- Taken from the album "MMXX", out January 17th, 2020. Order now: SOA.lnk.to/MMXX
“MMXX” will be released on January 17th , 2020 as Gatefold 2LP+CD, Limited Edition 2CD Mediabook, Standard CD Jewelcase & Digital Album.
Mike Portnoy comments:
“From the minute we finished writing Goodbye Divinity, I knew we had our album opener and the first release off the album. I even remember posting on social media how excited I was about the song the day I tracked it!
The song has an immediacy that grabs you right away: great riffs, flashy playing and hooky vocal melodies. All of the elements that make up the SOA sound.
The video was directed by Vicente Cordero who I have now done over 20 music videos with and its look helps catapult the band from the Greek mythological past of the last album into the 21st century with this new album.”

Was really disappointed the lead singer not showing triple microphone
This made me chuckle
XD
LOL
The drummer doesn't even have double base! Let alone the necessary quadro base drum!!
Beat me to it.
One of those random clicks that turned to be just right.
same way i got here and im liking it
Same here... 👍🏻 I like it a lot!!
Sounds like Radio rock
How can it not turned out right when it's Mike Focken Portnoy. 😅😅😅
@@rakhmadi20able Same here, come from a Rage Video to this
Can't believe he's the same Jeff Scott Soto who sang on Malmsteen's Rising Force almost 40 years ago. He's in great shape.
Agree with you man!
Because he knows how to sing. He has prolonged his sound and voice through very little head voice ... he is so epic!
@Damien L Indeed dude, indeed!
The man is a MONSTER
Jeff Scott Soto and the Canadian from Portnoy's former band are both just in their mid-50's, but his voice seemed to have aged better and is still as energetic as a young frontman, whereas the other guy currently sounds like a yelling grandma looking tired and worn out
This band is so amazing! I’m totally blown away by the music! I want to see Sons of Apollo live! The energy and passion are insane! Every member of this band are on another level…so incredibly talented.
This just appeared in my recommended. Never even heard of Sons Of Apolo before. I'm a fan already!
Good on you!
same story here!
went from children of bodom to sons of apollo . hm....
Same here!
@@toddpattison To be fair, every member of this band is kind of a big name in the Proggy/Rocky/Metally scene. Chances are you will have heard of at least one of their many many projects, bands and contributions ;)
UA-cam recommending outstanding music , we truly are arriving in the future now.
Man Mike Portnoy knows how to be surrounded with great musicians
Too right mate and the folk that bang on about DT being crap since he left should open their ears to the music that has been created as a result. CHANGE can be great (just like the seaons :) )
@@upat0500 dream theater is a bit shot right now, because they’re past their prime, not necessarily just because of Portnoy leaving the banned; although he did right some great grooves and lyrics.
@@upat0500 yes theyve gotten worse since mangini entered, now dream theater is just a great band instead of being the greatest
Portnoy is 1 of the best drummers ever. Just too good.
Good drummers are good at that. Danny Carey, Bran Dailor, John Bonham etc
Billy and Ron: "double necks"
Derek: Hold my beer

Danny Martin Welcome aboard!
@@dereksherinian3382 maybe you have in other bands ;)
Looks like a trip to Hollywood 2020🤘🤘🍻🍻
Same here, a very pleasant surprise indeed!
SAME HERE !!!!!
Billy Sheehan never ceases to impress me...I remember seeing him in the 80's with Mr. Big and thinking he was awesome then. I always wondered what he'd be like in a prog metal band and I'm not disappointed at all.
This is also true
I was about to Google Billy Sheehan, but you informed me.. thanks.. always check the comments for important info. It's like shine down meets dream theater
@Jacques Malan LOL sheehan is a bassist dude, the keyboardist is Derek sherinian
I didn’t even know he did prog metal, but he’s right at home here.
After the loss of Peart, I really needed to see and hear some Portnoy. Live forever, man. You're one of very few legendary drummers to continue to bring us inspiration.
Mangini is better.
@@tonypowell250
Love them both, particularly as MP also plays with Flying Colors. However, technically, Mangini is insane. Watch his breakdown of Pale Blue Dot, is he even human?
danny carey is the best imo
Agree with ya Nagel, Peart’s passing felt like I lost a friend and brother. These guys have helped me get over the pain hearing Portnoy do his thing.
