CHARLENE IS A POWER HOUSE, WELL DONE
I can’t believe the amount of work Charlene accomplished! Was that all in one day? Amazing!
I’m not that quick 😂 two days on the Ivy x
2 days but still amazing 😁👍
Ur incredible. You work like i do, but im so far away. I'd be there in a heartbeat@charlenebessell6736
The brick jutting out is to get on to your horse without getting a leg up from another person x
Yep and the stablehand to sit and wait for a carriages arrival, to water (in that trough) the horse or team and after visitor arrives, take it off to stables.
Great minds think alike 😊 from a avid horse rider since 2.5 years of age and you ? Greeting from sunny New Zealand 😊@@cynthiabroockman1752
Hello Charlene! 🙌 You’ve already made a difference. Thank you for helping out Lesa and Ted. You’re a star! Lovely to see you again. ❤❤
Cheers Charlene! It’s great when she comes. She gets a boatload of work done!!!
Queen Charlene! Fabulous job, bless your heart! Xxx
How about planting fruit trees? Very suitable for pies, sponges, apple sauce for your roast pork etc
Well done Charlene your a star for helping Ted and Lesa. Xxx
Once you remove the ivy from the walls, you can pour vinegar and salt mixture to kill out the roots. It works for me. I'm so happy Charlene is there to help!
They tried vinegar and salt last time they removed the Ivy. It does not work. Read comment on last vinegar comment.
They have said they tried that and it did not work.
Copper nails perhaps? Though could be difficult to procure
I woud not pour salt close to a stonewall, not even in France….
The little stepnis a mounting step to help you get on a horse x
Gods bless Charlene - what a trooper and great friend!!!!
Hope Charlene is ok, it’s a good idea to wear a mask when removing ivy - it can cause breathing problems.
Well done Charlene great jobs done
The drapes look great with the chair.👍
It's always a treat to see the charming and personable Charlene, la Reine de Bolton, Queen of the Grafters! Not only does she weed walks, mow grass, and remove ivy, she also took the time this episode to raise Lesa to the peerage. La Comtesse de Montmagner has a nice ring to it!
She’s the true queen 👌🏻
@@charlenebessell6736 Of course, you're right, Charlene...but there's still only one Queen of Bolton!
@@theophiluskampfer1439 ❤️
Well done Charlene nice job👍. Love the curtains you chose Lesa , Nice job all round😘
Thanks so much 😊
Wow I wish had even 1% of Charlenes dynamism
Would that area be good for fruit trees? Charlene is a great helper/volunteer. lol lol good job Lesa ... that was easy enough. I like this part of the building too!!! Love the windows and door space. Maybe feed or water??? he ivy damages the stone. I can't wait until you can get into that building!!! Wonder what it was used for? This looks so awesome and will be outstanding when the ivy is gone!!! Wish Charlene had help! lol My goodness she has been working hard! Looks so very good.
Good to have helpers who are as work-oriented as you two are.
Charlene sure works hard when she comes to visit the Chateau, she is a great asset to the renovation of such an usual building. Kathy USA 🇺🇸
Wow, love seeing the chateau from the other side. Charlene did an amazing job with starting to remove the ivy. Can't wait to see that part of the chateau free of all the ivy. It's fun discovering new aspects of the chateau that were previously hidden or not yet discovered. 💪💪👏👏
Love the curtains Lisa! Teddy bear is so talented. Someone get him a lathe
Welcome, Charlene,
You are a fabulous help with a great personality. I'm glad to see you back.
Ted and Leza. The place is looking great. I look forward to Monday for the hallway reveal.❤
Good job Charlene!!!
❤❤❤ I'm from South Dakota and also lived a time in North Dakota. Imagine my smile when I saw your t shirt. That makes you family ❤
The curtains look perfect.
6:20 to 7:30 is the best bit of sweet talking I've ever seen, and I'm well-versed in the art myself.
Excellent job Charlene xx🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊
Charlene is amazing! Happy she is there to help with her sense of humor and lovely smile. The hallway looks really nice. I like the curtains. They are a finishing touch. ❤
31:38 the door turned into a window has its twin at the other corner where u have to rebuild stone stair wall. so kool
Leisa you can really charm Ted. Great work Charlene!
