Title for title would have been horrible. Fans were already fed up with Roman having both the Universal & WWE titles to the point the WWE merged them into the Undisputed title and brought back the World title for RAW. And you think having 1 man hold even more titles was a good idea? And fans wanted Cody to finish his story. People were PISSED when Cody gave his Royal Rumble spot to the Rock, hell people boo'd the Rock to the point WWE had to turn Rock heel. Rock VS Roman I'm sure is a money match, but WM40 wasn't Rock's time, it was Cody's time. I do agree Cody may have cooled off since WM40-now, as everybody pretty much expects Cody's title is at absolutely 0 risk until Rock comes back. But still in the moment building up to Mania, Cody was on fire. Ultimately things worked out. It may have taken a while but Damian Priest has gotten over. LA Knight is already over and the US title is fine for him. But the MITB, World title, and face turn against Judgement Day has done more to get fans behind Priest then it ever would have done for LA Knight. I see LA as pretty much a made man, he was already over and he'll probably always be over. But Priest was in need of being built up, he needed MITB more then LA, and WWE succeeded in their plan.
Priest wasn't built correctly. To get someone over, you have to give them good booking, give them strong character development, making them menacing in the ring. If they get over, put a mid-card title on them. If they get more over, then put the world title on them. Damian didn't get over until he lost the title. Now that he's being presented correctly, it's evident in Raw's ratings. As for LA Knight, he peaked. No way will he ever compete for the world title again. WWE dropped the ball on LA Knight and now he only he 3 years left. He'll never be at that level where he is main event material. Yes, Cody's "Finish the story" angle could have been better if they didn't push him right at his return in the 2023 Royal Rumble. He needed to be built more, not be on TV every single week, not wrestle every single week at the time. The full time "fighting champion" gimmick is failing. That's why it should have been a slow build instead of an instant push at the 2023 Royal Rumble. If it's Gunther last year, who else would have been the logical choice against Roman? Because Gunther was ready, Cody wasn't. Hell, Gunther is getting ratings up as world champion on Raw. Think about that. That goes to show you that Gunther is the better champion in WWE.
When taking the whole "We're The Authority" thing legitimately when all it was, was nothing more than the publicity stunt, practically admitting their product was shit, and that it was a last ditch effort to boost their ever tanking ratings. It was, and still is to this day, the single bullshit lie they ever fucking pulled. in may/june of 2023, Vince re took control of creative with reports of his calling in right before the show making them do last minute changes and burying talent. HHH liked LA but VM did not. Vince made him a model and HHH turned him back into knight. Vince came back and got rid of knight. when sexual allegations got rid of Vince, HHH brought back LA. HHH has only had full control of creative once Vince lost control of WWE. That is a major point you do not address. HHH has made mistakes but he is doing better once the strings were cut

How can you say that Triple H booked a Wrestlemania rematch that nobody cared about when the fans literally hijacked the shows chanting and posting #WeWantCody the fans didn't want Roman vs Rock because it was Cody's time, and NOBODY wanted Rollins vs Rhodes. Exactly. Jade Cargill's booking was the only highlight of Tony Khan in AEW.. In WWE, Jade not only has been exposed, but she did segments that devalued her as a character. Why Jade was not in NXT to craft her character is a spit in the face of wrestlers that learned character development.

