Exactly the information I needed! About to pick up my 2006 4.2 sc and are after all terrain tyres exactly for the reasons you mentioned. Happy to know they are not much louder. What does the mpg impact look like? Really enjoy your channel, keep up the good work!
Hey Sam, did you have any issues at all with the 275/55R20? Any rubbing /catching? Time for new tyres on my L322 S/C and I like the AT look and practicality but worried they will catch (mine rubs on something already on full right lock - not looked yet, but I'm assuming it's a loose inner arch liner) I know the L405s have more of a positive offset moving the tyre outboard a little.
@@petrolthreads_ Hi, The rear right arch liner has a bulge in it to clear the fuel filler neck - this will need to be trimmed, or allowed to "self clearance" over time (this is what I did). The only other rub I get is a very slight one when going full lock in reverse, but again it's very minor. The L405 wheels on mine have more offset which helps a little.
Back in the 90s I owned a back street Land Rover garage, repairing mainly 4x4s. Anyway I also did green laneing I had a 110 with off road biased tyres and another guy came along in his 90 with brand new Pirelli scorpions for a laugh before changing the tyres. We including him believed that he would be stuck every 2 minutes and struggle throughout the day. Oh was we in for a shock he never got stuck or have serious traction problems we couldn’t believe it and he wasn’t the greatest driver also.
Good work Sam. I’m running a 2007 RR 3.6 TdV8 and am loving it also. Your posts are a real big inspiration and confidence booster for the choices and direction that I want to take with my RR. Keep up the good work, I’ll certainly keep watching.
Used to run General Grabber AT3 on my supercharger L322. Awesome tyres! No issue hauling the car and a loaded bike trailer from the bottom of a field. Will try some Coopers next winter when I find some decent 21's for summer. Love the content and the car! Will be getting a 4.4 TDV8 next 😁
Love the series. Bought my L322 with 22s but changed back to original 20s to get the ride quality back. Noticed the improvement straight away. Got the Pirelli scorpions but going to upgrade tyres after watching your video. Keep up the good work. It’s only by watching other owners that we can all benefit.
Thanks! 22s are always a bad idea on the L322. I was a bit dubious going up from 19 to 20, but I didn't notice any difference in comfort. Glad I could help!
Thanks to yourself and a few other UA-camrs for all the l322 4.4tdv8 content over the years - it’s great referencing and seeing what’s possible with these vehicles-and give a real world view of ownership. I picked up my 2012 Westminster yesterday after 6 years of jeep Jk ownership - happy with my choice , let the adventures continue 👍🏼many thanks 🙏🏼
Really loving these videos, we're been on a similar LR journey. I grew up with them, had several defenders, then a D4 and now a D2. seriously considering a range now seeing this, I miss my D4 to be honest. I do like my D2 as I can do so much more to it myself as I feel confident with the td5, but maybe I should allow myself the range!
I am really enjoying your videos. I am planning on getting an L322 and your are providing great practical insight into what I will be letting myself in for. Please keep making these as they are a great source of information.
My Vogue SE 2012 was supplied with 20" ... and told that it was supplied new with 20" optional. The Db meter ... its best to have it mounted and in same position without any movement ... that 1 Db can be due to sound propagation in the cabin ...
Really like your Vogue. Your channel is very refreshing. So tired of people using the same tired descriptions of Land Rovers/Range Rovers being totally unreliable. I would guess the majority of these people have never and will never be in a position to afford a LR or RR. Great to watch your channel giving with I believe honest evaluations of your Vogue. I love them and as I have commented before the only SUV to own.
Disco3 owner here, & they're a lovely place to be when they're working but you have to be ready to spend a bit to keep them that way. Nothing on them is simple, or cheap. I keep hearing about if you keep up to the service schedule they'll not give you any trouble, but we do that & they still manage to surprise us at least once a year. That said I guess you can't expect much better from a 200k mile vehicle (didn't have that much when we got it, but they're meant to be used aren't they.....?). 😁
I find your content inspirational, interesting and informative. I would soo like to own a L322 Range Rover and after watching your videos I am gaining more confidence in taking that step. I currently drive a 2004 Landrover Discovery TD5. I wish I could find such comprehensive content like you provide for the rangie on you tube for the D2.. Keep up the good work...thanks..