A friend of ours puts pool salt in the spaces between the patio stones which stops the weeds growing. They do have a small patio though lol😊
It’s nice to see that ordinary people. Doing this owning and fixing these beautiful old buildings not those toffs who expected people to do it for them
Well done Charlene ❤
I had wondered if Charlene was returning and here she is :) thank you to this lovely lady for all she does to help you.
Maybe Carsten is on his way sometime soon as well. You have the best volunteers and friends.
Can you not get free trees from gov't in France. The laundry and storage room is looking great was funny you used the ladder to go up to the new project maybe the idea of the hatch door? not sure what the codes would be around this but would make getting supplies up easier and just open the door and laundry easy solved.
Ted, you are an absolute treasure. ❤
She’s a rock star💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Welcome back Queen Charlene! Great progress!
You are Amazing Charlene brilliant job 🍻
Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
A good blog, nice to.see Charlene back taking some of the pressure off you both. Such a lot of work to do, but you make it look easy. A good watch...Well done...
Loving all the camera angles and content. Great job and great to see Charlene again.
Not sure we agree 🤣 we have to walk through doors 5/6 times 🤣
Awe Charlene love it when you come to help…wish I could come! Lesa and Ted you both amaze me ❤
That sticky out stone is for getting On & Off your Steed when youve been to the Tavern!!! Plus a Drinking Trough for the Steed!
lol Charlene saying how ami guna get that all in lmao, great vlog really loved it all yes that ivy has to go completely itl take the walls and ruin everything stone wise 😊
It looks really good
Grass does not grow under Charlene feet. It looks so nice !
Great job Charlene! I hate ivy.
Good job everyone, looking forward to your next video!
Great work all round ❤🎉
Charlene is a gem! She probably didn't use have her strength to pull down that ivy.
And you all pull your weight as usual. I loved seeing the back of the chateau.
it is good to get the ivy out not good for the walls but you know that good luck with it a lot of work for sure
Thank you for another great video of all the work you've been up to!😊❤😊❤
Charlene is dish a hard working person
the craftmanship is so good in these days , so good you keep as much as possible 😉 i need to wear ivy to hide my cracks in my face 😜 happy easter guys
If you love the look of the ivy, you could replace with / try Boston Ivy
I really like your South Dakota t-shirt. Born and raised there but now live in Nevada. I hope you have been able to visit the state.
Charlene, Wonder Woman. 4 days … you can do it.
Charline is a God sent!
You can weed a stone path more quickly by either spraying it (carefully!) with a vinegar and salt mixture OR torching the weeds. We keep the weeds out of our bricked walkway and around borders by walking around with a blowtorch and then following up with the vinegar mixture. Very effective and does not damage the bricks.
Love the South Dakota shirt! That's where I am. Your progress has been great. Thanks ka for the videos!!
Thanks for watching!
A hand grinder will cut those root , My son used one to get Ivy off my wooden fence , loppers take forever. ❤❤❤
You can use white vinegar and salt mixture to kill the weeds in the walkway and courtyard.
Tried this for a year with no success, digging up is the only thing that works 👍
Agree doesnt work but if you look for a product luke we have here in US Captain Jacks organic they make version will kill it ofg. Digging roots up is a bear, but you can also paint on copper sulfate after drilling or cutting into stump or thicknesd n will kill it. Ivy sucks unless in a pot imho! Imho of course. A rake wide w/short stiff teeth will allow you to reach up and snag ivy and pull alot of it down - just wear goggles for loosr mortar raininh down on you. 😊
Curtains look just right another bargain 🙂
I think you’re going to need a small army to pull all that ivy off!😂😂😂❤❤❤
Fantastic job ❤❤
Thank you! Cheers!
I hate ivy on buildings. It's so destructive.
My father used to cut the main stems and leave the ivy to die and then the roots will release easily, rather than tearing the fabric of the walls.
I was waiting patiently ❤❤for
Beautiful work very enjoyable video😊
You need to create a Narnia, like at Chateau de Lalande did. 😆
You really do need to get all of that ivy down with urgency. Killing the larger stems and roots could be a problem.
Good job! 😊
Charlene needs eye protection!
