Really enjoy your reviews and motorbike information mate.Keep up the good work.
Thank you Andy...
I was always impressed by how calm your voice and thoughts are in every video, thought the 899 will manage to break you :D
Brilliant bike, I would maybe even prefer it to it's big brother
***** Yea what a great little machine, I agree the 899 is the one to have if you want fun without killing yourself in the first couple of days of ownership!! Loved the bike as you gathered....though my back didn't...
Many thanks, I am looking to only buy the deflector, I will get onto it right now, thanks again, regards, Colin.
Glad I found this older video review 👌 I still love my 13 848 EVO But I definitely love the new service intervals 👍🏻 thanks again for another excellent video review
You're welcome Charlie - glad to be of service!
damn i really enjoyed this, love how you just sound so natural expressing your thoughts - Great cheers vid.
Thank you sir - very kind of you to say so.....
Bumped into this vid randomly but very nice review. Loved the cow bit.
***** Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the kind comment! All the best - TMF
I'm saving up for one atm. Absolutely in love with this bike!
TheHeo93 im probably just going to use the local atm to get my money, how much do they even cost and do the cash vans come and fill them up?
Awsome bit of kit, good to see you had the speed showing in kph .
125 SM Yeah I noticed that - must be an Italian thing....
Nice review buddy! Great sound! Think my sports bike days are over but if I was 10 years younger....
Cheers as ever The Crumble.....sadly I think I'm with you on that, my sports bike days are over before they started! My ageing bones plus an inability to trust myself on the throttle probably mean I won't go there (although I suppose a track day only machine would be an option......... :0)
Great video loved the extra shots at the end! If your looking to step up from 675cc it would be great to see you review the brutale dragster RR and a GSXR 750 ? I like the practical approach you take In your reviews very informative for the real world +1 sub
The Incredible Sulk Cheers Incredible Sulk - appreciate the kind comments and welcome along!
yep im also a fan of the white with red wheels - I will never get tired of the sound of this bike
Yes it does sound good n grunty - this one has the Termi's so doesn't sound quite as nice out of the box I guess. Thanks for watching and commenting - TMF
Hi Pal, great video! Only just discovered it and just wanted to ask whether the bike had problems overheating during slow or town riding and did it feel particularly hot whilst you were on it? I've heard this can be a problem with the 1299, wondering if this was also the case? Keep up the good work!
+Robert Haigh Hi Robert - thanks for your kind words, glad you found the video of interest. I did notice that you could feel the engine heat but on this particular ride (I was riding it for less than 2 hours) it wasn't a significant issue and I don't think would be so hot that it would annoy me....in fact in Winter it would be a positive bonus! 'Course the 1299 may be a different proposition. Fabulous bikes though these, if you get the chance do go and have a ride on one, lots of fun.....all the best - TMF
Quando bellezza ed ingegneria si fondono in un insieme armonico creando qualcosa di magnifico ed unico significa che stiamo sfiorando i livelli piu' alti del genio umano. Brava Ducati.
Interesting review and also been back to watch your Multistrada review after you mention it in this video. I would like to see and hear you review the newest Multistrada with the supposedly smoother engine and magical ABS and traction control with all the sensors, bells and whistles.
Hi pipnmaz - sorry for the late reply! I'd love to try the latest Multistrada and see how the newer machine differs, maybe one day I'll get the chance! Thanks for watching and commenting - all the best, TMF
Great review!!
Thanks Dan :0)
The nice thing about the new 899 is that there are no silly belt changes every 2 years any more! Hope to get a test ride soon!
Yes, that plus the good service interval makes these almost a practical bike ! :0) cheers for watching and commenting, all the best - TMF
Another great report. Must admit I've never been into sports bikes but this looks a beauty.
Let me know if you are coming a bit farther west (Cotswolds) - be nice to meet up and perhaps go for a ride out in my neck of the woods.
Steve
Cheers Steve!
Hi TMF, great review as always!
Stumbled onto this old video as I’m looking at an 899 as a step up from a CBR600, would you recommend this or the go for a newer 959/v2/Supersport S ? Cheers
Liked and subscribed 👍🏼
I'd say avoid the Supersport - go for the v2 if you can afford it otherwise 899/959 both great....