Great to see the channel is getting traction, YT have recommended it to me and I’m glad they did, ace content, time for some binge watching to get up to speed
A very good channel! I want a L322 for the weekends! I've a black X5 as a Daily driver and when it's possible I will go from Sweden to Germany where you can find well handen examples. The videos expires me to fulfil a dream.Doc
Great channel mate. Always had old landies and ranges in the family. So much more interesting than people in latest supercars. Made me laugh when saw police car > "I'm just gunna turn down this backroad" haha. As a 30 year old I would fully expect to be getting stopped in a car as nice looking as that.
Thanks mate! I definitely agree, "supercars" couldn't be any less interesting for me personally. My dad always ran cheap cars despite being decently well off. He called it "bangernomics", and I guess it rubbed off on me!
Great car, great tyre choice. So glad you’ve explained the significance of good tyres and what a difference they can make. In another note, have you considered getting the car chipped to get better performance and/or economy?
Sam, great to see the L322 getting the love it deserves. Probably my all time favourite range rover. I'll have to wait until around 2040 though to buy one. Irish road tax on these in €2350 until they are classics!!!!!
Great video and great choice on tires! Iv had cooper tires on previous trucks and never had issues with the tires, they drive softer, and yes a nice smooth and quieter ride too. Iv had my L322 for almost a year. I def will be switching to the same ones you got when it’s time!
Interesting. I have fitted Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac to my L405. There is definitely a ‘thrum’ but it’s not louder. I stuck to 255 55 20, I think a lot of the hate AT tyres get is because people can’t help but go up a few sizes. Great video.
The best thing about this video, for me, is seeing how much you were enjoying driving the vehicle on new tires. I landed on your channel from your P38 content but continue to check out videos on your other projects as well. It’s great to hear the channel is gaining momentum. 👍 I have a question… Going up 2” on tire size…. Have you noticed any difference in gear shifting on the auto-transmission? To be more specific… up hill or down hill gear changes Different vehicle of course but my shift points seem to be off kilter You may be thinking right now, what is this crazy Yank asking… maybe, maybe not… I’m not sure myself to be honest 😜 Something “ain’t” right and I was wondering if you’ve experienced anything similar, or have any insight on why my auto-gear-box is being so fidgety Kind regards, and cheers, Doug
I've ran BFG'S mud terrain for 10 years with the white letters on the wall cost me a small fortune and I like people to know :: ha ha ,,brother in law got BFG'S all terrain and asked for them with no white letters ???:: we don't speak now ::: ha ha
Hi bud I’m a relatively new L322 owner, (bought cos I have to tow a horse trailer for my daughter. Really interested to see how this goes week by week.
Love the content and always look forward to the next release. Had my TDV8 Westi nearly 4 months and it's brilliant. Really like the look with those tyres, definitely something i'd consider when i need to change mine. Sounds like you've got some good adventures planned, i'm trying to convince my wife that we need an Ox Overland roof tent - i'm sure she'll come round in the end!!!
I’ve always tried to get the newest car I can afford and bought a Volvo V60 R-Design recently. But, with the cost of living crisis and being from a Range Rover family (Mum’s just took delivery of her new Evoque and my Dad is waiting for his new Vogue), I think I’d rather bank the money and buy an L322! Loving the content whilst I make a decision so please keep it coming. (The Mrs is half Irish too, so hopefully your videos might help persuade her now you’re on the Emerald Isle!🤣👍🏻)
Avoid General Grabbers. I put a set on my RRS. They were noisy on the road, reduced fuel economy, and were shredded on their first trip across Salisbury Plain - two punctured. Our instructor on the day suggested Coopers as a better choice.
I use the Pirelli Scorpion Verde and cannot fault capabilities great on and off road. I have it in the 275/45/R21 size. Recently had all four replaced following a blowout on the offside front (thanks to a piece of metal sticking in the road tearing the wall!). Always feels smooth, sounds smooth and tracks straight. I did look at Coopers but ended up sticking with the Verde.....maybe a rethink next time?
Very useful video Sam, just trying to decide what all terrains to get for our L322. Currently thinking the Scorpion Verde's 255 / 55 /r20 (up from 50s) so will look a little chunkier...decisions decisions!
