Well done, and such a professional job. I know this took a tremendous effort, and it shows. A PBS quality show. I live in the Hudson Valley, and wanted to let your viewers know, Bannermans castle is open through a conservatory and folks can go there on tours, a real treat with so much to learn about…so much loved seeing this trip and one I would love to take…thank you for doing this for us all to enjoy.
I'm from Boston and I'm very familiar with the ocean. I remember the first time I saw lake Michigan it just looked the ocean. This is the trip of a lifetime
Looks like a fun trip. We left out of Albany NY almost three years ago (last week of November) with 5 onboard our 38ft boat. Sailing thousands of miles and visiting multiple countries we still believe the Hudson is one of the prettiest rivers we ever sailed. Nice video
The Great lakes are beautiful, enormous and contain over 20% of the world's fresh water, every gallon of which the city of Chicago is bent on selling to any municipality that will pay for it.
I thought that you going from Chicago to New York in a Sundancer 280 was amazing, but that's just one incredible thing about this journey! The video was fantastic, the drone work amazing. A lot of work went into this. Thank you. The trip and the scenery were beautiful. I've often wanted to go up the Hudson, I live in Connecticut, right near Plum Gut. You've inspired me! I enjoyed seeing the Jolly Roger hoisted, it's a pirates life for me!
We purchased our boat in Portland CT. We made our maiden voyage with a 2x4 as a bow spirit, zip lock baggies over our portlights and nothing but a functional sounder. Our first trip took us across LI sound, east river then up to Albany. You should get out and follow your dreams. So many beautiful sites to see in the Northeast.
Wow, I don't know if any of the other comments point this out... but the time you put into getting the amazing drone shots and editing the video with narration, it's just a quality piece. You did an absolutely great job. We live by the Detroit River, where it meets Lake Erie. One day, we'd like to explore the Erie Canal, or even the Trent-Servern. Thanks for showing it can be done in the 280!
This was an absolutely wonderful adventure, video and narration. A very interesting view of North American waterways. I am from Canada so it was great to see The Great Lakes. Thanks for sharing such an informative story.
Tim - What an amazing job you did. Love the commentary and drone shots, a lot of effort - very professional! We boat out of Rocky River, OH on Lake Erie and have done much of your trip many times. Hope you post more journeys in the coming years. Good luck in NY! Jack
Thanks for showing us your adventure. My uncle and I did the same trip, but from the other direction, starting in New Jersey and finishing in Kenosha. Unfortunately, we were delivering a clients boat, so we had a tight timeline, and it was early May, so the weather was rotten most of the trip. Thanks again for showing all the good stuff that I missed!
I live near the Erie Canal and have done several short hops. I have a 23 footer and was going to stretch my exploration each time. But the annoying thing with my boat is that at no wake speeds, the boat yaws back and forth...a lot. To stop the yaw action I have to go faster but that creates a large wake, even at 10mph. To really minimize the wake I have to go 30mph and the canal boys don't like that! haha So, from here on out, I'll do short hops from Lockport to Gasport, NY. The yawing is just too annoying. Thanks for the video.
Enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing. Have boated on the South End of Lake Michigan for years. Now you have me thinking its time to head up and around, thanks again.
Extremely well produced video. Thank you for posting. I am so envious of your trip. I kept my boat in Saugatuck for many years and wanted to make the circle trip through the Trent Severin, down to the Hudson and then back via the Erie Canal. We never made that trip but we did make to Ilse Royal and also into northern Michigan and Lake Huron several times. We live on the West Coast and I am boat less and so have to live vicariously through your great videos.
Hi Tim great video of the Great Lakes and beyond. I have watched all of the videos of Capt. Tom of Adventure ours go from New York to Cape Coral his new home and exploring all of Florida. thanks to you and Capt. Tom I have been able to see things that I would never be able to see thanks stay safe alk in michigan
This is really one of the best adventure I've watched on UA-cam. The river cruise is really amazing with sightseeing. If you're still in New York and planning to go on the same route please hit me up..This is what I like, adventure.
Cool video what a trip. I solo'd my first boat this spring (42' Carver) from Grosse Pointe to South Haven it was quite the adventure and learning experience. Enjoy the east coast.
Great vid!! Grew up in NW IN. Been on Lake Michigan many times...brought back some great memories. We used to go boating almost every weekend when I was a kid. Thanks!!
This was so cool and beautiful. Thank you. It does make me wish we could revive some of the manufacturing towns in our country. It’s a shame to see them in such bad shape.
I always wanted to do this, but come back up the Mississippi river and back over. Too cool, i wondered what a boat ride from Gary to NYC would be like. Thanks for posting
Great video Tim! Thanks for sharing. I grew up in Long Point, Ont. Canada on Lake Erie and being a boater and a Cubs fan I've always wanted to go to Chicago by boat to see a game at Wrigley Field. Still hope to one day. ✌
Great video. As a boater on Long Island I have always wanted to do the great loop, and to see you do a portion of the great loop in reverse….amazing. Very funny how you went from Liberty island up the east river and traveled the Long Island sound all in a few seconds. I’m sure you didn’t want to make a very long video but I would have kept watching! You did great!
I'm sorry. That last day was a bit of a blur and was done as quickly as I could. I had to get home so I could go back to work. There will be more videos next spring and summer showing that area. Thanks for watching!