On another chateau renovation it was said this ivy destroys the building structure. They chose to replace with Boston Ivy which they say does NOT destroy the building.(Per internet that is true it does NOT ruin structure) It turns red with the season and creates beautiful color.
That’s another penny in the pot Lesa!!!!!
That’s not a feeding trough but rather a basin for washing clothes. The jutted out small protrusion is for using with borax to rub out clothing stains 😊. Charline is one hard worker. Well done
Very interesting, thank you for the info 👍😁
Re the stone path. Each time you boil the kettle, pour what you don’t need on the weeds. Boiling them kills them off. Might not be viable in winter re cracking large stone.
Is anyone else thinking that the ivy on the back lean-to is covering the doorway to the unreachable rooms?
Afraid not 😞 we pulled it off when we were trying to get in a couple of years ago, definitely no doorway 😔
Some chateau owners pick up those huge armoire’s and put in the attic. Then they put away all their fabrics/ seasonal goods etc. and can find things so easily when wanted🥰🇨🇦. Well, they do take them apart first😁😁
Please, please, please no more armoire attic suggestions, have you seen the hassle we have getting the damn things up onto the first floor let alone the floor above 😂😂🤣😭😟
With the amount of dust the place collects during the off season you could open a summer long buffet for 'Fat Fighters' and get Marjorie in for some classes!!!
You can replace the ivy once you kill off the root with a Virginia Creeper/Boston Ivy which doesn't destroy walls, the roof tiles are a different story and if trimmùed the problem is solved, and then in the fall you get that lovely array of red hues as the leaves fall for winter....
Her name isn't Charlene, it is Maria.....
She'd out pester any pest
Drive a hornet from its nest
She could throw a whirling dervish out of whirl
She is gentle! She is wild!
She's a riddle! She's a child!
She's a headache! She's an angel!
She's an Angel.
Protected eye wear
Hi Ted and Lisa always tuned my father died i moved for a smal town but i still alive
Are you going to grow some fruit trees.? That rock that was sticking out. That was there to help you mount.A horse.. 😮 Personally I think it's a good idea. I would leave it.
Oh, please, may I borrow Charlene? 😍I promise I'll return her. (Eventually. 😈) Seriously, she accomplished a ton of hard work💪💪 Meanwhile, I almost fell off my chair when I saw Ted calmly whittling what looked like his finger 6:24 😳 I'm watching on a laptop. Scale is everything.🤣🤣
I’m watching on my iPhone and I thought he was cleaning his nails! 😂😂🤷♀️🙄❤️
@@carolynewilliams1194 🤣🤣
🤣🤣
You need Boston ivy. It is safe for the stone.
We don’t want any Ivy 🤣
Great vlog. Charlene is a machine 😅
You got that right!
I didn't see him mentally remembering everything as he widdled at something, I saw Charlie Browns teacher say "MEH MAH WEHM MEH WAHT WA WAA" and he kept saying Yep, OK, alright, uh huh, can do!! 🤣😂
Sorry, I'm confused, doesn't take alot
I know what you mean. I’ve explained for you 🤣
BEST
The same steps on the right, were on the left. Explains the closed up door.
Could that rectangle part attached to bottom of wall (where Charlene tried to cut the huge branch of Ivy was), could it have been a horse drinking through and then they would go into the back door of kitchen/restaurant you did, up steps where Charlene is clearing? You found missing door and steps there.
That’s what we think. I’m going to get the soil out today if I get time
Ivy is such a curse in France, are you not allowed to poison it ?
bisous à lundi
Me to...hahaha ❤
Who pushes the tree over
Charlene needs a nice hat with a wide brim and/or the drape down the neck so she doesn't get all that debris on her head and down her neck!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I do seva at Haynes park, near Bedford , they literally planted ivy tp grow up the. Walls, i said no that is crazy, they said no, it preserves the building and keeps it warm, so i am befuddled
I have been watching sins the beginning but do not remember ever sering this side!
There are about 3 vlogs with this door open and outside that window and door taking the Ivy off last year.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Don’t know how big your scrub land but can you rent some goats to eat and mow down the scrub? We do that is the US.
Ted loves his tractor ❤️
🪨🪨
Blackberry poison will kill that ivy off and it will never come back.
What’s that? We’re not sure what it is
