I love it when the flight crew break the ice and make an effort to be social and hospitable. Makes the whole experience so much more relaxing and enjoyable.
We are getting ready to take this exact flight. Absolutely appreciated this VERY thorough review with tips about the lounge access. Loved seeing the specifics about the seat and inflight meals. Outstanding job. I also appreciate the calm music and you not chatting the whole time. Your visual commentary is by far better. Thank you.
I'm taking the exact route coming January, it was supposed to be Delta, but that flight got canceled, so now I'm gonna be on the KLM flight from LAX to AMS. Can't wait, although it will be my flight home. My experience with the KLM crew has been very pleasant. I even gpt a handwritten card on the way to America last time, so sweet ❤😊
Found it! Fantastic report my friend! You show quality and professionalism! Lots of nostalgia coming back! On the 747-400 I flew 601/602 in and out of TBIT regularly! West gate mainly! Then they introduced 2nd daily flight (603/604) with 787-10 and now reduced back to one daily flight! Well displayed! But after KLM and Air France merged the national pride has not been the same! Glad I have retired! Living in NZ in semi retirement, Best regards, Flip.
Wow KLM 747's were one of my favourites but never had a chance to fly on it unfortunately :( And yes i agree the merger kind of lost the dutch identity but the delft houses will carry on 🏠 haha wishing you all the best in NZ Flip!

This is the best information I can find about using the Delta one check-in area at LAX! I have an upcoming trip flying out of LAX to French Polynesia on Delta business class with Air France as the operating airline. I was very confused about where I should check in, Delta or Air France, and whether or not I could use the Delta one check-in area or even access the lounge with my ticket. I assume I would do the same thing you did, check in at Tom Bradley with Air France and check my bags, then head to the Delta one check-in to go through security and get to the lounge. Is that correct as far as you know? And is it fairly easy to get to the Delta one check-in area in arrivals from Tom Bradley? Thank you! Reply
Hi! So if you have bags to check through, then you have to do it at TBIT that is correct. You could head downstairs after dropping off the bag to arrivals, and make the few min walk back to Terminal 3 if you want to checkout the Delta One check-in, but might not be the most efficient thing to do 😓
@@rhondalauterbach3064 its a cool system that works out if TSA is crazy at TBIT and saves you some time. As for the lounge, I would suggest to check out the newly opening Air France lounge at TBIT!
I will be taking this exact same business class route in January! Question: For the Delta One terminal, did you already check in at the KLM desk, drop off your checked baggage, and then make your way to the Delta One terminal? Or is all the check-in required, just the online version, and can you bring your checked bags to Delta One? Thanks in advance!
You can check-in online! I was only traveling with a carry-on so I was able to just go straight through... unfortunately delta won't be able to check-in your bags for other skyTeam partners :(
Those ceramic Delft houses are interesting. How do you get these though security for your return flight being the fluid content exceeds the allowable amount.
we will be taking this same exact flight in March. Watching ur review helped me decide to book it! Thx one question, any problem checking ur bags at the delta check in? Given its a different airline and terminal. Thx
Unfortunately you won't be able to check in through Delta One but you might be able to check in at TBIT and then come back to the Delta One check in area if you want to try it out!
New to your videos. I like them, so any first class travel you do on long hauls, the better. Although, if you're going to go to the extent of scheduling a shower, you should video that too :)
The lack of Dutch heritage on the meal... That's because the Netherlands do not have a cuisine. We have some great snacks, but we do not have main dishes like Italian, French or Greek cuisine have. If we have something, it's 'stamppot' (mashed potatoes mixed with vegetables) and that's basically a peasant dish, not something you will find in Business Class, or even Economy.
What do you think of San Francisco if you don't mind me asking? I'm thinking of going there this year but some comments from people have left me undecided ,saying it's full of homeless people and has gone really downhill
meal service is average not good not bad. KLM used to have a First,Business,Eco product on board. Their "ROYAL FIRST CLASS" was outstanding. Only AF La Premiere will do
I always fly KLM business and you do not want dutch cuisine trust me xD the essential pack you got is a old one actually which is weird to me, they used to give this out in 2018 etc. they uupdated it to way better but I guess they still give it out to some flights still.
I just flew from Amsterdam to Chicago on KLM earlier this past week. The flight was on-time, plane was clean, food was okay. The thing that put a damper on the flight for me was the rudeness of the ground crew in Amsterdam. The bad attitude of the woman who received my luggage at baggage check-in...she was disrespecful and had a very condescending air about her. Once I took the long walk to Gate E20 to board the aircraft, the three women at the Gate gave new meaning to the words ill-mannered, impolite, discourteous and unpleasant. I am a frequent flyer on this airline, but the staff at Schiphol leaves a lot to be desired. The employees on the ground need to learn that they are an extention of the flying experience. KLM also has a problem of overbooking every flight and not allowing passengers to pick their seat when purchasing their tickets, as they have a habit of changing planes depending on the number of passengers on any given day. I assume it is all a part of "going Dutch" with this airline. It is like the South West of international flights.
Nice engine shot during takeoff! The seats are aesthetically nice but in closeup look a bit scuffed up around the edges. Surprised that it's a Japanese product.
KLM is only a shadow of themselves! Rude and unprofessionell flight attendants, disgusting food and most of the time something doesn't work. On my last 2 flights 5 weeks ago the seats functions were broken and the IFE didn't worked! And all that in BC for a lot of money. Every single flight becomes worse!

Be glad the menu didnt feature Dutch "cuisine". Its very bland and hearty. Probably a lot to do with austere Protestant culture and its notion that food is for nourishment and not entertainment. Pea soup, fried or smoked fish, and potatoes with veggies and meat, like a meatball or smoked sausage is what to expect. And of course cheese, but thats simply eaten on bread as a sandwich for lunch, so hardly suited for a business class style meal, However you can eat very exciting and delicious in the Netherlands in the form of Indonesian and Surinamse.