All they are all great drummers guys. Let’s just be thankful we were alive to hear the genius and enjoy it like they want us too.
Miss ya Ghost Rider.
Peace
The be all end all of drummers Bobby Jarzombek ua-cam.com/video/TYtUYw3t0wA/v-deo.html
You know the song is good when Van Helsing is on the guitar
How come they've already working
I I need to know how to get to that far equalizer working
I'm going to hook a boost to help figure this morning little Bluetooth speaker get taken off put it back on and you're just in a long enough for UA-cam music I'll figure it out.

Me: Oh, this looks interesting?
Also me: Oh, it's Mike Portnoy! Hi Mike!
. .was playing some Queensryche on Yt and it just moved forward and played the next one in the set, i thought thats kinda complex for Eddie Jackson - open it - Oh ! , because its Billy ! :) alright , COOL ! and a new Vid to boot ! NICE shared
Portnoy plays in so many bands that I skip to every random video in the YT and there he is.
Best recommendation UA-cam has suggested to me this month
The closest I've heard to perfection in accessible progressive metal - comfortable and familiar, yet full of unexpected, clever and beautiful moments.
Producer: How many fretboards will you need?
Band: Yes.
it got old
The same about synthesizers
Producer: How many drum fills do you feel like playing?
Drummer: yes.
all !
all of then, and others on factory
Sons of Apollo are one of those bands that just makes my day.
Chrissy B I gotta add them to my Iron Maiden playlist I listen to while working.
Chrissy B I gotta add them to my Iron Maiden playlist I listen to while working. I love that keyboard sound.
Jeff Scott Soto...criminally underrated singer. Absolutely incredible
I would argue. He's ok like any decent garage singer. Nothing special to remember, unlike say Axl, or Bach, or Ozzy.
Stas Vdovin garage singer? Sure. Keep telling yourself that
Hammersmashed68 well everyone is entitled for his opinion, ain't it so? This guy is just one of dozens. Same as Ron Thal. Seems to be good, but who knows him widely? When I listen to slash or Zakk I can identify them. Thal? No way. Just another noname freak of guitar world (in a good way, he's really impressive).
You've heard of a German band called Master plan? They got the same problem. Once split with Helloween (where they played with amazing and recognisable singer) and organised a new band with an "ok" voice, they've lost the audience.
Take a look at the Winery Dogs. Mike, Billy and Kotzen, who's dramatically great at the mic.
PS: that's just IMHO. No offense
is that singing? do us a little Sinatra, Jeff or maybe just some Ray Charles
Yo, I agree. His power and control is really good. Yes, he's not the most diverse singer, but he does really well what he does in this style. I also love his screams on the new album. Also their live cover or Dream On was so good with his vocals.
Best accidental video click I have ever made.
At first i thought ross gellar on a keyboard, but i still needed to hear the whole song
Hahaha!! Same....veered off course...counter corrected and.landed here....Still here!🤘😆
Sound of mike portnoy drum always the best.
Derek Sherinian brings that something in this band that makes it so unique...
He's an incredible musician.
The same thing he did with DT
everyone of them, I think
Also, Bumblefoot. His style is unmatched
Sherinian plays like a guitarist, if you know what I mean, it really impresses me. Maybe it is due to his love for VH and EVH, I think so. He is very unique.
Nicely done UA-cam algorithm. Never heard anything about this guys and suddenly I’m a huge fan
First listen to this band, instant like & fan.
Amazing live! Hope you get to see them!
I love the fact that despite their genuine instrumental mastery, they still hold on to a song. It makes perfect sense even to a mainstream rock fan. And a musician is blown away by the composition, sound and unbelievable skills at the same time. It's just perfect.
Yeah, this is masterful. The more you listen to it, the better it gets. Just wow!
Well spoken, they hold onto a song. It still has structure. Most virtuosos just wank on a scale and it comes off like a circus. This gang also doesn't just djent their way through, there's some crazy variation here.
Fret less neck.. Fucking respect
fan day born 1975 solidgoldivan
never ✋ lisng music
I listened this 10x on repeat and on every turn I found another 10 reasons to hear it again.