But I guess fickle fans can't handle criticism and will dismiss examples by pulling the hypocrisy card, "you don't know them in real life" card, "you don't know what goes on backstage" card, "you never watched wrestling until now" card, etc. Meanwhile, casuals that used to wrestling fans just change the channel or go to streaming services and not miss anything important.
I guess "Boomer Butthole" wouldn't be allowed on television back in 1998. Because Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and X-Pac were the biggest a-holes in the company at the time.
When the 1989-92 Jim Herd era of WCW exists, no one could ever be worse! Sure. there were some great things like Flair's feuds with Funk and Steamboat, but just to name a few absolutely horrible gimmicks that they had at that time, you had the Ding-Dongs, Oz, The Black Scorpion, Norman the Lunatic, the Dynamic Dudes and the list goes on and on, plus horrible gimmick matches like the Chamber of Horrors or the capture the flag scaffold match from Great American Bash 1991. Those shows were truly terrible in a way that we'll hopefully never see again. Try watching some shows from that time and today's WWE shows don't look nearly as bad in comparison. Then, you have the bookers like Nick Gulas, who drove his fans away by pushing his untalented son George above everyone else on his cards, or Verne Gange, who in the late 80's and very early 90's drove himself out of business by refusing to change anything about the presentation of his shows and like Gulas, thought that his son (in spite of him never getting over, no matter how hard he was pushed) needed to be the focus of the cards (along with his old friends that were more than ripe for retirement by that point), and where they fall in that whole spectrum is up for debate as well. Not to mention that Triple H isn't a booker in the classic sense of the word, like Bill Watts or Jerry Jarrett were back in their day, he's the head of a creative team which is a completely different kind of role. A booker books the entire show by themselves, Triple H just takes the ideas of others and picks and chooses which ones that he wants to use. Even in terms of the WWE, I'll take this era over the dreadful Raw guest host era any day of the week!
If Triple H executed his stuff correctly like he did in 2022, I would have not made this video. But even the most objective wrestling fans know that Triple H cannot hack in terms of a good story. His NXT darlings from the original Black and Gold are not ratings draws. Sami Zayn was almost over with the casuals, then he lost in Montreal. So WWE gave Sami a consolation prize with KO in the form of the tag team titles. It was a failed title reign. As for Cody Rhodes, they built him up way too quickly, resulting in a loss at WrestleMania 39. If they slow built Cody and made him wait, the crowd would have been on his side more. But they f&%^ed up last year, now his title reign as the face of the company is horrible. I don't know when Triple H exactly went downhill, but I want to believe it started at WrestleMania 39 Night 2. Omos vs Brock Lesnar as the opener and Asuka losing to Bianca Belair was the start of this mess.
@@MisterBourgolini Not that I don't agree with a few of your points, but the title of the video is still a big exaggeration, when you compare today's WWE to many of the promotions of the past and even the dark history of WWE itself. I started watching WWE (or WWF, as it was then called) in 1989 and trust me, the shows that they put on today aren't nearly as bad as many of them were back then. Granted, it's also a little like comparing apples to oranges, but when I think back to horribly racist gimmicks like Yokozuna or Saba Simba, I'm all kinds of glad that we've moved on from a time when the presentation of colored wrestlers as the worst kind of stereotypes was seen by the company as acceptable. Another name that it's easy to bring up is Adrian Adonis and his gay gimmick in the mid 80's that I honestly cringe at, when I think back on it today, How many innocent gay people (or even suspected gay people) were bullied and harassed by others thanks to them being taught from childhood by WWF TV that viewing minorities in that way was okay, we'll never know. but I have no doubt that there were many and at least today, they try to be respectful (I didn't say that they always succeed!) and not spread blatant hate in the name of profit. Doing that to me is so many times worse than having Cody, Roman or Gunther or any of their wrestlers, for that matter, lose in a match that they perhaps shouldn't have or getting booked against the wrong opponents. On a much lighter note, I could also have mentioned the old USWA and Jerry Lawler's fondness for comic book-based heel gimmicks that in most cases were far more hilarious to look at than they were scary! You can find many of those clips and shows on UA-cam and yeah, they're really, really, really bad! That's what I would call bad booking!

When Triple H gets released, I'll give WWE another chance. It's only a matter of time before TKO gives Triple H his release. It's time someone from Hollywood steps in to book the shows. Take notes from the Hogan era of WWE, give wrestlers a character, fire the writers, give wrestlers bullet points on what to say. The promos in wrestling today are so scripted, wrestlers can't camouflage it. No matter the negative comments, they stay up on this video. I'm not turning off comments just because.

