Great lighting work. Personally I think I would use something a bit more streamlined for the back spot lights. Those look a bit out of place on a L322. They look like they belong on a trailer or something like that. All love though, keep up the great work!

@@SamsMotors Very wise. I would also remove the fuse when it goes for it's MOT, it won't be a homologated main beam light with an E rating, which it needs to be a legal headlamp on EU/UK roads. Usually the packaging says "for off-road use only" or similar. This is why people generally put them on separate switches. For the same reason the reversing spots *may* not pass an MOT. This can also be an issue for LED replacement bulbs. Technically, HID or LED headlamps (and replacing any other E lamp) on a non homologated car can be an instant fail now. A lot depends on how the MOT guy is feeling on the day. Search for "eu led lamp mot fail" (or UK as appropriate at the time)
Thanks for the advice - fortunately, I'm within the law with these. The Osram DrivingLED bar is ECE approved, being under 55W, and is therefore legal for road use as a main beam / additional driving light. Constructions & use for reverse lights says that white rearward facing lights of under 24W are also legal. All of that said - I probably still will disable them for the MOT/ NCT test, as you could easily get an MOT tester who doesn't understand the regs and would fail it.
@@SamsMotors the NCT testers are far more strict than the U.K. testers. If it’s on the vehicle it has to work. They failed a mate of mines van with two spot lamps on the grille. One wasn’t working and they said if it’s fitted it needs to be working.
Not yet, but I do have a pair that I might fit... Not sure on the looks of them hence the delay. I'd probably look at wiring them into the trailer wiring... If not it wouldn't be too difficult to run some wires down from the rear light units into the bumper.
Hey mate, You will want to check out how the NCT will assess that light bar. I've heard pup talk that if it's connected to the main beams it will fail.. and also, if it's fitted but won't work it fails. So I guess if the above is correct, might want to keep that in mind.
Thanks bud! From what I have read in the NCT testers manual, it should meet all the requirements. It's at the right height from the ground and is ECE marked, so it should count as a legal auxiliary light. I can't see anything about the main beam wiring so hopefully that'll be alright. 🤔
Awesome video, man. I love the work you do it is great inspiration for my L322. I still need to do an intro video to mine haha Thanks again for this one *thumbsup*
Another great video Sam. Be interested to hear your service experience, specifically oil. These engines are known to have weepy oil and coolant leaks. What makes it troublesome is the electronic oil level sensor fail and no backup manual dip. I change mine bi-yearly, 9 ltrs comes out 9.5 in, as per service manual. Loosing 1 ltr per yr is acceptable, last thing we want is blown turbos and body off nightmare..
Sam, in this video you show the dash screen when the reverse camera is on. In the upper left part of the screen there is a red triangle with a red exclamation point inside. Have you checked out what this means? I have the same thing going on with mine.
Been planning this for my 2006 l322 but no idea how to do the wiring so this is awesome. Also got a nice loud air horn to fit at some point...
