insane; having to cross 4 lanes of traffic on a 55mph speed limit every time you need to turn left; having to take longer routes than cars because you can’t use the freeways). But I go back to the humble bicycle whenever I visit Scotland - cycling faster than the traffic never gets old!

Once it’s BK then no updates and nowhere to repair it and no parts if you need a part.. you will own a BRICK
Yup totally correct. Why take that chance.
@@javierferrer8898Maybe if you own an Electrified Garage? 😉
The problem with the latest generations of cars is the dependency on the manufacturer. What will happen if their data sites are malfunctioning? You might find youself unable to start the car for software reasons!
- every time a "new architecture" is rolled out, there is no other supply chain, end of story. lol..
If you want easy repair start with vehicles which fill wrecking yards (parts are easy to find).
You'll have to jailbreak the car.
As a Fisker owner whose car is inoperable and was given no timeline on when the car will be fixed, I’m eagerly awaiting for independent shops to get the software needed to diagnose and repair these vehicles.
- so, Electrified Garage can't help?? Maybe Gruber motors have contacts...
I’ve reached out to EG and the guy who fixes karma’s in PA. Both don’t have the diagnostic software for the ocean. 😢
Well, someone, maybe you, just needs to figure out what mix of parts it is, cars are like legos, it will 99% not be anything custom. IE. for fisker karma you also do not need special diagnostics, but it is chevy volt + ford mondeo 4 + ford focus + ford fusion phev + for fusion duratec + saab 9-3 to connect to pretty much all the system. Same will be here, just takes time to find out, or you can wait for someone to do it for you. It is not just click done, so do not expect car repair shop to be able to do it. ... well now I have written this, it occurred to me, that Tesla is pretty much the only exception running mostly custom stuff.
Do you have a hunch of what’s making it inoperable? Is it on the data, electric, or mechanical side? I know you might not know just interested and seeing what’s making not possible to diagnose.
Rich needs to make a Samcrac diss track to keep up with Kendrick this weekend...
Great review Rich. Thank you
I may be way misinformed here but I've read several articles on Fiskar producing the karma again after it was bought the first time. I know they haven't been produced in a while but the original company started in like 2012 and they were still being produced in 2016 after the company had gone under and been rebought. This is the second time the company has gone under and the 3rd time mopar/Chrysler/Stellantis has passed on buying
They are still being produced today! Another company bought the rights and all the manufacturing tooling from Fisker in 2012 and since then it has been produced as the Karma Revero. This is also the reason the original 2500 Fisker Karma’s still have reasonable service support.
Good thing for Electrified Garage 😅 Fisker ocean is like a pretty girl you date looks good on the outside and then starts giving you a bunch of warning lights, unwelcome sounds and there is nobody to service it.
I hope to see them also around $20k. But if there is to be a firesale, I assume it's for the currently produced models, and since the production warehouse "paused" for 6 weeks we'll have to see if they resume to produce more. Getting one while the company exists may be the best bet, because if it's a liquidation situation, they typically don't honor any current sales/deals and actually jack up prices on the products in inventory to MSRP levels.

I wouldn't pay a hundred bucks for ANY electric vehicle except to flip it for a profit. And if it's not a Porsche, I don't think that there will BE a profit off of reselling any EV soon. People are seriously starting to realize what a scam they are.
They’re useful commuter cars if you can plug them in at home and know where to charge it to (depending on battery).

if I could buy ANY ev registered as a real car for under used/crashed/whatever as long as not burnt for 1000 i'd buy it.
Well, good thing is you have nothing to worry about because not a single one will be sold for a hundred dollars
I’d love to find an affordable EV. How do you feel they’re a scam?
Good thing I'm driving my mine into the ground and not worrying about resale. A car is a consumable, not an investment.
