I find Sony's APSC line up confusing and full frame line up very well sorted. Your priority is photography only get A7r*. Not enough fps? Get A9*. For videography? A7s*. Hybrid shooter? A7* , need something small for travelling but want full frame quality? Get A7c. You are rich and you just want a camera that does everything? A1. Decide what you need and save up for it. Get a used camera if your budget doesn't stretch that far. Simple.
Facts!!
Wow this comment. Thanks
Yeah, I'm waiting on them to make a sony version of the Fuji xt4. Considering they make the sensor for that thing. A positive sign may be that they released the Fx30.
Video: Fx30, ZV E10
Photo: A6600, A6400 (I know these are hybrids but that slow-ish sensor/processsor limits both―but more on video)
Premium Hybrid: (Please! The FX30 without a fan & with a mechanical shutter & viewfinder would have worked)
Budget options: A lot of them.
They are good 2nd cameras though, for people who already got the full frame glass. I don’t have a 2nd camera, but I am tempted by that use case because they cost significantly less.
For a first time purchaser maybe not much.
Best comment ever 👌🏻
What a useful video! Even if someone cannot afford the high-end cameras, many UA-cam videos nowadays are very good, but they create a stage for every camera, leaving people like me who are on a budget, always having a feeling that we are missing out on the best there is. But your video feeds clarity and truth and adds pride to the crop sensor cameras that the majority of the people own. Thanks a lot Manny!
👍
Definitely a necessary video, and very informative. Thank you sir! It makes it easy to have a mind for a good kit as a photographer who is back and forth with picture and video clients. Having multiple cameras is a thing, but knowing which ones to have is a must. This gave me some clarity. I appreciate you.
Great video, thanks Manny! And your studio looks awesome.
Being moderately new to cameras it's still so much information there's so much out there thank you so much for making this amazing video
Manny… truly one of my favorite channels. Being from Chicago and now living in Japan I appreciate your perspective. You’re not a pompous ass like the many out there.
I still rock my A7riii and I think the camera is the sweet spot. I don’t do much video but love the image quality still coming out of it.
thank you so much for your take, I was so confused with the fx30 as well!
This was really helpful! Thanks Manny!
Thanks for the overview. Obviously SONY oriented but interesting how they have carved up the market and satisfy every niche. Very informative. I don't even want to throw GH6 and XHS into the mix or I'll never be able to make up my mind :)
Awesome review. I like to keep up with the news. Thanks.
I just received the Zve10 today, I'm so happy!
Great very informative video. Thanks for sharing!
This was a perfect description of the possibilities. Thank you!!! All my cameras are really old. I still get good images, but I want something to grow with. I'm just starting to take payed gigs and I want to better insure good quality for my clients. I also want to learn more about making videos so I need something for that. Of course, within my budget. This is the first UA-cam video that made my choices clear. I'm now saving up for the A7 iv. I can also see the FX30 in my near future. Been a fan of your channel and your Ig for a while now. Absolutely love your images! Thanks, for all your hard work.
This video helps so much. Thank You :)
This was super helpful thank you. Subbed
Thanks for the info. It was very helpful!
Awesome Video! Super helpful!
To the point! Awesome priceless opinions. TY!
Thank you brotha you made this so simple
I own the a6400 and I still love it! 💪💪 the eye auto focus is very good!!
out of all the videos I watched your video was VERY helpful and really allowed me to think. I was considering ZV-E10 for my budget but after watching this video I may wait and upgrade ...
I have been following Manny for years, and as usual, I find his reviews well-thought-out and spot-on. It also helps that he is a damn good photographer! I am primarily a photographer, and after years of shooting professionally using the A7R series 1-4, I needed something that isn't insanely high resolution and has enough video capability for my purposes. The a74 seems to be the camera for me.
i am 100% along those lines... and after reading SO MANY reviews and watching videos, your comment is going to move the long awaited needle for my switch from a7R3 to a74 :)
love ths video! sony makes some top notch cameras
I use my Sony a6400 for everything. Photography, Filmmaking, & Social media. This camera is a beast for the price, I use a cine bloom filter for photography+ capture one and that does the trick when it comes to color science.
What lenses do you run on the A6400 for photography?
