I love how Holden is holding Amos back. He wants Naomi to make her own experiences, without overprotecting her. Just as in Season 5. Great character!

Today I watched the last episode S6E6. After that I had to come back here to watch one more time this clip. The Expanse is a scifi series like any other, so beautiful images, the battle scenes, all drama, all emotional scenes and moments. I am already sad because it finished, but I hold a little bit of some hope to the producers come back again, some time in the future, to complete the last 3 books and close it properly.
Thank you The Expanse, one of the best scifi serie of all time, in my opinion.
Season 4 gets a bad rap (unfairly to my mind), but oh this scene! The fact that they let Naomi go first as she has never been on a planet before. Holden with his hands in his pockets, (in my head its so he can stop himself reaching for her when she stumbles), the sheer love in his eyes for her and also Alex looking up at his first sight of a blue sky.
Season 4 is amazing. I wish they had done more beyond the rings instead of spending all of season 5 in our solar system again, and then in season 6 only having one side plot on Laconia that gets cut off halfway by the season being shorter.
@@gamlaman Yeah, I agree. But they were staying true to the books, and the mind blowing stuff beyond the rings happens later in the books. The show was killed just as it was getting *really* interesting.
Cas Anvar fought for this series to continue. I love watching his piloting here. Oh gosh, we have one, maybe two new seasons. I would like five new seasons.
With all the promotion Amazon is throwing around right now, I guess we can really make it to the last book.
I think Amazon are going to stick it out to the end, their top guy loves this show.

I've watched this clip countless times in the run up to season 4 and keep picking out new details. Just now noticed at 4:30 Alex shivers before putting on his hat. I guess it's cold on Ilus!
Tbh this planet just gives me strong New Caprica vibes. Cold, uncomfortable yet the best bet for people who have no other planet.
BTS it really was cold when they filmed according Wes Chatham (Amos). He mentioned it on his podcast, Ty and That Guy

This moment, they, the music... Goosebumps!!
They really knocked it out of the park with the score around this part of the series. That foreboding build into the Roci landing, that slow key tap punctuating Naomi's awe, the swell of the orchestra welcoming her to a place that she could never really survive, just beautiful stuff.
It's still amazing to me that just the Roci's MANEUVERING THRUSTERS are more than powerful enough to land the ship.
And that the only reason they didn't use the Epstein drive is because it would have glassed and irradiated everything a few kilometers around it
It's a warship that has to be maneuverable. The RCS thrusters are probably more powerful than the main engine in terms of thrust, but much less efficient so useless for long burns.
@@15Redstones Nope, the Epstien drive is definitely the more powerful of the two drives. The thrusters are designed in a configuration called "flying tea kettle". It's less efficient because it only uses heat generated by the onboard reactor to heat water into steam and eject it for thrust. But the main drive relies on fusing materials outside the ship (about a kilometer away) and spraying water behind it to use as reaction mass.
The RCS system does produce a lot of thrust, but it comes from the momentum of dumping a ton of pressurized steam at once. But the Epstien drive produces significantly more thrust because the energy is coming directly from a continuous nuclear explosion behind the ship.
@@15Redstones That isn’t the case. The Epstein drive is far more powerful, being limited by how much the people on the ship can take but the manoeuvring thrusters are quite powerful
@@iliketrains0pwned thanks. I always assumed the thrusters were basically taking advantage of waste heat. The problem with these ships in the real universe would be dealing with that heat. Vacuum is the ultimate insulator.
@@auknix In the books that's one of the few things they tend to handwave out. They said it involved dumping the waste heat into the exhaust plume of the drive, but there's a lot of reasons why that wouldn't work