I thought the Fisker that made the Ocean was a “different company” from the one that made the Karma.
technically it is, enough so that last rounds investors lost everything
I absolutely agree, Fisker Ocean is an amazing first-off car, and software can be updated.... unless, you know. If I was in the market now I would absolutely consider a Fisker even it is a bit larger than I need. In Norway, when you buy an insurance, you also can puhrchase an extra insurance for battery and drive units that you can renew for up to 10 years. It cost about 200 NOK/$20/month. That would cover the worst scenario and if available where you live I would go for that.
All that cool crap is gonna break. When it breaks, a guy is gonna tell you its costs $2500 to $10000 to replace the thing.

I definitely find it the best looking EV in that segment.
What if Fisker goes out of business and you're dead in the water for software updates? A little worrisome to own a car that's parent company has disappeared.
The Fisker Ocean is the Palm Pre of EVs.
The palm pre actually had fans, though?😂
Palm Pre was ahead of its time.
Don't insult the Palm Pre like that.
Where/how are you going to buy replacement parts for a car like this?
You are not.
The proprietary software in a vehicle from a company that is about to go bankrupt - that's a dealbreaker for me. There's no guarantee the new "post-bankrupt" version of Fisker will have the skilled technicians that will be needed to keep it on the road for the next 15 years. I'll keep driving my 1997 F250 and my 2000 Dodge Ram until the wheels fall off - and by that point hopefully I can pick up a 10 year old Tesla Model 2 for $10,000.
I do believe that other companies are waiting on Fisker to file for bankruptcy before buying them.
My favorite part of the car is the software being less responsive than a $50 android phone
No company will buy Fisker and sell the Ocean for less than $60k. Even at $60k they were losing money on each vehicle… which is why it’s going bankrupt. Nobody in their right mind should buy that car at $60k. There are way better vehicles out there for that amount of money - Mach E, model Y… even the Nissan whatever it’s called is better
Ariya
How can't they be profitable at 60k a car? They screwed up massively somewhere to lose money at that price point cause I don't see the value even at 50 brand new.
@@AceEverettbecause he's making stuff up and doesn't know a thing
@@AceEverett Rivian can't even make money selling at $90k. Rivian's unit cost is something like $132k. So not a surprise Fisker is losing money at 2/3 that. Building EVs is the best way to burn investor cash right now.
You're speaking of a liquidator that comes in after bankruptcy. Yes, liquidators will try to sell at MSRP because they don't have to keep a company afloat and don't have to honor any sales. The firesales goign on now are Fisker giving out the deals while it is still operating.
You're the best Rich. I will definitely watch your vehicle reviews.
In many cases another company buys the designs and parts. They normally handle service and take over the customer base.
This is what any believer would say.
13:14 Pretty bold of you going across that bridge with the windows up lol. That bridge was a “temporary” bridge built 30 years ago.
Wasn't it 40 yrs ago?
Rich trying to pump the stock so he can get out without too much of a loss 😂
Sorry Rich, but I can adjust fan speed in both our Teslas right on the steering wheel with the scroll wheel button. In the X I just move the scroll wheel, in the 3, I press it for 2 sec and then scroll it as I keep it as the primary option. Rotating screen is unnecessary and a potential break nightmare. Screen should be landscape anyway which is why all Teslas are that way now. For watching video and having display closer to your view. Gauge display is not necessary at all. Plus steering wheel obscures display anyway in most cases. Heard 70 year old picking up his new model 3 say "this is the first time ever in my life I was able to adjust steering wheel to where I wanted because it would not block part of the gauge cluster" (because the model 3 just has the one center display) Prefer display on our model 3 versus 2 displays on the X.
Just one thing I noticed. The c pillar window rolls down so that's probably moisture between the seal and glass after a wash or steam clean.
The "Best" electric is now worth less than a Corolla. LOL!
Yeah and the corolla now runs on 0W8 oil. So we will see if they can’t still hold up. (This is for 23-24 2.0s)
"96% of Ev owners have a gas car for backup" 💯 uncle Rich, that is so true 🙋At $20k-30k that Fisker would be a steal and even if you can't get it serviced or sell it, you can always turn it into a energy storage battery.
AKA married couples.
