Good video. There is a little issue though. Hyundai and Kia door buttons have small resistors in the button mechanism. They're not shown in the schematics but if you disassemble the handle and switch, you'll see two small resistors. It definitely threw me for a loop for a while. They do sell buttons separately for some models on eBay.
Thank you very much for the video. I was able to fix my 2018 Sportage SX with a knock off lever from Ebay using only the new harness that was in. The replacement lever was painted a different color and there was no way I could use it as is.
My 2017 KIA Niro driver door button just failed. Key lock / unlock works, passenger door handle button works, and interior lock / unlock works. So, I suspect the switch with the driver door button is bad since everything else works. I assume schematic would be the same as for your Sportage. Thanks for posting.
@@JLsAutoSolution Thanks, as it stands - wife and I are satisfied with procedures to not use the door button rather than mess with trying to fix it. Hope all the rest keeps working. Cars are becoming much to complicated and electronic vehicles. Has a friend (Insurance Adjuster) with story of a customer's broken head lamp from a rock. Ended up a $6200 fix (seems impossible) due to owner put off fix resulted in three modules bad, and then recalibration.
I found a handle for $70 but there's no indication that it comes with the button and wiring.. And the crappy diagram doesn't show it at all. Is the wiring, button and connector a separate part number? Thanks !! Nice video!!! Much appreciated . 2016 Sorento.. lotsa niggling little things starting to occur.. like the plastic cover of shark fin antenna suddenly busted off.. Checked with recent carwash but of course they have no "lost and found" box. KIA wants close to $800...
Hello. Could you please help me? Today I've replaced the driver door handle on my 2006 cls55 w219 and now if I push the knob on the door handle the door pops to open. Instead of closing the central lock. And if I push the long button behind it close the central lock insted pop the door. Let's say the Open and close function switched? Mechanically it sems like works perfectly. Before I replace it, it was worked in the right way. The only reason why i replace the door hanndle was because small knob stop working. How I can fix it myself? Thank you.
my first question would be is where did you purchase the handle from? my second question would be, does the system work properly with the old handle reinstalled?
Please help!!! I have a 2018 Kia Sportage that I can not get back into. My car wouldn't start so I tried to jump start it and that didn't work. So I thought I would try to start the car again. Like before it didn't start up and nothing is coming on. No lights and No chimes. So at this point I'm done with this car for the day. I go to get out the car as soon as I close the door my car locked up. I read somewhere that it could be the battery in my keyless remote. I went out and bought a brand new set of batteries for both sets of remotes. Tried both and still nothing. I cannot get into this damn car. I've ran out of what to do's. Maybe you could please give me some advice on exactly how I can get into this vehicle. Please and Thanks
Hi great video! Can you help me? My 2018 Sportage is automatically locking with the key fob inside if I don't press the start button. What could be wrong?
Thanks I have a 2012 Kia optima and I think the switch is bad. I'm going to have to remove it I think the optima is much more complicated to get the handle off I had the door panel off already and then the inner door panel I removed some of that but I didn't see access for the door handle I'll have to look again. Thanks I kind of thought this might be a problem on our car.
the handle comes off the same way. one 10mm bolt on the side under a plastic cover. then just pull the handle towards the rear of the vehicle and voila.. it will come out.
@@JLsAutoSolution yeah I did some looking around and saw an access hole on the inner part of the door. I was able to get everything removed from the door except the handle that has the switch in it didn't come apart like the one you showed. There wasn't enough cable to pull any connector out of the door and the wires went inside of the door handle. But I know how to take that part off now thank you and I will have to spend some time figuring out if I need to do any door disassembly to remove the handle with switch.
Hi Jeremy. “If you get a resistance reading that means your switch is OK” ??? Where is the 100 ohms from? I didn’t catch that on the drawing? (Your Buddy is enjoying his shift in the background 🤣)
Hey Ian.. Yes if you get a reading while pushing the button on the handle, that means that the handle is good.. there is no spec in the shop manual for this... 100ohms is the norm from my experience. Now in the video when I test the defective handle, there is an ohm reading of 0.724k ohms(or close to that)(5:27) without pressing the button.. I then press the button and you see 100 ohms on the meter. so the issue is in its normal resting state.. What does not help at Kia, is their lack of information in the shop manuals and wiring diagrams.. Most of the time I have to go get a tester vehicle just to get some diagnostic information. Thanks for the question and for watching..
NOTE***KIa and Hyundai Only**** if the vehicle is withing the 5 year 100,000km range then yes it is fully covered by the warranty. and it should not cost you any extra
One of the first electrical schematic symbols you mentioned was a low frequency antenna but that symbol is actually a resistor.

Pretty much, the same but if the button failed its easy enough to verify.

not seeing the key inside the vehicle will alow this to happen. scan for codes,
What about when a keyless entry issue is that the door mechanism is too sensitive compared to when it is supposed to close in the winter?

Is there a video for Toyota landcruiser

I was just told its going to cost me 374.00 for them to replace my driver side door handle! Where can I find that it is covered by warranty?
NOTE***KIa and Hyundai Only**** if the vehicle is withing the 5 year 100,000km range then yes it is fully covered by the warranty. and it should not cost you any extra
@@JLsAutoSolution Its a 2017 Kia Sportage
84,000 miles
All my doors unlock except the driver door. Even if I use the key it still won't open unless opened from inside
Seems to be an actuator issue, or linkage issue, Remove and inspect then replace.
Thanks for wathcing.
I wish they were mechanic's who could do this in Ireland
is this covered by warranty ?
100,000km or 5years
