Good stuff Jabo, I seviced the same vehicle. It was overheating while stop and go driving. Pin point the issue to autozone coolant temperature sensor, replaced it with an oem and problem solved, easy pay day.
I found a rediculous overheating problem. The bottom of my overflow bottle was dirty and blocked hose to overflow bottle. Cleaned it out. Saved a fortune. Didn't even have to replace old bottle.
I've had this vehicle for over 10 years and realized I'm better off connecting fans direct. I made a switch on the section next to cigarette lighter. These cars are notorious after stop and go driving to creep up in temp.
Thanks Jabo , I was wondering about my water pump functioning properly , it seems to be, when the fans finally kicked on the air was hot. still haven't figured out why its dumping the coolant in the overflow , i drive a 100 mile a day & am adding about 1/2 pint in it a day, runs fine otherwise, no oil in coolant...no coolant in oil 345K miles & I've had it since near new & have always taken care of it . i get little trickles of air bubbles in full coolant tank. I super flushed the entire coolant system ,radiator, heater & engine block all separately , ran 150 miles with thermostat removed & radiator flush fluid in system, flushed again & put all back together & refilled with proper coolant & purged...still the same.
What other things did you check did you check the radiator cap that could cause it to purge out did you check compression in each cylinder to make sure that the compressions not low you might have a blown head gasket or you could have a bad water pump from improper flow that would cost it to build-up pressure over heat and overflow into the over flow tank
Thanks man you really explained everything I wanted to know because all this youtubers that I want to know the explanation I couldn't find until your video pop-up thumbs 👍🏼 👍🏼👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼
I have a '05 civic with 186,000kms. (Live in Canada) I've only had it for 4 months now and had MANY overheating issues since! I've replaced rad, hoses, thermostat (OEM), sensor on thermostat housing, and bled the system many times. It didn't over heat for about a month after all that was replaced, but then it overheated AGAIN last week. I saw my fans weren't kicking on so I checked and found a bad fuse. Replaced it which fixed the fan problem, but when it overheats it pukes coolant everywhere from the overflow tank.... Now I'm having the popular problem where it sometimes blows hot air when I'm driving (sometimes just cool air), and cool air when I'm stopped/idling... I don't want to load the parts cannon anymore but I'm aiming toward waterpump (I'm told after 180,000kms it should be done) but I don't know. I'm just tired of thinking I've fixed it and then BAM I'm back to square one. PLEASE give me an idea of where to go with this...either rad cap, water pump or head gasket?? PS. Would not puting the OEM coolant in, be an issue? I'm asking cuz I was told these cars only run properly with OEM stuff..?
did you ever figure it out? having just about the same problem with my car have the heat on thinking it'll help the overheating a lil but it'll blow cold and not work
I think the radiator cap can definitely be an issue as my coolant was simply disappearing and gauge would go way up but never actually overheated, so I changed mine twice, and the second one I noticed had a real firm seal as I screwed it on and topped up the coolant with the 5050. I got the more expensive $10 cap instead of the cheaper one at ORileys.
@@nmot97 Seemed like it did, but now its getting warmer out and gauge already went higher as I was sitting at a drive through the other day. I bought a new Honda thermostat on line that Ill have put on next. Actually last summer it got so hot it went into limp mode, which I didn't know civic had that, (but it was driving it hard though) and it barely ran until I got home. But it recovered next day and been fine since, after I checked oil and r. fluid. Somehow if I forget to llook for a week or 3, the fluid will disappear, both times in Arizona and Nevada, where its super hot in summer like 90 - 100 all day long. Oh, yeah, mechanic said to put on temp sensor too with thermostat, which I already replaced once in Arizona 2 yrs ago..
@@goham7201 it probably is.. a heated head gasket that causes pressure in the engine, resulting in bubbles in the water, resulting in not enough cooling for the engine. one of my mechanic friends recommends changing the head gasket(but trimming the head to a speciallist). OR find a "medicine" for it at the spare part shops. I hope it helped!
Hey suggestions I have a 2004 Honda Civic VP and it overheated a while ago… Juffy lube tell me I need a new radiator… I was driving it today it started spraying coolant other windshield any ideas on how to fix this issue It’s also been leaking from the radiator onto the grill and smoking.
