You are more than welcome to come on up to New Hampshire. $10 and you have to fill out a page form, then your issuing authority (usually the town cop) has 14 days to either give you your CCW or a valid reason in writing why your have been denied. If he takes longer than 14 days you can sue him. Got to find yourself a nice republic to move to.
For sure! CA is really the pits when it comes to many things........particularly guns. The day will come in the not-to-distant future for a move back to PA. At the moment, we're responsible for the care of my mother-in-law and can't leave here until she passes. However, getting out of this state is a definite priority. Glad you liked the Colt.......it is very nice.
Though I said the gun would probably stay as it is........it hasn't quite happened that way. I changed out the rear sight with an all black 10-8 Performance U-notch sight. And, just last week, I replaced the magazine release with a Wilson Combat part and I installed a new silver solid trigger from the Kimber Custom Carry pistol. The Colt fans will probably think of this as heresy, but the changes have worked beautifully. So, as you can see......this pistol is a keeper!
There are a number of sources for 8 round magazines......Wilson Combat, Chip McCormick, even Kimber has them. I hope this helps. However I use 7 round mags.........Wilson Combat Model 47.
Well, thanks. I'm still learning how to make good videos and haven't quite got the lighting good enough. But I recently did a video on my newest holster and have figured a way to correct the lighting a bit. I'm going to make a video soon showing all three of my 1911's.......hopefully, you'll like it.
Although Pennsylvania is a nice state, it’s a shame that you have to consider leaving the wonderful, year-round climate of San Diego in order to legally exercise your right to defend yourself. California is a beautiful state that’s been virtually ruined by derelicts at all levels of state government. I’ve owned a few Colt Commanders in my day and every one has been a tack driver right out of the box. Years ago, I used to trade firearms a couple of times a year. I was loyal to the same dealer and I’d always notice how he’d roll his eyes at some of the handguns I’d be interested in ordering or purchasing. I did notice that the only handgun he’d have on his hip was a Colt 1911. One day, I wised up enough to ask him about it. His eyes got really big and he was impressed at my interest. He asked me what took me so long to warm up to the one pistol that would fit every need I’d ever have? I told him that I was either getting tired of throwing money away or perhaps I was just growing up. At any rate, he gave me the full rundown and I’ve been sold ever since. None of my Colts have ever failed me, and that’s more than I can say for some of the other gun purchases I’ve made over the years. Good luck on wherever you and the Mrs. decide to make your home. I bought a Combat Commander back in the 80's and ended up selling it as I couldn't hit anything with it....just wouldn't group. I had a Series 70 Government Model at the same time that was a tack driver so I was really disappointed with the Commander.
As a builder I can say , your gun was loose probably mil spec , my first commander was from 1976 , shoot a 6 in group at 25 ,, got to build your own ,, then should shoot sub 1 in at 50 yards with good loads out of a randsome rest ,,when I cut the bushing with a reemer, it’s so tight you can hardly slide it on the barrel, then you lap it in with borebright barrel polish !

I use 7-round magazines exclusively. I've been shooting 1911's for so long, I'm just used to counting to seven! :)
Great looking firearm. I have an older compact 1991a1, these are my favorite series of 1911 because of their basic no frills look. Enjoy it
