Thank you for this video. Could you please explain why "room's natural light and size" is correct (6'32") ? "Room" is not a person, nor an animal or a time expression, so I don't understand the use of apostrophe S here.
The video is good. I knew the use of to show possession of an inanimate object ,but I am introduced to the concept of compound noun as such for the first time although I was aware of it's usage. So thank you for the exposure.
I found a couple of sentences in my english book that confuse me. The unit is about describing product features: 1. The speakers are marketed as one of the phone's best features. 2. Your phone's long-lasting battery makes it ideal for camping trips. 3. The phone's dimensions mean it's the smallest product on the market today. Why did they use 's in these sentences? The only one that makes sense to me is this one that uses "of" 4. Our customers listed the photo quality as the number one feature of our phones.
It's a great lesson, very well taught, beautiful English pronunciation, and the 95% of the video is good. The only issue is the video EDITION because it can only be seen clear enough on a computer screen not on a cellphone. I love ❤ everything you do for your audience on this channel, but I think you need to work a little bit on the edition of the videos.. Peace ✌️
I missed #6 by moving the apostrophe after the s, forgetting night is a singular noun. I did wonder about #4. Is it correct to write movies' end? And finally, on #8, if you wrote She is a very valuable team member it changes the meaning of the sentence, is that correct? I'm going to watch your video on 's and s' right now. Thanks, Jennifer, you always challenge me to keep learning and do better!
Hi, Larry! 1) It would be more common to say "movie's ending" than "movie's end." 2) "She is a very valuable team member" means the same thing as "She is a very valuable member of the team." The emphasis just shifts to "member," but the meaning is the same. :)
I have a tendency to question whatever I write but you unravel my confusion beautifully. Thanks for helping a poor English student understand the mechanics of my native language!@@SparkleEnglish
You're right! Generally, 's is used for people and animals, but there are some exceptions. It would also be perfectly fine to say "The natural lighting of the room is lovely."
Which sentence is best? a. Istanbul is the biggest city of Turkey. b. Istanbul is Turkey's biggest city. c. Istanbul is Turkeys' biggest city d. Istanbul is the biggest city in Turkey.
Sometimes we take certain liberties with English for artistic purposes. "The eye of the tiger" sounds more artistic for song lyrics. If an animal expert assessed a tiger that had a damaged eye, the expert would say "The tiger's eye is damaged" rather than "The eye of the tiger is damaged."
If u say "their opinion" in a sentence, and are talking about people, do u put an s on the end of an object that is theirs. Like saying, Forget their lame opinion Or is saying, Forget their lame opinions Since we're talking about people. If u were to use that in a sentence, but this is the sentence below: ⬇️ Honest people do what makes them happy. They wont bother or care much about what others think about them. Forget their opinion. Would u say, opinions or opinion in that sentence?

I was about to ask this question too. Thanks.
I think it is because "room natural light" or just "room natural" is not a compound word which exists.
Perfect thanks from Syria
Thank you for the lesson. I enjoyed the lesson. i was able to get 7 out of 8 correctly. Looking forward to the next lesson. Best wishes and regards! 😅
Thank you so much Mam for teaching a special lesson. I'm very glad to learn some new thing in English.

If you turn your auto-rotation on and watch in fullscreen mode, the text is very visible!
Hi there! Which is correct: We’re having Christmas at the Boyle’s , Boyles or Boyles’. thanks 😊
Hi! This can depend. Is the last name Boyle or Boyles?

@@larrymilliken288 You are very welcome, Larry! I always appreciate your enthusiasm and active participation!
The room’s natural lighting and size. Isn’t room an inanimate object?
You're right! Generally, 's is used for people and animals, but there are some exceptions. It would also be perfectly fine to say "The natural lighting of the room is lovely."
Would it be possible to say "The room natural lightning"? Without they 's?

@Sparkle English
D sounds the most natural.
What if the cat word was a plural??? I can’t distinguish
What about "the eye of the tiger" or "the eye of the beholder"? Are these expressions wrong?