Hmm. I'll give you LA Knight (kind of) but don't agree with the rest of this at all. My only problem with Triple H's booking is how predictable it is, but even that isn't really a problem. He's a KISS booker, It's only predictable because he goes with the most logical decisions 99% of the time. That lack of creativity/outside the box thinking is more than compensated for by his rational approach to booking.

Title for title would have been horrible. Fans were already fed up with Roman having both the Universal & WWE titles to the point the WWE merged them into the Undisputed title and brought back the World title for RAW. And you think having 1 man hold even more titles was a good idea?
And fans wanted Cody to finish his story. People were PISSED when Cody gave his Royal Rumble spot to the Rock, hell people boo'd the Rock to the point WWE had to turn Rock heel. Rock VS Roman I'm sure is a money match, but WM40 wasn't Rock's time, it was Cody's time. I do agree Cody may have cooled off since WM40-now, as everybody pretty much expects Cody's title is at absolutely 0 risk until Rock comes back. But still in the moment building up to Mania, Cody was on fire.
Ultimately things worked out. It may have taken a while but Damian Priest has gotten over. LA Knight is already over and the US title is fine for him. But the MITB, World title, and face turn against Judgement Day has done more to get fans behind Priest then it ever would have done for LA Knight. I see LA as pretty much a made man, he was already over and he'll probably always be over. But Priest was in need of being built up, he needed MITB more then LA, and WWE succeeded in their plan.
Priest wasn't built correctly. To get someone over, you have to give them good booking, give them strong character development, making them menacing in the ring. If they get over, put a mid-card title on them. If they get more over, then put the world title on them. Damian didn't get over until he lost the title. Now that he's being presented correctly, it's evident in Raw's ratings. As for LA Knight, he peaked. No way will he ever compete for the world title again. Yes, Cody's "Finish the story" angle could have been better if they didn't push him right at his return in the 2023 Royal Rumble. He needed to be built more, not be on TV every single week, not wrestle every single week at the time. The full time "fighting champion" gimmick is failing. That's why it should have been a slow build instead of an instant push at the 2023 Royal Rumble. If it's Gunther last year, who else would have been the logical choice against Roman? Because Gunther was ready, Cody wasn't.
Hell, Gunther is getting ratings up as world champion on Raw. Think about that. That goes to show you that Gunther is the better champion in WWE.
When taking the whole "We're The Authority" thing legitimately when all it was, was nothing more than the publicity stunt, practically admitting their product was shit, and that it was a last ditch effort to boost their ever tanking ratings.
It was, and still is to this day, the single bullshit lie they ever fucking pulled. And to have Baron Corbin as Vince's scapegoat for being a "terrible GM" was incredibly poor take when everyone knew it was always Vince's booking to begin with.

in may/june of 2023, Vince re took control of creative with reports of his calling in right before the show making them do last minute changes and burying talent. HHH liked LA but VM did not. Vince made him a model and HHH turned him back into knight. Vince came back and got rid of knight. when sexual allegations got rid of Vince, HHH brought back LA. HHH has only had full control of creative once Vince lost control of WWE. That is a major point you do not address. HHH has made mistakes but he is doing better once the strings were cut

Do I think he’s the best book ever? No, but to be fair to him we haven’t even seen him book for a full year yet. One of the biggest things WWE has dropped. The ball on the last two decades is creating real superstars. All their main event guys felt like they were force-fed or nerd fans just put them in a position because they hated who they were being force fed and then after they got to that position, the fans abandoned them.
Triple H is the only active Booker right now. That knows how it should be done. Now it’s just a matter of seeing if he can pull it off. Like the great wrestling Boom of the 90s it didn’t just happen overnight. Hogan and Flair just wake up one day and go to wrestling school and six months later they were the two dominant wrestlers of the 80s.

