That’s so awesome you are teaching your daughter how to fix things. I’m 65 yrs old and always with my dad learning those things. Today all my grand kids tell their parents to ask grandma how to fix things! I love it when their dads just look at me like “dad can fix it”. Haa. God Bless
Thanks for your comment! Yes, I hope my kids can learn a few things on general repair from me. It can save so much headache and money if you can figure out repairs on your own. Personally I think it’s more bravery than know-how! Have a great day!
Coolest Daddy and Daughter video! Don't stop teaching Dad. She will be years ahead of everyone else, and so independent. Love this! ....but now I have to fix my dryer too. But I got this!
I just wanted to say thank you for this video. My dryer was making an Insanely loud clunking noise and I gave this fix a try and it worked! I am so happy!!!
Thank you so much for this video! You have the same make and model that we have, and I was able to follow along and replace the parts. So far so good! Fingers crossed!
Yes, like the other reply, I guess any lubricant should be specifically for high temps. However, I had mine fail a second time and I replaced them again, using no lubricant and now it’s been good for a while. The grease I originally used did get kind of gritty and fuzzy from the dryer gunk. I would not think wd-40 would ignite, it just might attract dust etc and stop lubricating.
The back is just 1/4 sheet metal screws. The rollers are held on by REVERSE THREAD bolts and nuts. Once the bolt is out, the wheels come right off. I hope that helps!
@@NashwaukSteve Thanks, had to watch your video again. One thing to add is that I would avoid putting grease on your drum roller shaft. Reason being is because dryer lint attaches to the shaft over time, thus impeding the roller wheel. I did this fix last time, and the wheel 1 year later seized up because of the lint that gets trapped inside the drum roller bearing. Best video on this out there, though! Good job guys!
so the wheel does not have a sealed bearing? it just freely rolls in the wheel? thats stupid. if the engineers at whirlpool are making over 50 cents an hr whirlpool is getting ripped off. also it looks like a roller blade wheel i wonder if that would work and it has sealed bearings. what a hack job the engineers did when designing this dryer.
Yeah, I agree that this seems to be a very poor design. Since this video, I’ve had the thing apart at least 2 more times to lubricate the roller shafts. And still, the thing sounds like a train rumbling through our basement. I’m very, very close to replacing the dryer. One more issue and I’m done fixing it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
To anybody watching this, DO NOT MAKE A REPAIR THIS WAY. IT'S WRONG!! Everything is accessed through the front of the machine. If you don't know what you're doing, stop and call a professional. Following bad youtube advice will end up costing you more in the long run. I've been in the major appliance repair business for over 48 years. Videos like this are great for my business. People will completely screw things up and end up calling me eventually. This is bad advice. Please don't follow it.
Hi imorgg imorgg- well I hope your comment gets you some more business. That being said, yes, you could technically get to the rear support rollers from the front, but you’d need to remove the control head, remove the top, remove the door, remove front support structure, disconnect the drive belt, and pull the drum out. Even then, you would need to reach around the rear wall from below to blindly get a wrench on the rear support roller nuts….or you can just remove 10 sheet metal screws to pop the back off. I also have a video where I do remove all those things to replace the rear drum seal- so you can see what I just described. My ‘bad advice’ resulted in years of quiet dryer operation for about a half-hour and $25. Viewers can decide on the advice.

Thanks for the encouragement! You can do it, too. God bless!
Great video...and your daughter is absolutely adorable. What a wonderful helper/assistant you have!
I just wanted to say thank you for this video. My dryer was making an Insanely loud clunking noise and I gave this fix a try and it worked! I am so happy!!!
Glad it helped!
Awesome. Love the way you are teaching your kids as you work . I've tried to do that with mine also. Great job.

Your daughter is adorable! Great video
Wow, thanks. I didn't think it was possible to replace the wheels without taking out the drum first.
Do you have a part# mine is doing the exact thing, exact dryer
Bad idea. Dont use oils in a dryer. They attract lint and create fire hazard. Replace idler (tensioner) or use dry lube.
LOL when you started it worked but just made a squeaking noise. In trying to fix it, it actually broke!!
I have the some problem with cabrio dryer do have the wheels information to buy do you ordered from Amazon please let me know
Hi Gabriel- search for this on Amazon:
W10314173 Good luck!
What model do you have? Thanks
Hello- going off memory- WED8000DW4
Why would my new belt of a one month old seem like the drum is dragging
Dragging, huh? Seems like the rollers might not be rolling right…tough to say though.
Classic video bro!
What was the part number and where did you get it from ?
Hi Tony! Part number is W10314173. I don’t remember where I bought it, but just googling that number will give you a host of options. Good luck!
@@NashwaukSteve no worries. I actually ended up guessing and got parts from amazon. Everything worked out fine 👍🏽
Hi I use wd 40 and smell’s burned.. maybe u can help me
I was looking other videos and one said that do not use WD-40 it will cause a fire 🔥 so you need to use a different lubricant for high temperatures.

How'd you get it off?

You're missing a wheel. There are 3

Thanks my friend! That baby in your pic looks perfect!!