@@TheMissendenFlyer thanks for the recommendation and taking the time to reply. Ride on 👍🏼
Missenden, thanks for this review. Your reviews are very good.
I noticed that you have ridden the 2017 Yahama R6. I am looking to purchase either the 2017+ r6 or Panigale V2. It would be great if you could share your insight. I am leaning towards the V2 which is just the evolution of 899, 959, however if you can share on major differences and which one you prefer and why, between the r6 and 899, that would be very helpful. Thank you
I'd have the Ducati on looks and prestige alone....
Nice vid as always. Geeky question, was that 30 or 60fps?
MotoMax Cheers MotoMax - 30fps
That's just made me want one even more.
Hi TMF, just came upon your vid by chance. Thinking of swapping my zx10r in for the 899. How does it feel comfort and suspension wise? I rode my mates 1199 and hated it ... was like a steel block.. guessing this is the same as no frame ? Cheers
I LOVE THIS BIKE!:) Mi piacciono i tuoi video!:)
SINNAGGAGGHIRI Gracie - me too :0)
Great video as normal. I was getting a bit frustrated though. As a sports bike rider I was willing you to get the revs up a bit thankfully I waited until the end of the video and watched the short clips, that was more like it! 😀
dave80h SShhhhh!..... ;0)
Nice review and an awesome machine
Cheers! Glad you approve, thanks for watching!
I liked the video. The action clips at the end were cool too. I currently ride a 2014 Street Triple R and if I said I loved it I'd be lying. Though it's a great bike. It's not enough to just have the bike. I need the life to go with it! I think I'll subscribe. Those who cannot do watch. lol
+GoProChicken Hi GoProChicken - Well I love my STR too but I'm not sure I "love" it either - it's certainly a great fun - and comfortable (compared to the Panigale) - bike. Thanks for watching and commenting and welcome aboard! All the best...TMF
+TheMissendenFlyer Thanks. Happy vlogging!
Buy it!!
As a rider of a BMW R1150r which is soon to be replaced I've been looking at various bikes, I'd never even considered a Ducati as I've always had issues with Italian build quality, however this seems to be finished to a high standard , the only issue I would have would be if I was doing a bit more than a Sunday afternoon scratch then I think that perch like seat would irritate after 50 miles or so . You've certainly given me another bike to consider though and I think I'll book a test ride .
Adrian Rigby Go for it Adrian, you'll love it...but like you say, after 50+ miles maybe not.....lovely bike though - all the best TMF
He loved it so much he bought one... can’t blame you at all. A beautiful bike then and even 3 yrs later still a beaut.
Yeah - I love mine....
Brilliant review and bike 👍i own a street tripple r 2014, love it but would consider one of these for my next bike. Are they known to be reliable?
Mine seemed ok!
Gorgeous bike and great review! Those cows cracked me up. :)
Yeah, what a bunch of wimps eh?
Hi TMF, as always a great review, that's a lovely bike and would certainly be my no.1 choice to have along side the GS. Got the GS about a year ago shortly after losing shit loads on a brand new Repsol Fireblade, quickly realised if I can only have 1 bike it needed to be a bit more flexible.
Trying to stress the importance and reasons to the other half of having a sportsbike and something I can tour on in the garage, made what I thought was a very good intelligent argument, she told me to fuck off.
Love that Panigale though and the quick shift looks awesome, if you know you're distance limitations on it then it would make a great addition to the garage
Had a trip booked for beginning of August but the company has cancelled due to numbers not being reached, looks like I'll be doing a solo to France and Germany now, cant wait to do some proper miles on the beemer
Hi Danny, nice to hear from you.....yes I know how the Mrs can sometimes put pay to fun, when I was 20 I said I was getting a motorcycle and I had a similar reply to you, when I was 40 I said the same thing and I f not she could FO....I now have the three bikes and the MRs :0)
I'm looking at changing from a Street Triple R (2013) to an 899. How did you find the power delivery compared to your Street Triple? I've heard it doesn't have any low down torque in comparison to the STR. What are your thoughts on the power delivery between the two bikes?
