On a sad note when my wife left me in 2006, this song came flooding back into my mind. Now she's passed away 6 months. R.I.P. Betty.❤⚘💋
Sorry to hear it man. I'm glad you are here.
WTF hope things are algudz now bruv
@@jumbo5818 things are looking up.
@@jeffreyflint6286 good on ya mate,
Sad you lost a your wife, your lover and your closest friend.
May your future days be filled with positive thoughts of her and your times together.
She helped you become the strong man that you are now bruh.
Ride on, my brother, ride on..into our personal mystic, our future.
Peace be on you and follow you every where you are both physically and mentally.
Most people who don't know them think Sabbath are just LOUD. Not so, several are beautifully simple like this. Great song, great band.
Indeed.
Whenever I play "Fluff" people are astounded that it's Sabbath, if it wasn't for
Google, I'm sure that most people would think I'm full of it! lol
Another great-slow song from Sabbath is She’s gone.
@@MIRRORIMAGEWORLD I played Fluff to a chap at work, he loved it and had no idea it was Sabbath
Laguna Sunrise was fantastic off of the Vol. 4 LP. Really caught me off guard the first time I heard that.
This song is beautiful and ozzys voice is perfect as always. The song was written about the drummers break up from his wife.
Ozzy re-released this song with his daughter Kelly with slight lyric changes to make it about a daughter growing up.
deffo worth a reaction brad & lex
No actually the song was written for Ozzy you know John Osborne, it was about the demise of his relationship and his marriage with Thelma his first wife where they had 2 children she finally had enough of the crap going on, you know the Rockstar life 🤔 and I only know this it's well-documented but I also know Ozzy personally. I've not seen Ozzy since 1991 and no we never spoke about this song but it's very obvious who it's about and what happened.....
The band was renting a house to write songs for the New album. Tony found a piano and started messing about on it. Ozzy started singing a melody over the top of what Tony was playing. Geezer chirped up with I've got some words for that. The song is about Bill's divorce that he was going through at the time. Truly a band effort.
Such a beautiful song that shows the versatility of Black Sabbath. 70s Sabbath is probably my favorite music of all time.
Back in high school, all the dudes who were into Sabbath (metal) played this for our moms, trying to get them to see that Black Sabbath were not all completely evil and scary.
Black sabbath sang a lot of songs about God.
I did the same thing with fluff! Lol
Indeed. I did the same thing with AC/DC. I would play RIDE ON... Trying to convince my father that the band had merit. Didn't really work but.... twenty years later he actually enjoyed Pearl Jam. I dunno.
😂
For all of my fellow Black Sabbath fans ---
ua-cam.com/video/096Cqsucoy0/v-deo.html
Ozzy sang this in a duet with his daughter Kelly. It gave the song a whole new meaning. Love both versions.
must watch the video with Ozzy and Kelly.
Souless cash grab
@@woahblackbettybamalam nice troll bro no ones falling for it
Charles Bradley did an unbelievable cover of this song you guys should listen to.
Old bands never stop to amaze. They can do everything.
This song has changed its meaning for me over the years, the older I get the more things change and I suppose it'll keep on changing until the end,😔✌️
Was thinking the same thing, Emily.
Volume 4 is a masterclass of riffage We have to do "Snowblind" next.
One of the best bands ever.
This is the best Black Sabbath song, too.
This is such an amazing song. If you loved this version, you must and I mean must listen to the Charles Bradley version. It is phenomenal and a live performance as well, breaks your heart listening to it
Never cared for this song, until I heard Charles Bradley sing it
And Charles Bradley was going thru changes. Saw him twice. I felt lucky then. Still do know. He'll he came off the stage walled straight out. Pretty sure I got a hand shake or a hug. It was a crazy show. Gonna have to check with friends.
Don't like the Charles Bradley version, not heartfelt and mysterious like when Ozzy sings it!
I was typing the exact same thing, I love black sabbath but the version of charles bradley is so raw that gets me everytime. I cry like a baby
RIP Charles 😪
Black Sabbath - Solitude
It's amazing how a band can go from playing Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, then to Changes, and love both in their own way! It is gutsy, brilliant, but all in all just Real life!!!