I love how you mention everything but one of the most common actual issues with this car that could cause overheating. A blown head gasket. If your civic is overheating (especially after running it at highway speeds), and you keep on having coolant getting pushed out of your reservoir, its very likely you have a blown headgasket causing exhaust gases to enter your cooling system and push out the coolant with enough pressure (for me its about 15 minutes of highway driving and then if I stop at a light off the highway I will overheat because I have no more coolant in the car).
Bro it definitely helped me out 🙏 got a 2014 civic with 130k starting to overheating only on idle (in a drive through for ex) and ive been told about those water pump problems. Gonna run through the text u did right away
@iKzuq it was the thermostat! Got one for like 20$ and replaced it along with all the coolant and flushed the air pockets out the system and its been perfect simce👌
Hey Jabo. I have a 2002 Civic. Replaced head gasket, timing belt, water pump, radiator and thermostat. Put new cap for rad too. Coolant pushes back into res tank? Fans also working. Help!!!
Is over heating a probable cause of a blown head gasket? Also I rode around with my hood off while overheating & it splashed coolant all over my windshield, thought I blew a coolant line but it all seems in tack.... I would genuinely appreciate any advice thank you!
A blown head gasket can be causing your vehicle to over heat, best way to know if you've got a blown head gasket is by checking your engine oil. If your engine oil does not look clean and it looks milky, then you've got your engine oil mixing with the coolant. The cylinder head gasket would need to be replaced and the cylinder head should be pressure tested and worked on by a machine shop.
Helps a lot I have a Honda Civic EX coupe and my engine is over heating. I had same issue yesterday and I added coolant and I was fine but same issue occurred again with the over heating. I’m currently on the side of a high way and I’d have to say it’s a all together heating problem . My ac doesn’t work , and one of my fans doesn’t work
Lmao man I’m on my way to work we’ll not anymore my daily overheating and I got some tools my gang needs to do a job , here on the side of the highway with u brother
@@bovarrrrr8688 I got mines fixed but I still have the issue.... gotta make sure all seals on right everything is tightly screwed on. I simply needed a new radiator cap and a new hose. On the computer you use on cars to read codes told me I had a heating issue and in a coupe the fans do two diff things
What year is your civic? Bc on a 03 (like mine) the cooling radiator fan is in the passenger side, the fan on the drivers side is the a/c fan which wouldn’t be coming on with the other one bc it’s for the a/c.
Mine overheated 04 civic found radiator fan came off motor replaced and also did a new collant fan switch and bled cooling system seems fine now in 105 degree weather today thank god
You saved my engine on my 04 Honda Civic coolant components doing there job now thanx to changing the ECT sensor so easy a middle age single mother can do it 🙂🤗
Yo Jabo, I’m having overheating issues , when idle, I don’t over heat when I drive . I replaced the thermostat, radiator cap and bleed out air. Don’t think it’s the coolant temp sensor or allowing the fans to kick on fast enough ? I have a 2009 Honda civic ex 1.8l
Alot of crooked mechanic specials out there, blown head gaskets are temporary fixed with a head gasket sealer that'll last a year or 2 then fails. Mine found that out after one my coolant rubber hose has all this silica coolant crystals all around the hoses when one hose failed i saw that.
I'm trying to diagnose the issue on an 03 Civic. Car was losing power while driving no matter how hard I gassed it. Both brake & gas pedals felt stuck. Needles would all go down near zero. While parking, I couldn't even reverse the car as engine was not responding to the gas pedal. It worked after letting car sit to cool down. But within minutes of driving, started to lose power & overheat. (Needle doesn't point to H) Made it home just in time as I was seeing white smoke coming up the passenger side of the engine. -Fans blow fine. -AC & heater blows fine. -Did not see any coolant leakages. -Car battery is new. -No electrical issues though. Car starts up strong everytime & gears shift without a problem. First thing I will do is replace the air filter. It was dirty. I assume there's a clog somewhere & hopefully no additional issues. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks for the vid too it was a great general diagnostics for overheating issues.
I own a 2003 Honda Accord 2.4 litre it was a cold morning i let my car warm up for 22 minutes and the gauge went to hot and i smelled and saw very little smoke what do you think it is ? I've already put a brand new thermostat and thermostat housing.
I have a question I replace my radiator just put a new thermostat and The bottom hose is hot and the lower hose is cold I was thinking maybe it has air in a cooling system so I was going to flush it out and also I have the temperature sensor check engine light on I replaced it before and is back on again so I was going to replace it again to see if that helps the overheating
What if both fans don't work when the car is on, and only 1 fan comes on when turning on the AC? Does that mean a radiator cooling fan switch is needed?
