- This is a straight up review of the brand new FeiyuTech G6 max gimbal for action cameras, smartphones and small mirrorless cameras. This gimbal can support up to 1.2kgs/2.64lbs of weight! Incredibly light weighing in at just over 1 kilogram on its own it packs a nice punch for small cameras. It can support the A7iii providing that you don't throw on crazy heavy lenses. This is a gimbal I have been looking for to support my Sony APS-C cameras. What makes this perfect is the ability to attach your action camera or smart phone if you want a second camera/ B cam.

If I was looking for a first gimbal possibly I'd go for the Max, but I have no regrets selling my G6 Plus, terrible after sale's support.Updating the gimbal through wifi and app was extremely risky as many users have had their G6 rendered inoperable, and trying to update firmware via pc or mac was mind blowing to a ridiculously complex procedure (I gave up trying) and that was after waiting forever and ever for a firmware release.
I'm much happier with the Weebill S
've been wanting this gimbal but, I've seen reports as well about firmware updates. Freezing issues require you to send it to China for a fix. I have contacted Feiyutech twice over the past two months..... I'm still waiting for an answer.
Top video just picked up an a6400 and 50mm will be purchasing this next and perhaps the sigma 16mm great review and happy to know it can manage the load with the sigma...thanks

Yes, this stabilizer is amazing! I have been thinking to have one for my pocket camera. It also works with iPhone 11. It is very steady with great quality. The setting up is a little complicated for a beginner, but one you understand it, it will be very easy. It works as it shall be. The only complain is after using a while, it will need to be adjusted a little. But again, once you familiar with it, you know how to work with it perfectly.

Hi Jason, maybe is missed it, but for an iphone 12 pro max (+lense and case) would you rather recommend the G6max or the dji om4 with a counter weight setup ?
Just purchased this gimbal and I am watching videos before I set it up. I plan to use this unit with my A6600. Initially, I will use it with my 16-50mm kit lens (I also have an 11-20mm Tamron which I might consider using). Both of these combinations appear to be well within the limits of the G6 Max payload. Should I have the OSS on the lens and the IBIS of the camera turned on or off when shooting?

hey, i have a question. Will it work with camcorders? I have sony fdr-ax53 and it's rather long compared to regular cameras. Is there enough space, esp when you film the way shown on 1:37?
Jason, need your help. Just got this gimbal for my a6000+sigma 16mm and I dont know how did you get this working. I can balance no problem with kit lens but no chance with sigma. Tilt going down all the time due to heavy lens, there is no way to ballance tilt with no modifications. I tried with max power motor. I checked your setup on video even how far each axis is tight and no chance. What did you do? :)

Hey Jason, superb review. Your footage around 7.05 had some feint lines scrolling down the screen. I had a similar issue with my Sony ZV-1 when filming in 4K 25fps in HLOG2. Do you know why it happened and how I can stop it from happening?

I really want to purchase this awesome gimbal but I have a major question. Most of our shoots are in darkness or low lighting conditions so we can not shoot without a light and I am worried that I would not be able to mount a light without messing up the balancing. Can you mount a light on the top of the camera without screwing up the balancing or maybe mount a bracket midway down the gimbal? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you! :)
depending on the weight of the light and your camera combined but the weight would be getting up there. I would suggest potentially getting a stronger gimbal
I found a bug in the firmware. When you use the knob on zoom mode and press any button on the gimbal, it does both zoom and tilt control.
Top Video! I‘m very interested to buy a light gimbal for my Sony Alpha 6500 with Sony Carl Zeiss 16-70mm F4 and Rode MicroVideo.Together all these items have a load of 803g.
On the specifications of FeiyuTech 6G Max I red that this lens is not compatible with the gimbal.
Is Carl Zeiss not supported by the gimbal and can’t be balanced?

Hi, nice review but I was lacking plenty of information about compatibility with action cameras. How about Gopro? As we know Gopro blocks 3 party products, no GP works with a selfie stick having blue tooth connection just like any phone. Does this gimbal have follow me mode? Thanks

You seemed to really move this around aggressively in a good way. Could you possible make a calibration video with a lens like the sigma. I saw 👀 you had it in video.

I use the G6 Max for my a6400. It is slightly cheaper but it does have a smaller payload. depends if you don't mind the bigger form factor of the ak2000

It would struggle with that set up to be honest. Just a little on the heavy side
How would I attached a monitor to the side of the gimbal? Is there an item I can buy for that?
I had no problem connecting to the app on my with the g6max until I updated the firmware through the app, now it won't connect anymore. I have restarted everything, re-downloaded, etc. Nothing, any advice?

Thanks for the review. How is this gimbal doing so far? Do you have any issues with it? I saw guys having issues with this gimbal after some time of use, when it starts to spin like crazy and looses balance.
I saw that video. I don't know if that was legit or not. I still use mine with the a6400 and had zero issues. I really love this gimbal for smaller cameras

the aircross is a bigger build. larger form factor. The G6 MAX is very small
So a heavier phone setup like the Note 20 Ultra with a Moment lens should be no problem for a gimbal like this.

Can you set the zoom with that side wheel on a gimbal with a6400+18-105? I saw that with Ronin SC (but you have to buy focus wheel, sold separatedly). How it works with G6 Max?