A great song - but it's made very different, and some might argue "better", by the late Charles Bradley. The live version of Charles' cover is god damn gut-wrenching, breaks me up every time. I highly recommend ya'll check it out - the backstory and context Charles gives it really makes it hit even further home.
Gone to damn soon but glad he got some recognition before he left us
I was lucky enough to see Charles perform three times. What a beautiful soul.
The documentary about him breaking through and finally achieving success so late in life was very moving and uplifting.
RIP Charles Bradley.
Charles Bradley's life story needs too be made into a movie! RIP Charles✌❤🙏
@@sonsofthesportsguy Charles was a great friend of mine the documentaries name is soul of America. He was an amazing human being
Ozzy's voice hurts my ears. nice song tho.
One of my old mates favourite songs, R.I.P Weir
I had never heard this before , this is a beautiful song, you can tell its a divorce song , they lyrics are so great and tune is so wonderful . I never thought they sang anything like this, why I never listened to them thinking they were hard metal rock
You're missing out. They have some heavy songs that hit on some heavy stuff. Try the song war pigs. Or hand of doom. I promise that the lyrical content will make you think. Cheers .🤟👍
Heavy metal always had that reputation of being loud, angry, obnoxious etc., but so many bands have moments like this. At the end of the day, we're just people too, and we hurt and certainly express that in our music. I could send you on a whole rabbit-hole of things like this. And it's the same with punk bands as well.
If you're not familiar with Sabbath's mellow side check out Planet Caravan and Solitude. Both great!
Like the psychedelich touch of the song and music✌️🤘✌️🤘✌️🤘
This song always gets me. 😪
Sabbath could never do wrong. Great toon.👍
Another song by them that is like this is Solitude, highly recommend that song
Awesome song
That first time he says I’m going through changes gets me every time, just reminds me of all the lovely women I’ve loved and lost
In 1991, I bought this album. It is a year older than me. Good choice. Hello from northeast Ohio.
Planet Caravan.
Amazing song. Like this one , but very different. You would never think its black sabbath yet its soooo uber cool.
Laguna Sunrise is a must to see another facet of Sabbath......such a beautiful piece of music!
Black Sabbath does have great ballads .
Oh! Once I had the most magical experience. Was going to my first Ozzy concert (No More Tours Tour 1992) and my parents dropped me off at the venue at about 8 am, lol. Arco Arena in Sacramento. So I was wandering around the empty venue at so early an hour, and found where the line was going to be to get in, and there was a security guard already there. I asked him how close can I get to the gate and he showed me where I could wait, first in line, lol. I sat down, lit a smoke, and after a minute or two, heard a piano. Very loud, very graceful, beautiful piano. I knew the song immediately as Vol 4 is one of my all time fav albums. It was just a tad off from the recorded version but it was definitely Changes. Then... Ozzy began singing it. Me and the security guard locked eyes for a second, and did not move as the song played. It was Ozzy doing soundcheck, and he was singing it with all his heart. A couple other people arrived to get in line behind me and none of us spoke. Time stopped. Soon, the piano was perfect note for note, Ozzys singing was perfect but definitely live and not a recording. We all just listened, about 5 of us, total strangers, at 8 am, outside the gate at Arco arena, just listening to this song. By the time the song was over we all had water in our eyes. I thought Ozzy would sing a few more, if he was doing soundcheck, but he did not. Just sang Changes and that was it. The music stopped, and we were in awe of it. That was the first time in my life that I heard Ozzy live. Could not see him because we were outside, far away from the stage where he was. He probably didn’t think anyone could hear him or would hear him that early in the morning. The concert that night was off the charts but I will never, ever forget hearing him sing Changes at soundcheck. Thank you, Ozzy. He brought beauty into my life in such an ugly, mean world. Ozzy is cool af.
Ozzy did a re release of this singing with his daughter well worth a listen
Brad, you have changed in a good way since you started this channel. Much more open and appreciate all the different types of music. Change doesn't mean bad all the time...👍❤🤙
Ozzy as usual never disappoints!!
The quiet side of sabbath. Volume 4 album. I was 14 when this came lol. My dad was like who's this? Imagine his surprise when I told him it was Black Sabbath! He was like, no way. Then I showed him the album. Far out times I miss.🤟🤟❤
Vol 4 is a great album! I had the record and played "changes" for a friend of mine! He thought I was going to play something Heavy and Hard! He seemed to be disappointed? I've always loved this song!👍✌❤🤘
my favorite Black Sabbath song. It doesnt get enough attention thank you for reacting to it!!