Season 4 is already finished. I hear they are working on seasons 5 now.
They have filmed season 5 in Toronto region since October 2019. Started filming last 2 episode of season 5 around February 1st. So now we can assume that the final days of filming are on the way. Naomi's actress tweeted about her part being wrapped yesterday 12 February. This means season 5 returns somewhere around October/November this year. (:
Had Alex ever been to Earth. No, then this was the first time he ever stepped onto a world with breathable air, just like Naomi.
It’s a bit more significant for Naomi because she’d never been on any planet before. Alex may not be able to breathe on Mars but he knows what a sky and clouds look like. Naomi is a belter so she had never experienced anything like this before. No sky, no horizon, just an empty abyss with twinkling stars and planets.
Aweee they're back! I love this show!
imagine being nagata being first time ever standing on a planet with an atmosphere .the elation you would feel.probably be similar to reaction of astronauta first time they see space.
One of the best scenes ever in The Expanse.
I just started watching this show. I am on Season One: Episode 1, 2, 3. About to binge 4, 5. I was hooked to my TV first 2 hours. Whoa!!! And got so many more episodes to catch up. Cannot believe I never even heard of this show once til about 2 weeks ago via a random clip of a Jamaican accent guy getting smashed to bits in a spaceship from a UA-cam recommended vid.
Keep watching. I'd pay a lot of money to be able to go back and experience the show fresh all the way back from episode 1

Didn't know about this series till about a week ago; got the first three seasons on Blu-ray DVD and went on a video binge and now a season 5? Good to know!!! Some of the best CGI I've ever seen.

If we’re lucky we actually might see the whole 9 novels be made into the tv show.
Even if they cut down novels 5&6 and 7&8 into one season each (which could be done imo) with the final book being the last season we would at least make it to 7 seasons.
I mean, I’d also take 9 seasons obviously but that’d be one hell of a commitment.

All the military craft in the books are black in the books for camouflage. Doesn't make for great T.V though.
The darkening of tone in the music when Amos is checking the weapons. Great foreshadowing.
Can we have a moment to appreciate just how AWESOME the railgun is on Roci?? Now time to avenge the Cant.
Over and over again we hope for a Scfi show that gets the science right and give us something complex...

They did a really good job of making this feel like an alien planet.

In truth, Alex should have been as discomfited as Naomi at walking out under an open sky. But I get it that this was her moment.
Beautifully done in any case. And it’s scenes like this, where the science and personal drama intersect, that at least as much as the overarching story make “The Expanse” worth watching.
I guess being Martian he'll have been out on the surface albeit in a suit. The horizon wont effect him as much.
Alex is an Inner, and a Male. He would have more trouble than an Earther but more advantage than a belter. Also being a Male he will have a natural bone density and muscle mass advatage. Although that far into the future you would think anyone out there will be geared up super humans.
Alex has seen a planetary horizon on Mars, and is military trained pilot, ready for high g. If you watch, he is breathing in deeply, enjoying the air as we know it, not recycled, manufactured canned air that he knows it as.
Then, he turns, and wants to look at the Roci. Probably the best look at his greatest love that he has ever gotten.
@@auknix Naomi falls because she's not used to the open sky. We know that muscle and bone density won't be a problem for Alex, this comment is saying that Alex wouldn't be used to an open sky either.
Love the theme song it really puts u in the deep space tv drama mood
Just now finished watching this season.. awesome Visual effect...., More exploration of various characters, bit more exploration of mysteries not completely evrythng is revealed.... But season 5 will be just awesome

There's one oddity in this scene at the start. The asteroid they shot was 101213.71 km away from them and it took 6 seconds to hit it. One would assume that 9987.36 M/S would be in metres/second but that would be approximately 36000 km/h which would mean that it would've taken almost 3 hours to hit. However in miles/second, that's 57863152.4km/hr or 16073.09789 km/s which would take around 6 ish seconds. They are using miles per second alongside the metric system for some reason.

I feel like we probably shouldn't be looking up to Bezos too much.
For every good thing he does, he does about ten callous or heartless things. Which doesn't mean we should pretend he doesn't do those good things, but neither should we pretend he's this shining example to look up to.
We deserve to relive a similar teaser.

In the book Naomi never landed on Ilus and she never will. She also said that she will never land on Earth :S

That’s why I feel like this scene was very powerful and I am glad they showed it because first it creates a plot for them (because of Murtry) and also it shows that how powerful can be a place for a belter where their is no dorm roof above them this scene was the most expressive in all of the show
In the book Naomi does come down the well. They land the Rossi, with her on it, on Ilus. She just doesn't leave the ship and the Rossi takes off again soon after landing with her and Alex aboard. Holden and Amos stay planet-side.
Both the sci-fi sow we want and the sci-fi show we have long deserved.

Drives me up a wall every time I see the dumb doubled floppy joysticks in this clip. The original flight controls made a lot more sense and I loved the in-universe explanation for the little finger control.