Pure unadulterated talent combined in one space that defies explanation and blows the mind bending experience to new heights.....Awesome
Just saw Soto with Biieler at the Shark Tank on Fri. compliments of 98.7 The Shark, and I have to say, both Sotos' vocals and his presence absolutely blew me away! All I can say is it's criminal that I didn't know who Jeff Soto or Sons of Anarchy were until now. Hands down one of the most incredible vocalists I've ever heard and their music is... WOW! Instant fan!
P.S.
Somebody needs to talk to that DJ I spoke to. Because when I was the 8th collar and won the tickets, the DJ said yeah it's Jason Bieler from Saigon Kick and Jeff Soto who was one of the main vocalist from TSO. What you should have said, was Jeff Soto from Sons of Apollo, and if you've never heard of Sons of Apollo, prepare to have your mind blown! BE ADVISED... Sotos' singing is a spiritual experience!
Mike says: what if i make my own dream theater?
This song is way better than all dream theater stuff
@@daumoro JSAJSJAJSJAJ nou bro
@@daumoro you must be joking mate 😅
Just like DT the vocals are the weakest link.
Why did he leave Dream Theater just to be in another Dream Theater? Makes no sense.
Holy shit. I'm in my 50s and saw all these players since they started. This is the best of the best.
Supa doopa booma

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I still remember all the misery
Blind eyes couldn't see
We fled, we strive, we rose above the dreams
We survived in the end
[Verse 2]
Days in the nether, lost and confused
But still we're ready to rule beyond fantasy
Learnin' on livin' up, tough and abused
Preach seduction, this was our reality
[Chorus]
Shut down in vain, still we rise above salvation
Goodbye divinity
In the core of our damnation, goodbye divinity, yeah, yeah
We could find the fascination, goodbye divinity, I'm here to stay
Go! Yeah, yeah
[Verse 3]
I feel for the young who will never really know
How to harness the pain
Changin' times, realize, keep on the undertow
It's survivin' the game
[Verse 4]
Thrown in the crossfire, it's comin' again
Feelin' your life and promise [?]
Show you no mercy, when does it end?
The grim seduction, this was our reality
[Chorus]
Shut down in vain, still we rise above salvation
Goodbye divinity
In the core of our damnation, goodbye divinity, yeah
We could find the fascination, goodbye divinity, I'm here to stay
Goodbye divinity, now I'm takin' you all the way
[Instrumental Break]
Yeah!
[Chorus]
Shut down in vain, still we rise above salvation
Goodbye divinity
In the core of our damnation, goodbye divinity, yeah
We could find the fascination, goodbye divinity, I'm here to stay
Goodbye divinity, for you I pray, yeah, yeah
Goodbye divinity, I'm on my, goodbye divinity, I'm on my
Goodbye divinity, I'm here to stay
Wow !! what an ensemble of musicians !!! Love this music !!! Im in !!!! Cannot wait to see you guys live !!!
BBF is finally where he belongs, within a band that uses him to the fullest extent of his abilities and with equally gifted bandmates.
Agreed!
I think this band is still figuring out their template. They are too straight for the SKILLS of this band. (EX: all of them should take short solos in EVERY song, b/c that's what fans want.)
The Mahavishnu Orchestra CHANGED THE WORLD... by utterly disregarding the Business or Hit Songs etc. They COMMITTED to their insanity... which is why they and bands like Tool and NIN also hit the TOP 20.
Were you talking about that Axl n' Friends band? 😁
Try Jason Richardson 😎
TwoCats Yelling Dream Theater still has groove.
Billy Sheehan + Mike Portnoy = perfect rythym section
#WineryDogs ♫
except Sheehan's Scientology vibe. sounds made up to me...

This was refreshing. Thank you for the video I wish you everything the best to all.
Bumblefoot, Billy S. & Mike P.. Masters Live Action 💖
Can't help it but it really falling into infinity vibe at beginning
So great!!
aldi pratama falling into infinity just written by Derek and Mike so they can put some vibes of it because this how they sound when they play prog
Yes. Especially the keys. Has a New Millenium or Trial of Tears vibe
Derek's work
The intro has a very Lines in the Sand Vibe to it
so much fun ,i love to watch
!!!!
