THANK YOU. Nowhere do they show you the programming sequence, I was misreading the instructions and holding the program button waiting for only the blue light to flash. Didn't realize you just have to let go of the programming button once it hits the blue light.
I'm curious to know, what year is your Tacoma? I ask because, as it turns out, installation on my 2023 Tacoma is completely different. It installs on the passenger side behind the passenger airbag. It's just as easy but I was confused at first because I ordered it after watching your video and then discovered that the instructions were different. Great video just the same but I thought it was worth mentioning.
@@davidsamano2067 To be honest, I have no idea. That's why I like this one. I can easily remove it because there was no cutting or splicing of wires. (on the push to start Tacoma) If I find out that it's a problem, I can just undo it.
The fact that my brand new truck turns off when I open the door infuriates me. I live in Oregon it rains six months out of the year. but I refuse to start my truck twice to drive it once. so now I have to start my truck the same way my dad did when he bought his brand new 1981 Toyota SR5 pick up.😂😂 way to go Toyota!!!!
@@EM-pq3vx I wish it was that easy but no it turns the truck off. The only time I use remote start now is if it is super freaking cold outside and I need to warm my truck up for 10 minutes.
Yeah, I just bought a 2023 Trd off-road and I’ll admit I would’ve had to really think about it if I would’ve known about this before hand. and the fact that I can’t change, it pisses me off I live in an area where there’s more coyotes than there is people my truck is not going to get stolen running in my driveway.😂
@@MuscleAmericanit's a security feature.. Because Toyota wants to be special every other push start fob controlled system if the vehicle doesn't 'see' the fob it won't go into drive. The Toyota isn't like that... You only need the fob to start it. Once started it'll go into drive and go... Wherever. I agree it's a bummer Toyota didn't design the system like practically any other vehicle. But... With that in mind. It is a valuable security feature for a pretty huge security flaw.
This video helped me tons! Thank you so much for the clear and simple instructions.
Glad it helped!
your Truck comes with Remote start alredy. push the lock twice and on the third click hold it for about 5 sec and it will start

Great vid actually helped me a lot I thought it was on the passenger lol

Thanks I am doing my 23 in a few days
Question
Will it affect the truck warranty?
@@davidsamano2067no it’s plug and play and doesn’t alter computer programming

My 19 camry stayed on when I. Opened door only shut off if I pressed brakes without putting key in. Installed at dealership
The shut off when you open the door is only a Toyota with the “push button start” not a key like you have

Yeah it’s really lame, I’d use it way more if it didn’t do that.
Have you tried using your key to press unlock before opening the door?

@@zai2.0 I know I was referring to the truck shutting off when you open the drivers door after you’ve used remote start
It's a deal breaker for me that the car shuts off when you open the door. Cool video though and great installation video.
Yeah it’s a Toyota thing. I hope they change that on future models!
When did Toyota start doing that
The factory remote start does the same thing
Ahh it’s a feature, I thought I installed it wrong.

did you have to decrypt the module after programming?
No
This is pretty cool and i was just about to order it but the fact it shuts off and i have to restart is a deal breaker
Yeah it’s lame. Do some more searching because I heard there was one in development that didn’t do that

Will it affect anything like Bluetooth or interference with something else?
No
Excuse me , we can install in 2024 Tacoma ?
This kit, no. I think the 2024’s will have remote start from the factory.
2024 Tacoma the models that have this option they do NOT shut off.

Remote start was only an option on the 2020+