Cheers George. That's actually exactly what was fitted at the start of this video (what came on my 20s). It's a nice size and definitely fills the arches better than standard.
I have the same tyres on my black Jeep Grand Cherokee wk. Love the look and behave amazingly in snow. I also fitted 25mm spacers and a private plate.. vain, maybe. Bloody love it.
I use my other jeep, wj, for off roading. That has malatestas fitted, remould mud terrains.. it's the scratchy lanes that do the damage. Little tip, polish it before you go.
Hi Sam, did you produce a subsequent video about fitting larger size tyres, where you had to modify the nearside front tyre clearance by moving the windscreen washer bottle? If so, please will you remind me where to find this video, as I have searched and haven't found it myself?
Hi George, I didn’t have to move the washer bottle, that’s not necessary for this size of tyres. If you go much bigger then it might be necessary though!
I went with the Cooper AT3's! I am having a hard time with the TPSM. Shop reset them with their device & I drove off happy. Next am, TPSM Warnings. The Shop reset twice and told me to contact the online seller if reset fails. Failed 3rd time. I do not have any reset options on my dash menu (2012 HSE LUX)- do you have any solutions? thanks again for your videos!
Great video. If you get a gap Diagnostic tool you can alter the tyre ratio on the computer to accommodate the tyre size to correct the speedo reading Looks like your not that far from me recognise a few places on your video
Those new tyres maybe quieter because they're new so have tread cushioning the trye carcus from the road whereas your worn Pirellis have less tread allowing the tyre to sit closer to the road. Could be miles off my thinking but I've noticed that worn tyres are noiser over new one from when I've road tested cars at work. Either way it's a noticeable improvement which counts. 😁😁😁
@Paulie Gualtieri I find the 2.7 TDV6 is thirsty in the hills we live on, but let it loose on the motorway & you're going from about 20mpg to about 30. Lot of weight to get moving, and with all the aerodynamic charm of a breeze block. Once they're moving some they're happy though.
Due to the new incoming ULEZ I am getting rid of my diesel yota and getting an L322 (But Petrol post 2006) really interseted in the tyre selection as thats what I intend to do with the one I get. Like the video and presentation style keep it up!
Lovely Range Rover! I briefly owned a L322 TD6 a few years back, bought cheap as suspension didn't work; a new compressor and some valve thing cured it. Sold for a nice little profit. Might have to raid the piggy bank and get either a 3.6 or 4.4...hehe Also owned a Series 3 County, sold it last year...just before it seems they went mental in price - DOH! Good channel by the way mate
I wanted the 4S but couldn't find any available in the UK. I think Cooper has replaced them with the Sport 2 that I have just fitted, as they are also 3PMSF rated (all season). Both are awesome tyres though!
@@SamsMotors could be. I live in continental Europe and noticed (when looking for reviews) that some things have slightly different names that the UK. I have a Mitsubishi Shogun (pajero here) If you don't go off road, you still find they're better in the snow than (non winter) HTs
Those tyres seem pretty impressive, are they All Season (with snowflake symbol?) Apart from my L322 I also have a Suzuki Vitara (don't laugh, it's not in the RR league but actually quite a capable little off roader!) and I fitted BFG All Terrain tyres which are also All Season; they are quite noisy (everything is noisy in a rag top Vitara) but they are also great in adverse conditions (wet as well as snow). Back to the L322... I started out with Pirelli Scorpion All Season tyres which were fine 90% of the time but a couple of years ago their limitations in extreme snow were revealed as I had to make a 5-point turn on a steel snow covered road at a busy Austrian ski resort. As I inched it around, the bloody thing started to slide downhill. Sideways. Towards parked cars and ascending traffic. Every time I tried to move an inch it slid down further,, threatening to break loose into freefall at any moment. I baled out, and when my heartrate stabilised I fitted chains, and was able to make it out of there. The fear was laced with shame that this could happen while driving the ultimate 4x4 so a few days later I fitted a set of Continental TS850 Winter Contact (proper winter) tyres and the transformation was staggering; I could probably throw away those chains now (I won't!) I can remember having to descend some slopes at 5mph to avoid losing traction; now I can drive them Iin the same conditions with impunity, and can take snow covered bends without a hint of drifting. In extreme situations I deploy HDC not because I definitely need it but because it's there so why not; it equires a leap of faith but is a remarkable feeling as the car feels its own way down an icy descent, with those busy alternating little noises as it controls each individual wheel with a coordinated blend of power control and ABS. What an awesome piece of kit!