My main problem with buying a car from a company going out of business is where do I get spare parts? And what do I do with half finished software that is locked down and not open source so I can't tinker with it myself.
every time I see one of those hunks of stainless drive down the road I think "hmm. didn't think it was possible to see bigger douchebags than those that drive G Wagons, but once again -I am proven wrong!"
Lets not forget that all these are just computers with wheels. The manufacturers can/will limit, and/or brick your car using remote software "upgrades" and "Improvements". "You will own NOTHING and be HAPPY."
You read that elsewhere, it impressed you for some reason, and you now regurgitate it in order to appear thoughtful. Hooray, internet.
@KentBuchla It's a common Right Wing Chode claim that Liberals are all ackchuallullally Commies who want to make it so you own nothing. Your soiled underpants are my fresh underpants, Comrade.
Is it false?
Truth
@@beerdedwanderer Yes, what a person goes full absolutist (and, yes, I realize. That
Honest to god, if a car doesnt have a gauge cluster i WILL. NOT. BUY. IT. Having a screen in the center is actually dangerous, you SHOULDNT be staring at the radio infotainment screen while driving, not EVER. People cant figure out how to get a text message without swerving across 3 lanes, you really think they're gonna be able to act responsibly with a gigantic tv screen? It does explain why the worst damn drivers out there own Tesla's, camping the left lane, swerving, way under the speed limit, all kinds of terrible drivers, all in teslas, and now i know why... Theyre all staring at the screens or auto driving and theres no ACTUAL buttons so theyre stuck scrolling through menu after menu to do anything.
- my car radio is stuck on Spanish currently - I can't find the menu item to fix it while parked . Let alone trying to do so while driving.
(I think there is something wrong with it) - Lucky I never plan on using emergency assist - whose menu I can't understand. lol
You can get a Fisker Karma for around 20-25k. Go ahead and jump on it, Rich.
The Karma isn't as software dependent as the Ocean. The biggest issue will be on software updates and that can end the functionality of the car,
"if you live in southern california you probably have enough money for a house with a garage" bruh im living in a studio with an aerospace engineers salary
stop working for Elon!
bro said fisker karma is not a good looking vehicle💀💀💀
I agree. It has not aged well. That mustache is hideous.
Mustache is hideous but the rest ain’t bad. Didn’t herick fisker design the DB7?
Bro used “bro”. Bigger fail.
What is 500 boosts? Does it not accelerate fast after 500 take offs?
It’s been a while rich but this felt like an old school classic rich rebuilds! Missed this content!
I just bought the Volvo C40 dual motor and was strongly leaning towards the Fisker Ocean Ultimate. I got scared due to the bankruptcy but i loved the vehicle. It had the software update that fixed almost all the issues. MKBHD's review was extremely juvenile and further proved to me he has no business doing auto reviews.
His review was on point to ever other car reviewer at the time
The C40 seems to be that vehicle that almost closely matches the Ocean to a tee. Rich is right in that the Ocean has Range Rover vibes. The only reason I looked at it was because it seemed it could be a more reliable Discovery Sport/Evoque looking thing, but if you cannot replace the 12V ACC battery without a service tech who has a kit, there is no point in the Ocean being a main vehicle for anyone.
@@TaofikiGafar total and unadulterated bullshit...and I know absolutely nothing compared to the actual pros in the market. I'm talking from the point of view that I know about autos as much as he does (not much). I'm also saying that because I spent hours with the Fisker, Ford Mustang Mach E GT Performance, Evolve C40 Recharge Ultimate and Tesla Model Y Performance. MKBHD could have pointed the absolute stupid things he did to make a point about them. No one would knock that because it is important to point out. To preface the idiotic review the way he did makes him a shitty click bait UA-camr. The fact that he doubled down on the revisit to save face instead of just admitting he was a moron makes him useless as an auto reviewer.
They shipped a faulty product to costumers and they should be judged accordingly. We don't owe these companies anything. They chose to ship a buggy car, now they are facing the consequences.
