I just love the amount of respect you are showing this beautiful old bread oven. You even switched down to a paintbrush to uncover the ancient egg. Just like a real archaeologist! And the pure joy on your face when you got it out safely…had me smiling along with you! Congratulations on work well done.
👍
Thanks 🙏🏻
Ted sending you healing and comfort! So sorry. Accidents happen be kind to yourself
The bread oven is looking beautiful Lesa - you clever girl. 💐
Good luck at the hospital Ted. 👍
We’re quite fond of your head too, Lesa. Ted’s not that bad either! Take care both of you, good people are hard to find.
How I’ve seen it done with a bread oven is that they fill it with sand and remove all the bricks and then re-brick it and then scoop out all the sand. Bread oven fixed
Best you both! Hang in there Ted!
Lesa, great job on the bread oven. Ted, take care of yourself. I know you want to be doing more, but you need to rest it and heal. I am fond of both of your heads!😂❤
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lesa the bread oven is looking amazing you are so talented and get well soon Ted lovely to see you can still have a laugh and joke😊
Hi Lesa and Ted, I have sent you by email a link to a video about building an oven in the traditional way. Hopefully Ted will be OK and the injured thumb will not affect too much his music playing. Take care. ❤❤
I think the walnut shells are from mice, we had hundreds under our old bath...lol
As usual, you did a terrific job, Lesa. Take care of yourself Ted.
It's always better to laugh than to cry .Your place is looking gorgeous. Ted take it easy on yourself .hugs from Kansas USA
Bread Oven is looking great Lesa. Take care Ted👍
It's been a long journey of watching you grow and grow in your skills, and learning to really appreciate you both. Your characters, your music, your love of history, your MANY talents. We love your dogs, your cooking skills, your love of the place and the people that are neighbors. You both could qualify for degrees in plumbing, carpentry, pointing, sewing, painting, window glazing. I'd need the rest of the subscribers to remember all the many things you both can do now that you didn't know how to do before. We all pray for you to heal completely and continue to love each other in front of us.
👍
Thanks Betty ❤️
Just love you two as you make everything so fun. Ted you are not a muppet, things just happen. The bread oven looks amazing like everything you do. That mummified rat looks creepy 😮
Another job well done Lesa! All the my best wishes for Ted!
A thought come to mind ,when we were kids we used to put our shoes in the oven to dry them, they were leather in those days not the crap that they are made of today
Looking forward to your next video, finish it off Lesa it will be lovely
Aww, you had me in tears when you expressed your gratitude Ted, you two are always so gracious no matter what, that’s why we adore you both so much ❤ The bread Oven looks amazing Lesa, I think it will look better than it did when it was first built, I also Love the metal brace you made, my goodness, you’re so talented & clever! Good luck with your check up, I will be thinking on you. Take care, with lots of love and big hugs. From Scotland 🤗🥰xx
A metal cover excellent, I thought Ted had wrapped it in gaffer tape. Good luck with your hospital visit.
Cheers Millysue
Lisa you are a wonder with Lyme mortar. I would like to say the love that you two have for each other comes through in your videos. Enjoying from Iowa, USA
Ted you are a gem your home is looking wonderful and the bread oven looks superb 😊
It looks like to me they probably built the fire in the center and put the bread on the ledges to bake. Fascinating story about the baker being a tax collector. Makes a lot of sense. Hugs from Texas! Love y’all!
Beautiful wisteria , everywhere looking brilliant these days. The bread oven is a challenge but your experience so far shows you are up to it, especially when you put two heads together. Good luck Ted, the French hospitals are brilliant, I think you will be looked after well.
Love the moody music
Lesa…..You sent me over the edge when you found……the rat!!!
Eeewwwwwww!!!!! 😩😩😝😝
The bottom of the bread oven looks great! Well done…..😉
Ted……seriously, my father-in-law is a retired carpenter. My husband said had gone to the ER a number of times over his career. From smashing his thumb to cutting fingers with a table saw, etc., he still worked for over 40 years. Glad it wasn’t worse and you’re recovering. 👍🏻😉
Hope all goes well for you at the hospital Ted. The bread oven looks great Lesa....I'd put a light in the oven methinks! Lots of love to you both x 💖
Absolutely, we already have the cable in place 👍😁
Wow the history and taxes ... unreal. Very interesting. lol lol Ted is so sweet and funny. He wants to protect his sweet wife. Would squirrels been living in the bread oven? Imagine finding this egg!!! Yes, WOW. I was hoping some viewers would contact you all on how to restore/rebuild the bread oven. Lesa you are a Master at doing this lovely stone work. You and Ted are not afraid to take on any task!!! So pretty! Glad you are doing so well Ted! lol love it! All the best.
Prayers ! For Healing ,enjoy watching people Like Thing s we had one in our 60 years of marriage!