Hi Justin, they're '3PMSF' (3 Peak Mountain Snowflake) rated, which effectively means they meet the requirements for a winter tyre. Your example of sliding down an icy hill is a great example of why there's no real substitute for proper winter tyres. Thanks for the comment!
UA-cam suggested your channel cause of stuff I already watch. I have a 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE. Looking to change vehicles this year at somepoint and can’t decide between a Disco 4 or the late L322 although the L322 is swaying me and your videos aren’t helping!! Ha ha! Looking forward to future videos and also interested in how you find the running costs, servicing, fuel etc. 👍
I actually really like the look of the late FL2! I saw one the other day and it reminded me of a baby L322! Thanks for your suggestions, I'm going to look into a running costs video.
Hi Sam, l have the same l322 as yours and thinking of the same upgrade with the 275/55’s. What have you done with recalibrating the Speedo. How do you do that ? Thanks
Performance aside, they new tyres are little too wide in my view - but purely my personal opinion, your car trim it they way you want it. Really enjoy your channel👍👍
I actually agree with you. I'd have loved to have stuck with a 255 wide tyre and just gone up in profile to give a 32" tyre, but sadly the sizes just don't exist on a 20" rim! I think it's driven by American tastes for big fat wide tyres. Glad you enjoy it :D
@@SamsMotors You get more grip with a wider tyre, which is a consideration both on and off road imo. Downside is a wider tyre will increase drag, which in turn increases fuel consumption as it requires more power to move forward at the same speed. Major issue on a mountainbike, not so much of a worry when you have a 4.4 litre turbocharged V8 pushing your almost three tonnes down the lanes. You'll hardly notice a difference, except maybe in your stopping distances (especially in snow, did you SEE that TFL tyre test?!?).
Hi Sam I have the same tyres on a l332 now thanks! Wondering what psi you try to keep them at? The l332 is quite heavy so I’m nervous to stick to what is on the side of the tyre.
Hey, congrats on your new tyres The figure on the side of the tyre is a “maximum pressure” so should never be run at this. I run mine at around 34PSI all round, which has resulted in pretty even wear over the last 30k miles.
I love these cars with chunky tyres. I put Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's on my D3, a very aggressive all terrain tyre and didn't notice much more. noise.
Hi Sam just wondering how your finding the cooper tyres now you have had them for abit ? Wear and general performance in wet weather looking at them myself for my next set cheers 👍
I've probably only done just over a thousand miles on them so far, but so far so good. They're still nice and quiet, and I haven't noticed any significant drop in fuel economy. They're grippy in all conditions I've faced so far.
I do. It's working well - a bit noisy though, either the fan or coolant pump is on the way out, so I'll probably strip it out when we get some warmer weather and give it a good going over.
@@SamsMotors yeah. Have no idea what’s wrong with mine. I set it, it comes on and the fan runs for about five seconds then it just shuts down. Mystery.
Sam, did you have any issues with fitting these ATs to the standard rims? I have 255 50 r20 and these coopers are much bigger in diameter. 4.4 tdv8 2011. Do they rub at the lowest suspension setting?
These are L405 rims which have a bit more offset than the standard L322 rims. Apparently there is a bit of rubbing with this size fitted to standard L322 20” rims.
Hi Sam I just got COOPER DISCOVERER AT3 SPORT - 275/55/20 XL - Had them fitted and there is a clipping sound. I think they are too big. Is there a chance I’ve got a different tyre to you fml?😅
Hi, there is a small adjustment needed to the rear right wheel arch plastic liner. The bulge in the liner which goes around the fuel filler neck needs to be trimmed.
@@SamsMotors thank you for this Sam! I’m off to the garage tomorrow and will ask for them to look at this! It sounded driverside front to me but hopefully that was just vibrations from the rear.
I’m a bit late to this, but I think part of the treason the tyres read quieter was that you were going 6% out so slower. It might be worth checking again against a gps speedo.
@@dansutherland70 😅 you were on the right track though! As an aside, the tyres have definitely gotten noisier since they were new (as expected). Would be interesting to do the same measurement now and see by how much!
