This is an incredibly interesting and important interview. Our incomparable military and the intelligence agencies work for the people of the United States as directed by the ideologues we elect. It is incumbent upon us to elect principled individuals with a strong grasp of history.

whats also interesting is that this same discussion could have taken place in the early 1970s in the wake of the war in South East Asia. It feels like no lessons had been learned. The men that privately pushed back on the Iraq war were Richard Armitage and the late Colin Powell , men who had spilt blood on the battlefield and lost friends.

SO PAINFUL to hear how senior people overruled the agency’s experts and others, and led America into an unnecessary war, and then made terrible decisions about “the day after” that led to the insurgency. So many US deaths, and we took our eye off of Afghanistan, and that failure also attributable. NO ONE PUNISHED FOR THIS. I applaud his honesty.

I really appreciate his perspective on Central/South America. Our history down there is at best complicated and to hear him essentially admit this, discuss the tough choices that were made, to acknowledge having to understand all the different sides in the region, and to admit there were some difficult lessons learned is very refreshing. This is all especially true with his family background.

Great interview. One correction Ana Montes is of Spanish Puertorican descent. Not really, puertorican as she was born in Europe and raised in the states. She now lives in Puerto Rico as a tactic to speak against us policy towards Cuba and get sponsored by communist groups in PR. I highly recommend you do research about Filiberto Ojeda Rios and FBI operation to take him down.

Excellent discussion and perspective on the Iraq War.
One thing i would add. The USA now has $33 trillion of national debt. $23 trillion of that was run up post 9/11 and it continues to grow at an alarming rate.
Other nations are looking at the US and trying to figure out if America is going to go broke in the medium/long term. Its not hard to see that the Saudi's and Indians are hedging their bets by maintaining good relations with the Chinese. America cant even defend its own border from illegals. It certainly wont be able to afford to be the defender of the Free World.