I'm happy you are doing better. 😅much ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️
Just found this video and will watch more because it is a pleasure to watch such a wonderful couple taking such care of history 😊 welldone xx
Great job as usual. Ted, no worries, my husband is a jack of all trades and when he comes running in with his hand up in the air and says we need to go to the ER, I am always relieved when it is still attached! Wonderful video as usual, finding that egg intact is pretty cool. Thanks
Lesa, the bread oven is a treasure. You are doing a great job with it. Please take care Ted.❤
Thank you, I will
Next item for brocante shopping list: bread paddles to set the bread into the oven. :-) I wonder if the interior needs repointing after the rest is stabilized?
Great idea! Teddddd we’re going the brocante 🤣🤣
@@ChateauDeMontmagner Don't forget the Bread bowls!!
Is that why the word bread is slang for money?
That is a thought 🤔 great thinking 😁👍
Awesome job on the bread oven. Your pointing unbelievable. Best to the two of you. You're both rock stars.
Thanks so much!
Stephanie Jarvis from Chateau Diaries did an old stone bread oven renovation. Check that episode out. It may give you some pointers
The bread oven is getting better
The style of masonry on the bread oven reminds me if a documentary on the way domed roofs are still done today in a few places in Italy, as well as the remains of ovens found in excavations around the Mediterranean. You might some information to help you reinforce, if not repair, it.
God Bless Ted. You are in our prayers.
My brother lost a similar part of his thumb to a drill press many years ago. Heal well!
Loved watching you work on the bread oven. What a lovely feature to the room.
The bread oven looks really good and pointing as always down to LESA. Well done as always,👏Lesa is soo caring to buy you a special for your thumb Ted ❤👍xx
Is that a real egg? I found one in my old backyard that was made of white china or pottery of some kind. Someone told me that people put them in hen's nesting spots to encourage laying, and that place was old enough that earlier inhabitants would probably have had a hen house in the backyard. And that looks like it was a VERY big rat.
Thanks for sharing your lives. You two are such an inspiration.
You could have a light inside the oven as a lovely feature
Excited to see the bread 🍞 oven get finished. Take care both of you!
Bread oven is looking more stable looking forward to seeing next week. Ted I hate seeing you struggling, i wish i had a magic wand to take it all away for you.😢😢😢😢😢
Bread oven is getting the Lisa's magic worked on its 🎆🤗
Ted we need some magic worked on your thumb 🎆👍 🌹💐🌹
Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Wow, what an incredible restoration so far. It looks amazing.
If children stay at your place you might get some little kiddies being a bit mischievous and try to climb in to that bread oven.
Best of luck on the medical issue. The bread oven looks awsome.
Oven is looking great. Love the idea of putting a wood frame around the oven. Be careful Lisa.
Looks lovely. Once you’ve got a form in under the roof part you may feel more confident reaching in to build up the floor, then extra bracing to the form to reach further to repair the hole at the back. Slowly slowly and very carefully. All the best.
Glad you are feeling a little better good luck with the results from the hospital 👍 x
Bread oven is looking good ❤
Keeping both of you in my heart.
You both deserve a nice glass of wine god bless❤😊❤😊
Loving the bread oven, looking how it should look , good luck Ted 👍👍
Do NOT break that egg Lesa...it will pong something chronic! Glad Ted has got the support he needs. This is just a rocky patch..it will pass. Best of Luck.
thats a bit different from the man with the iron mask....its Ted with the iron thumb
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Always excited seeing the two of you sending love from Canada ❤❤
What a lovely vlog. So good to see both of you! You had a "dig" in the bread oven! Whoa, that egg! Mr. Rat had a great home! Sir, take care of yourself. Prayers for a speedy recovery! Look forward to seeing you next week! Ty.
I'd definitely put a light in the back of the bread oven as it looked amazing with the light in it.
I wouldn't be surprised if you found a dinosaur bone in that bread oven. It's an architectural dig in there. I didn't think you would be able to just leave it in that state, now there's plans for forms and fixing 😄
Wire the inside with a light. When the main light is turned on the light inside the bread oven goes on at the same time. Then have some fake bread in the oven as if the bread is baking. Think about that.
Cabling is already in place for that, great minds think alike 😁👍
@@ChateauDeMontmagner So glad to hear this. Good job my sister from another mother.
Amazing to find the egg. Great job in the rebuild so. I know you will make it just right. Hope Ted's thumb will be ok well done to you both 💪
I absolutely love you two and your property. I enjoy everything you’re doing. Always excited to see a new post. 😍😍😍
Amazing finds thanks for sharing . Still need the angels to help with the apartment 4 !
That is looking fantastic, yes finish it off! It will be beautiful
Another fabulous job done Lesa....awesome work as always!!
Thank you so much 🤗
You guys are amazing. Thanks for sharing
Heya Ted,
I'm seeing a lot of slide guitar playing in your near future. That metal thumb cover ROCKS!!!
