Brilliant presentation. Thank you for this review it really helps coming from someone who has spent $$$ and time to test many variations and give us a direct path. Plus who speak clearly and get to the point.
I’ve been checking out cello strings on UA-cam and I have to say, your cello sounds beautiful best sounding out of 25 videos. I know it’s in the hands but your instrument sounds great too. Thanks for the review. I’m going to try a set.
Nice review, thanks. I don't suppose you'd have tried D"Addario Kaplans? If so, how do they compare to Rondos? I finally tried Kaplans and after a few days, they became quite nice.
Do you still have the Magnacore set? The cello I play on now originally came with Larsen Magnacore and I really liked them. But they didn't last long. :( Send me a PM. I have a Helicore/ Jargar medium combo on my cello and it has a nice warm sound. Probably stick with that.
I’ve been thinking of trying these, or Versum Solo or Perpetual Edition, because I’m always searching for a powerful bright, gnarly sound. I currently use Evah solo with a Spiro tungsten C. My instrument is dark but very resonant and I’m always trying to brighten it up. My cello hates Larsens too but for the opposite reason (waaaay too dark and muted, even the solos)
Hi 🙂! What type of bridge does your cello have? Belgian or French model? I ask because you say (if I understand correctly) that you want a brighter sound.
Hello, I like your review and I am Rondo strings all the way on my NS Design CR5 cello. I have just replaced my Rondo A with the new Rondo Experience Cello RO41XP A String and I was totally shocked at how great this string performs vs the Rondo standard A. Have you tried the new Rondo experience A string?
Love your playing! Do you still have the same set of Rondos on your cello in January 2022? How have they lasted they lasted? I've had a set of Rondos on my cello for about six months and I think the A is showing signs of wear. But almost any A would, I guess. And I suspect my bow needs re-hairing!
I've heard they're great, but I've also heard they die extremely quickly like Magnacores. For that reason alone (nevermind that Magnacores went so badly for me) I don't think I'll be trying them.
@@dawnpoint honestly I can’t complain over the Magnacore! Had them for almost 3YEARS (C+G) with no noticeable change in quality (and as a Studio Cellist I recorded quite a lot) and only changed to perpetual edition because I got them for free and also liked them a lot :) .. but if I have to pay I think I’d still go for the magnacore because of the endurance.. “edition” starts getting less brilliant after a year now is my feeling..
@@dawnpointyeah I think I would like the Rondo a lot! BUT - i just received my set of the Il Cannone X) and I couldn’t be happier for now .. I guess my rondo time has to come a little later. I’ll write about my experiences compared to the edition a little later after they „really settled“ :)
They're Flatwound Strings alright cause the Wrap Wire is flattened before it's wrapped around the core. Flatwound strings were invented in 1874 to replace the Gut Strings on bowed stringed instruments cause 1) they last many times as long & 2) the Flat Surface makes bowing the string easier.
@@dawnpoint thanks for the answer, I have just ordered the Jargar Superior A with Versum Solo D, I hope they also fit, I also have a more bright instrument.
@UC9gG7k2tg0c8VS9ERrGd9Wg I notice you don't have fine tuners on the Tailpiece, so you've used Geared Tuners. I replaced the Friction Pegs w/ Machine Heads so it's easier to tune.
Great review. I don’t even play cello and I’m gunna get these.

that was seriously the best string review I've seen in my life! good job! please do more!
A very helpful and descriptive review. I wish you hadn’t applied reverb to the sound though.

Thanks for the review.
I’m going to try a set.
You're a very good cellist - thanks for the great review!
Thx a lot, resolved everything by which I was perplexed about this set of strings
Hello!
Have you tried Dominant Pro yet?
Nice review, thanks. I don't suppose you'd have tried D"Addario Kaplans? If so, how do they compare to Rondos? I finally tried Kaplans and after a few days, they became quite nice.

fantastic video. what is your opinion about II cannone worm and broad?
Overall are thomastik rondo's brighter or darker than versum solos? Wich one is warmer?
Thanks for the great review, very helpful!
Hey, thanks for your review! Just curious, what pieces you played during this review?
I'd be interested too.
Hi Taylor, I am curious if you have tried the Thomastik Rondo "Experience" A string yet? with this set.. opinion?
Hi, can anyone tell me what the intro song is called?

Beautiful tone.

Why the reverb ? Unless we are in a church . . . :-)
Nice one! Thanks Taylor!!
Hi Taylor, can you tell me from where I can buy this tailpiece? Thanks
Surprisingly great review! :D Wonder what you think about the ll Cannone

But Rondo looks quite interesting too!! Also I agree on the very good balance of the Edition
@@guidosc3470 Hey, if you like both Magnacore and Edition, I have to bet that you'd REALLY like Rondo. I feel like they combine the best of both!

I wonder what was done exactly to get rid of the rasp of D string? I encountered the same problem. Thx
Just letting it break it! Sounds great now!
@@dawnpoint Indeed! It magically went away after resting on my cello for a few more days. Great review you’ve made!
Do you think, one can combine the Jargar Superior A String with the Rondo D String, or are they too different?
I suspect it could work. I’ve been intending to try it but the Rondo A is still good so I haven’t gone to the effort of swapping it out.

Great video! Where did you get the Pernambuco tailpiece?
Got it from Dov Schmidt music.
oh stop it...you had me at cello!
I see a rockman pedal?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?! We need a video! Nice playing btw! :)
Holy freaking shit! These strings are expensive!!! For $400-500 they better be worth it.
Can you play heart of glass by blondie?
For you, anything is possible.
subscribed for the cello...stayed for the rockman...
Nice

Synthetic Core Cello Strings are becoming more popular because they're so soft underneath the finger tips.
The guitar stuff is better 😂
