Yes! I never take the time to use that amount of stuff. When I want to take a longer shower, i just stand under the running water for a longer time, relaxing, just standing. NOT SCRUBBING MYSELF WITH 10 DIFFERENT SOAPS. This is really crazy to me.

All this overconsumption is us trying to fill a void with things, or smelling good, or whatever. It’s sad. It’s a sign we are severely lacking true meaning and purpose in our lives that we feel the need to buy so many things.
Bottle out, bottle in friends and I cut the bottle open to scoop out what's left. A LOT of product gets tossed when you "think" it's empty. You don't need 5 of every type of thing and deodorant goes a long way in smelling nice, but not too strong. I used to overshop, but now I focus on getting bargains on my go to products, one refill at a time. Thank you for these de-influencing videos. We need them out here.
I got a cosmetics spatula. I also have to carry a lot of stuff on my person due to allergies. As a result I started putting things in travel containers. I also was way too old when I had the revelation that I can chance packing if I hate. I get lots of use getting products out and changing containers.
I don’t overshop, but it feels like I can’t just buy one item at a time! With all the deals and free gifts etc, I get so much product that I only need shop for beauty stuff every few months.
@@marynorton6068 I feel this in my soul. I wish I could mix and match for similar sales. I think I ended up with 5 bottles of the same makeup remover to get the sale then to use a coupon. I did actually use 3 bottles. I gave two away as gifts. I made a couple friends custom makeup kits. There was nothing else I wanted from the brand. At least I could take off sunscreen.
I once got almost a full month’s extra use out of a body lotion I thought was empty when I cut open the pump bottle! I’ll usually take a small spatula and scrape the last bits into smaller jars (from other old beauty products I’ve used up and cleaned out) to keep it airtight and fresh for sometimes a full month, while still easily being able to get the last bit out with my fingers. Another benefit of doing this is that having the packaging cut open and fully emptied makes it so much easier to clean and recycle it. Always check your local recycling rules for how to go about it but in general plastic packaging needs to be pretty clean to be recycled properly.
Literally been using the same products for 4 months I just buy the biggest size on sale and use it up for half a year until the next sale I can’t throw something out until I use everything like wipe it clean I’m going on my second sale shopping on the weekend.
I'm autistic and perfumes/colognes have been one of my special interests since I can remember. I mostly collect tiny samples rather than full bottles that I'm never going to finish, and share the whole collection with friends and family. I love fragrances, and I especially love a curated collection over a department store display.
I also enjoy my collection of perfumes and enjoy wearing them, but it is for ME. Sad that there is this consumerism push on scent as a moral high ground.
i only recently started getting into fragrance last year (AuDHD!!)… before, the only *perfume* perfume i would wear was taylor swift’s wonderstruck enchanted since it makes me nostalgic; besides that it would be just B&BW body sprays what kickstarted it was oakcha’s dupe for tom ford’s “lost cherry” perfume!! i think the only full-size bottles i’ve bought upfront were from oakcha (60 mL for under $100 but super strong and lasts a while)-i usually get travel sizes from a brand or decants from third party sites. literally a couple weeks ago was the first time i got a full-size bottle from a non-dupe fragrance house… commodity’s “milk,” and literally only got the 100 mL bottle because i used up my travel size a while ago and sephora has a deal where you can get a bunch of 1 mL samplers for $88 and exchange the coupon in for one full-size bottle. FREE… my favorite fragrance so there was zero chance i would pass on that-plus a lot of the other scents are really nice and my mom has taken a bunch loo i think i’m good on new fragrances for now because i do have a lot, but there is just a certain feeling i get (autistic-specific excitement lol) when i smell my favorite fragrances (B&BW’s “brown sugar fig,” commodity “milk,” oakcha dupe of TF’s “bitter peach,” etc.), so i’ll personally keep wearing fragrances for that reason and not hygiene reasons lol 🤣
Dove soap trend seems funny to me. Like, it's just a basic soap, not the best, not the worst. From what time it became a synonym to cleanliness and femininity? Marketing strategy success, indeed.
I can't use Dove soap. It makes me smell horrible and stinky. No other soap does that to me thankfully. I have been using mildly scented and unscented soaps of other brands and they work just fine.
@@kaylawaters2691 I obviously don’t know but my first thought is that maybe it’s your own smell. Yk since dove isn’t actually a “soap,” as in a surfactant, it’s a “beauty bar” in solid form and “body wash” in liquid form. They focus on the non stripping (and, therefore, often not as cleansing) aspect of body cleaning. But again idk and maybe you use other moisturizing cleansing products that work well.
One of the things that annoy me the most is the fact that they made almost every woman believe that sugar scrubs are necessary. The point of the scrubs are to exfoliate right? Well, you can literally do that with a product that doesn't run out. Like exfoliating gloves, exfoliating bath gloves, those long brushes that you can use to wash your back (if it's soft and hard enough at the same time, you can use it on anywhere). Like you can use these for a really long time before you need to replace them. Why buy sugar scrubs that you will need to re-buy every 4 to 5 showers? Their scents are not even permanent. It's literally a cash grab.
Yep, I'm Ghanaian and my net sponge exfoliates my skin perfectly well and costs less than a dollar here. I can use it for months until I am ready to get a new one
I found the more scented products I use to smell good actually makes me smell worse throughout the day especially when I sweat. I’ve opted into mostly unscented and fragrance free products and one good long lasting perfume.
I agree; most times at the end of the day, especially if I spray my skin with fragrance, it smells really chemically on me. which fragrance free products do you use? so far, dr bronners baby scent has me fresh all day
legit all it does is smell like body odor with perfume on top! i realised long ago that its more important to eat healthy/get proper nutrients and use antibacterial soap layered with unscented lotion/raw shea butter. its way worse to rely on scents from body wash/butter that either leave residue on your skin or clothing which clashes with your laundry detergent etc
I love pretty scents as much as the next person but I try to be mindful of people with allergies/asthma/sensory issues-like if you need to douse yourself in it then maybe see a doctor-
I feel you! I have sensitive skin and so sensitive to smells and those scents actually can give me a rash, just by being around it and also make me feel incredibly nauseous
@ same! I love scented candles, diffusers, but I just make sure the ingredients are high quality and “natural” and use perfume sometimes but it’s very light and not irritating and only if someone is close to me can they smell it.
I can’t believe there is a such thing as a “hygiene influencer.” Take a shower, brush your teeth. Wash your hair…what more is there to say? It is such a grift to be making money off telling people how to do something that is so basic to literally every adult lmfao.