This is a "standing on the back porch alone the night before your daughter's wedding" -type song
Every song on the first four albums are GOLD !!!!!
Such a haunting song. Some of the most beautiful and beautifully devastated music comes from hard rock / heavy metal
Thank you so much for playing this song, it's from my generation and I remember hearing it for the first time in the 70s and I remember my girlfriend getting emotional (me too) and she said its' a not a song its someone singing poetry.
I love this song 🔥 That Chorus is Iconic 🔥🔥🔥
This is one of those songs that fits in better when listening to the whole album. It heads into "Supernaut" and it's awesome.
Also, if you like this one, then you NEED to see Charles Bradley's cover of this same song. He makes it his own, just like Johnny Cash did with "Hurt".
Two thumbs up for a Supernaut reaction next
Agreed. Back when they made albums and not just a bunch of songs.
Never heard this before. A Black Sabbath power ballad....who knew?
This is the song you sit through while you're waiting for Supernaut
The keyboard background in this pierces your soul.
Charles Bradley had a great cover to this song that you should hear. His story on why he covered it was very moving.
It is sensational!
20 yrs hearing this son and still hits me.
Geezer Butler, the bass player is playing the Mellotron on this song. Great song! Vol. 4 is a fantastic Sabbath album from 1972. 50 years old now! Damn !!!
There is a reason Ozzy is a Legend. And that reason is his voice. It has a power and tone and colour that is unmistakable
As soon as Ozzy started singing, Lex just sat right at attention! 🤣🤣 You're right Brad... I hate it when I'm having a good day and one of your favorite sad songs comes on and KILLS IT!! LOL!! We're all human man.....
Same with me , so I just put some Slayer to correct the imbalance 😹
@@catman2629 duly noted... Sounds like that'd do the trick!! 💀💀☠️☠️ SLAYER!!!!
A TOTAL Vibe & MUST HEAR Classic,,
Black Sabbath "Planet Caravan"
There is a video of them doing this live in the studio (no drummer on this) from their last tour in 2017. Very cool to watch them re-create this with both Tony and Geezer playing keyboards.
My husband danced with my daughter at her wedding, There is a version with Ozzy and his daughter that really works.
Brad/Lex, like with Zeppelin people thought Sabbath were only about hard hitting rock, but they(both) used to have one maybe two "musically lighter" tracks per album (kept people on their toes lol) another couple of Sabbath tracks for you to try are 'Fluff' and 'Space Caravan'
Planet Caravan. Another great mellow one by them is Solitude
This is the genius Tony iommi playing piano, and both he and Geezer Butler played Mellotron also.
I fel in love with it when I was very young and now I am 55 amd it still hits me I sing this song a lot love ballads
This beautiful Sabbath song kicks you square in The Feels
Speaking Of Wedding Songs,, Thousands (Including My Sister) Were Married To This ABSOLUTELY Beautiful MUST HEAR Classic,, Chicago "Colour My World"
A very different kind of song from them, but very beautiful. It's always nice when a band shows off their range a bit.
I was 13 when my heart was briken the very fisrt time. I got home from school and i heard this song for the vrry first tine. I was crying. Hit me like a train. Never going to fall in love again. !!! For a kid like me this was insane.
The live version of this song is so freaking good. Live & Loud 1993 performance, not telling you to react but you gotta listen to it!
Black Sabath "Solitude" is another good one. Also when it makes you feel what they feel the artists has done amazing job that's what music is suppposed to do when done right!!
Anyone who has loved and lost can relate to this song.
THAT'S OZZYYYYYY YOU GUYS! LOLOL 😊 LOVE HOW YOU WERE STARTLED FROM THE START! 😊 HE HAD SEVERAL MELLOW SONGS, BELIEVE IT OR NOT!
This song has always been difficult for me to listen to. I lost my pregnant fiancee, a lifetime ago, and this always brings back unwanted memories and pain. But sometimes, I choose to listen to it for that emotional relief. I enjoyed your reaction.
