Isn't it interesting how some of us are really attached to this while others just can't stand it. Says something but I've struggled over the years to determine precisely what that is.
@@cali4tune I think some people just like high octave singing and others don't for whatever reason. I love How Arch sings the same as he did in the 80s though. Not just with the range, but with the melodies.
@@lololounge8281 yes I agree it's the melodic style of singing that is a big part. Some people complain it's an intonation/tuning thing aka we don't have good ears but I think that is bogus. I also feel his lyrics are also very important. For whatever reason his lyrics resonate with me more than others.
Great song and really impressive how great Arch is still singing. He´s got a really special way of creating vocal melodies that sounds different but without being weird. Will be interesting to hear the whole album.
Agre but to be honest I love this song but John does go into the weird end of the spectrum in the middle of the song with the chorus end... Everything else here is spot on.
Yep, that last album was a masterpiece, this sounds a little more straight forward, but awesome. Jon Arch is about the only one who has maintained his range through the years. AMAZING!!
This is brilliant. John's melodic and harmonic choices are as fantastical as they have ever been, and pair perfectly with Matheos' darkness. What elevates these later outings compared to the classics like Guardian is the amazing production, and benefit of Jim dialing in those near-perfect tones after 37 years of dedicated craft.

Really, Where did this come from? I am so excited by this return of Arch/Matheos + I here (Hear) Mark Zonder and Bobby Jarzombek on drums, Wow!! PS CD & shirt ordered...
The track seems to give the listener more with each listen. I think I love its mysterious determination w/ lyrical fragments about ...diamonds in her eyes... and... sad wings of destiny that will carry her away...
Amazing, Jim & John have this magic between them, great too hear Mark Zonder play drums with Jim again, the only thing that would make this better if you guys toured with this line-up
@Sebastian I think he's just on this track. Not enough, but I'm not complaining at all considering Jim and Mark haven't worked together in 15 years. Great to hear them together again
@@marcusblackfellow2850 Amen. I love hearing Mark's delicate cymbal work again. I wish Jim involves Mark on the next OSI record. It's a crime they don't work together more
This is just brilliant stuff from Jim... He's the only musical mastermind type I know of who just keeps getting better and more creative this late into life. He only ever writes two similar albums, then it's onto the next style.
It's absolute magic. I know there's a lot of Fates Warnings fans here, but I don't know how anyone can say material like this doesn't blow away everything going back to PERFECT SYMMETRY.

Thanks to metalcrypt for informing me of their new album.. this song is MASTERPIECE. . I 've never heard of Mark Zonder till now but even still this sure sounds like Bobby to me
I'd suggest checking out Fates Warning - "Nothing Left to Say" or "A Pleasant Shade of Gray Part 5" . You might enjoy the drumming Mark's a very inventive and tasteful drummer

That iconic voice has been a constant companion throughout the majority of my life.

John and Jim make magic when they record. Amazing music as always!
There's not a similar partnership in all of metal. We're lucky they came together again.
Wonderful tune
love how arch randomly throws in the names of other classic songs in the lyrics. 'sad wings of destiny,' 'momentary lapse of reason', etc

Love Matheos' tone qualities on this track. Fascinating braid w/ Arch's singing.
Matheos' guitar tones have always been great, but I love how they're getting crunchier. His production helps of course

When the lightening might strike twice
If you get much closer

You have forced her heart
To change the colors from hunted into huntress
Strange elusive bird,
You will never hold her down
Iridescent glows of turquoise and indigo
Tribal colors show and rhythms guide her home

This is just an astonishing piece of music, the whole album blows me away. Favourite band of all time!
My dream festival: Fates Warning, Arch/Matheos, OSI and a special acoustic opening set by Jim Matheos from his solo albums.
Matheosmania. One can dream
Jim is my favourite living musician... Let me know if you here about that festival.
@@m3bmuadib Should we start a Kickstarter campaign? 😀
I'd quit my job to see a line up like that!
Mine: Fates Warning, Arch/Matheos, Savatage w/Oliva, Helloween w/Kiske, Queensryche w/Tate

Awaken the guardian vibes here!!!❤️❤️
Beautiful singing, lyrics and guitar. Other-worldly and mystical - actually, perfect!
Unequivocally the metal album of the year and one of the best of the decade
Yes finally a second single! I don’t think these guys know the meaning of a bad song. Really well done on this new album.
Jim doesn't know how to write a bad song
Please make another full album. This one is amazing 👏

Great song, great vocals.
Thanks Fromer Brasil.
Love it.... John’s voice, his way of singing.... I love this for so long and will keep doing this [1984 - ........]
John I feel the connection just as you told me I would. Thank you my friend, thanks to Jim as well..amazing.....
So good it hurts. Why does such beautiful music hurt? Thank you for this pain.
Metal needs more singers like Arch singers with range. Close your eyes & you can hear Dickinson similarity 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I'm getting some Riot fellings with his voice
What an alluring shape this track has. Peculiar beyond description, for now. I like it. Digging the emotional expressiveness.

Thought the same thing.
i love it there is only one john arch this music sounds so fresh and melodic jim is killer as always too great job !!!!
This is the song that hot me into this band. They're awesome.
Check out Fates Warning's last album "Theories of Flight" if you haven't already. Even better than this imo

Damn if they dont make for an incredible pairing of talent
How many references to other songs are in this song?
The moment at 3:25 has turned many lackluster metalheads into incredible warriors and people.
Usually not too big into power metal anymore, but this is pretty good
It's actually progressive metal. It's just John's vocals are in the higher register like power metal vocalists