Bumblefoot and Sherinian really on fire! Behind, the monsters Sheehan and Portnoy supports all!! Jeff just fly beautifull... Excellent!!
Derek is by far the glue that sticks all of this together. So great to hear him on the prog metal side.
How come the keys player isn’t playing a fretless double necked keytar?
dthammify
He’s got a b3 🤷♂️
That’s a double keyboard for all intents and purposes...so I’d say the theme is intact...
hahahahahahahahahhaaa!!
dthammify If you look closely, you will notice it is fretless.🤘🏻
This got me cracked up
Cuz it's not Dream Theater.
Absolutely amazing!!!
Bumblefoot is a beast. Underappreciated in my humble opinion.
Most good guitarists know who he is and how good he is though. But yes, he is a beast and seems like a really humble person.
Absolutely!
Your humble opinion or your bumble opinion? Lol
Bumblefoot in GNR rocks
He is totally appreciated
I loved this song. Great intro. Good job guys! Can't wait for hear the full album!!! 🎶🎶🎶🎸🎸🎸
The song that Falling Into Infinity was missing. Brilliant work, Gentlemen!
Can't stop listening this thing! ❤
I just randomly got into this video... i'm just in love with the band now
I love how the melody starts and ends, you can do an endless loop perfectly
I feel like they must tell Ron “make sure in every solo you play at least one passage nobody else in the world is capable of replicating” 😂
5:25-5:28 sounding clean at that picking speed holy shit
Double guitar, double bass, triple keyboards, these guys are serious...
Mike Portnoy on drums...
Just add a violin and it would be perfect...
Rush feelings
Fukkn Bumpin!!!.. Baddest Out There!!
KB needs more...He needs to channel Keith Emmerson...LOL
Good to hear JSS still sounding fantastic. What a supergroup.
I love this!! Billy Sheehan is the reason I started playing the bass guitar.
He has always been a certified beast on Dat bass!!❤
This sounds exciting, love the energy
Cualquier disco o canción con Mike Portnoy de baterista es una garantía.
Video and song spectacular! Fabulous work gentlemen.
its about time in 2019 to hear real music from such epic players awesome!!!!!!!!

This band resurrect the 90's rock era. And i think it will smash really good !!
Outstanding!!! I'm speechless!
Absolutely love the build up on this song!!🔥🔥🔥
Awesome to hear real goddam musicians making real goddam music in 2019. Well done boys!
Plenty of musicians writing "real" music. You just have to drop the doucheness.
Randy Fricke there literally an uncountable amount of extremely talented bands out there. Most of them tend to be metal musicians. This was catchy. Was disappointed with the vocals and keyboard personally
Check out Billy's bass run at 4:26. So nice!
OpethianDream2112 fucking rad !
If only it was audible
I absolutely love these guys!
This song rocks! What great musicianship. I need this in my life.
Im glad all these guys are playing together. This is one of my favorite supergroups right here...
My opinion is shorter than the intro: this is a good song.
Absolutely epic! 👍 can’t wait for the album!!! Can’t get enough of this song.
MMXX is awesome!
DAMNNNN this is insane! i was impressed as all get out in the first 2 mins with all the skill across the band. then they just bust out even more skill and it kept going up!!!
Jeff is just the cherry on the pie ! Great to see the guy finally getting the crowd/credit he deserves...
I've got a fever... and the only thing that can cure it... is more digitally rendered swirling purple haze.
This is a great comment.
Wonderful pool of musicians !!!
Incredible sound love all the members in this group. Definitely going to listen to all your music and see live acts when available in my area 💯😉👍👊🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
all of these guys are like, max level at their instrument
only level 99 guitarists and bassist can equip double-neck guitars.
@Good Enough its true, lol. just like in RPG games, you cant simply equip a high level weapon/equipment. i dont think any drummer can just sit on that stool, lol.
no
not even close
Hanif Halimi couldn’t agree more!
Thanks for making our Friday night in November that much better SOA! Epic!! Looking very much forward to MMXX’s debut date and more music from Y’all!! Rock and Roll🤘🤘🤘
Perfect, great musicians, great song, Love it!
So Amazing, so inspiring!! Thanks for your music Derek Sherinian & Co !
