Im from there originally haven been back in 6 years as an Island person I did enjoy your perspective on the 2 different areas...I've been to various others Islands in the carribbean and I'm still saying Roatan is 1 of the best in the World....I won't change it for nothing. Can't wait to go and visit back home in 4 months....blessings everyone. To my fellow Islanders enjoy Roatan don't take it for granted. Because there are not many more beaches like it...💖
As a Honduran, I really enjoyed hearing out your guy's perspective on the two completely beautiful yet different things about West Bay and West End!!! You guys were awesome.
We stayed at the Grande Roatan Resort after having cruised to the Island a couple times and spent the day at West bay on excursions. Great experience, great food, friendly people. Snorkeling and diving are off the hook.great video guys…
Was I Roatan last December, be back again in May 2023. We have never been to west end or west bay. Would love to, just always there by cruise ship and they never offer tours there. I generally don’t like to do unsponsored tours. Great video, beautiful beaches.
I am so happy that I came across your Chanel loved the comparison both WE/WB and in general all your videos of ROATAN very informative of places to eat and things to do. I am native from ROATAN lived there till I was 21 worked at Anthony’s Key Resort and I love this Island. Bay back then over 30 years ago there were no development at West Bay it was just a solitary beautiful aqua blue pristine beach with limited access either by boat or walking over the mountain either from West End or Flowers Bay. Now that I am close to retirement I would love to go there with my girls and stay for a couple of weeks. Thank you for the amazing videos of ROATAN❤️
Thank you so much for your kind comments. Roatan is a beautiful place with so much to do and see! We would have loved to see what West Bay looked like before it was developed. I'm sure it was a paradise! Thanks for watching!
Fell in love with West Bay on our first few visits, but then fell for the whole island. So in my opinion they both have a lot to offer depending on what you want to do that day! Can’t go wrong either way😎
Excellent comparison and contrast. Thank you! We’ll be there towards end of the year on a cruise. Last time I was there was the mid-1980’s and we just walked around West End.
Great video, we are going there in November and have never been outside Mahogany Bay with Carnival there in Roatan. Beautiful beach and great info regarding both sides of island.
The way you did this was so cute! ☺️ I really liked how y’all went back and forth, and it helped me understand the different areas. I want to experience both!😄 We wouldn’t be able to get in or out of the water taxi. Are there car taxis that will take you back and forth from West Bay to West End? If so, do you know about how much they are and how long they take? I had another question but forgot it. I’ll ask it later if I remember it.🤪
So glad you enjoyed the video. Both places are great! Yes, there are taxi's that take you back and forth. Since we had a car I am not sure how much but I am sure it would be economical. It is about 15 minutes by car from West Bay to West End. Let us know how you like Roatan. We can't wait to get back!
I had an amazing experience at the Caribbean Seahawk Resort on West Bay - it was beachfront bliss with crystal-clear waters, a relaxing pool area, convenient access to water activities like kayaking and snorkeling, delicious dining with ocean views, and clean, spacious rooms close to local attractions. While the best part of Roatan depends on individual preferences, the Caribbean Seahawk Resort definitely made my experience unforgettable with its beautiful beachfront location, relaxed atmosphere, and great amenities.
Wow ❤️❤️❤️ Félicitations à vous, Vraiment un vidéo complet d information Et bien fait Le meilleur sur ytube pour roatan By far , the best video on roatan Merci
Love West End. I stay at Splash Inn (right across from Water Taxi). Can’t wait to get back, I had been 6 years in a row and then covid happened. Thanks for your videos.
Even though this was an old video we like how you guys split up to cover more of the island to show the different vibes. I would have liked to know which side royal Caribbean dock on. Thank you great job!
Thank you for your kind comments. The port for cruise ships is on the south side of the island about 25 minutes from the West End at Coxen Hole. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers!
Honduras i wish there were these kind of beaches all around Honduras i always wanted to go when i was there back then but i was too poor lol hopefully i can go back and visit one day
West End and West Bay are about 20-25 minutes from the port. We had a rental car but there are taxis and private drivers that can take you over. A typical price is about $20 per person for a round trip. Thanks for watching!
Catching up with Roatan since my time there wayyy back in 1992- 94! Yeah- as a Gringo the West End was my type of place- back then the tarmac-road ended in Cocks N Hole and from there All sand! The actual beach of West End was 'almost' completely natural- no man-made structs-at all! You could rent a Basic 1 bed bongolo for $12.- a night or sleep in Jimmy's hammocks for $6- ! Back then as you hiked down the beach (Then) you could see Sea Eagles flying 10 ft off the waves- hunting for snakes crawling in and out of the sea! Since those days I have retired back in the US, although I married a Filipina and often we return to our small island of Samal in the southern Philippines. Unforturnatly there the local population is so poor its still dependent upon fishing and consequently they have Fished-Out much of The Philippines- truly tragic! Personally I can say this- I've swam and dove- Hawaii/Red Sea/ Belize/Keys and Roatan has one of the very Best 'reefs' for EVERYTHING Water-wise you will find!!!!!!! Thereby enjoy this video while things still last! Sad part though is- today Honduras for so-soo many of their own poor has become desperate and the Immigrant Caravans heading North often are many Hondurians! As I lived in Guatemala City and did tours around Central America- yes the poor were poor but NONE of those countries were as Bad economically as they are today for so-so many locals!!!
Wow! I would have loved to have seen Roatan back in the early 1990’s. Thanks so much for your comment. Really gives us an appreciation of this beautiful island!
Can you tell me how to get to that part of west bay ( in front of the grand resort) once I get off the Royal Caribbean ship? I don't see it in the excursions. Thank you!
We don't have direct experience with that since we were not on a cruise ship arrving in Roatan. My sister came in on a cruise ship and arranged to have a ride by van from the cruise ship to West Bay. There are private vans that do that for people. Wish I had a direct contact for you! Sorry.
We are planning a Roatan trip over New years Eve. We are planning on staying in the West end for the first few days and are considering transferring to a place in West Bay for the last few days. I was wondering if we can just make day trips to West Bay and use (Rent) amenities at a resort for a day?
You can walk all the way. It takes about 45 minutes. The best way is to catch a water taxi. It is only a couple of dollars and it is beautiful ride. Thanks for watching!
My husband and I are looking for a nice little one bedroom retirement place for us that we can survive off of a military not too fancy just lay back and not too expensive do you have any recommendations
We really did not look at long term rentals or places to buy. I know there are many good real estate agents that could help you out. Although, if we were going to move to Roatan we would choose to live near West Bay or the West End. Here is the Remax site that may be helpful. Good luck! www.roatan-realestate.com/roatan-real-estate/
Wonderful place, the only thing I felt was missing in my visit was the lack of Native culture that I was expecting. I saw no Garífuna art or Punta music, which I thought I would see. Instead it seems more like they have just built everything around cruise ship, snorkeling, and general tourism.
We drove out to Punta Gorda for a Garifuna experience. It was a Sunday and they had plenty of music and was a very uniqe experience. (We did a segment on that day.) The other parts of the island didn't seem to have much of the Garifuna culture. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Water is very different. West Bay has a real nice beach that goes for about a mile or so. West End has Half Moon Bay that is so beautiful and the water is good to swim and snorkle. I think you will love both. Thanks for watching!
