I didn’t discover the upside down castle in Symphony for years, so I wasn’t expecting to rip through this so fast. It’s the closest feeling to Symphony that I’ve had since a kid. I’d put this game right up there w Aria of Sorrow and Symphony as the best the genre has to offer. Love your video!

"How Bloodstained Kept its Promise." Well that's easy: It's focused on that one game alone with stable management, some frequent updates, a little help here & there, more polished then Poland, no Molyneux-eske claims that the game has (but does not), and it's not published by Deep Silver. The problems with MN9 was that the house of Inafune wasn't focused on one, but several, like a supposed spiritual Megaman Legends sequel and an anime. It's so bad, they couldn't get the explosions correctly, despite the long delays past.

I have been giving this game the cold shoulder for awhile. Even though it's not quite exactly what I wanted graphically, it still looks good and I will play it one day. Loved Curse of the Moon though
Thank you for this video! I was going through my local game store and saw this game. I passed it up but the cover made me want to look it up, tomorrow I'ma definitely pick this up now!!
Dracula is in the public domain, so theoretically they could have made this even more like Castlevania as long as the left out castlevania-specific characters like the Belmonts.
I am so glad I played the handheld castlevania games before this. Thanks to a friend of mine, I was able to experience those games along with some other titles, bloodstained was on my list of games this year to get and I wasn't disappointed. Plus we have more content coming down the road too, all the more reason to return and slay the creatures of the night! Well done with the video here, Hunter.

I just flat didn't know, and wouldn't have known about it if not for Yu Suzuki. Ever since the 7th Continent and Evil Dead debacles I've grown beyond disillusioned with Kickstarter, something that really had a lot of potential for new artists and creators. If I hadn't heard that they were doing one for Shenmue III I would have never even heard of it. The reason I didn't buy it was because my other choice was Samurai Shodown, which I don't regret *at all* and these types of games just don't last me as long as a fighting game which I will play until I change systems. I still want to get it (For me, there's really no such thing as being "too much like Symphony of the night or Order of Ecclesia.) =3
Is it?real question. I still hear plenty of complaints. I ended up getting the ps4 version last week because I'm not loaded and couldn't risk wasting cash.
Great review, I really appreciate the context you establish, for example the creators segments, and the history of Castlevania in general. I still play Castlevania Symphony of the Night every few years, but I am enjoying Bloodstained so much... I could see it being the game I revisit every few years instead, it feels so special and lovingly crafted. I also appreciate this game restores some trust and goodwill in the kickstarter process, because I still think that, its a nice way to get certain types of games made/funded. Also, somewhat randomly, but I want to see Iga cameo in What We Do in the Shadows. He'd be great in that!
I´m so glad that I saw this review after playing the game. David Hayter's voice was a heart melting surprice and totally made my day (big time MGS fan), already suscribed BTW.
Don't forget too that there was a short prelude to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night called Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. It's lower quality to be sure being full 8-bit but has all the main characters from Ritual of the Night. It's worth checking out if you enjoyed Ritual of the Night.
I used it with spears slot because if an enemy is too close the spear's hitbox doesn't connect. Right where the portraits circle crosses the spear shaft.
This game is amazing. I’m so glad I trusted in Igarashi-San. This man is a genius. Such a great game.. yes some of the story & writing are a bit odd but ultimately it’s a great game. So many different play styles and builds you can make with all the shards and abilities. All the hairstyles & ways you can make Miriam your own! It’s astounding. Go out and buy this game!

Just finished watching I absolutely loved it. You pretty much perfectly explained your points, and I could feel your passion for the Metroidvania genre, and that was great ! Man am I glad to see that Michiru Yamane was back for Bloodstained. I can't get over this game's OST, i'm humming it all the time. The Tower of Twin Dragons's theme might be the one I like the most. Also, me and my friends have been calling Zangetsu Weeb Snake ever since we knew David freaking Hayter was going to voice him. He really fits him well, I love how much work was put behind that game. These years of waiting have been totally worth it.
Bloodstained left a feeling of jubilation that I can only compare to the Tales of series which is my all time favorite game franchise. I love this game so much that it's an easy contender for one of my favorite video games ever. I think once you finished a playthrough, you can go into a sound test mode where Iga, Robert Belgrade and David Hayter make self referential quotes and "kept you waiting huh" was one of them.
Amazing breakdown. I appreciate all the effort you put into making this. I can't even imagine the amount of time it took to edit this. Glad I found your channel 😁 7
I honestly didn't think Iga could do it. But he made a proper SOTN sequel. (I know the GBA ones were good but they felt like a slight step down) I was so happy playing through this game. I completed the game last week and I already miss the Castle and the gameplay. 😭
@@Yanikun I played on PC too but the only bug I encountered was with Gebel. He glitched out of his boss room once. Other than that, I had no issues. Guess I got lucky? Or maybe there were differences between the Steam and GOG versions? I got the game on GOG.