I can't wait for us to graduate from the thought that bodies shouldn't stink. Smells can be identifiable for diseases, and as long as you're washing regularly then you should be fine. I do like Body Mists and a scent soap, but nice smells are nice. edit: Your vag is supposed to smell musky. It's normal and a sign it's doing well. Don't stick soap up there.
Seriously about vaginas. It’s literally a hole that leads directly to an internal organ that creates a bunch of excess lining that sheds every month and people think it should smell like flowers or something. It’s going to smell like.. a body part that does a bunch of things
PREACH 🗣️🗣️🗣️ What's crazy is some people like natural body smells, it's one thing to stink and just not being clean but to lather yourself in chemicals to smell a certain way is INSANE. Literally just a trend based on performancism and status
@dabriaaspen7343 I love scented perfumes, soaps and body sprays. I have one body wash and six body sprays lol. (I buy the B3G3 at Bath and Body works but that's it.)
Right as long as your lady parts don’t smell rancid like fish, or copper (which could be a sign of infection or BV) then you’re fine if you smell sweaty because your body sweats. Generally hot water is enough and mild soap on the outside. However your bum definitely needs cleaning considering what it does but a mild soap is plenty.

I work in class action law, normally in lawsuits, but for Flint, there was a program we helped with paperwork processing for. We helped families on SNAP and other government programs get sent clean water. It was very far from enough. Seeing everything Flint was going through from that lens, on such a personal level, it was heartbreaking. I love my career because I help people get some level of justice from companies and employers who are breaking laws, but sometimes it can weigh heavy on my heart to see the aftermath of the events that caused a need for lawsuits.
Growing up I instantly knew my mum was my mum from her natural scent and eventually ONE certain perfume she wore everyday. These babies gonna be so confused smelling all these different scents I could only imagine it’ll be overstimulating for these poor children 😢
I'm about to give birth to my second child and like with my first, the hospital specifically recommends getting non scented lotions and soaps for the postpartum period because the scent is so important for bonding.
I agree with this. For me, I like to smell good and I got a little obsessed with it as I got older. Also, I live in the tropics, so at least being fresh and not smelling sweaty is desirable. However, shelves upon shelves of products is overdoing it.
it's horrifying to me that as women we aren't considered clean or hygienic unless we smell like fucking flowers or something. like just showering and using deodorant is ENOUGH. you don't have to always be wearing perfume and use 7 scrubs so you smell like a cake. it's so unnecessary and every time i bring it up around people they always say "well no one wants being in public to smell like a barn" as if the only two options are having no personal hygiene or using 50 scented products. just use SOAP.
C’est marrant de voir à quel point les hommes ce sentent concernés au sujet de notre hygiène intime quand ils ne sont pas capable d’en faire autant pour eux … 🤯🤡
Trust me, men are starting to fall into the trap as well. Yes, we should try our hardest to stay clean, but it seems like everyone of every gender is overconsuming.
I really started cutting back 2 years ago. I love things that smell good so I was just blindly buying. I like bulk buying too so I'm learning to buy my bulk and USE it up BEFORE I purchase anything else..my stash is getting smaller and smaller #progress
My sensitive and dry skin saved me a lot of money, because I just can't use all these lotions and shower gels. Even the look on these gels makes my skin dry 😁
I had a moment where I tried to have a series of "routines." Coconut routine, vanilla routine, pineapple routine, etc. I was so overwhelmed by what I had that I ended up giving it all away and now use Dove shea butter body wash, a moisturizer, and call it done. I think some women are insecure and some are trying to show off that they can buy all this crap. I think many of them don't necessarily have the disposable income but are sacrificing experiences they could be having or a savings account to have a billion body scrubs they're going to have to throw away when they can't use them all before they expire.
I grew out of "love spell" as I got older but we still have a bottle with some left so we use it as a bathroom spray now LOL takes me back everytime i poop