Their 1st album, Black Sabbath, was the 1st album I ever bought.
Beautifulness from Black Sabbath ,, I use to like to kick back and let my mind go on this tune never really made me sad instead it made me relaxed and think
Never liked the one he did with Kelly until just now.
I'm grown, my daddy is old😢😢😢😢
Too many changes.
I'm in tears here, beautiful and sad song...
This is my dad's favorite song before he passed from a herion and alcohol OD... I am not going to lie this song always makes me shed a tear and it is hard for me to cry.
Ozzy's daughter kelly said this was her favorite sabbath song. They sang a duet of it on stage together! Loved yall's analogy and feelings of the song❤
A solid song to recall and recollect memories. Had to stop before I cried, love you guys.
Eminem sampled this to great effect in Going Through Changes from his Recovery album. You should check it out, it's one of my favourites by him.
This was one of my favorites when I got vol 4 in 6th grade.
It became to mean more after caring for my wife while cancer ravaged her body until she drew her last breath.
The two of you are so focused. Y'all are in love with "Changes". Well done.
if you have never heard Charles Bradley's cover of this song you really need to check it out. it is freakin incredible! the live version I'm talking about.
Oh yes that's honestly my fave. More so than the original.
Ozzy & Kelly (His Daughter) Do A Beautiful Cover Of This Classic..It Is Well Worth A Listen.
Glad to see u guys are back. This is one of my alltime faves. Enjoy
Aw...Brad is just a softie!!
Great song by Ozzy
Yeah, the real Sabbath is not what people think. They are very talented and make beautiful music. Also try Laguna Sunrise and Solitude.
I love your reactions to some of these more obscure Sabbath tracks that get no love....they are way more than just metal
ozzy has one of the best, if not the best voice in rock, what an icon, love ozzy
This is an extremely sad but powerful and beautiful song. Black Sabbath are not only loud, they are versatile.
Always on my play list!!
I listened to your account of it.
Yes it's a funeral song, but YES, it can be a wedding song.
Just make sure the love that you know, knows that if they were without you..... you'll get it 🎉
Awe, you guys!:It's so beautifully sad. It's gonna stick in my head all day.
Agree with others, this song works bettet in the framework of the album, as a pause in the hard rock/metal tunes before and after, as opposed as a stand alone track. We always felt it was a bit sad and depressing. A better change of pace track for me is Sleeping Village, which leads into Warning, arguably Iommi's most powerful solo. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Spoken like a true Sabbath fan 🤘🏻
Loved this song from the first time I heard it and that was a long time ago
check out the version where he sings the song with his daughter...
This was released in 1972 off Black Sabbath's 4th album 'Volume 4'... I believe it was to shock people who thought that Sabbath was incapable of making a touching ballad... It was so unlike their brand of heavy rock, but like Led Zeppelin, they did not want to be pigeonholed in the category of heavy rock... Sabbath recorded "She's gone" in 1976, that was similar to this.
Decades later, Ozzy's daughter Kelly Osbourne re-recorded 'Changes' w/ Ozzy as a father/daughter duet and made it a hit single.
Thank you for sharing this with me 😊
Beautiful song in every aspect, Ozzy's voice fits perfectly
Such a good song but man always sends shivers down my spine that one & Mama I'm coming home Ossie rules
Black Sabbath was originally a blues band called 'Earth'. They have quite a bit of soulful, bluesy stuff in their catalog.
Great chill tune from the mighty Sabbath. Something about the mellotron that induces a bittersweet feeling. Even Rush added one (similar melody) to their song Tears.
Superb.
It's been a joy to watch Brad loosening up.
Haunting
❤️❤️❤️
I've had 5 strokes and through being in and out of ICU and a year in hospital. My fiance and best friend, the only person I've ever opened up to in my 42 years. She took care of me throughout, and stopped going to dr. She was having bad stomach pains one night and called a ambulance. That was the last time I seen or heard her voice, they found she had stage 5 cancer and went into acoma and died that night. Between the strokes and her passing, this song means and hits me so different than when I first heard it. Cherish every moment you have with friends and family, you never know when something is going to happen. Hope everyone reading this is healthy and well.
Another Black Sabbath tune that will catch you by surprise is "After Forever" the lyrics will surprise you....in a good way