It had been a long time without hearing something so cool like this! It really blew out my mind.
The vocalist has a killer voice.
history - was singing for malmsteen way back when, has helped out Journey, etc etc , fits the bill . . .
Jeff Scott soto legendary vocalist ....
El canta las canciones de la película rockstar, era la voz de Mark Wahlberg en la película
Only one voice though
JEFF SCOTT SOTO IS THE BEST VOCALIST. If you know how much Yngwie is a perfectionist had him singing in 1980s . You know your in Heaven when Jeff Sings.
This absolutely fantastic !!
Thanks for taking me on a Billy Sheehan rabbit hole today. Time well spent.
Prog, heavy, hard, AOR, fusion, all-in-one band!!! Amazing job, guys !!!!!
This is a serious upgrade from the debut. The sound is so much more sync'd.
Keep up the good spirit guys! It might take a while but in the end it's worth it, seriously!!! We're waiting (patiently)
this is one of the best rock songs i have ever heard
Portnoy is a unique drummer cause he plays exactly what you want to hear from a song..
Hard hitting too, like that I can hear the drums.
he's very technical but he's also super flavorful
I just found Metal Allegiance doing Dio's We Rock - HOLY SHIT !!! check that out !!
So truth!
Yeah, and he don't have to look like a bad ass drummer to be a bad ass drummer. He just is.....
so randomly log into you tube, ytou tube randomly plays this song for me. Well done you tube
Same, haha. Sometimes they get things right.
Had headphones on while shaving. Came up on Autoplay. I was like, "damn, that sounds like Portnoy." Did not disappoint. I'm now a fan.
1:50 Literally The Dance of Eternity - type drum beat
SoA bring me back to the wonderful time of “Falling into Infinity”. Still love that album a lot 💙
Mirco Marinelli It’s what DT could be if they had taken the short hiatus MP requested. I can’t listen to anything DT has done since Mike left. But that’s OK, we have SoA!
Jeff Scott Soto is a Monster!
Fernando Santos just like a like a hungry lion you can hear Jeff roar from miles away, unlike the tattooed kitty singer DT
@@robertolopiccolo5575 I wouldn't say either is worth paying attention to. James in the early 90s was insane until the incident and Jeff works with well with basically everyone else. Fuck I want him to find his way with SoA, he's got the skills but it just really doesn't come together
EDIT: that's not True, I don't know if Jeff has a reason not to be able to kill it now, james is fucked thanks to his throat but I want to believe Jeff just hasn't figured out his way of going about the band
drumboarder1 appreciations for your honest opinion about this 2 guys James and Jeff. I was already James voice’s fan in 1989 when I was 15 and I know all about the food poisoning in 1994.I was shocked about it.
But to admit is that he fucked his voice him self, because has to stop and rest from singing as much as possible to have some chances to rescue it and he didn’t against doctor’s orders.
So c’est la vie. About Jeff voice, he’s a lion I love it so much, maybe seems not the perfect choice now but just give them time and will see in the future ,don’t forget they’re all 50/60 But sounds like 30.
My respects man.
Aoooo BR e Corinthiano falando bem do Soto
Darn right!!!
Powerful , intriguing , ear pleasuring metal. Keep the banners up , Apollo's sons !!!
Excellent product,congratulations guys.Merry Christmas!
The only "supergroup" that deserves the name "supergroup"! Simply great!
Don’t agree at all, winery dogs are far best
When UA-cam recommends you a badass band and you feel like you just caught a shiny Pokémon. \m/
for shure!
That's not a group of guys. That's a room full of superheroes!!!!🤘😎🤘
Jeff Scott Soto turned 55 two days ago. So 36 years ago he sang on Yngwie Malmsteen's "Rising Force" album and tour. And in 2020 he still does a great job, as today the 6th of november launching his new solo album titled "Wide awake (in my dreamland)" to rave reviews. Respect!
OMG, this is mindblowing, especially the fact that these musicians that are all larger than life didn't make a generic technical song, but a song that is stuck in my head for two days. Love you guys! Also, Jeff
Theiy're so much more than the sum of the individual powers of each. What a huge concentration of talent, soul and skills! Can't wait for January...
What the hell, where has this been my whole life????? These guys rock!!!!