As usual I really enjoyed your video. This type of content is so problematic for all the reasons you mentioned. Performing beauty to this extreme is so tired, I have other things to do and I'm not trying to increase my carbon footprint any higher than it is right now. I turn off the water when I'm brushing my hair in the shower and the internet will make you think that it's a radical idea. It's not. Like a lot to mainstream trends on the Internet this content is so ableist. So many people have psoriasis or eczema or just really sensitive skin and just shouldn't/ cannot put all of these products on their skin that ultimately strip us of our oil barrier which useful from an immune system lens. Thank you for the conversation!
Also toxins, no one talks about the toxicity of these perfumed products! I watched a video where a toxicologist said that because of ALL these perfumed products woman's baby and a grandchild could have disabilities!
Me watching this in the bathroom as I wash up with my unscented dove bar soap 😂 the shower and hygiene routines I see (like the scene with Sydney Sweeney in euphoria) are so overwhelming!! Also when I’m out in public I feel sick when someone near me is wearing a lot of fragrance 😭 ladies we don’t need all of this!!!!
Of course, women were afraid of losing their husbands' love. That was their shelter, food, and bank back in the day. Thank god I was born in this century. I'd have offed myself.
It’s interesting that Lysol was used in that way. Obviously we wouldn’t do something so toxic today. But it makes me wonder how many of the cheaply made products people overconsume today have ingredients that one day will be shown to be bad for us.
My mom bought me douche when I had my first period. She was obsessed with hygiene. Top that with my first husband telling me my downstairs stunk when I left him, and I'm still trying to have a healthy relationship with myself.
The irony of spending so much money and using so many products to try to smell good, when using all of them is what makes you smell horrible. Whenever I pass anyone wearing so much fake scent, either one or multiple layered, it makes me gag it smells so bad. Like you said at the end of the video, it's inconsiderate of others, especially people who have reactions to those products
@milky8471 probably not! I think it's more about amount, you know? Like if you were covering yourself head to toe with the lotion it might, but just using those a normal amount is probably not going to bother people
😅 I always found it so funny that people of African descent were given that unhygienic stereotype. Meanwhile, the Europeans were not bathing until 19th century. Native Americans claimed, they could identify them by their stench 😅. I don't think Black folks have to prove that clean thing anymore 🧼
People do have their own odor. Parents can identify their children based on their odor. Body odor, and stink aren't the same thing. This natural scent is why perfumes and colognes don't always work on people.
I'm a woman and hate showering 😅 basic shampoo, conditioner, body soap and face wash. If i have fo spend more than 10 minutes in the shower i am upset lol
Thank you for mentioning the “proprietary” undisclosed ingredients in fragrance and body care. I have severe allergies to synthetic fragrances (as well as essential oils) and I have no clue which chemicals cause my reactions…I only know that I have to avoid most brands of scented lotions and perfumes and axe and old spice. It’s important to be considerate of people with allergies when making the OPTIONAL CHOICE to wear scented products because when I’m stuck on the commuter train full of businessmen wearing musky deodorant and cologne, it triggers a severe migraine that lasts nearly all day, not to mention itching and hives! A family in like 2015 was trying to sue Axe because their son got hives in his throat or something from axe (imagine being a middle schooler in a locker room for gym class every day for one example) and they lost the lawsuit because axe’s formula is a secret. This is discrimination against disabled persons!!
Your content is great. I'm auntie years old and this is such a sad way to hurt us, distract us, strip us of our power and make us feel "less than ." At 44, I'm grateful to know a few things: that men hate women no matter what we do, so real self care is for me and so that i can be of service to others. I was the worst over consumer and I'm really working on it. Thank you so much for your message and spotlighting this issue. Our culture is toxic. We women need to be there for each other and chill with the performance art. Instead of being an effective woman and making something with my life, I literally ruined it with eating disorders. I'm extremely blessed that a Power greater than myself brought me to sanity and I'm, mostly, truly healthy. Also, Nivea Creme in the tin on 99.7% dry skin.
A couple years ago I finally threw out my collection of body washes, gels, and scrubs, some of which I had kept for at least 8-10 YEARS. Some were 1/4 to 1/2 full, others almost completely full. I felt so guilty that I didn't use them all up that I couldn't throw them out. I was finally able to let go when I moved to a different part of the country and it was just cumbersome to keep them. I now have one perfume I wear on special occasions and one each unscented body wash and deoderant. Such a waste of money and mental energy!
My autism and eczema could never. I literally have to use pure glycerine-only soap and lotion you can only buy at a pharmacy. My sister wears so much perfume I often have to kick her out of my room within seconds of her entering yet the scent still lingers.
I agree with the main points of your video, in particular your points re: overwashing of female areas. That being said, there is too much fear mongering around the "chemicals" that are used in US products. These "chemicals" are safe for human consumption when of course used in the normal course of human bathing and not shoved up unnecessary areas every single day. Related side bar: if you are a person with consistent hygiene, no one is going to comment or care on the way you smell, they are just going to be happy with getting it on. Don't worry so much
Further to this, there are studies that show that more body cleansing you do (scrubs with soap etc) can actually increase the amount of certain bacteria on our bodies! Our bodies are self cleaning, self protecting, beautiful machines. Give yourselves some credit and give the excessive washing a break. It's doing way more harm than good
And sorry to keep commenting on my own posts but at the end of the day, who you are and your personality matters so much more than any of this!!!! Be a good person with a vast life of interests and hobbies and you will go so far. Focus on yourself intellectually and socially and the rest will follow
