    Excellent video. I like the metal bracket method. Also. It's good to know that regular filler can hold up on those plastics. I imagine the flex stuff is alot more expensive

    Nice video Jerry. Like seeing different ways. I used black plastic tie wraps and a soldering iron to fix cracks from the rear before mounting it. Next time I will do the finish work on the car and paint it like you did after it is installed. Have a good weekend! Randy

    It may sound crazy but I have fixed cracked motorcycle plastic body panels and even a cracked chainsaw airbox by carving a vnotch into it, sanding the area to rough it up, heat it up with a heatgun so its warm, clean it with brake cleaner, and dripped a flaming zip tie into the crevice, dabbing it at times like im laying a welding bead and that shit works like a champion!

    Ooh ,I got so lucky with 2 license plate holes in my plastic front bumper.
    They used self tappers, and I was able to pick and fish it all out of the hole,it's probably 95% unnoticeable.
    People , Velcro holds plates on, no need for holes, I've been using it 20+yrs for front plates.

    Interesting, that filler caught my eye! Never have I seen or heard of it. Is it possible you could share with me how I maybe purchase a can? Seems like it gets hard and sicks and doesn't ball up when sanding. NICE!

      www.ebay.com/itm/313973951816 It sands pretty much like regular filler and feathers into the plastic w/o an issue.

      Right now I only use this - ua-cam.com/video/blE9tKKPI20/v-deo.html I'm testing it for a company and it works really well so far. This is how I usually separate the water for painting though - ua-cam.com/video/CSGAgAyeInA/v-deo.html Obviously, you'd need something a lot more advanced with a large compressor and various people working off of it - like in a dealership or large body shop :) These methods will work fine for 1 person though 👍

    comes in a double syringe like the epoxy. super strong and easy to work with.

    Luv the way you showed two methods of repair! Question I know you get this all the time; what brand and model spray gun would you recommend for a diy beginner
    Looking for something to spray sealer,primer,and paint.
    I want mind to much getting a “kit” few guns but budget wise keep cost under 400$
    Keep up the great vids

      You can lose with this gun - cheap and it works fine. www.harborfreight.com/air-tools-compressors/air-spray-guns/20-oz-hvlp-gravity-feed-air-spray-gun-62300.html If you are looking for a conventional gun which is great to learn on - this one works well and is not that much $ - www.amazon.com/Astro-4008-Spray-Handle-Nozzle/dp/B000MQ9BU2 I like Campbell Hausfeld guns from say Home Depot too cheap but good quality - www.amazon.com/General-Purpose-Campbell-Hausfeld-DH580000AV/dp/B0049FNOWS/ref=asc_df_B0049FNOWS/?tag=hyprod-

      This bumper is actually European - it's for the Opel version of this SUV - the whole new assembly was really inexpensive on ebay - that's why it's got the place for the European plate.

    Hi what grid you use to sand bumper dent repair for spot where there is a small dimple. If I use 80 grit like we do for panel and feather edge with 180 will primer seal the sand scratches

    • @LakesideAutobody
      @LakesideAutobody  16 годин тому

      80 will work and then feather edge with 120-180. Plastic bumpers do tend to shred but don't worry about it, it will feather out or you can prime and block sand it.

    Any specific reason you apply the epoxy primer before urethane primer surfacer?

    • @LakesideAutobody
      @LakesideAutobody  2 роки тому +1

      Epoxy primer sticks to plastic better than the urethane primer surfacer. You can get DTM direct to metal Urethane Primer and skip the epoxy but with plastic it's good to use the epoxy or even a primer made specifically for plastic bumpers like this stuff but it's a bit expensive. There's a lot of ways that work. Just find one you like and stick with it :)

    Hi Jerry,I have a small hole in my bumper I’ve got the filler ,what’s the best primer to use on the filler before painting.thanks.

    • @LakesideAutobody
      @LakesideAutobody  Рік тому

      They do make primer especially for urethane bumpers (SEM Flexible Primer Surfacer Quart Can 39134) but you really can use any automotive grade primer such as lacquer primer surfacer, urethane primer surfacer, etc. You can use epoxy primer too but it doesn't sand very easily or build thickness for block sanding your body work.