tripletorque I didn't find any lack of low down power, the 899 is fast enough off the mark compared to the Street Triple but the engine noise is less manic so may give the impression of being slower. I found power delivery through the range good on the 899 and it continues way beyond where the STR runs out of puff. Infact having now ridden my Street Triple some more since, I've decided to stick with it rather than get the Panigale for the time being. The Panigale is happier at much higher speeds than the STR and in my opinion that would lead me to be riding too fast everywhere (would lose my license or worse). The Panigale is a lovely bike but very fast and uncomfortable, for the road my conclusion is the Street Triple is as much fun and more usable....just my opinion of course. Best to have a test ride on the 899 yourself and see what you think.....good luck in your search! All the best - TMF
My- My M F.you are full of surprises. 899 Ducati. motorcycle trailers whatever next ?
all very enjoyable as usual. excellent informative videos. we learn a lot in a short space of time. I do not think a sport bike of this type is for me, I feel very un comfortable in this riding position, a sport tourer like the Kawasaki Z1000SX is very likable an I may consider getting one but I am enjoying the Triumph Tiger at the moment and I am planning to tour the west country in the next few weeks so looking forward too that. ride safe M F, regards , Colin.
colin clewley Hi Colin, nice to hear from you again - glad I'm keeping you guessing ;0) I certainly couldn't live with one of these as my only bike, but as a fun thing for the weekend.....maybe (but v easy to lose your licence so maybe not)...Enjoy the Tiger, another great machine! - TMF
I agree. They are one of the best looking bikes around.
Sounder ...I'm also a fan of the new Yamaha R1 but I think the Duke still takes the overall looks award (Kawasaki could learn a thing or two on the looks front with that H1...)....
Would you be able to review the Harley Davidson Forty Eight? You put your videos together so well and I'd be interested to know your thoughts on the bike.
+Jack Wills Thanks Jack for the kind words - I'd love too! ....but I don't even know where my local Harley dealer is - but if you want to send a Forty Eight my way then I'd love to ride it for a bit and report back :0) All the best - TMF
+TheMissendenFlyer lakeside is the nearest harley dealer I think
TheMissendenFlyer Sorry for my slow reply, I dont have one but thats the dream to get one. If you ever do get on one i'm sure it'd be the best quality review i've seen on one yet. Keep riding:)
Are you planning on doing a meet up when you reach 5k subs ? Would love to come meet you since I'm so local
Hi M F, just ordered the wind deflector for the Triumph, not cheap but I wanted to buy it, I already had the larger screen fitted when I bought the bike, so looking forward to seeing if there is any improvement, just one more thing before I sign off, do you find your screen gets very scratched and if so do you clean it with anything special, I only asked because I know your very fastidious about these things. regards, Colin.
colin clewley Hi Colin - Having ruined a few screens in my time (or had them ruined by so called "professionals") I am indeed very careful about cleaning them. I only ever use lots of soapy water - with muck-off having been applied first - always with a clean sponge, and never clean it more than I have to. lots of clean water is the key...the less touching it the better. If I do scratch it then I use "Renovo" to bring the scratch out....I know OCD again!
I miss my sports bikes at times, I wish I had more self control with the throttle and wasn't so tall to cope with the riding position to enjoy bikes like this, but I don't so i'll have to stick with my Honda Shadow and Vespa, plus they are less of a widow maker I guess. Lovely looking machine, look forward to seeing which colour of go for! Nice review.
Hi again Paul, completely agree, in fact the thing that may stop me going for one is the lack of self control that takes over on these things....one thing losing your licence.......
From an outsider looking in, your riding style certainly changed on this bike from what we've seen in all your previous video's, but then that's what these machines are made for, like I say, its a lovely, lovely bike, a tough decision ahead hey. Take care and keep up the good work with the video's, regards, Paul.