As a minimalist and someone who is very sensitive to lots of scents and artificial ingredients this is all a nope to me. I use one organic coconut oil soap, one shampoo and conditioner, one organic body butter that has literally 4 ingredients in it and a natural deodorant. That’s it for body care. Oh and toothpaste. Let me add, the cleaner you eat, the less body odor you will have. I’m a healthcare provider and this is something I learned in nutrition class. I find it to be true. The less fast food, sugar, sodas, and just plain junk that I eat and the more whole fruits and vegetables I eat as well as drinking lots of water make a big difference in how I smell.
Honestly, i just like the process of pouring into my own hygiene. I like the smell of a vanilla body wash and scrub , coming out of the shower to lsther up in my vanilla and gingerbread lotion and bbw body spray. Its like my little ritual, my me time, it makes me happy and i can appreciate my senses in that little time to myself. Its fun. Theres no harm in indulging in being a girly girl🥰
I’m so glad you brought up allergies because I’ve had such bad responses when I’ve spoken up about it. People say anything from you can’t expect others to cater to you, to I don’t care I want to smell good. I have rosacea so my skin starts to burn and turn red and itchy when I’m around strong fragrances. Sucks that people are so inconsiderate
Thank you for this video. I am so tired of this constant barrage of Native and Lume all-body deodorant ads that are infecting social media. I even got a freaking Lume ad on this video! I just want to scream at my TV "Women are allowed to smell!"
Wow this brought me back to college and i had a new roommate in college who had so many different bbw products from the sprays, shower gells and lotions. She would spray nearly 1/4th of a bottle of bbw body spray on her self every day and the room smelled worse the bbw store. I rarely could stay in there when she was getting ready with out choking on the smell as I am sensitive to strong smells and she wouldn't stop even after telling her.
THANK YOU for this video because most normal people don't buy a shit ton of hygiene products every week. Because it's NOT realistic. I will watch them if I want something new to try, but at the same time, a lot of the products are overrated and not affordable. Example: vanilla girl hauls... NO ONE is going to use multiple products that all smell like vanilla? it's over kill. You can smell nice but not buy 10+ products to do so. Everytime I comment on these youtube videos which normally are targeted towards naive young kids, I am told that I am "jealous" when that's not the case??? I have TWO body washes and while I don't really like their scent, I STILL use them because I'm not going to just buy 5 body washes because it's SO unrealistic.
i rarely leave any comments to videos i watch but i just couldn't resist it this time because YOU'RE SPITTING FACTS!! it's a great video and i really liked that you didn't just put all the blame on women who are overconsuming stuff but also explain why and how this happens, how women historically have been persuaded to get the unnecessary items for the males gaze, even ruining our health for its expense. i just wanna say thank you for this video, please take all my views cuz i gonna marathon through your content lol
As someone who has multiple skin conditions, I unfortunately have lots of different items to wash and moisturise with, howeverI stick to unscented stuff mostly because I’m sensitive to the fragrance stuff, plus it allows me to wear perfume because I don’t have 3 million scents going on!
If I'm walking down the street and get a massive whiff of your perfume, it just reminds me of my grandmother drowning herself in Avon body spray and just screams tacky to me.
These fragrance things are painful to watch as a migraine sufferer. These people must reek from all those fragrances piled together. It's just too much. I feel like I'd start getting a migraine if I was in the same room with one of these ladies & their perfumey stuff.
If I have extra to spend, I'll 100% stock up on my products that last forever when they go on sale or are always in short supply. Plus them changing up formulas randomly also makrs me paranoid when I finally find something that my skin finally actually likes. 😅
And they are also calling people who dont double cleanse, use a washcloth and exfoliate five time a week and shower twice a day dirty💀 once i commented that i shower once a day and not use body wash every day when i havent been sweating, and that i only use soap under arms and private area and feet every day. They said ”green aura with flies” or something like that. And that they know i smell…
I like your thoughts about the intimate or internalized mindset behind personal care. I think because of that this content is so polarizing-people who need guidance (or children) latch onto it and people who are confident in their basic hygiene practices reject it. Also I feel like perfume specifically was once seen as something so intimate only your partner would be close enough to smell. You can smell these 200 step routine girlies from a mile away. And they're the worst people to sit next to at the movies or stand behind in a long line at the bank lol
My wake up call was the clutter, and the expired product. By the time I got around to using a particular lotion, it already expired. And that’s when I only got something new as a replacement
@@Kaelyia it depends. Some of them are going to prefer the loitions that are moisturizing without being greasy. I've recently become aware of hyper-consumerism in the past months and how social media preys on the regular person to just keep buying no matter what. At school I live in a small dorm, and at home, I live in a small house, and seeing these influencer's shelves and shelves of sugar scrubs and lotions makes me feel extremely claustrophobic. Probs doesn't help that my mom was a hoarder too. But like, once you are "awake" to the consumerism and lies you are being told on the daily, it's hard to go back to sleep. Especially in this economy. I do love perfumes and scents, but I'm not buying anything new and trying to work through my rotation. If I'm gifted something--that's great! If there's a scent that i've been eyeing for a really really long time, I will get the small 1oz size if available. Makes more more sense to me space-wise and often price-wise I wasn't aware of hygiene being linked to race and class. That's just so messed up on so many levels. being clean with even just a bar of soap is something that can turn a bad day for me into a much better one.
As someone who grew up not being taught the importance of hygiene, and in 9 grade when I did, struggled to take showers regularly and consistently, I can not imagine doing this. At any point in my life.
I don't remember, "That's what girls do." But I do remember No Scret's doing a bop of a cover of Kids in America for the Jimmy Neutron movie ---- I may still listen to it to this day 😅