Great channel love it ! I have a range sport 2010 and I’m in the Middle East originally Sheffield 😉 Thanks for the content is very helpful I’m currently trying a few mods the tire advice was helpful is I have road tires on 20’s but I want to increase the tire size - question what is the max tire size on 20’s I can fit ? Also I would like to buy some other upgrades (suspension mainly) what site would you recommend ( I have an international shipping address out of the uk ) Thanks for the content wish I had found this channel sooner ! Drew
Hey Drew thanks for the comment! I'm not entirely sure regarding Sport tyre size, but I believe the max safe size without going too crazy with lifts and arch mods is the same as I have fitted here, 275/55 R20. And I'd recommend the Cooper Discoverer AT3s too, been really impressed with them. As for sites there are a few good ones in the UK, for general spares and service items Advanced Factors are really good. Not sure what you mean by suspension upgrades but PowerfulUK have a good selection of bolt on accessories for the L320... Most of which you can get from China cheaper but, ya know!
Good for you Sam you have a range rover because you want one. Im a country boy dont need a 4x4 but want one and did have a mitsu L200 till 3 years ago and a car accident rote it off not my fault going to get another at some point love big 4x4s. Great vid
Cheers Andy. I had a few 'haters' pointing out that I live in an urban area on a previous video. I'm also a country boy at heart, having studied at an Agricultural uni and done a degree related to agriculture. I just happen to live in a town at the moment!
Only just dropped on this channel, good to see a decent, raw video on the basics (if you could call it that) without being peppered with in video sponsors and begging for likes and subscribers every 5 farts... Like the Bald And Bankrupt of car vloggers... Job well done - just to be a Hippocrate I've liked and subscribed anyway 😂
Great comment, and thank-you for the feedback and sub! It's always difficult to see how one's own videos compare with others from the viewer's point of view, so it's nice to read stuff like this. As I said in a previous video, I do find 'begging' for subscribers and likes very cringeworthy, but - at the same time - that video has garnered the most likes of any of the Range Rover videos yet, so it does appear to work! 😂
Hey Sam…I’m struggling to fit the larger AT tyres without a lift or spacers. They seem to catch on the small nib coming off the bottom edge of the front suspension struts…basically top of the shock absorber before it goes into the airbag section. Did u fit yours while locked in access height?…t h able to lower the car to access height with them on?…lastly - hv u extended the bump-stops at all to ensure they don’t wedge if u have an air suspension failure?
Hi Grant, Are your tyres catching in the straight ahead position? If so, it might be that your wheels have less offset than my L405 ones. Mine has a slight rub in reverse on full lock, but apart from that it's clear. Bump stops aren't extended but it is on my to-do list.
I’ve had mine for 10 years now & still love it. I’ve been looking at doing something similar with my tyres - is there much speed difference & how did you deal with it ??
Beautiful, can't beat a Rangie. That seat repair price you got sounds pretty good I thought. Have you had a quote from Nationwide trim ? Love the videos, keep em coming.
It's not a bad price, my only worry is the driver's seat then would look too 'new' in comparison with the others. I'm still looking for a good used one but I may end up getting more quotes. Cheers!
@@SamsMotors Thats good thinking, I hadn't thought of the difference in colour. I have a local garage that I've used over the last 9 years for my P38 repairs. He often buys non running Land Rovers for spares, breakes them down and stores the parts, so as he can offer customers a new or used part. I have bought used parts from him a number of times saving lots of money compared to new parts. I have no idea if he has an L322 seat in your colour, but it could be worth a 5 minute phone call. Hey Mate, great videos. Been hunting for a L322 for a while now, waiting for the right one, wanting to turn it into an overland vehicle for European touring and off road travel to potentially replace my ‘10 Defender 90. Have you considered raising your suspension to get an extra lift? See they do replacement height sensors to push the thing up by 2”. Thoughts on your overland / off-road plans and what you want to do to the L322 to make it ready for adventure? Cheers 👍🏻

Hello. Great video! Wondering if you have a recommendation. In the US, trying to find some beefy All terrain tires like yours for my RR Sport 2012 Supercharged. Currently with standard tires - 275/40r20. I can't seem to find anything that will fit. Any recs or do you how large I can go?