Dropping the show after s3 should have been punishable by law :D I bought the books recently and now I know I had no idea what's still coming at us with this show. It's gonna be superb and I really wanna see this show make it to the very end of the books.

In the books Elvi keeps trying to get people to pay more attention to the contamination they cause.
Didn't really notice until this scene just how small the Roci is. Suppose it makes sense, given the ship wasn't meant to be a home. Still, in the books, I think it was supposed to be able to hold 20 people with living spaces.

Alex and naomi didn't land on the planet but stayed on the ship/landing module because they can't take the gravity if I recall correctly
its a change because they want have a subplot with Naomi dealing with gravity sickness
It doesn't make sense. If belters occupied it, there is no reason why Naomi shouldn't.
@@banuprakashCA indeed some of the changes for the show was done to resolve plot issues.
@@banuprakashCA in the book it explains that the belters are on meds and had to undergo physical changes, and have had time to cope with it by the time the Rocinonte and her crew get there. Naomi, in the book at least, is very anti planet and its the main reason she hasn't met Holden's family on earth. If I recall correctly at one point, Holden says if she takes the meds then she could go see his family on earth and she says she's never going to earth. Which so far in the book series is true. Its probabably to cut down graphic costs. In the book she takes over another space ship and gets held hostage which would take a lot of graphics. and they wind up saving everyone on the belter ship that is being stuck in orbit by the corporate ship. Its really all about face time for the actors/acresses and saving money for the good graphics.

I've read the books too, but I don't "Spoil" it for others. Know what I mean? Potential cancellation of this series may result in "Real" fans of the Expanse having to do a letter-writing campaign to keep this show on the air. I'm all for that too! Stay safe out there!

This trailer is very apt for the season as a whole. The pace was slow and honestly... not much happened. At least compared to the awesome gong show that is season three haha.
BUT.... it still rocked. And Amos totally stole the show this season.
It was equivalent of S01, and if we get S07 then it would be feel the same. Thats how the story being told in the book, kind of shifting gear in the fork of road. The deep breath before the storm.

Valid question. I think it's an equilibrium problem of weight distribution rather than the pressure of gforces.
think of it like how whales can live in the water fine but if they beach they slowly die, short high-g is fine prolonged g's are the problem

New Terra has an entirely different ecosphere to Earth. Contamination in both ways could represent a hazard to humans and native life.
Those squatters who claimed the world before the Earth's company arrived, didn't care and didn't have the means to ensure isolation. Interaction between both ecospheres happened.
Elon Mask would be proud if he will see this scene where Rocinante lands like his own rockets)

What I fail to understand is that Naomi, a belter, can't survive Earth 1g but can survive Ilus IV gravity which is just a bit higher otherwise it's a great show
It's explained better in the book. More-so about the other Belters living on Ilus. But they all had to take medication to increase bone density and muscle mass and do extra strengthening exercises over the 70-odd day travel time to Ilus, so they could survive planet-side.
Is this show realy good. i tried to watch the first episode but couldnt stand the dialog or the characters... Maybe they get better later on?
Yes they will, first and second season are great, while third is much worse IMHO.
@@sergeyignatev1443 The last half of season 3 was good. They adapted it the best they could having the risk of cancellation and don't wanting to leave a cliffhanger.

It's a different beast. Think of a mix between Firefly and Stargate. The intrigue between different entities (Earth, Mars and The Asteroid Belt) is where it's at.

I'm a huge Firefly fan (I own a replica brown coat, my license plate says BRWNCOT, and it's plastered with Firefly/Serenity stickers,) but even I have to admit this might be a stronger show, all told, than even Firefly was. Definitely give it a chance.

LOve the show, but hate the color scheme. All the blue and grey sepia tones are a detriment.
This doesn't feel like the Expanse.... I will hold judgement til the season comes out but it looks like Amazon has changed quite a bit to the feel of the show.

Love the show, but this is a really boring trailer for what is to come.
Boring to those with with no vision perhaps. For the rest of us this trailer fills us with wonder and awe because of the implications of what if means for our characters and for humanity. It is magnificant. On its own i would probably agree with you because it would lack context but having watched season 1 to 3 it is a masterful scene to show the scope and theme of the fourth season.