As a teen, I've been told to give into overconsumption as soon as my body odor literally starts existing. I have exams to take. Promoting products is not my job like these people, I promise what you're currently doing and a $5 deodorant and body mist (body mist is hella optional) does the job lol
Also, I live in one of the most polluted cities in my European country. Yall wasting bath water while I'm worrying about what we'll drink in the future? I just became a teen these shouldn't be my worries!!
Gawd, I HATED the smell of Love Spell, pear and melon and all the VS and Bath and Body Works scents because the girls were going od with them in jr and high school. Like they made me physically sick for years. Those scents motivated me to wear actual perfume at like 11 because the idea of adding to the collective musty fruit punch smell me nauseous.
Although I agree that hygiene TikTok videos and even UA-cam videos are over the top, some people actually enjoy smelling good and like to try different smells. Not trying to start an argument here but just my opinion as I do have mists/body cream collection that I love to use every day.
I was only ever "that girlie" when B&BW's semi-annual came around with the $3 soaps and creams. Last time I made it through my stash, I decided never again. (And I see you with the No Secrets ref! Broke my Powepuff Girls movie vhs rewinding that song!)
Ironic that this level of competitive overconsumption is portrayed as self love, in a way, when it's really teaching self-hatred at a very deep level.
I agree, something that is meant to look as self love in reality stems from lack of self acceptance.