Hi Jeff, I believe the 275/55 R20 Coopers I have on mine should fit your L320 without too much difficulty. I'd have thought you'd find those easily enough in the US, with Cooper being an American made tyre?
I realise these won't be to all tastes, but I'm definitely getting closer to my ultimate L322 build here 😬

@@petrolthreads_ Hi,
The rear right arch liner has a bulge in it to clear the fuel filler neck - this will need to be trimmed, or allowed to "self clearance" over time (this is what I did).
The only other rub I get is a very slight one when going full lock in reverse, but again it's very minor. The L405 wheels on mine have more offset which helps a little.

Thanks Sam, great video.. I was about to buy 22's to fill the arches but will defo go down this route instead on my 2010 3.6.
A very good channel! I want a L322 for the weekends! I've a black X5 as a Daily driver
and when it's possible I will go from Sweden to Germany where you can find well handen examples. The videos expires me to fulfil a dream.Doc
Just ordered Coopers! Have owned mine for over 6+ years now 67k miles Also Re_map 395BHP 800 Torks 27mpg-ish 33+ on a run...Best 4x4 ever owned...
Really enjoying these videos. Thinking of getting an L322 soon and these videos help me reason as to why i should!
You’ve done a great job of the Range Rover, plus convincing many aspiring buyers to keep looking. Keep posting mate, 👏👏
Thanks, will do!
Think I will go for these tyres ,when I need to change mine ,used to work at Goodyears and used to make the wrangler range
Sam, great to see the L322 getting the love it deserves. Probably my all time favourite range rover. I'll have to wait until around 2040 though to buy one. Irish road tax on these in €2350 until they are classics!!!!!
The Irish tax situation is pretty tough! I can't imagine having to pay that much a year!
Get a commercial 5 seater €333 per year tax. 😉great content I’ll be shoving a set of coopers on my disco. 👍
Great video and great choice on tires! Iv had cooper tires on previous trucks and never had issues with the tires, they drive softer, and yes a nice smooth and quieter ride too. Iv had my L322 for almost a year. I def will be switching to the same ones you got when it’s time!
They're fantastic tyres. These have been on over 2 years and around 22,000 miles and are still looking great with 60-70% tread left.
I have a question… Going up 2” on tire size…. Have you noticed any difference in gear shifting on the auto-transmission? To be more specific… up hill or down hill gear changes
Different vehicle of course but my shift points seem to be off kilter
You may be thinking right now, what is this crazy Yank asking… maybe, maybe not… I’m not sure myself to be honest 😜
Something “ain’t” right and I was wondering if you’ve experienced anything similar, or have any insight on why my auto-gear-box is being so fidgety
Kind regards, and cheers, Doug
I'm liking the the fact that you got the tyre's with the white littering on the wall it shows the rover is than just a show car
I ummed and ahhed about that, but finally decided to show the Coopers off in their full glory. And I'm really glad I did!
I've ran BFG'S mud terrain for 10 years with the white letters on the wall cost me a small fortune and I like people to know :: ha ha ,,brother in law got BFG'S all terrain and asked for them with no white letters ???:: we don't speak now ::: ha ha
Hi bud
I’m a relatively new L322 owner, (bought cos I have to tow a horse trailer for my daughter.
Glad you enjoy it! I'm looking into a roof tent at the moment. Can't wait to be able to get away in her!
Great to have found, great stuff, good luck!
Thanks!
Recently found your channel and subbed. Keep up.the great work and series. Don't even own. Land rover but find my self entertained watching
Awesome, thank you! That's really nice to know that the videos hold some universal appeal!
Looking at getting one of these in a year or so. Just found your channel by chance. Good informative videos. Nice work. 😎
Awesome! Thank you!
Run Avon All terrains on my l322 tdv8 just as quiet as previous as road tyres.
Good video mate 👍👍👍
Another great video, my morning Valentines viewing hehe
I run 275/55r20 BF Goodrich KO2 on my 4.4 TDV8 with a Johnson Rods suspension lift
I have the Westminster version l322 on 20” general at3’s... awesome combo.. i love it
Lots of people rate the General Grabbers for sure!
Nice bit of undertaking Sam..
It's tempting when the vehicle in lane 1 is doing 55 or 60 but I just can't bring myself to do it. It doesn't feel right.