Excellent video, You are the "Iga" of youtube game reviews. Competent, Passionate and talented.
Future Viewer reporting in: They parched away most of the Switch port’s problems! Now it’s a solid choice for portable players.
That's great! Now I can get it without a problem
Is it?real question. I still hear plenty of complaints. I ended up getting the ps4 version last week because I'm not loaded and couldn't risk wasting cash.
@@zgmf-x19ainfinitejustice28 I can only speak for myself. The patched Switch port gave me no problems except for not being as pretty.
I disagree. It still crashes a lot, the towers slow down the game and the game takes way too long to reload after dying
Picking this up this week thanks to you
Literally the best indie game all year. Iga is a true legend. Never doubt yourself Iga.
Bunnymorphosis feels like the most OP shard that i've used
Not sure about OP but it is fun. Haven't fully powered it up yet though.
You spelled rigea stormaea wrong
I´m so glad that I saw this review after playing the game. David Hayter's voice was a heart melting surprice and totally made my day (big time MGS fan), already suscribed BTW.
nice nice very nice Sphere Hunter-chan!
Your videos are always positive and Refreshing
"Changing my gameplay experience" Literally EVERYONE is using the painting shard
your voice is simply captivating. I love your videos hun
"Weather is getting nice."
It was 115 degrees on Saturday.
Totally picked this game up because of you, Suzi.
Its likeaying a cute version of Soma in a whole new adventure.
I love it- thank you!
"Lower Quality"? Curse of the Moon was popular enough to get its OWN SEQUEL!
Yeah I wouldn't call it lower quality just because it's 8 bit.
What a great written video! This may be the best Bloodstained review I have seen so far. Simply excellent!
Welcome Company was my go to Shard the entire game, mostly because I played with Katanas and felt like I was playing Vergil with Summon Swords :).
I used it with spears slot because if an enemy is too close the spear's hitbox doesn't connect. Right where the portraits circle crosses the spear shaft.
Your voice is made for this! I love it!
Fantastic video as always Suzi. I’ve been a fan ever since your REtrospective, from your voice,to the amount of research and your overall passion for the games you talk about. I genuinely mean it when I say I get excited for your vids
Ill wait for your DinoCrisis review
Thank you for this video, this is exactly what I wanted to see - not so much just the game I wanted, but everyone out in the world to like it too, so we can keep going. I was a big part of the community and that was my mission. Everything has gone great and it gives me chills to see people appreciating it the way it was meant to be like this.
...also I just got a new Dino Crisis shirt yesterday lol.
This is easily one of the best games of 2019.
I watch your vids in the background while playing more grindy games, but you have convinced me to try many more games that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. Now I have a switch I'll have to pick this game up!
This game turned out amazing and I love it
I also want my 1999 game
I'm so happy you enjoyed it and and ecstatic to know that the Switch port is being worked on for the better.
This game just got a new fan and you just got a new sub. *throws wineglass*
I had that same glitch where I fell thru the tower at the two-headed beast boss. Great review as always.
F
I didn't get that one. I got the glitch where he just wouldn't DIE. But that was literally 2 hours after release. I was gobbling this game UP.
Vampires who wear cowboy hats are such an aesthetic though. Very.... sexy.
The art at the end was AMAZING :D
You can make *JoJo poses* in the game, apparently....
There are several Jojo references.
Press and hold up on the dpad
And there's a vampire who can stop time and throw sharp objects at you. Hell there's even a stone mask
Thank you so much for your vids!! I love that you include extra info in your vids that are relevant.
Btw your voice is amazing
You've heard that
Girl you got good content and good delivery and I cant wait til you explode
I never played a Castlevania game, but I was able to make Miriam a discount Clare. That’s worth the money, if you ask me.
Great video! I've been a big fan of Castlevania SotN, and I'm glad Bloodstained kept the original vibe and aesthetic. This game quickly became one of my favorite games of this year, contending to be one of my favorite games of all time.
14:22 I wonder if he snuck in a "kept ya waiting huh" somewhere in his dialogue 😂
Unfortunately he did not. I was hoping while playing the game, but it never happened :c
I think once you finished a playthrough, you can go into a sound test mode where Iga, Robert Belgrade and David Hayter make self referential quotes and "kept you waiting huh" was one of them.
I liked your review of this game and how you tried to include your friends experiences aswell. I also really love your voice :)
Fantastic video breakdown. The game is a genuine Kickstarter success story! ;-)
Don't have a PS4 yet, but looking forward to this game for bloody ages. Thanks for another well spoken and researched quality video thing
Shout out to ValkryieAurora, lol! I just finished watching her Valkyrie Ventures on this, and her buggy experience is definitely something haha!
I saw that too she must've played the Switch version 😂
@@ladynikkie PC.
@@Yanikun I played on PC too but the only bug I encountered was with Gebel. He glitched out of his boss room once. Other than that, I had no issues. Guess I got lucky? Or maybe there were differences between the Steam and GOG versions? I got the game on GOG.
Rest in peace valkyrie :(
I'm so happy to hear that it has turned out so well. I'm very excited to play it. It looks beautiful and I can't wait for all the surprises to come. (I skipped the middle of the video to preserve the mystique, but I'll come back and watch it through after I've completed the game.)
well i'm already level 76 with 90% of the map done on the Switch so any day now with that update would be neat
So glad I backed this on Kickstarter years ago...was well worth the 4 year wait. :)