Man I had this car as my first car Gosh how I miss it lol replace the engine not even month of having it some dumbass ran a red light and salvaged my coupe 🙃
Will not burping it cause overheating? If you don't have a reservoir cap will that cause overheating? How can I check for vacuum leaks? I fixed all the codes and the check engine light is still on what could cause that? Sorry for all the questions I can't pass smog. Thank you so much you are appreciated.👍
Hey Jabo we just had the head gasket, water pump and timing belt done about a month ago on my son's car and now it's pumping water out the resevior. Before taking it back to the mechanic that did the work we changed the thermostat, radiator cap and radiator. So having that issue. His fans do engage so they're good. Is it possible that he's gasket messed up that soon or the water pump?
D16V1 cooling problem is known! The point is that the expansion tank should be filled to the maximum level when the engine is warm, and the radiator should be filled to the maximum level as well. If there is still air in the system, the car should be parked on a sloping driveway with the front facing upwards. With a warm engine, idle the car and turn the heat to maximum and set the internal air circulation to on. Remove the radiator cap and wait until all the air comes out through the radiator. When no more air is visible coming out of the radiator, the engine speed can be increased to 1500-2000 rpm. This further circulates the water and more air will come out of the system at this point. As air comes out of the system, the radiator should be continuously refilled. After this process, there should be no more problems. Every mechanic told me that my car had a blown head gasket, this was 6 years ago, and there has been no problem to this day! I hope I was able to help...
Hi! After that procedure, did you set the reservoir tank between the min-max level? Or how did you mean max. level, fill it up completely or just up to the maximum indication on the reservoir? I also have a problem that looks like a head gasket failure, however, there is no coolant in the oil and no oil in the coolant, also no exhaust gas in the coolant. Only a symptom, which is, the coolant level always goes up in the reservoir (until it fills it up completely eventually) and gets lower in the radiator. But does not disappear from the system, only moves from here to there, if I fill it back to the radiator, it looks good again. Perhaps this is only an issue of an improper coolant change, air bubbles can be in the system? Happens after I was at a mechanic who turned out doesn't really do Hondas, or japanese cars at all.
I have an 04 Honda Civic EX and it’s fine everytime I drive it but as soon as I have it parked but on for atleast 5 mins it overheats bad and leaks the coolant a lot and I already replaced the thermostat, coolant and some other things , I’m not sure what it could be ?
Hi there. I like the way u explain everything and yes it make sense to me. I've done what u said I must do by putting on the car and put on the ac but none of my fans go on. Is it bec the fan sensor needs to be replace bec I'm having a huge over heating issue. But what I found out is that my car do go over the half mark by the heat gadge when I put on the heater on in the car. Thanks and plz if u can maybe help me with this.
Question... My ‘03 Honda Civic had an overheating problem but that’s no longer an issue. Now what the car does is while driving I’ll press on the gas pedal but the car is barely/not moving so all you hear is the engine. But once you turn it off for a while it’ll drive again till you come to a complete stop then it’s nothing but engine roars and no speed again. What could this be?!
Probably transmission. Could be low on fluid.when you shut it off the fluid runs back in the pan , then when you drive it starts sucking air.check your transmission fluid. It may be too late.
My mom's 01 Honda Civic is overheating after I changed the thermostat gasket , and I changed the lower radiator hose... Only on long trips or when I push it on the highway. I also changed the radiator fan and coolant temperature sensor. For some reason it makes thr coolant in the reservoir over fill...
Hi I have 2003 Honda Civic showing over heating, when I was driving not showing overheat. But stopped in the traffic signal overheating needle increase high. Do u know what is the issue plz tell me what’s the issue how to resolve it. Thanks
Fans work, change coolant switch, changed relays and fuse, changed water pump along with timing belt ,radiator cap, thermostat, test pressure on coolant system no leaks car runs perfect…. Noticed coolant coming out of the reservoir and still over heats
Just got my radiator replaced and my fans work and the h and center always goes up and down and normal constantly and fast and I hooked my car sensor too and no codes come up and I'm not sire what it is and my heater outta no where went out.
Hey Jabo, I’m trying to diagnose an overheating issue on my 2003 civic. Temp gauge has been going up. When the motor is warm the fans don’t kick on. Though they do turn on when I turn the A/C on. I’ve replaced the t-stat, temp coolant sensor and fan relay. I’m thinking on replacing the fan switch next..any ideas?