I subscribed today, brilliant content, very enjoyable, love it. 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧😎
Great video. If you get a gap Diagnostic tool you can alter the tyre ratio on the computer to accommodate the tyre size to correct the speedo reading
Looks like your not that far from me recognise a few places on your video
saved me writing that..LOL.
Cheers! I believe the JLR SDD software I have on my laptop can do the same thing - planning on having a go next week.
You're totally correct, tyres do tend to get noisier as they wear. But I'm just glad the Coopers have started off so quietly!
WOW THIS IS MY DREAM TO DO THIS TO A range rover l322 4.4 TD V8 terrain tyres for the win
It's been my dream to do the same for ages too!
COULD YOU PLEASE MAKE A LITTLE VIDEO ON HOW THIRSTY THE CAR IS ?? MPG IN TOWN, COMBINED & MOTORWAYS ? CHEERS 👌
If its anything like my old one, can watch the needle move on the 100L tank it has whether in town or motorway
Sure. I'll probably do a video on total running costs, including servicing and repairs etc too.
3.6 TDV8 MPG 26 POSSIBLE 30 MPG STEADY 60/70MPH. IF YOU HAVE THE 4.4 V8 LONGDISTANCE SAME ROAD SPEED 30- 35 MPG THATS WHAT YOU GET
Great video only a recent subscriber but keep up the l322 content 👍
Due to the new incoming ULEZ I am getting rid of my diesel yota and getting an L322 (But Petrol post 2006) really interseted in the tyre selection as thats what I intend to do with the one I get. Like the video and presentation style keep it up!
The wider Tyre looks nice gut not always the best for extreme off road grip.
Got some cooper discoverry at 3's on my isuzu d max centurion. Great tyre, grippy in the wet.
Lovely Range Rover! I briefly owned a L322 TD6 a few years back, bought cheap as suspension didn't work; a new compressor and some valve thing cured it. Sold for a nice little profit.
Might have to raid the piggy bank and get either a 3.6 or 4.4...hehe
Also owned a Series 3 County, sold it last year...just before it seems they went mental in price - DOH!
Good channel by the way mate
I just came off a set of discoverer AT3s onto AT3 4s. Better at cold weather grip. Love both sets I've had
Excellent video! 👍
@@SamsMotors Yep, that's what I called it... a baby Range Rover
Any idea if the earlier, non-folding key can be similarly repaired..?
Hi Sam
I have the same tyres on a l332 now thanks!
Wondering what psi you try to keep them at?
The l332 is quite heavy so I’m nervous to stick to what is on the side of the tyre.
Hey, congrats on your new tyres
The figure on the side of the tyre is a “maximum pressure” so should never be run at this. I run mine at around 34PSI all round, which has resulted in pretty even wear over the last 30k miles.
I love these cars with chunky tyres. I put Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's on my D3, a very aggressive all terrain tyre and didn't notice much more. noise.
Very nice! I agree, the chunky tyres really set them off.
Currently looking for one of these so I found this channel. I’m nervous about a high miler Range Rover so it’s research research research time
Hi Sam just wondering how your finding the cooper tyres now you have had them for abit ? Wear and general performance in wet weather looking at them myself for my next set cheers 👍
I've probably only done just over a thousand miles on them so far, but so far so good. They're still nice and quiet, and I haven't noticed any significant drop in fuel economy. They're grippy in all conditions I've faced so far.
Do you have the fuel burning heater in yours? Mine is supposed to have it but I can’t get it to work. Would love to see a vid if you have it.
Mystery.
UA-cam led me here. Been thinking about getting an L322 for a while. Those 20" suit the car very well. Looks like you're in my area of Warwickshire.
You like the roads around Offchurch don’t you! :) My daughter plays netball there :)
Nice upload. Cinematics at the begging look smart, they look a bit like what Calvin does in Calvin's Car Diary. 😎😎👍👍
Thank-you mate, I really like Calvin's cinematic stuff, so that's a great compliment.
Cheers!
Which size of AT tires have you got on your land rover ?
Thx .
Hi Sam I have 2012 westminster with 255/50/20. Could I fit the 275/55/20 on my rims.
Don’t forget the old Pirelli had flat spots which would increase there road noise so not surprised new AT are quieter they are round !