My mate has got one of these and he went with me on 3k mls trip to Spain last year. He did well. I was on my GS LC. you should have tried Race mode... it transforms 899 to bullet! 😁
Pawel Kisiel Hi Pawel - TBH I was quite scared enough in Sport mode! ....next time....thanks for watching and commenting, all the best - TMF
Was sooo close to pulling the trigger on one of these last year, until I got a great deal on a Daytona (to go with my STR). After a year of owning both (well, had the STR for 3 years), I've chopped both in for a Z1000SX. Found the supersports riding position too uncomfortable on long journeys (although it was preferable to the wind blast of the STR). 899 is the best looking bike around though, imo :)
YarekBalear Wow, I'm surprised you find the Z1000SX more comfortable than the STR??? ...but agree on the Panigale, beautiful bike, but for contortionist speed freaks only....
TheMissendenFlyer Didn't find the Z1000SX more comfortable than the STR, just better having a fairing for regular long journeys due to the protection from the wind blast. The STR is an awesome bike and I'm sure I'll return to one in the future when I don't have to travel 400+ miles every few weekends.
Hi out of all the bikes you tryed what would you recommend for every day ;) use? Regards tony
BMW r1200 GS
Nothing sounds better than these L twins. I know people keep going on how nice the triples sound but it can never top this imo. Wonder if Ducati will make a Streetfighter version from this.
stephen spiteri Yes they do sound splendid don't they....although I am of course a huge fan of the triple scream too!
Just bought one on the recommendation of yourself and BvG (upgrading from the old 796 Monster). I have ordered Termi's for the first service. Wise choice or not?????!!!!
Christopher McDermott Exciting times eh? ...and yes, I think you've made a great choice - ride safe my friend, these bikes are weapons! All the best - TMF
hi Christopher, I'm currently in same situation: riding monster for years, now on 796. Never had a ride on superbike, but would like to get me one. Still hesitating :( Monster so easy to ride. How was your step-up from Monster?
Under similar circumstances I would have pumped for the bm 1000rr but everyone to there own enjoy Shane
I can't be doing with the Beemer's squinty face, the Duke is gorgeous on the other hand.....
yep very true takes a while to get to like the bm face but its a serious weapon apparently easy to ride and I think in the long run more durable probably less expence on service and parts required cheers shane
...if the servicing costs of my GS are anything to go by I can't imagine it would be any cheaper on parts and service than the Ducati...
Perhaps you should try an MV Augusta F3 800 - better looking, comfier riding position, better engine and frame and classier more exclusive brand!
Mark Smith Hi Mark, I'm not sure I'd agree that the F3 is better looking, but it is a lovely bike, and you're right - defo worth a go before parting with any cash. Will have to look up where my nearest MV dealer is! Cheers - TMF
TheMissendenFlyer Mirrors on the F3 are not great tho', I didn't mention the breaks probably better than the pani as well. And the sound
TheMissendenFlyer I'd like to see your vid on the F3 if you get a chance!
Mark Smith 6'1
Good morning M F, I want to buy a wind deflector that fits on top of my screen I believe you fitted one in a previous video, can you tell me where it was purchased please, regards, colin.
Hi Colin, I got mine from bikehps.com.....
Oh and mine is the whole screen with the deflector included rather than a bolt on affair by the way.....
You have reviewed a few bikes I am looking at, the R 1200 GS and the Ducati Multistrada. Now if you could just review the R 1200 RT :)
Boodieman72 Would love a go on one of those......maybe one for the list... :0)
They must know you at the dealer you got your GS at :)
You can get a quick-shifter on your Street Triple.... hint hint
Looks nice but just isn't the sound that I expect from those looks (too meaty). Maybe a 4cyl would be better.
Yeah I know what you mean, a low rumble rather than a wild scream - still lovely though (at least to my ears). Yes good point about the quick shifter, will defo get that remedied, thanks for the idea....
Does sounds sweet, huh? Not sure now what I like most - the triple or this!
I'm with you, the triple has a unique gorgeous sound too.....of course the answer is to have both ;0)
Nice bike !!!!
Patricia Piriz Sure is! Thanks for watching....all the best - TMF
Did you ever try/consider the Daytona as an option, what are your thoughts?
I didn't because I already have a Street Triple and I thought the Daytona would be too close to that - the Daytona is a brilliant bike though. To me the Panigale is in a different league in the looks department, just love the way the thing (all Panigales) look...