As a special interest that's totally fine.
I also enjoy my collection of perfumes and enjoy wearing them, but it is for ME. Sad that there is this consumerism push on scent as a moral high ground.
Yes, my sister does that. Cute and smell waaayyyy better than the bigger bottles.
@@MistyPremium do you have a favorite in your collection? :)
i only recently started getting into fragrance last year (AuDHD!!)… before, the only *perfume* perfume i would wear was taylor swift’s wonderstruck enchanted since it makes me nostalgic; besides that it would be just B&BW body sprays
what kickstarted it was oakcha’s dupe for tom ford’s “lost cherry” perfume!! i think the only full-size bottles i’ve bought upfront were from oakcha (60 mL for under $100 but super strong and lasts a while)-i usually get travel sizes from a brand or decants from third party sites.
literally a couple weeks ago was the first time i got a full-size bottle from a non-dupe fragrance house… commodity’s “milk,” and literally only got the 100 mL bottle because i used up my travel size a while ago and sephora has a deal where you can get a bunch of 1 mL samplers for $88 and exchange the coupon in for one full-size bottle. FREE… my favorite fragrance so there was zero chance i would pass on that-plus a lot of the other scents are really nice and my mom has taken a bunch loo
i think i’m good on new fragrances for now because i do have a lot, but there is just a certain feeling i get (autistic-specific excitement lol) when i smell my favorite fragrances (B&BW’s “brown sugar fig,” commodity “milk,” oakcha dupe of TF’s “bitter peach,” etc.), so i’ll personally keep wearing fragrances for that reason and not hygiene reasons lol 🤣
Shout out to my cetaphil body wash and lubriderm lotion. You’ve never done me wrong.