Whats if its not the fan and I jus replaces the bottom radiator hose dont really know much about cars but I really need to fix my car asap I have done a couple other things to try and fix it but it still over heats
I have a 05 civic can’t figure it out please some advice lol my car overheating only blows hot air while driving it gets cold when I stop at a light... seems like radiator gets dry and overflow fills up but doesn’t return to radiator.. have changed radiator, thermostat, checked all hoses can’t figure it out..
I’m a try a flush tomorrow just too see if it helps but I honestly think it’s the water pump too ... is there any way to rule out head gaskets ? Btw thanks for the advice
It has done that a few times lately but hasn’t overheated I drive it to n from work lk 20 min each trip ..I think it’s the water pump .. I did a test spark plug by spark plug witch I changed as well just cause I was removing them .. and cranked it w one spark plug in at a time to see if radiator would bubble or shoot water out but nothing happened..also tried taking all the air out w a spill proof funnel but car wouldn’t stop giving air bubbles had it on for about 40-60 min
My car was doing this for a while, but only just recently has it been overheating even while driving. I can smell the coolant burning and when I open the hood I can see there's some mild leakage with steam, but never anything under the car after it's been sitting. Car has no AC (didn't come with it), but the heat/defrost has been working fine. Not looking to pour a ton of time and money into the car if I don't have to (I'll just sell it), though if it's an easier/cheaper fix, I'll probably do it.
I have one ques my car's radiator fan not working but when turn on ac fan works. when ac is not on coolant comes out of the radiator. I can see steam too.
Same issue, fan only came on once in 1 hour and after no more, which lead it to over heat. Now after replacing thermo, fan switch, radiator cap, I'm assuming it may be relay. Also to add recently started to leak coolant...... I think I'm gonna remove thermostat and connect a fan switch directly that way i have a full control of this issue
Sad like I have friends that are mechanics and have looked at my stuff and can’t even help me it’s a Honda it’s a lego car it’s simple ima have to learn myself
Good video bro 👍🏻 my car seems to have the same problem car has no leak I replace water pump a radiator cap n still over heats I can drive the car for a long distance on the freeway an as soon I get out n come to a complete stop or a red light it will start to over heat
Did u ever figure this out what your problem was? Cause i currently have the same problem i have been trying to diagnose it. Replaced thermostat. Radiator cap. And now gunna have to do water pump. My CAT might be bad tho too
Me too fine on the highway way soon as I get on the exit it goes up there was an accident on the highway and I had to stop I got so scared cause I knew it was gonna rise it did but as I say there the fans came on the longer I sat the cooler it got but when I started moving again it went straight back up got to a red light it went down acceleration over 30 mins makes it overheat
I'm having the same issue and my guess would be its the cooling fan (not a/c, 2 different functions to them) but mines not turning on only when I turn the a/c which is awfully weird.
IT WRKED changed ect sensor now when I get off the highway the temp started to rise but it never got to red and when I pressed the gas it started to go down as opposed to going up so thank you JM
If I am driving my car the air is cold, but when i make a stop at the red light is when i feel warm air, the fans are good and the radiator cap is new, so i don't know what to do with my honda civic 2004 air conditioning.
I think it did help me I have some of those symptoms but antifreeze is getting pushed back to the reservoir system is being over pressurized I’m not sure if water pump not spinning could calls that
2003 Honda Replaced headgasket water plump thermostat timing bell spark plugs coils. All of the belts.. When temperatures starts to rise AC starts to get a little warm.
My civic isn’t overheating (the radiator cooling fan is coming on as normal) but the coolant overflow bottle is always full but when I check the coolant level in the radiator it more low then other times, is this normal? Is the overflow bottle and the radiator both always supposed to be full? (My mechanic says it’s not a head gasket problem)
Hey brother I have the same problem already change the water pump head gasket thermostat I change also the radiator twice the heater sensor and I still have the same problem I don't know what else to do from can you help me
@@germanconfesor1346 I have not messed with the car whatsoever for a few months now since it needs to be tuned and won’t stay runnning. I’m going to look into the water pump it was replaced new but I will double check as I have Dyno tuning scheduled coming this Saturday
I just got a 2002 civic ex and I am having a problem , they changed the thermostat and now the radiator but the needle goes up a little above half and then goes back to normal
Hey, 2005 Honda Civic overheating. Yesterday car Temperature gauge will go to high then settle to the middle then slowly climb back up to high then middle again. What could this be?