+TheMissendenFlyer have to agree with you , nothing competes with the Panigale on looks or probably ever will again (Euro 4)
Beautiful machine that! Lots of fun and sounds amazing. I'd love that for an hours riding then back on to the GS armchair lol. Go easy on that if you get one mate. Kind regards
Hey Beans, nice to hear from you again. Even my Street Triple felt like an armchair after the Duke!!! Great fun but think I might be too old/inflexible to get one of these alas....
Ah yes. I remember those roads 40 years ago. Went faster in a vw polo 1.1l. No cops. Lovely bike, makes more sense than the bigger bores (where can you ride them !)
Calummckinlay888 Yeah completely agree, 899cc should be enough for anyone on the road! (in fact for me even that is probably too much)....
More fun on a track day too, should you wish to try one out.
Found a local vlogger! I will soon be doing it also. Mod1 and 2 to go then I can take my bandit out legally. New subscriber for you sir. Safe riding.
Dan Law Welcome along Dan, good luck with the tests - keep me informed!
Will do indeed. Hopefully doing mod1 this week with a bit of luck. Will defo let you know how it goes. Would be awesome to ride along one day soon. Thanks
They let you test ride it without having to follow someone?
I've seen multiple test ride videos where they have to follow someone on another motorcycle
Really! I've never heard of such a thing, where are you located Rumba? Here in the UK you never go out accompanied as far as I know......
I am from mexico, but I've seen test rides from other youtubers from the US, saw someone that goes by the name "CycleCruza" test a harley breakout and had to follow other people, also a test ride of an indian scout I think it was and other couple of videos I don't remember.
Cheers
Great review TMF, deposit paid on a 2014 899 today :-)
ooh nice one - when do you pick her up?
2-3 weeks time , then riding her back ... it was either the Panigale or the sensible choice a Multistrada !
.....you made the sensible choice ;0)
I'm about to purchase this exact bike same plate. is this the demo you had
+Tom Watts Yes! I love coincidences!
TheMissendenFlyer okay haha yeah down at Winchester ducati I've put my deposit down. I thought I knew the plate from somewhere haha
+TheMissendenFlyer can you review a hypermotard 939 please?
Love too - have you got one to lend to me :0)
This is one of the best bikes I know!!
Beautifull Austria Yeah, it is a lovely machine...
what was the highest speed you ever drove with it??
Chappy2121 I agree
I somehow like it better than the big brother.
TheRealBajan who likes there big brother anyway.
I'm thinking of trading my street triple r in for the baby pani, would you trade your st r in for one of these, I know you rate it a 9.5' love my st3 but can't have both, I feel we are both of the same riding style and size, and of similar age, meaning I am not speed racer ;) , thanks I value your op
+Jim V Hi Jim - I was considering this (which is why I test rode the Panigale) and there is no doubt the Panigale is a fabulous machine, for me though it was just too fast and too uncomfortable, when I jumped back on the STR straight after, it felt sooo much better and is ample quick enough for road use - I made my mind up there and then to forget the Panigale and stick with the STR. The Panigale is a brilliant machine, but I would quickly lose my licence (or worse)! I love the look of the Panigale, unfortunately it's just not a practical/safe option for me.....
+TheMissendenFlyer something less could be something more ;-)
is it good for a short rider? 5'4 tall?
Best to sit on one and try but certainly I flat foot her at 5'8" no issues....
In guessing; I waaaaay underestimated how much power this bike makes. Thought maybe 110. Ducati is as crazy as every else these days eh?
With the Termi's I'm getting close to 155 out of mine - more than enough for road use I find.....
I wish I had one. Mite be my upgrade after my streety
Yeah, a logical next step if you are a contortionist! :0) A great fun bike but in retrospect I'm not sure I could personally live with the riding position....defo one for a test ride though to see for yourself. Thanks for watching and commenting - TMF
I own a Ducati Super Sport S, you ever ride one?
Yep
@@TheMissendenFlyer how did you like it?