Yes this is true, I did point out that they're part worn so not a completely fair comparison. Still, I'm glad it hasn't made the ride any noisier!
Hi Sam
I just got COOPER DISCOVERER AT3 SPORT - 275/55/20 XL -
Had them fitted and there is a clipping sound.
No issues with rubbing when turning at this size? Thinking of this tire but at the factory size. Perhaps not now!
I’m a bit late to this, but I think part of the treason the tyres read quieter was that you were going 6% out so slower. It might be worth checking again against a gps speedo.
The new tyres are bigger, so the same speed on the speedometer would actually be 6% faster in real terms.
doh. @@SamsMotors 😁
@@dansutherland70 😅 you were on the right track though!
As an aside, the tyres have definitely gotten noisier since they were new (as expected). Would be interesting to do the same measurement now and see by how much!
Sam do enjoy your videos on l322 , as I have a mint 2012 one 👍
Did you get any tyre rub atall. I'm currently using 255/55/20's but thinking of upgrading to 275/55/20's too
A little - on the rear arch liners, but easily trimmed/adjusted to stop it.
Great channel love it ! I have a range sport 2010 and I’m in the Middle East originally Sheffield 😉
Thanks for the content is very helpful
I’m currently trying a few mods the tire advice was helpful is I have road tires on 20’s but I want to increase the tire size - question what is the max tire size on 20’s I can fit ?
Also I would like to buy some other upgrades (suspension mainly) what site would you recommend ( I have an international shipping address out of the uk )
Thanks for the content wish I had found this channel sooner !
Great video and lovely car man!
Meant to add that my L322 is a 2011 MY 4.4L TDV8…not sure if the suspension changed at all when bigger / slightly modified brake callipers were added?
Hi Grant,
Are your tyres catching in the straight ahead position? If so, it might be that your wheels have less offset than my L405 ones. Mine has a slight rub in reverse on full lock, but apart from that it's clear.
Bump stops aren't extended but it is on my to-do list.
I’ve had mine for 10 years now & still love it.
I’ve been looking at doing something similar with my tyres - is there much speed difference & how did you deal with it ??
The speed difference is about 6%. So at 70 indicated you're doing about 74. I'm going to recalibrate the speedo using SDD hopefully to correct it!
The Coopers look great.
What diagnostics are you using? I use the GAP IID which I have found does most things OK.
I have a copy of JLR SDD on my laptop and a Mongoose cable. I'd love an IID tool for a 'carry in the car' solution though.
@@SamsMotors where can I buy this?
I have RRSport 2011
@@InfinityProjector I got mine from cartool.co.uk
@@SamsMotors Thanks. Do I need some codes to be able to use those tools?
BTW great content! Keep up the good work
I would love to see some MX-5 content, I've noticed it in the background of a few videos!
Noted! If there are enough Mx-5 fans out there, I can't see a reason not to drop a few videos on it.
The company is called C R Allen & sons 01273 584987. Ask for Chris, Good luck, Mark.

Sounds fantastic mate 👍🏾
I had Cooper tyres on my Terrano,,not good..Switched them to BF Goodrich .
I've had Michelin on aswell.Good video
Hey Mate, great videos. Been hunting for a L322 for a while now, waiting for the right one, wanting to turn it into an overland vehicle for European touring and off road travel to potentially replace my ‘10 Defender 90. Have you considered raising your suspension to get an extra lift? See they do replacement height sensors to push the thing up by 2”. Thoughts on your overland / off-road plans and what you want to do to the L322 to make it ready for adventure? Cheers 👍🏻
Hi Mark, have you found your perfect L322 yet? This might interest you: ua-cam.com/video/auUze92GGNI/v-deo.html
@@fullfat4x4 Got one thanks, it’s on my channel Overlanding4wd. It’s a 4.4 Autobiography Black, the mods have begun in anger and I’ve just completed its first few days off road here in Spain!
Liking those tyres Sam, I have been looking at them too. I have the same spec L322 except mine is the 3.6. I look forward to seeing what mods you do to yours. You definitely need to go Green Laning in your L322, we did our first ever green lane last year. Have a look at our last video on our channel if you want to see a good place to go and play. Might see you out there on the lanes one day. Good luck with the Channel. Subscribed!. Thanks, Derek