2. Here's the difference between Khan, Herd, and Russo compared to Triple H. Khan was good in the beginning because the Executive VPs of AEW were filters. That was why the first two years of AEW was good. Herd tried to innovate at a time where WCW needed something innovative. Problem is that he did not execute his storylines correctly. Plus, he was dealing with a locker room full of egotistical wrestlers. And Vince Russo tried to create storylines for every single talent. Some worked, others did not. But at least these bookers did not deliberately sabotage storylines. Khan, Herd, and Russo were just idiots. Triple H deliberately ruined careers.

Agreed. There was a reason why Vince McMahon didn't want Io Shirai on the main roster. They had her leave WWE so she could return to Japan. Bayley's heel turn under Vince was captivating. Rhea Ripley was good in Judgment Day, but Triple H botched it. Another issue is that they are too prosperous financially for their own good. All of the guaranteed money from USA, now Netflix, Fox, Saudi Arabia, WWE Network, and Peacock makes it so that they don't have to sell a single tickets, PPVs, or merchandise to stay in business. Look what happened to the Covid-19 years when there was no fans. They are horrendously complacent.
Stardust may be a star in some people eyes, but he isn't any super star by any stretch of imagination. Triple H's mistake is putting too much faith in Stardust. If he really wanted to put to title on Stardust, he should had done so at Wrestlemania 39 instead of wasting another year of television.

When the 1989-92 Jim Herd era of WCW exists, no one could ever be worse! Sure. there were some great things like Flair's feuds with Funk and Steamboat, but just to name a few absolutely horrible gimmicks that they had at that time, you had the Ding-Dongs, Oz, The Black Scorpion, Norman the Lunatic, the Dynamic Dudes and the list goes on and on, plus horrible gimmick matches like the Chamber of Horrors or the capture the flag scaffold match from Great American Bash 1991. Those shows were truly terrible in a way that we'll hopefully never see again. Try watching some shows from that time and today's WWE shows don't look nearly as bad in comparison.
Then, you have the bookers like Nick Gulas, who drove his fans away by pushing his untalented son George above everyone else on his cards, or Verne Gange, who in the late 80's and very early 90's drove himself out of business by refusing to change anything about the presentation of his shows and like Gulas, thought that his son (in spite of him never getting over, no matter how hard he was pushed) needed to be the focus of the cards (along with his old friends that were more than ripe for retirement by that point), and where they fall in that whole spectrum is up for debate as well.
Not to mention that Triple H isn't a booker in the classic sense of the word, like Bill Watts or Jerry Jarrett were back in their day, he's the head of a creative team which is a completely different kind of role. A booker books the entire show by themselves, Triple H just takes the ideas of others and picks and chooses which ones that he wants to use.
Even in terms of the WWE, I'll take this era over the dreadful Raw guest host era any day of the week!
If Triple H executed his stuff correctly like he did in 2022, I would have not made this video. But even the most objective wrestling fans know that Triple H cannot hack in terms of a good story. His NXT darlings from the original Black and Gold are not ratings draws. Sami Zayn was almost over with the casuals, then he lost in Montreal. So WWE gave Sami a consolation prize with KO in the form of the tag team titles. It was a failed title reign. As for Cody Rhodes, they built him up way too quickly, resulting in a loss at WrestleMania 39. If they slow built Cody and made him wait, the crowd would have been on his side more. But they f&%^ed up last year, now his title reign as the face of the company is horrible. I don't know when Triple H exactly went downhill, but I want to believe it started at WrestleMania 39 Night 2. Omos vs Brock Lesnar as the opener and Asuka losing to Bianca Belair was the start of this mess.

