Funny! I’m Dutch myself and I love that they’re not formal. I fly business every now and then.. and formal makes me feel a bit awkward. I’m not better than any of them.
You are right about the personell. I flew European business class from AMS->OSL it was just me and another passenger in business class and I basically chatted with the flight attendant for half of the flight. For me it was very enjoyable especially since I live in Oslo and it is nice to talk Dutch sometimes 😅

Haha tbh we the dutch don’t like to be formal. you see that in most dutch companies as well there is little to no culture of hierarchy, hence, everyone is treated equal, hence there is a lack of formality. So to sum it up its just part of our culture hah

Regarding the seat controls which you find too unresponsive, they are a huge improvement to those on the 787-9 that inadvertently move your seat when your elbow brushes them - which happens all the time Also, frequent flyer status is considered when honoring meal choices.

KLM are in late compared to Air france who are already refurbushed their business cabin on their wide body fleets, the question is when KLM will refurbush exactly their business cabins on their 777 fleets?
It's a shame this great hard product isn't on their 777's. Only did longhaul on KLM in 2001, direct service to Sydney, really loved that flight. In a 747! Looks like you had a lovely flight, I would score this 8.5-9 out of 10, in it's (debatable) 4 star category it does well.

So this flight is back in 11th of December? Have you experienced the mayhem that AMS is having the past months? We arrived 4 hour’s ahead to check baggage on a KLM nonstop to SFO. By the time we got to the front of the line the flight had already departed. We booked on connecting flight through LAX to SFO , 11 hour delay. KLM is blaming security and immigration service at the airport and not that they have so few staff to check in luggage and boarding. And refusing to accept a revised refund request. They are refusing to honor the EU 204/206 rules on late arrival times especially to the USA even though they know it’s their issues and not the Airport staff. Comments???

Yeah it's because European flights are very short like 1-3 hours max. In the US domestic flights are very long. And let's not forget that we're mostly all skinny in Europe haha, yes honey.
Pro tip: Dutch food is revolting. Even in a top star restaurant, Dutch people do not eat well. Terrible for gym rats like me. BUT you can first book eco, select "Italian Hot meal" for 30 euro, then immediately upgrade to business class. You will get your ordered food AND all courses in the biz class. That provides you with a good sample of food, some of it will be okay, AND the calories an actual grown up human male needs.
How would you rate this flight from 0-10 ? I think they did surprisingly good :) How is their "partner" Air France doing? Will find out next week!

Formal interaction is not something that is highly valued in Dutch culture. The Dutch are friendly and open but above all egalitarians.

Flew KLM Amsterdam to NYC business class mid March 2024 and it was terrific ! Really good and service was excellent.
The rituals lip balm is SO GOOD. Japanese mint is just lovely.

they are already working on it as they just introduced new Premium comfort class