Mine does this too. A few years ago it did that, the honda mechanic had no idea. Ended up replacing a thermostat. After that it worked fine for a few years til now. Its doing same thing again. Guess I gotta take it in again. Did you ever figure out what was wrong with your civic?
Hello, my Honda only heats up once I stop at a red light. Once I step on the gas and go, the needle starts to come back down. Also after leaving the engine on and running in parked, after about 20 mins, it starts to heat up but not as fast as when I am driving. I took it to a shop and they told me that the bigger fan is not a original part it is a universal fan n therefore the big fan is not performing what it is suppose to and it’s causing the smaller fan to over work n may possibly be y the car overheats. Is this correct? Because the big fan works, but yes it is not the original part.
Yeah my 2005 civic only overheats during the summer, the car begins to overheat during idle. Coolant seems to be leaking out of somewhere or maybe it sprayed out of the reservoir.
If its leaking all over engine and filter area it's the reservoir cap. Be careful because they tend to break off and will automatically heat car since theres no pressure
My car over heats when my heater is on and if i turn my ac on the needle on temp gauge goes down also my car is manual when im in fifth gear and i put in neutral and put it back on first down a road the gauge climbs and overheats and i get a smell of hot antifreeze in my car when its over heating any help???? 05 civic coupe 1.7
okay I have an 04, water pump has been changed thermostat aswell and bottom hose. the top and bottom hose get hot but my radiator cap is always cold and I'm able to open it no problem even after a long drive
my car issue is its always my thermostat that needs replacing every year or 2 years lols...but i dunno i feel like the coolant always gets low when i fill it up to the Full part the next few days it get low lol.
Hi my civic 2001 leaks coolant when rafiayer fan z on auto and stall frequently esp in hot weather but win fan z direct it does not leak wayer .wat can b theceasons .help me
Well it’s not the temp of the coolant is the problem. The problem lies when you try to open the coolant pipes while it’s hot will legit burn ur face off. Don’t do that
thanks for video. i have 2006 year vtec and for two.years there were not problem. suddenly one motnh ago alwyas water go secodanry tank and in 50.km lost about half liter water. so i put every day one.glass water to both tank. every one says motor has cracking or sealing has leakage. seem i have big trouble. on tomorrow technician will.check and we will.see what happen. fan thernoatat water pump all work good and.just on time. only air buuble carry thw water to secodnary tank.
My 2004 Honda Civic started overheating. I changed the coolant temperature sensor, fan switch sensor, new thermostat, new radiator, and new radiator cap. I don't know what the problem is now. Clearly not the head gasket because I took out the spark plugs and pressure tested while the spark plugs were off and no sign of pressure drop. Any suggestions?
I believe you did a compression test if you removed your spark plug. doesn’t really tell you if your head gasket is bad, usually tests your the Piston rings and valve seal. If you want to test your head gasket you would have to pressure test it on the radiator cap. A good indicator to see if your head gasket is bad is if it overheats on long drives, and coolant spills over reservoir. On these Hondas
@@Nellyyyyyyyy You can also use an exhaust gas tester to see if the exhaust is leaking into your cooling system. That is how I diagnosed a blown head gasket in my 2000 Civic.
@abdul fitt replaced the fans and the issue was gone for about 4 weeks. Then the top radiator hose collapsed. So that tells me there is a vaccum issue. And a pressure issue. I replaced the radiator cap. And so far the issue seems to be gone. I think I will have to do another coolant flush soon and also change the water pump.
Not a mechanic but i can see cracked hose leak... what i dont know is the correct name/part # for small hose at backside of motor connected to metal waterpipe right beside where heater core hose is connected to same water pipe...its a shorter hose which connects to a small black like connection type box that has another longer small hose that runs back to metal water pipe closer to the thermostat
I have a Honda Civic lx with mileage 100289 my car gets overheated after like 10 mins of drive & every time I put coolant it’s Disappear & it doesn’t have any leakages .you think I might have a bad thermostat or something ? I change the radiator cap like 3 times .
The coolant may be going into your oil .sounds like a head gasket.pull your dipstick and if it is milky or brown you probably have a head gasket problem. Chachang$$$$.