I started watching WWE (or WWF, as it was then called) in 1989 and trust me, the shows that they put on today aren't nearly as bad as many of them were back then. Granted, it's also a little like comparing apples to oranges, but when I think back to horribly racist gimmicks like Yokozuna or Saba Simba, I'm all kinds of glad that we've moved on from a time when the presentation of colored wrestlers as the worst kind of stereotypes was seen by the company as acceptable.
Another name that it's easy to bring up is Adrian Adonis and his gay gimmick in the mid 80's that I honestly cringe at, when I think back on it today, How many innocent gay people (or even suspected gay people) were bullied and harassed by others thanks to them being taught from childhood by WWF TV that viewing minorities in that way was okay, we'll never know. but I have no doubt that there were many and at least today, they try to be respectful (I didn't say that they always succeed!) and not spread blatant hate in the name of profit.
Doing that to me is so many times worse than having Cody, Roman or Gunther or any of their wrestlers, for that matter, lose in a match that they perhaps shouldn't have or getting booked against the wrong opponents.
On a much lighter note, I could also have mentioned the old USWA and Jerry Lawler's fondness for comic book-based heel gimmicks that in most cases were far more hilarious to look at than they were scary! You can find many of those clips and shows on UA-cam and yeah, they're really, really, really bad! That's what I would call bad booking!

When Triple H gets released, I'll give WWE another chance. It's only a matter of time before TKO gives Triple H his release. It's time someone from Hollywood steps in to book the shows. Take notes from the Hogan era of WWE, give wrestlers a character, fire the writers, give wrestlers bullet points on what to say. The promos in wrestling today are so scripted, wrestlers can't camouflage it. No matter the negative comments, they stay up on this video. I'm not turning off comments just because.

Hmm. I'll give you LA Knight (kind of) but don't agree with the rest of this at all.
My only problem with Triple H's booking is how predictable it is, but even that isn't really a problem. He's a KISS booker, It's only predictable because he goes with the most logical decisions 99% of the time. That lack of creativity/outside the box thinking is more than compensated for by his rational approach to booking.
That's actually a good point that I could have pointed out. Triple H is a predictable booker, but he's not creative. That's why we talk about Vince Russo being creative in WWE.

Logical progression up the card for wrestlers (LA Knight's the sticky exception), natural face & heel alignments dependent on crowd reaction, the belts all feel important, TV always builds to the big shows & never the other way round... all basic principles but ones numerous bookers throughout history have failed to uphold.
I may not agree with you 100%, especially on HHH being a bad booker.
But your narrative and vision are actually good and somewhat valid if they went that way in a different dimension.
The most lucid and objective comment thus far. Yes, even a good booker can have illogical moments. I'm not saying be perfect, but do you best to make the fans in the arena electric. Good booking, good storytelling, and good wrestling is what gets the crowds popping.

Triple H is not the reason why WWE is making money hand over foot. It's because of Nick Khan's ruthless business deals. I will give Nick Khan his due. Without him, WWE would have been forced to fire a record number of employees, talent, and even executives. WWE would have been forced to privatize to survive. Nick Khan and TKO are why WWE is making money. Triple H is just booking.

Where is he selling out at? Because I heard reports that nosebleed seats are tarped off on the hard cam. The only places that sell out are in European countries because people in the states are tired of wrestling. Bad booking equals tarped off nosebleeds.
@@MisterBourgolini The Wrestling Observer has talked about WWE selling out arena after arena except for house shows, and PLE's especially so, it's falling in line with what WWE actually claims. Back in 2019 that wasn't the case. There were people actually taking photos of venues with those seats roped off and blacked out on Twitter, really regularly. Crowds were so angry that they were yelling refund and chanting things like AEW and CM Punk.... FIVE YEARS after he left.
So feel free to paste some evidence about non sold out arenas at tv tapings and ples.
My suggestion is if you don't like the product, don't watch it. That's what I did with WWE for the better part of a decade (except for a few mos in 2019 or so) The product is hot now. Go watch the old shitty PG era crap with Super Cena, hot shot short champ runs which were garbage and cheapens belts and nonsensical crap storylines on peacock.
