Wow, what a great trip down memory lane! I was 11 in 1970 and 20 in 1979. I remember most of these trends, glad the shaggy carpeting is no more! I got married in 1980 and got that crockpot shown on the right and I still have it!

Bet it’s great quality too! I have the pot too, love it! They don’t make the same quality anymore, I shop thrift stores specifically for things I need because of that level of quality. I will never change my avocado green bathroom either lol

I was born in 84 and when i was 17 in 2001 i had one of those nokia phones where you could only text or call someone. I loved playing snake on that. It was a simpler time and i miss it. Before all this 'instagram model', 'influencer' and 'tiktoker' generation where ppl determine their worth with how many followers or likes they have lol 🤦

Have you seen how UA-camrs show off their “minimalist spa-like home style” and everything is all white with the walls painted Institutional Gray with the occasional trendy mini cactus, then they show off an ENTIRE GIGANTIC walk-in closet the size of a bedroom to hold their clothes, always attached to their “beauty room” that contains literal collections of cosmetics they have so much of, they expire before they can even use it all so they upload “purge parties” wasting it all to the trash? Boggles my mind.

We had one of those huge televisions by Motorola. We even had a TV repairman that made house calls to keep our television running throughout the 70’s and 80’s. We owned the Rival Crockpot and I learned to make delicious soups and stews for my young family. Loved the lighted makeup mirror. I still own mine, it got 5X magnifier which is a real eye opener when you reach my age. I’ll be 71 in March 2023. I love your videos summing up the styles of the decades! What precious, priceless memories! Thank you Laura! You’ve made me smile and brought joy to me on some pretty dark days! Thank you and Happy Holidays to you and yours✨❤️✨💚✨!

This video features many items familiar and part of every day life in the 1970s. The colours and style was innovative to this time and marked a shift in decor and function formerly unexplored. The crock pot and music/tv entertainment centres were huge new comers. For music quadraphonic sound was also introduced with a theater type sound system available to households. Another item was the oil lamps which were usually gold and featured a statue inside and stings similar to fishing wire where when lit the oil would heat and begin to drip down the strands in a uniform pattern. The water bed was also a 70s feature in many homes. Nostalgic of all featured here the crochet afghans were especially endearing. Macreme with plants with long vines hanging in sunny areas and window light catchers where common. It was a bit of a time of wonder and a lot of change. Pleased to see all these things put together here. Thanks for sharing.

This was great and very accurate ! I still use a crock pot all the time. Of course it is digital now but still one of the best things ever. I didn't know anyone who had a sunken living room. That must have been only for wealthier people around my neck of the woods. I was born in 72 so I really only remember later 70's. I saw these on click Americana and asked my mom about sunken living rooms and why I don't remember them. She said by that time the new houses weren't being built with them. People fell and hurt themselves so they went out of style. So wild! Love your channel !😀

Born in 56, I grew up in the seventies. We had wood paneling in the living room, floral sofas and gold and avocado toned appliances. I had a princess phone and a shaggy haircut which I alternated with a Dorothy Hamill style wedge cut and I used wheat germ and honey shampoo by Faberge and musk oil by Coty. The clairol light up mirror was very popular as well as their hot curlers. We used to love dressing up in the disco era and dancing the night away to Donna Summer and the Bee Gees. Outdoor Summer concerts and roller skating were popular. We wore scarves in our hair and halter tops. Jeans and t shirts were our daily wear. What a great decade .

Oh my! We had all of this when I grew up - except a sunken living room ! Even my Barbies had macramé bell bottoms and vests. 😂😂 This just brings me right back to being four years old! We didn’t even have a real hair dryer, we had this thing you sat under that blew hot burnt air on you! Also it seemed like everyone had a framed portrait of a man praying over his dinner in their homes!

Thanks for the memories. But do have a few comments: record players had been around for years. I had a 45rpm RCA in a sleek black plastic case in the 60s and console radio/record players had also been in living rooms from at least the 50s. The "massive" coffee maker wasn't much bigger than today's version and that was mainly because it had a large carafe that held multiple cups. TV's were big because the tubes were big and having it look like a piece of furniture that fit your decor was much better than a large tube in a plastic case.
BTW, I still have a current model of the facial steamer (also good for sinus headaches) and the modern day version of the Farrah Fawcett style hair dryer including the comb attachment. The one thing I really didn't like were the avocado and harvest gold color schemes.

  • @fuzzyfriendsrescuevoluntee3036

In the 70s we had lighted makeup mirrors and a zipper cosmetic case. In the 80s we got Caboodles, a whole compartmented makeup box with a pop up mirror. In the 90s we got “vanity mirrors” in our bathrooms with built-in drawers and countertop mirrors with attached caddies to hold makeup. Enter 2020 and women are literally building ENTIRE “BEAUTY ROOMS” with open shelving to hold and display their designer handbags and makeup collections. They hold “purge video events” when they throw out their expired cosmetics. It’s nuts. I don’t know about anyone else, but I only have one face so I can only use the equivalent of one zippy bag of makeup and it would take me at least a year to get through it all 😅

I lived though this time period and we had almost everything you put into this video. I had purple shag carpet and paneling throughout the house. We watched all Scobby Doo and the Brady Bunch etc. Tube shocks were a must have with your roller skates. We all looked like Charlie's Angels and it was a great time to be alive. I hated the color palette but the rest was off the hook! My dad has a slide show of it all. I miss my purple Schwinn Bike with the banana set and my old skies. Thanks for all the memories. 🧡💛💚🧡💛💚