@@guystokes454 Sigma 30mm 1.4 for all photography.
@@blackentrepreneur244 not bad, that lens definitely gets a lot of usage from me with my setup.
Super helpful video thank you!
Great review thanks. I am a photo stills only guy. Currently have an A7iii and 20, 28, 35, 55 and 85 (all 1.8/2.0) primes and a 70 ~ 200 zoom f4. You have convinced me my next step is the A7iv. Always enjoy your videos. Good ideas and tips.
good idea i'm supper happy with it
This is what I was looking for, I don’t shoot video, I only shoot photos and love my A7iii but itching for something else
Hi, I’m from the UK and I’ve been looking for a camera. This video has came in handy, thank you!! ✌️☺️
Great recommendations!!
I currently have the a7iii and I didn't think I'd end up buying another camera but I saw a deal for the lumix s5 with 3 lenses for about $1800. I was tempted by the FX30 but considering the lenses which came with S5 which I needed anyway, and it's full frame and I don't need to buy CFexpress cards, it makes sense.
I use the A9 with 2470 Sigma Art Lens, Sony 85 f/1.8, Sony 90 f/2.8 Macro, 200-600. 35 f/1.4 Sigma Art Lens. I also use the LAEA3 adapter with A-Mount lenses: Sigma Art Lens 35 f/1.4, Sigma Art Lens 24-105 f/4 & Sony 70200G2 f/2.8 They feel and perform like native lenses with the A9.
Man cameras are so confusing to me , Thankfully your Channel helps me break down all of this and understand it better!
Thanks Manny
as a wedding photographer and videographer, I use an a7siii for video and 2x a7iv for photo/video hybrid. Planning to buy a FX3 sometime soon as my main video camera, and the a7siii becomes a B-cam. Pretty happy with this combo so far :)
Wait, wouldn't it be more convenient if you had a camera that would do it all? Or thats not how it works? I'm asking because if I was doing what you are doing, I'd get a camera that can do it all, but of course within your budget.
@@alfredschnozzenstein1657 for weddings you want multiple cameras for different angles of the same shot
@@geedunk13 Ah, understood. I was looking at it from a different perspective, but I see what you mean.
Best recommendations! Sony sure does look interesting!
Thank you 😊 for this video ❤
Great video, really helpful. I can't decide between the A7 IV and A7R III. Being someone that has used them both, how much better is the autofocus on the IV?
I'm Looking to purchase the Sony A7iv within the next month or so and watching your videos on it has solidified my decision to purchase it Thank You Manny
Bro! I really appreciate this. I'm looking for a full frame video camera to upgrade from my A700. So many great Sony cameras. I have the Nikon d850 with full frame sensor but for video autofocus it just doesn't cut it.
Good info! THX!
Great review. I have a A5000 and A7C love them.
I still think the best camera for the money hands down is a used Sony a9. I picked one up for $1800 and the auto focus is incredible. Night and day difference from a7iii, I haven’t used the a7iv yet though.
Manny great video as usual. I’m looking to upgrade from a6000 to a7iv. My question to you is what portrait lens do you recommend to compliment the a7iv and/or all around lens.TIA!
I still have my a7iii and use it faithfully. It still works great. No need to change
Great video! Will you do something similar with Nikon and Canon?
Thanks for this
good night
Wow well done video.
Great advice bro! The A1 is definitely my all time favorite mirrorless camera. It would have been perfect if it had a flip screen 😬👌
I'm a wedding photographer who uses A9 A7iv combo. Both great be neither perfect. If they come out with A9iii with 33mp and a silent shutter you can use flash with like the A1 that would be a dream wedding camera.
I love photography 🥰 so that's why I always keept watching this Chanel video , having a camera like this is very awesome , specially going somewhere, but I can't afford it, but I do always watching like this video because it was so fun , and great and more explore. Than we thought, and i wish I could have one like that soon 🥰
great information
thanks for the advice
Will you be getting the A7rV when it is announced this month?
I just moved to sony from m43. I went for a beat up used a9. The camera looks rough but I always go for function over looks. It shaved a big penny off the price tag vs a clean used a9. Camera functions great still. For wildlife/sports I'm blown away by the performance. Only thing I don't like are the ergonomics. Olympus em1 series just feel so good in the hands.
