Grinder blade may break and cause fatal damage to people standing near. if it struck between that bumper. Using a grinder for Grinding or cutting a plastic or carbon fiber material the friction will melt the material and tries to grab the grinder blade as a result the blade will split in parts and cause fatal injury.
You need to use the type of mesh tape with adhesive on one side to enable it to stick to the surface so that it doesn't move all around as the epoxy is being applied. Optimally you can use fiberglass cloth. Otherwise you can use spray glue on the tape. Then you can apply the epoxy with a stiff, disposable brush instead of a stick to work it into the contours. You also must mix the Bondo/hardener with wiping strokes and not by whipping or stirring because that introduces air bubbles into the Bondo mix. But overall an excellent job.
That is some incredible craftsmanship. I didn't know bumper repairs could look that good. Most body shops I know would tell you to scrap the bumper if it had that big a hole in it but you guys did an amazing job
Its because they wont make any money repairing it with the time it takes so its easier for them to charge for a new one and replace it and charge the same or close too as repairing it
Scrap because the labor alone would be twice the price of the replacement $300 would become $1200 for labor. They have been working this for at least 4 days between 3 men
Wow, just wow. I am thoroughly impressed with the final result. I was a little skeptical when you just started drilling holes in the bumper and applying the epoxy, but after seeing the final result, I am convinced. I have almost everything that you used in the video so I can start to do this myself.
I was very skeptical that this was going to be even remotely as good as it turned out. I'm not a body guy but I've been in the Auto industry for several years and have seen a variety of repairs. Many repairs similar to this look like garbage. But this was a very well done job. The only downside is the amount of labor involved just to save a few dollars on a bumper cover but I can understand why someone would do this. In the end you know you did a great job and save the customer a little bit of money. Great work guys!
I was really sceptical, by the time you broke out with the drill and zipties. But your finished product lives up to this video's title. Impressive work.
What an easy tutorial to follow. You Guys, ARG, are very talented in what you teach but even more talented in how you explain. Kudos to The Auto Repair guys who are also the Auto Explain guys.
Love watching a pro do their thing. Great video for the lay person. Extremely thorough and detailed instructions as well as tips and tricks that will certainly give me the confidence to tackle my second bumper repair. The first one was before UA-cam and turned out being a mess and a complete failure. Not to mention that I bought so much more of everything than I needed. I ultimately just took a hacksaw to the damn thing so that it wasn’t dragging on the road and called it a day. Thank you for taking the time to share this!
Amazing. This method has added advantage the bumper fits all the attachment points. My previous car accident repair, the auto body shop bought new bumper. But the shape was not a perfect fit, and it kept popping off from some of the attachment points when you touch it even just slightly.
letsthinkitover1 it took my 3 years to find a car similar to mine for parts at local scrap yards, and it ended up being a sedan when I have a coupe. Not everyone can get parts from scrap yards...
When I lived in South America I saw so many things like this repaired and I was amazed. Here in the US the auto body repair shop will automatically tell you it requires new .
I wonder how long it took him. The body shop labor cost might offset the new bumper cost, plus they want to get it done fast to get to the next job. But could be like many businesses, it's not about saving money for the customer.
Hi Guys, I am just blown away. I can not believe you just fix that like new. You are a Genius. Words can not describe on how great it looks. Awesome job, I just Subscribed - because, I want to see what other tricks you got to show. LOL..... Thank you my friend. Thank you, Jim (Upstate NY)

it's so rare to see things get repaired these days. Well done!
Because it's usually more cost effective to replace the part. This was mostly done for fun or insurance job
When repairing cost surpass the replacing price peoples won't repair anymore instead they will replace with new ones.
