    Awesome video I love the way you show the footage of the town I felt like I was there walking next to you. I have a question how much does it cost to go on that boat that you went out and you pass by the guys. I just can’t find prices like what does it cost to scuba dive what does it cost to snorkel people don’t tend to say prices too much and I don’t know why. Thanks

    • @LittleBirdieTravel
      @LittleBirdieTravel  2 роки тому

      Hi Jennifer. Glad you enjoyed this walk with me. The boat I walked by was the boat for the snorkel tour I went on with Marvin and the guy I waved at (with his shirt on lol) was the captain. All tours need a captain and a guide. The tour prices aren't always mentioned because they can vary depending on where you are snorkeling, amount of people, if it includes a sunset etc. Generally, I'd say if around $30 - $40 per person for a snorkel tour on the West end/West Bay/ Sandy Bay with a few snorkel spots, if a big group, you can probably get that price down to $20- $25. That's what I experienced, but with gas prices etc, I'm sure things can change in the future and are changing. So, those prices are not concrete, just my general estimate based on my personal experience)
      Marvins & wife whatsapp - most people in Roatan communicate via Whatsapp, not email nor text
      +504 8943-2370 - Marvin & His wife
      Dive shops generally charge about $30-$40 a dive (1 dive stop) if certified. If you go on multiple dives, you get a better deal. This is listed on many company websites so you can get a concrete price. Check out Jackson Dive shop on the West end as my recommendation if you like diving in small groups.
      driving to the other side of the island by taxi, I hear, has gone up. $60-$75 one way. Marvin doesn't do driving tours, just water related tours. I will be visiting the East end on my next trip in beginning June. If I have a recommendation after, I'll post it here.
      For more info, i recommend checking out my travel guide.

    Woooww Roaton looks absolutely beautiful! My family and I will be visiting next week on a cruise. Would you know how far West End is from the Cruise port?

    • @LittleBirdieTravel
      @LittleBirdieTravel  Рік тому +1

      It's very beautiful, this island will surprise you. I don't remember exactly how long, maybe 15-20 minutes? I do highly recommend leaving the cruise port, the cruise port will not show you the real Roatan. There are taxis outside the port to take you to west end and back, highly recommend.

    Great video. Currently planning a family trip this year and Roatan is high on the list. Would the weather be scorching hot around July - August?

    • @LittleBirdieTravel
      @LittleBirdieTravel  Рік тому

      Hi there. I apologize, I thought I answered this, don't know what happened to the one I wrote..... Yes it will be very hot July-August but the best way to handle it is to use the book ends of the day for water activities like mornings and late afternoons/early evenings. The noon time when the sun is at its strongest, is a little hot the handle. I was there end of August one year, perfectly fine for me. I would do it again.

    How far could you walk in the water before you’d have to start swimming to the reef? Leaving from Mr Tucan.

    • @LittleBirdieTravel
      @LittleBirdieTravel  6 місяців тому +1

      Well you should walk until waist length in water I suppose and snorkel from there. I am not good at measuring distance but it's not far out if you are wondering. As facing the beach, swim along left side. You will first see a fair amount of sea grass, but just keep swimming past the grass and then it will be pretty clear where the reef is. I made a video just about the snorkeling, that may help, let me go find the link. There is also reef to the right side of the bay but it's a little further to swim to from the shore with the boats coming in, but not impossible. I've done it.

      Hi Barb. I have a playlist of Roatan videos with tips. I made a half moon bay snorkeling guide here sharing where to get in water you may find helpful ua-cam.com/video/FIPyK1o6Sn0/v-deo.html. Shopping wise, Waves and Art is a good place and Rusty Fish is a cool place to check out. For T-shirts, go to the T Shirt Shack. As shown in the video, there are lots of little shops for souvenirs and any are worth checking out to see if you like something.

    Hi. I’m going on the Allure of the Seas in September and I keep hearing cruisers saying roatan is sketchy and not to do a diy. I’m very adventurous though and I’d rather get a cab to half moon bay, walk around, eat. Take a water taxi to west bay. Very doable right?

    • @travellemonde4888

      West end is far from sketchy. You will be completely fine to go there and walk around. You see exactly what I show in the video. I always feel safe there, especially in the day. People/locals are peaceful. Highly recommend going during your time there .
