Hi! I will coment later..it is 3rd video i saw today from you.. I agree with your views, and, in this times we live in, i think we must do the best we can, for a better world.. ..At the moment, i've been busy, trying to fight information war, the best i can, bringing awareness, and conecting creators, to make union and numbers, a mighty strengh..! While i was listening your words and your personal info..(Belgium and 27 yrs old), by the way, take it as a compliment, because i was not intending to comment, thinking you were under 20's yrs old.. very nice reaction, the only thing i am not sure about is if you got rammsteins usual play with words in this one. "Der schwarze Mann" normaly doesnt refer to a black man but to a mystical evil, you could translate it with Boogie-Man but i am not too sure if its quite the same thing. also he plays quite a lot with american things in this video like weapons and cheerleaders. AND yes, the things they were eating had a political uncorrect name here in germany too "n-word kisses" now we call them "foam-dish" or after a brandname that makes them "dickmann" which is quite a german habbit to call things after the brand that invented it or was most popular.

As a former music teacher and lover of art I follow many music channels. You are one of few reactors who nailed the chocolate kiss eating in the end. Sharp eyes. Great done. Growing up here in the US we went from trusting strangers, not locking doors to turning people into authorities if they are driving around the hood. I do remember adults talking about Nuclear war as a child and being very scared of that. All in all my childhood was care free I was able to stay out till dark go pretty much where I wanted and not have to check in with my parents. Now people put tracking devices on their kids and everything. I think growing up in the 70s and the 80s was the best time.

I also grew up then and looking back it wasn't very safe at all. We were just "free range" kids turned out in the world with little guidance or protection. Serial killers everywhere, drugs, predators, loads of kids I knew met an early death... I dunno, I guess I don't think there ever have been a "good old days" but maybe that's my bias.

The original name for what they were eating in the credits was "Negerkuss", which was then banned in Germany, leading to most people using "Mohrenkopf", which still was complained about by oversensitive people. Nowadays these things have half a dozen different names, like Schaumkuss, Schokokopf, Schaumkopf, Schokoladenkuss, Dubler Köpfe, Köpfli and many more, leading to enough confusion so that most people either use the brand names, or they actually just go back to the old name despite some getting offended by it, which is kinda funny to me.

Here in Brazil we had some stories like that, it was something like "the bag man", he would come for misbehaved children, throw them into a bag and take them away.
But I guess they're really talking about the world now, how many people gets paranoid about immigrants and alike. They had a crysis about that in Germany recently, so it's a interesing topic for Rammstein to work with I guess.

A very important detail in the epilogue: you see the band members watching the black woman and her son/brother sitting in the fenced-off area while she's looking at her phone. The camera zooms out of the scene - and you see that the woman actually watches THEM as well on her smartphone. Everybody's monitoring everybody, until Till smashes their TV, thus breaking the vicious cycle, the black and white world crumbles, and the colors return.

this song has so many messages. but for the end I would say: a lot of the fear we face is given and transported by the media. By destroying the TV he says stop listening to that crap and the fear will go away and the color and brightness will come back into your live.
and by the way: yes, here in Germany we have renamed them as well

another german name for the item they were eating at the end was Mohrenkopf, or moor's head. think of the moor of venice. black chocolate over a white cream filling on a waffle. just about as appropriate as "dagmar bumpers" on a 58 cadillac.

    Just some remarks:
The several times mentioned "Schwarze Mann" ("black man") is known as a child fright figure in the German-speaking area ("Wer hat Angst vorm Schwarzen Mann" = Who does fear the black man). Depending on the region and time, it was understood to mean different beings: a dark shadowy figure or a man dressed in black. As a metaphor, the "bogeyman" reached a "peak" as personalization of evil, savagery, and the unknown in the course of colonization, and in the process also acquired a racist connotation. In this context, I find the consumption of those sweets (German so-called "negro kisses") at the end during the end credits very interesting, which work through this "black man" symbolism.
Also the colors usage is interesting (Black/White/Red representing the Nazi-color Spectrum). I also found it interesting at the end of the credits that when the TV was destroyed, the color came back into the picture.
Further, I noticed that the pie-like plots seen from above correspond to the "political symbol" at the lectern where the singer, wearing a straitjacket, gives his speech. After these borders & plots collapse during the wild shoot-out, the politician, unleashed by the straitjacket to spread his propaganda/fear.
Cheering on the cheerleaders is the equivalent of pitching an idea/product and the dancers are slammed with money to sell the bricks and guns to the landowners.
This Clip has many layers and can be interpreted in many directions. I see there is a statement on xenophobia and populism/media.

I don't know if someone said it in the comments before, but "schwarzer Mann" doesn't mean "black man" in that context, it is a wrong translation. Yes, "schwarzer Mann literally means "black man" in german, but it also means boogey man... And boogey man is what the song is about....Greetings from Berlin

When I was young thats what they are eating was called "Mohrenköpfe"...in the Eighties it was renamed "Neger Küsse"...and because now it is politcal incorrect they`re called "Schoko Küsse".... I liked it when I was a kid in the 60th - because they were cheap like 10 Cents...and today I like it much more....

There were so many people resisting the change of the name saying "Well then the country of Nigeria should change it's name as well" ..I'm just sittning there and running out of popcorn :P

Both are with the lead singer of Rammstein and you wont regret to have listened to them. Keep up the good work!

Every person got its own interpretation of Songs from Rammstein. As a German my Interpretation is: this song is about Gouvernement taking control over Media and the Media tells you what you should hear.
Yes the sweets at the end was called “Negerkuss” or “Mohrenkuss” But only 1% of the Germans would couple it with rassism. It’s most the media produced by the government.
I give you an example. :
Following guy is owner of a Restaurant
    ua-cam.com/video/bYP-zuQnT4E/v-deo.htmlsi=n2i3PLNQz6nuboGf
This guy is happy and the only rassism he felt was by a black skinned guy he said. I could tell you so much more about it.

I feel like this song is very reflective of what has been happening in the west for a number of years now. The creeping rise of fascism...
Also, while this song is aimed at the west in general, I feel like a lot of the imagery is deliberately meant to evoke the United States.

Whao, I think you nailed it perfectly. You even saw the sweets they ate at the end (NEGERKÜSSE or MOHRENKÖPFE in German). Excellent interpretation. Perhaps you should have added for the non-German speakers that SCHWARZER MANN = BOGEYMAN and has no racial meaning in this song.

React to the official Rammstein video "Radio" please. It's great music and a very entertaining funny video, filmed ingeniously in retro style. It is good to have subtitles or read lyrics (a feminist allegory of communist Germany, where the only "window" to the free world was radio. Radio waves could not be beaten with police batons or arrested)

I consider the media critique more interesting if you think of the cheerleaders as media/industry personalities, Till in the straitjacket the populist and somewhat crazy right-wing politician (Trump, Johnson, ...) and the red cables just the media. And the circles = the societies that are already there and that are facing the borders, watching each other and putting fears and desires into these images.
The relevant story, after all, becomes the interactions of the cheerleaders (media/industry personalities) in each scene, what they specifically do, when they cheer, when they show themselves with which face and what the consequences for society are.
And how long the demagogue is under control (straitjacket) and when he comes to power.
I found the media criticism storyline almost a little heavy-handed, but I don't think I got all the narrative strands right the first time I watched it either.