Did they charge you for this test ride if you did not buy ? My local Duke dealership charges £30 for a ride + you pay for fuel. It's the kind of snobbery tosh that leads me away from Ducati. Considering you can walk into a bmw dealer and take a RR out for 2 hours and not even pay for fuel ! !
It strange mate report to Ducati's , because I rode very often demo Ducati and NEVER paid petrol for a ride also NEVER paid for demo ride !!!
( Sorry for my English)
Hi Tommoson, no, no charge to ride the Duke - if there were, I wouldn't! Cheers - TMF
Hi Tommoson, no, no charge to ride the Duke - if there were, I wouldn't! Cheers - TMF
Great looking bike. The sound of the engine and the actual speed don't seem to match up! Certainly seems like a license looser..... Like the suicidal fly who died to hide the speedo :-)
Can you test a KTM1190 Adventure soon... please ;-)
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Hi Dervman, nice to hear from you again, and yes, you noticed the selfless fly too....glad it was at the end of filming! I love riding any bikes so if you want to send me a KTM to try I'm all yours! Cheers - TMF
this swing arm looks better than the 1299, it looks more race focused.
+TheRealBajan Really??? I love the single sided look on the 1299.....but this is still the better road bike...
Try the tuono v4
Do you have one I can borrow :0) ?
I've never seen a Ducati scare cows away lol
Have you had a chance to watch any of my short latest videos yet Mr Flyer ? No likes or comments on them cheers Shane
Yes had a quick look Shane, look forward to seeing how you develop them over the months :0)
Haha hope you had more fun with it after the vid :)
Not for me, but nice rev.
Thank you :0)
how much do you ££££ want for the triple
TheBlack Rider He he, I'm not going to sell her just yet, but I'll give you a nod if I do! In an ideal world the baby Duke would be an addition rather than a replacement....but as you can imagine, that raises a number of hurdles to get over....
Ohh OK no worries mate
7:30 some really impressed Cows 9:40 Someone told them the price of the bike btw nice review
Ladyburleska Hah ha - love it - and thanks..... :0)
Hi TMF, hope your well. I've put a couple of rubbish videos up as a little test have a look and laugh.
Think the title is bmw r1200 GS up and coming euro trip. Ride safe
Beans Great stuff Beans - look forward to seeing the planned mini-series soon! All the best - TMF
You scared the cow's lol.. nice but I only ever rode one Ducati and the tank was lets say to snug for me...
harleyman5521 Glad you spotted that - couldn't help but raise a smile in my helmet.....
How was the heat from the bike? I always hear about how hot Ducati bikes get on your legs and ass.
No problem, did feel warm but not a real issue and I suspect very good in Winter! Not sure how I'd feel about it on a very hot day though.....
Nooooo! Don't sell the Triumph!
Don't panic, this would be an "as well as" - but a few hurdles to overcome first (2 to be precise).....cheers for watching and commenting.
but the cows hahahah
Yes gave em a surprise didn’t it!
Those poor cows.. They ran for their life :)...
Damn nice. Mine coming next month. Sexy Beast
Derek Heissmann Lucky man! Ride carefully, those things are weapons!!
TheMissendenFlyer
I will sir. These babies are sexy but also dangerous. :)
Derek Heissmann Yeah, which is why I didn't get one - can't trust myself not to ride like an idiot everywhere (these things are up to 3 figures in no time at all).....gorgeous bikes though, wouldn't mind one just to stick in the living room!
TheMissendenFlyer You're are not alone. Sometimes I ask myself, can I behave?. LOL. Coz when riding such a beast, there will be a feelings where we want to show off, rev and all. Nice idea!. Will ride it rarely and park it at my living room. ^^
Looks much better in red though :-/ lol
I see you got that one from Aylesbury aswell lol
Motozevlogga ...I'm tending towards the white for some odd reason....
Motozevlogga sure did....
Hmm lol I like it in red but the white was cheaper lol
The sales guy told me the white was more expensive! Either way I think the white with red wheels looks coolio on this machine...
Terrible audio.
Terrible comment 😜
@@TheMissendenFlyer lol! 😝 I did give you a thumbs up for owning a panigale though. Much respect for that.