Time team at the Château 😊😊
Ted I’m praying for you. You both are very loved . We hope you Recover well. You are not a Muppet. You just don’t feel well and have not fora few months . Lesa beautiful work as always . You two just light up the world around you.
The bread oven I saw used on a utube video has the woman lighting a wood fire inside and once it was good and hot she pushed the embers to the sides and swept the base with a bunch of feathers. Then placed her loaves inside . Blocking up the entrance with a removable wooden door
What a fascinating restoration project! Even the rat and especially the egg! That egg would look fabulous carefully cleaned and displayed in a little pewter egg cup, if you could find one!
You are amazing with stoneworking! Always fun to watch! Yes! You both "get a thumbs up... HALF a thumb...!!!" LOVE your humor! Do take care!
I'd send you a bucketload of "coffees" if I could!
Prayers for healing for that thumb from WallaWalla, Washington USA!
Beautiful couple xxxx
I've seen forms built of wood and Styrofoam to support curved pieces like that. Which would be a simple and inexpensive way to support it at least temporarily.
You do a straight wood back for the strength, the foam is cut to the rough shape of the arch or curve. And then fitted in with cross support.
Like I said that could be a good and cheap way to temporary support the structure, until you can do a more permanent restoration if that is what you are going to do.
I can point to an example on how they used that to build a stone arch in a house/barn restoration in italy. the "Raising Voyagers" channel "Building a Stone Arched Doorway" video.
Looking good.
We're quite fond of your head too Lesa! Fascinating project! Looks bloody brilliant!! Will you actually use it? What an awesome drawcard for your guests (like you have time to bake bread lol). Gorgeous music! 💪❤️🥳
Great vlog gorgeous oven ❤❤
Well done ya is love seeing micheal back xxxx
I'm impressed by the stabilization of the bread oven. I would have done as you did - repair the outside first, then work inward. You may even be able to repair the fallen back wall eventually. (I wonder if its disrepair is due to the tight space?) The style of building, using narrow bricks on edge, seems to me to be very old but I can't remember where I have seen it in a documentary. The history about enforced communal baking and taxation is very interesting; I know people were also forced to use the Lord's mill in some places.
Youve got this Lesa, you are the expert in mortar and the bread oven already looks anazing 😊
Youre both lovely, loving the bread oven
best wishes to you
The bread oven is looking good. Your wisteria is beautiful. Best wishes to you both!
Thanks so much! 😊
at what point do you realise you are not alone? minute 8:01 is when I first spotted your companion
OMG 😱 you are right, I just looked back and there he is sitting up on the side, you are so observant 👍😁
How very blooming interesting ❤
Hi guys, I saw that you guys pulled out an iron circle out of the oven. You could use that iron to create the part that he was talking about in front too act like a dormer so it won’t fall in on you, see if that works hope that helps. Keep up the good work.😊
Great idea!
Wow, well done on the intro awesome footage.
Hope Ted is on the mend.😊
🐨🐨🦘🦘🐨🐨
Good job! Ted will be OK and feel better when he's back home again.
Great work.stay happy.i enjoyed
Even to make the oven safe for guests to look at is enough I think maybe put a plant inside in a pot to pretty it up or a light feature. I also think it would be good to make as a heating source for the room if you had overhead racks for drying blankets or non dryer items. I have to say the most interesting laundry facilities I have ever seen :) usually a chore for me even on holiday this would be a treat to sit in the room and peruse all your hard work minus your storage of course. When will the storage freezers go in? I hope you will have a backup power source so you don't have any issues. Ecoflow is a great source of sponsor if you were to get one. Take Care Lesa and Ted and pups. Both of you are precious to us too be careful.
They could have a pamphlet box so guests could take one home. They could put sections, explaining each part of the château. Just a thought bc not everyone has tge Internet 😊😊❤❤
👍👍👍👍👍😄Get well soon Ted ! 👍👍👍
Thank you, I will
I love your amazing attitudes!❤
Absolutely love watching you two! I have watched you from the very beginning of your journey and firstly cannot believe where these 4yrs have gone, but secondly how far you have both come in that time. It all looks absolutely AMAZING!! My Daughter is flying off to Australia in a couple of months to teach for a year in the hopes of staying there forever, I’m obviously thrilled for her new adventure, but am also getting extremely depressed about her not being here, especially at Christmas. I keep having teary episodes out of the blue, so I’m so grateful for your vlogs because it takes me away from my sadness just for that short while. Keep up the great work both of you. Get well soon Ted. Hope everything goes ok at the hospital. Lesa, be careful working too hard, especially now the season has started. Is it selfish of me to say that I never want the renovations to end 😅 LOVE, LOVE, LOVE you guys ❤
😂 thumbs up!😂
New catch phrase ❤
🤣🤣🤣
Enjoyed from Texas!
So glad!