My car overheats and coolant starts squirting out all over my hood and windshield after driving it for a bit. Especially after I go uphill. Just had the water pump, radiator cap and thermostat replaced. I found a slight crack in the radiator and that's where the coolant is squirting from. Went today and purchased a new radiator but here's the weird part....prior to seeing the crack in the radiator my hose that goes to the overflow kept popping off and antifreeze was squirting from it and my radiator cap is stays cold even after long trips. Everyone I talk to about the radiator cap says they've never heard of that before. Do you know what the issue may be with my car in general? Thanks
One more thing I forgot to add was issues first started happening a few months ago when I was using my air conditioner. Tons of steam started shooting out from under my hood. Guy at garage changed the water pump and timing belt. Got the car back and one one I used my defroster and I had the same issue, car overheated and steam started shooting out, radiator cap cold to touch. 😕
@@JaboTheMechanic I replaced the cap. I also just had the radiator and air conditioner compressor changed. It was driving beautifully today then BAM all of a sudden steam starts coming from under my hood. This time it was coming from near the area of my heater core hose. I looked and I could see a puddle of antifreeze near it. Do you know what it might possibly be? I did find one skinny hose with wires on the end that looks like some kind of sensor and it was all corroded. I wish I was able to show you a pic in the comments so maybe you could pin point me in the right direction. I don't know much of anything when it comes to car mechanics 😕
Omigod dude you explained to the T what is going on with our car right now. We have replaced the fucking radiator cap like 1800 times and it keeps happening. It will be okay for like a day after we replace the cap but then it’s spraying out from the cap. I don’t know what to do with this damned thing! Did you ever figure out what is going on with yours?
@@ghostgirl7064 I had a similar problem when I had to drive from NY to CO. It ended up being the head gasket was cracked. I believe it happened because the water pump failed.
I just bought an 03 civic. I noticed the temp gauge will go up to H and right back down to normal and kinda bounce around a little. Had it 2 days doing that. This morning was chilly so I had the heater on and was working fine. All of a sudden the heater stopped, temp went up, and check engine started flashing. It over heated and cut off and I pushed it to nearest gas station. I know both my fans work. Has a new radiator supposedly. Any idea on what it can be?
Thank you sir, but I have 2 questions: - How would I know if a car is overheating if the thermostat sensor is out and is giving me a false reading? - If the lower hose is cold and the upper one is hot that means the thermostat sensor is out right?
Hey man. So my civic recently started over heating at first I noticed the heat wasn’t working until I started driving around 40 mph. I changed the radiator and it stopped over heating for like 2 days. (Heat only worked while driving). It hit the the top when I was in a drive through so I had to pull over and checked. And the fans stopped working. Now I’m starting to think it’s either the thermostat, fans, water pump. Any advice or anything?
For me, my problem was the coolant temperature sensor... Took replacing the thermostat, water pump and fan switch to figure it out... Hopefully this helps
I would have ruled out the CTS before replacing the water pump on a D17. I feel your pain though, I replaced my head gasket at 120,000, as well as the ENTIRE COOLING SYSTEM (every hose, radiator, thermostat,etc.). Now , 50,000 miles later, the Honda thermostat failed ,looked at the temp gauge while on the highway and it was up near the red, I have no idea how long it was there, could have been like 10 miles ! Got it cooled down immediately, and now I’m having head gasket symptoms again after replacing the thermostat and ruling out the other fun stuff, uhh 😬. Have to Tear it down again, and get the head back to the machine shop !
Hello, can you explain me why compressing the hose with my hand and listening a noise on the reservoir means that the cap is bad? I'm trying to find out why my radiator hoses are hard when the car runs like 20km, I can't compress them, I'm trying to figure out small things before HG
Good stuff Jabo, I seviced the same vehicle. It was overheating while stop and go driving. Pin point the issue to autozone coolant temperature sensor, replaced it with an oem and problem solved, easy pay day.
Yeah tell me about it. Thanks man!
My heat only blows hot air while the car is moving
And it over heats while sitting idle it is a 03 civic. What is a good solution for this. I think I have the last issue you mentioned in the video
Yeah I
So autozone coolant sensors are not good?