I also just left MFT. Been shooting Olympus since 2013. Bought the Nikon D850 two days ago at the new $2496 price and wow these images are stunning.
Why did you move from 43? Asking because I love 43 and was asking how much difference it makes 🤔
Hey Manny
your video is great and pretty comprehensive .
i am confused regarding Budget range.
I need a budget photography camera . more towards portrait photography .
you think Sony ZvE10 can do a decent job for a beginner ? as compared to a6400
love my a7iii - still a beast!
hi thanks for the great vid
which one do you think is better, Fujifilm X-T3 OR Sony ZV-E10?
I subscribed once I heard adhd friendly, directly jumps into prices and features. MVP!
Still rocking the a6500. It’s killing it. Want the fx3 tho
I'm still shooting the a6000 and a7r2. Love them both. If I had more disposable income, I definitely would replace my a6000 with a6400. The a7r2 is still an amazing machine, especially if you can find it for $1500 new.
I have been shooting photos for about 6 or 7 months and I have a Canon 90D and I've been thinking about upgrading to a Canon R6. I thought about switching to Sony but I'm not sure about their menu selection/layout.
A7IV such a beast of a camera. Got an honor to use it for my daily for a month. Loved every minute of it for photography, live streaming, and videos
Hi!!! do you do the title animations yourself? ❤ Thanks for the rec!
On the a6400, just add a SmallRig cold shoe on the left side of the camera to hold the mic; problem solved. You should add the camera model to the specs lists you display. Would be helpful!
Thank you for your channel
When the Sony A7iii came out EVERYBODY was jumping on that camera! Even Canon users that were jumping into mirrorless were buying the Sony A7iii, but I knew Canon would release a better version of the Canon EOS R (Canon R6 and R5), so thankfully I waited. 😅
Me coming to canon to a7iv
i still like my sony more :)
Went from a 30D to 5D Mark III to a SONY A7III and shot a lot of wedding with it. Shot side by side with someone shooting an R5 and they let me use and try it and it was horrible. It was so slow, it missed so many shots, way to much noise. My buddy who had to edit all the photos had to dump most of the Canon photos because they were out of focus, to much noise etc.
You forgot, you’ll be drooling when the r6 ii comes out .” Switching back to canon “ I can shoot with what ever I want yeah right .
This video confused the Sh!t out of me!!😂😂😂Great video as always!!..
Bought a A7r II as my first camera last month, it's great all I need as a beginner for photography and videography, I'm sure it's enough for the first couple of gigs.
I hated the battery life
@@takoflame4948 well I got 7 with it, so it's not that bad
@@easternwind4435 Ive had two sony A7r2, great cameras -- though i charge mine after ever use. My Nikon D750 could go for months without charging.
I just got one thanks for this comment
Any thoughts on the new 70~200 f2.8? Is it a big step from the current f4?
Where would you put the A7R V?
It's a little more pricey, but would you consider it a better hybrid than the A7IV, giving you can down the megapixels, if you don't wanna shoot at 61?
I went from Canon 6D to A6300 to D700 to D300s to A7 IIII to X-Pro2 to now using Panasonic G9 as my main camera and GX80 as my small daily camera. Combine them with Sigma 16/30/56mm F1.4 lenses, DxO PureRaw app and you have a hard to beat combo. I don’t miss fullframe at all and I have a ruggid camera packaged of features that just literally works even for professional work.
I am still shooting with the a6300 with three lenses and saving for the a1 the 6300 is my going back packing and my go pro to record my fun times I want Sony to give an update for the new color science that’s is available for the new cameras but I don’t think it’s going to happen I still love it
Sony a7c is incredibly solid. Looking for a new revision of it for sure
You almost made nervous for buying an A74 Manuelito. A74 all the way. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤️❤️❤️
For real, the FX30 is an amazing value at under $2k. Love my A7iv but picking up fx30 for b roll, second camera and 120 fps
I just can't make up my mind on a good all round lens for ZV E-10. I'm using it for photo and music videos. Thoughts?
Thanks brody, you think the a6600 and afx30 a good combination?