Don’t forget Vaseline 🙌🏽
@@evaphillips2102 Vaseline is for me. Everything else makes me itchy and break out in rashes.
Right up there with Dawn Dish Soap in all the cleaning videos. Dawn is super normal.
Their whole body positive push helped. It was genius.

I agree; most times at the end of the day, especially if I spray my skin with fragrance, it smells really chemically on me. which fragrance free products do you use? so far, dr bronners baby scent has me fresh all day
legit all it does is smell like body odor with perfume on top! i realised long ago that its more important to eat healthy/get proper nutrients and use antibacterial soap layered with unscented lotion/raw shea butter. its way worse to rely on scents from body wash/butter that either leave residue on your skin or clothing which clashes with your laundry detergent etc
that's not how it works for most people. Unless whatever you use has cheep oils in them, so they oxidize on you during the day and change their smell.

I feel you heavy. So many people just put on WAY too much perfume and it gives me a headache.
I'm the same way, and it's so frustrating to try and explain that to people sometimes
I can’t believe there is a such thing as a “hygiene influencer.” Take a shower, brush your teeth. Wash your hair…what more is there to say? It is such a grift to be making money off telling people how to do something that is so basic to literally every adult lmfao.
💯 Basically. Wash your hair, body, and teeth like a grown up.

Even when you have the disposable income this is still too much

It never smells good when people wear a lot of fragrance. They smell like chemicals. Less is always more
I have a gel, bodylotion and deodorant with the same scent will it bother other people ? I only use those 3
@milky8471 probably not!
I don't think Black folks have to prove that clean thing anymore 🧼
it has always been projection!!
People do have their own odor. Parents can identify their children based on their odor. Body odor, and stink aren't the same thing. This natural scent is why perfumes and colognes don't always work on people.

Ashley's research always astounds me, so well done and well presented every time!

Makes more more sense to me space-wise and often price-wise
I wasn't aware of hygiene being linked to race and class. That's just so messed up on so many levels. being clean with even just a bar of soap is something that can turn a bad day for me into a much better one.

The first vid reminded me of those song/chant things, you know, the twig on the branch, and the branch on the tree, and the tree in a hole, and the hole in the ground and the green grass grows all around all around and the green grass grows all around
14:09 same for indyans. We are brown so we are often perceived as not yk hygnic. Whereas poorer masses in that Country cant afford such things and they sweat a loooot . tropical countries would make u sweat and smell and if ur poorer hygien is a privilege . Those who can do in rivers ..etc. Its not as simple. But Prejudice without nuance.
Being clean is a good thing, but ngl as someone who gets headaches from scents, this just looks like not only a sensory nightmare, but a migraine and a half waiting to happen.
I'm older than you and the perfume in my junior high was CKone 😂
I'm still dealing with the internalized idea that I'm still the stinky girl from that junior high, but i feel like a lot of the perfumed stuff is excessive. Just take a shower, brush your teeth. 🤷 And i had no idea there were hygiene influencers 😂
Right! Overconsumption is overcompensating for a void that, if given the attention IT needs, can be rectified. 💯🎯‼️
What in the yeast infection? I can't use any of that crap, my eczema would kick my butt
Although I agree that hygiene TikTok videos and even UA-cam videos are over the top, some people actually enjoy smelling good and like to try different smells. Not trying to start an argument here but just my opinion as I do have mists/body cream collection that I love to use every day.
Personally, i love b&bw but there is no need to have a whole book shelf worth of perfumes/lotions/shower gel/body scrub
The fact that i got a feminine hygiene add while watching this 😭💀🤚🏻
I don’t want to be clean all day, just glowy
I was just talking with a friend about this last night, so I was so happy and surprised to see this notification!
I was only ever "that girlie" when B&BW's semi-annual came around with the $3 soaps and creams. Last time I made it through my stash, I decided never again.
(And I see you with the No Secrets ref! Broke my Powepuff Girls movie vhs rewinding that song!)
The first tiktok gave me a migraine
They keep you guessing the whole day through!