What other things did you check did you check the radiator cap that could cause it to purge out did you check compression in each cylinder to make sure that the compressions not low you might have a blown head gasket or you could have a bad water pump from improper flow that would cost it to build-up pressure over heat and overflow into the over flow tank

Its sounds like your water pump is bad. No mixing coolant shouldn't overheat car unless it has a chemical reaction and turns to paste

@@zoeyzoey4369 Well?! We're waiting!
did you ever figure it out? having just about the same problem with my car have the heat on thinking it'll help the overheating a lil but it'll blow cold and not work
I think the radiator cap can definitely be an issue as my coolant was simply disappearing and gauge would go way up but never actually overheated, so I changed mine twice, and the second one I noticed had a real firm seal as I screwed it on and topped up the coolant with the 5050. I got the more expensive $10 cap instead of the cheaper one at ORileys.
Did it solved the problem?

@@michaelg6641 so it’s a blown head gasket ain’t it?
@@goham7201 it probably is.. a heated head gasket that causes pressure in the engine, resulting in bubbles in the water, resulting in not enough cooling for the engine. one of my mechanic friends recommends changing the head gasket(but trimming the head to a speciallist). It’s also been leaking from the radiator onto the grill and smoking.
Thank you😊😊
I love how you mention everything but one of the most common actual issues with this car that could cause overheating.
I'm having this problem too

not to mention his gen civic was plagued with blown headgaskets
Also if!... You dont have a blown head gasket such as this video!.. This video is the one for heater!!... Issues.. Heater.. Not head gasket..

I have been dealing with it for months and don’t know what to do

(Needle doesn't point to H)
Made it home just in time as I was seeing white smoke coming up the passenger side of the engine.
So the problem with the car in this video was the water pump? And did the water pump make any noise if that’s what the problem was?
I have a question I replace my radiator just put a new thermostat and The bottom hose is hot and the lower hose is cold I was thinking maybe it has air in a cooling system so I was going to flush it out and also I have the temperature sensor check engine light on I replaced it before and is back on again so I was going to replace it again to see if that helps the overheating
Did you ever figure out the problem? I have the same issue right now

Radiator?

What was it?
My mom's 01 Honda Civic is overheating after I changed the thermostat gasket , and I changed the lower radiator hose... Only on long trips or when I push it on the highway. It could be a faulty water pump
I’m a try a flush tomorrow just too see if it helps but I honestly think it’s the water pump too ... is there any way to rule out head gaskets ? Btw thanks for the advice
If it's the head gasket you could have a quick rough idle during cold start up. And it would immediately overheat during driving or idling

If the cap is bad. It will not hold pressure and cause the car to spit out the coolant
@@JaboTheMechanic I replaced the cap. I also just had the radiator and air conditioner compressor changed. It was driving beautifully today then BAM all of a sudden steam starts coming from under my hood. This time it was coming from near the area of my heater core hose.
You could have a faulty thermostat
@@JaboTheMechanic it's a blown head gasket at minimum. water is shooting out the 2 middle cylinders when i go to crank.
Mines was doing the same , I changed the radiator and I guess the thermostat but the needle goes up and then back down
Sir i changed thermostat, fan, radiator, and it is still heating.it heat on highway only not in streets.
How's your radiator cap. Also your water pump could be bad
@@JaboTheMechanic i went to mechanic today he also told me it is water pump.
Yeah
Thank you sir, but I have 2 questions:
- How would I know if a car is overheating if the thermostat sensor is out and is giving me a false reading?
- If the lower hose is cold and the upper one is hot that means the thermostat sensor is out right?
2nd statement is true
Mine gets hot when I’m at and idle in park after a little while but when I turn the A/C all the way up it seems to fix the issue
Could be your temp sensor or water pump, or Thermostat.
Sounds like either your fan switch is bad or the fans could also be the relays for the fans
My cars doing the same exact thing right now. Did you find the fix for yours?
Carlos Panzardi let me know hen they answer jaja lol
@@carlospanzardi1835 mine too
Usually at 181° the thermo opens,
204° fans turn on
For me, my problem was the coolant temperature sensor... Took replacing the thermostat, water pump and fan switch to figure it out... Hopefully this helps
I would have ruled out the CTS before replacing the water pump on a D17. I feel your pain though, I replaced my head gasket at
120,000, as well as the ENTIRE COOLING SYSTEM (every hose, radiator, thermostat,etc.).
I had the same issue last year, in which I replaced the sensor and now it's the same issue again! I might go OEM instead.
Im on my 6th radiator in three years 2005 honda civic help
Hello, can you explain me why compressing the hose with my hand and listening a noise on the reservoir means that the cap is bad?
I'm trying to find out why my radiator hoses are hard when the car runs like 20km, I can't compress them, I'm trying to figure out small things before HG