I love my A7c for its form factor and want Sony to perfect it with the next release! I think the viewfinder comfort really depends on your eye socket shape.
Preach
a7c is great camera , picture quality is better than a7iii..
Would you say the a7c is good for photography? i.e portraits?
@@vlogsw_ayesha Yes,as long as you are comfortable with its viewfinder. I do wish it was better but it is perfectly usable ( to my eyes). This camera produces lovely images and is so much easier to handle ( again, for me!) than the A73.
@@chryseass.5143 you can get a small evf frame in amazon (cheap af) goes into the shoe and makes it great! :)
I'm super late to comment on this video, but thanks for doing this. Been back and forth about what to get. I have been eyeing both the 6400 and the A7iii, but since I'm mostly a photographer I have seen the A7Rii in the $900+ range for one in excellent condition.
Sony could use letters for their APSC line to clear it up for beginner shooters, ie: A6400ii, A6600Rii.
The A7C EVF isn't as bad IF you're coming from the APSC side as in that's where it already is.
A7III, I went from a Canon 5D Mark III and the Sony blew me away. That was 6 years ago or so. My Sony A7III is still a relevant camera to this day. It’s a still a beast and the auto focus is amazing. Once you go full frame it’s hard to go back.
Just bought lumix s5 and love it 😀
I prefer the a7r4a for my fashion photography where a high resolution is better. The details when blown up is amazing. Then I use the A9 for my sports where 20 frames per second is required. Both amazing cameras but they are nothing without the glass
Salut est-ce que je peux avoir votre numéro je suis du Sénégal 🇸🇳
thank you!!!!
I haven’t taken a still photo in years and I only shoot vlogs and cinematic gimbal video.
If I have a budget of $6,000-$8,000 should I still get 2 FX30s or would you get 2 FX3s?
Reason for 2 cameras is capturing 2 angles for editing and keeping settings and features matching.
Thanks
Hello Manny, what camera will you recommend for a beginner ?*who wants to learn photography.
👍😃👍Thanks for sharing !
I absolutely love my Sony A7R3 ❤️
Just bought the R3 coming over from Nikon, man do I love it! 📸
What about the AF of R3? Is it a bit slow?
Manny, what do you use as an on-body POV camera?
Which of those is Full Frame and can shoot cinematic 12 bit 4k RAW in CDNG format ? (like the Sigma FP which costs 1500 USD)
I bought the a7 iv a month ago and I love it
Now in Latvia it's 2300 Euro for FX-30(no handle, pre-order) vs 2500 Euro a7 IV. 🤔 In a7 IV case you have 10 bit video too. 50/60FPS in APS-C (Maybe same rolling shutter in APS-C) and FF in 24/25FPS mode(in 1080p no limits) & awesome photography. In APS-C it's ~24 MPix, in FF it's ~32MPix. Better in low light in FF mode. Really 100/120FPS slow-mo in 4K are not so necessary. 🤔
FX-30 with handle - 2800 Euro
Maybe after few months price will be as recommended...
I'm debating between FX30 and FX3 for my video purposes. I have an A7R3 w/ 24-70 2.8 GM & 70-200 2.8 GM for my photo purposes.
thank you
We are looking for a camera to do video, UA-cam shorts, photos etc slow motion etc kind of a do it all camera. It will be used outside summer/winter time what would you recommend?
love it
t video, thanks for making this.
How close is the a7iv colors to the fx3. I want to upgrade my side cameras for weddings, I'm looking for 2 fx30, or 2 a7iv's. With my fx3 for my center shot. I use sony S cinitone. Thank you.
Ok, but let's say I want to print big and use my photos for multiple purpose like websites, banners, billboards etc. ( and I want also a good range of focal length ). What you can recommended for me ?
Sony needs to release an A9 III and get the price to $4000 to compete with Cannon. Slight MP bump would be nice but improved low light performance and faster shutter speed would also be great. The AI AF features from A7RV would be a killer addition to that camera.
this aged well, a9III coming out early next year
Thank You
I hve both a7riii &a7iv i have no problems dor both for video and photography i stick to my gear for now mybe in the future ill buy fx30 for videos vut for now im stick to my gear with 24/105f4 & 70 200f4
