Hi. Enjoying these. I have just bought my first boat and it is on C Pontoon at Woolverstone. Hope to bump into you sometime. Keep the videos coming. 👍👍
I enjoy hanging around Pin Mill as much as anything!.. I am at Shotly at the moment but I will be sailing out of Pin Mill next season.. My last boat was a 44ft Smack called Our Boys... Now?.. A Hurley 22r!.. lol
@@stevenwatsham5973 excellent. I love Pin Mill and particularly the Butt and Oyster! Both fab boats I am sure and the views and being out on the water is what it’s all about! I will keep an eye out 👀😁 each time we pass! 👍
We gave up on our log a few years ago, we just use SOG on the plotter / phones. We can roughly work out STW by looking at the chart but only bother if there’s a lot of tide and we have a deadline to meet, rest of the time we ignore it and enjoy the sailing I loved your video - it reminded me of some of the early Keep Turning Left ones - quietly drifting along in no hurry - perfect 👍
@@sailingbluedawn thank you 🙏 Yes I think you may have a point there, I’ll give it another few cleans and see. It’s not essential like you said as I have the iPad etc, it’s more annoying as I like things working 🤣. That’s a lovely thing to say although it’ll be along time before I have Dylan’s confidence ☝️😬🤣 Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏
Great video, Did my comp crew a few weeks ago out of Levington and yacht master route ahead, please keep posting your adventures out of the east Coast👍
@@nigellee3687 Great stuff Nigel. It’s a great place to learn to sail. Well done on the CC course. I found them all a great foundation. I will do. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment 👍🙏
Nice to see you back on the water, we remove the speed log after every sail etc and stick the blank in, bit of a faf I know but it seems to be the only way. Cheers Irvine and Jane (Alana)
@@irvinewright8543 thank you both. Ah yes I feared that may be the case. It used to be ok for 6 months or so but now seems to be clogging after every use! I think it may be the only way. Hope you are both well 👍🙏
Hey great film, i know the feeling when wind sea state is all in your favour .. a short trip across the thames estuary would be a great experience for you ✊🏾
@11:31 I notice you have your headsail control sheet going back to a block then going forward to the winch. Have you tried just going directly to the winch? On my little boat the winch is in a similar place, and I have a block aft of the winch but I have never used it, up to now I have just taken the sheet directly to the winch. It tends to bind up. The boat is on the hard now so I can't check what it would do if I use the block.
@@earthstick I haven’t to be honest. It’s how it was set up and had been since new so didn’t want to mess around. (My experience level doesn’t tend to stray to far 🤣) I have used just a block to winch with the spinnaker which works ok but like you said can ride. 👍
The issue with binding is what the block is designed to eliminate. If the angle going onto the winch drum is too much it cause binding and overwrapping.
We don’t get proper sailing until wind is 14-16 knots because Wave Dancer is so heavy. How’s your darling wee one? Guess not so wee & getting into mischief 😂
@@WavedancerWesterlyfulmar indeed she is thank you. She’s growing fast and changing and has a complete obsession with every line and sheet that is in the danger zone 🤣 I’m cooking all her meals so her standards are high and she’s learning the good stuff early 👍 Wow I bet, one of the perks of a smaller boat I guess although when the wind picks up I wish I had a tanker 🤣🤷♂️
Another great sail, i have caught up to date now. I look forward to seeing more from you. Thanks for all the great videos.
@@SailingInScotland thank you so much for your support! I need to get out in the freezing weather now 🤣

@@WavedancerWesterlyfulmar absolutely can’t beat it 👍🙏
Best thing for your log being on a river with high growth is to remove it after sailing and installing it before you go out.
@@SailingInScotland fair point. I just hate the clean up and opening the hole in the bottom of the boat. I’ll have to live with it for now 👍
