If anyone at WOTC reads these comments, I just want to say that Grenzo is the single least enjoyable commander to play against I've come across in a little over a year of playing this game. Being heisted every turn is already really rough, but getting to cast the opponent's spells for free is absolutely broken. The fact that heist only looks at non-land cards in the opponent's deck means they're going to almost always get some significant value each time Grenzo triggers. Not being able to see what they took is also such a shitty part of the mechanic. 9/10 times if I don't have instant removal in the first two turns Grenzo is on the board it's game over. Grenzo makes the game un-fun for me and a lot of other people I've talked to. If I'm queued up against a Grenzo I just leave immediately every time now, which is at least 3/5 people in my queues lately. Please nerf this card or put him in hell queue.
I'm not usually one to complain about Alchemy cards, but a six-mana One with the Multiverse that draws guaranteed spells every turn with card selection and discounts on your opponent's turn in the command zone with a 6/4 body seems like A Bit Much.
Think hitting the verdant rejuvination Is the second best ever possible noncreature Spell je could have hit, omniscience being the best i think. Ulamog, emrakul also insane but yea, pretty nuts 😂
@@user-sd1xx6qr7b Omniscience isn't generally that good unless your deck is specifically built to refill your hand as you play.
at least it moves the gamestate forward. you havent run into the new nashi alchemy, where its essence flux and counterspell every turn, for a super fun 45 minute durdle fest.
@@krimhorn I mean how easy is it for you to cast a draw spell for free once Omniscience is out? It's pretty freaking easy. That "drawback" you pointed out is kind of a non-drawback

This for the love of god. I hate how much Alchemy cards circumvent traditional rules of MTG in frustrating ways. The virtual advantage from cards that conjure or draft already cheapens the concept of resource management to a ridiculous degree. This new Grenzo is the cream of the crop in terms of unapologetic unfun design.
Glad to see another Omnath player in the wild, even with the nerf you get matched against these absurd alchemy commanders :)
If you want to beat Grenzo consistently, might I suggest Go-Shintai of Life's Origin or any other Synergy commander? When they take little pieces that mean nothing without the whole, Grenzo falls apart. Or at least I have a lot of fun playing against Grenzo, but that's usually because I can beat them.
Heist is wayy too good.
Nerf should be some mix of:
1.Show what's stolen (you can just figure it out I guess anyway)
2. Make some cost to activate the ability (sacrifice, mana, etc)
3. Make it an activation upon attack or combat damage, not just an upkeep trigger. Maybe give him haste/menace to balance it.
4. Make the first heist free, but upkeep heists have a payment
5. Add "until the end of your turn" to the effect.
6. On upkeep, pay X life, you may heist and pay 0 for cards with value X or less and only once per turn
7.Make it an attack trigger with exert
8. Make it conditional on an opponent losing life/a creature dying
9. Give it a "collect evidence" cost of sorts
10. Give it a burden counter for each activation/stolen card played
11. Let opponents sacrifice instead of allowing the cost to be 0. If they can't sacrifice, then let it happen
12. Make heist target the top x cards of a library instead of the whole thing
13.let the opponent choose what's heisted
14. Give opponents the chance to "pay taxes" instead of letting you heist. (Pay life, pay mana, give treasures, give non-creature cards)
15. Let him heist your hand twice instead of your library once
16. Let him make a 1/1 Grunt Thief token that activates the ability upon damage kind of like ragavan.

Grenzo is almost single-handedly ruining the format. Needs to be nerfed, there is no reason it should be able to play a card for free every turn.
Simple, counter tf outta him. Nothing to heist if he never hits the field

Which is something I do, when I run blue decks. But not every deck I enjoy playing is blue. And running blue also doesn't work if they have Cavern of Souls.
On white you cant tax grenzo and with green you ramp fadter than rakdos

Grenzo single handedly brought me back to MTG. Even when I lose I have the most fun I've ever head using him. Super fun card.
