    Great bike. I'd have one in a heartbeat. Beautiful styling. The 899 must be a lot more usable than the 1199/1299. And nicely missed out on Euro4 unlike the 959. These sub litre sports bikes like this and the GSXR750 and the Daytona are great for road use. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

      Yes I agree Slepingdragon1, really usable machines and simply gorgeous to look at, to my mind the best looking motorcycle yet produced (all Panigale's, not just the 899). The 959 I'm sure is a better bike, but here in Blighty, with those exhausts...? No thanks....

    Another great video TMF. A friend of mine has just bought a 1299, which I sat on recently; it certainly didn't seem to be uncomfortable and I could feel the heat still emanating from the exhaust, even though it had been switched off for a while. A beautiful looking motorcycle. Btw, have now taken delivery of my new GSA which I am loving. Cheers, Andy

    Stuck between a daytona 675r and an 899 panigale, getting mixed opinions and cant decide which is a better choice. I previously had my eye on the daytona but people have said the ducati 899 is less extreme riding position and more comfortable for street use, I love the daytonas sound especially the wailing scream when you rev it up, but also the low V8 muscle sound of the ducati 899 has been growing on me... I certainly love the ducati looks much more than the daytona, and it feels a bit more comfortable I think. Engine sound is important to me and I'm not sure if I like the 899 factory exhaust having the clicky clack strange exhaust sounds. Can anyone comment on what would be a better purchase or any experience with these bikes?

    I put a foil covered ceramic material over my pipes inside the belly pan
    of my Bimota so it wouldnt melt the plastic . You can put your hand 1/16
    of an inch over the foil covering of the ceramic,no heat at all.
    This ceramic and foil is about 1/4 thick,wraps and forms well around
    pipes
    USe stainless steel ties around it

    Not to mention the massive grin one gets permanently stuck across their face while riding a Panigale. Beauty, soul and an amazing sound track, I would agree the riding position is so much better than my old 996 but I miss that dry clutch chatter. :)

    Nice video. I have a 2014 899 here in the states. Florida, it's hot here...But I have mine dedicated to the track so I don't even notice the heat from the exhaust. Street riding, in-town, in traffic, in August is a bit uncomfortable. Like you said, its best on the track. Wonderful machine! Stay safe!

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 років тому

    • @dontaylor261
      @dontaylor261 7 років тому

      Since the bike was financed, it must be insured and she has been down twice at the same track, same turn...three months apart. I paid out of pocket for both repairs since I was on a track, no police report, etc.. I don't want to push my luck and lose my required coverage. It has become a very expensive turn. I've threatened to cut the track and bypass the turn from hell all-together. Ck. out my channel for video of the first time. GoPro catches everything - good and bad.

Finally going to get myself one but still unsure whether to buy the 899 or go for the 1199. I know the 899 is well quick enough for me but wondered if I should go for the bigger bike just for the little extras on it for more a less the same money. I'd be over the moon to own either one tbh

    Cool video. Is the low level exhaust standard in the UK? I've looked on the site and they only have the hideous wheelside exhaust. Saying that, I don't know what was wrong with Ducati's underseat exhaust they've done for YEARS
    3:10 I'm so glad you finished that by saying textiles.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 років тому

      The low level exhaust was standard in the UK on the 899 but Ducati were forced to change the exhaust to comply with EU standards (so called "Euro 4 compliance") and hence the 959 was born that has the awful side exhausts....so the underslung are no longer standard in the UK (or indeed anywhere in the EU)....

    • @timorgano

    When you say it's comfortable, what size person do you believe it would be uncomfortable for? That's really the problem I'm dealing with at the moment. I'm 5'10, and 220 lbs. I've had R1's and found them to be so-so in the comfort category. I really like the BMW, but it just seems like the Italian bikes have the kind of appeal that you can keep around for several years, whereas the others tend to be outdated after a little while. No disrespect to any bike meant. I really would like to have something that I could run some day trips of 200 miles or so, and actually enjoy the ride as well as having people respect the bike like you said with the Aston Martin example. The Panigale is definitely on the watch list for me, as well as the MV Augusta F4, but I would really like to see how MV comes out of their production slump first. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Like yourself i have the BMW adventure and i also have a 1299 Panigale and people tend to look at the bmw and think what a knob, But on the Ducati i have people going out of there way to say hello and ask about the bike or i am sat at traffic lights and people are looking at it with there mouths open, only major problem with the 1299 is stalling because of the size of the v engine just needs to have the revs a bit higher before letting the clutch out, love the videos BTW

      It was "CarbonFibreFever" www.ebay.co.uk/usr/carbonfibrefever?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754 - be warned the exhaust heat shield is a pig to fit (took my Ducati dealer several hours to do, subframe off, the works...fitting cost more than the part!)...

    Hello TMF, I'm considering trading my '13 street triple r for the 959 pani, would love to hear what you would think of a trade like this, as I know you love both bikes. I also love my STr so much and as you mention in another one of your vids, it is such a great bike it would be extremely difficult to replace with something else, do you think you would be happy swapping your STr for the Pani if you could only have one of them ? I know this is a tough one, thanks for your thoughts !

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 років тому

      Yeah that is a tough one - the Pani wins on pose value but the STR is abetter "real world" bike in that it's smoother and more comfortable to ride, depends what's more important to you and what you use the bike for. If I could only have one I'd have the Panigale, but then I also have my GS. If I didn't have the GS then I'd have the STR rather than the Pani...hope that makes sense....

      Its not a 4 line cylinders, you make the engine suffering, you can feel and hear it if you ride at low speed with high gear.

      Owned a bunch of 600 and 1000cc ninjas and Yamahas. I've come to the realization.. If you have a good parts shop and get the parts close to cost and do the maintenance/repairs yourself it's well worth owning a ducati over a Japanese bike. You pay a little more but you get a far more interesting and better looking bike. Let's be honest maintenance on any bike is relatively cheap in comparison to up keep on a modern automobile.
