I've uninstalled Conan months ago now, but from what I remember, the living settlement mod was better than how funcom did it, could train your thralls, set up patrols around your base AND THE PATHING WORKED
What this game needs (for PVE players) is boss fight rework. There needs to be a challenge. All the boss fights are tank and spank, well mostly dodge and spank. It is boring and has no replay value. There are few and by few I mean two bosses that actually feel like boss fights but are still super easy. I've given up on this game a year ago but still think it's a wasted potential and i wish they would finally add something worth coming back to..
I once had a really good berserker. Probably my best. Definitely a unicorn compared to my others. She was tied as the servers strongest Berserker. She was my Bearer characters babysitter and I could just sit back and let her do all the work. This is even without the thrall set. She could pretty much solo Thag on her own and I just had to really keep her out of stun lock. Everything else past that was boring. Destroyed the dragon bosses. Destroyed the Well of Skelos stuff. Destroyed everything and all I had to do was not die and watch the show. Used her to help others clear stuff and I never really had to do anything that wasn't to do with crafting or base building. It would have been different if the bosses were more engaging.
@@MrBadBean you used to be able to kinda do that, back when you could kite mobs all over the map. My fave starter tactic was kiting a 1skull mob to a a noob river base, stand on the roof and make the mob hit the base lol.
Lets break this down. I was a solo, so that's my context. One Alchemist for the whole base, yeah, normally I'd have two. One, on for DP, one for potions. NBD. Power plans had to grind a bit, but now they have a little to do as me. So, benefit to clans. Can't steal my thralls, basically just kill\destroy everything I have. Previously I would leave out Santa cookies, leave chests unlocked, the clan would take 'everything I had' and having seen all the chests unlocked not even bother wasting DP on looking for secret rooms (which for me always existed). The point of this was post raid(99% offline) was that I had resources to seal off the base quickly and them I'm back to business. My trick was to make sure they didn't ruin all the benches. If I need to quickly gather everything to run, I usually had 4 chests with all the good stuff as my go bag. Quick round of the benches to collect the t4's and I would gate out. Midnight was taken away, but there is always another way. Now? Not even sure if I can take them. What take 1-2 as follows and run(guessing there)? I don't get it. Thankfully I no longer play PVP and PSE\SP is boring as batshit. In then end I would run around as a naked with stone daggers just trying to see if I could kill croc bosses or whatever, take out whole dungeons with an iron short sword, etc... no PVP = stone dead bored.
Just give us some options. How about the option to opt in or out of the thralls walking around, pretending to exist. If we just want to put it in a crafter slot like we used to, we should be able to. But no. They force the changes upon everyone. I miss Conan but it's been months since I have "played" on a server. I just mess around in single player.
I found the Age of War was a joke ,how can you have a war when it's just you and 2 other npc and you have to ask to be rided . not jumping of my set for the next age .
It's mostly an RPS aspect. Yes it's nice that you don't need a bunch of crafting thralls for multiple benches. Koodos. But there are issues that need addressing. The biggest issue I have with their dev team is, the mod community is faster, more creative and more proficient at fixing game issues. I play CE to relax now, I run a server, build a bit, drop on when I'm bored and have free time.
I’m a PVE player, I have done PVP in the past. This living settlement is all well and good for the PVE crowd. BUT, it’s About Time PVP got some love and some much needed updates. I would rather have seen more activities being added to The Exile Lands and Siptah, more world activities and random encounters. Instead Funcom are making living Settlements, adding to the already buggy and laggy servers. (I play on Console), so all this update is going to bring is more Issues and bugs that will Take Months for the Developers to fix.
It's bad bro. If your base is at least 20 tiles and 5 tiles high, you're gonna experience hella lag, AT THE MOMENT. God forbid we summon a purge. @Mahazioth
There’s already a mod that does the better….. we have server transfers, with 7 map clusters, we have boats, we have real magic, what ever they are doing is just a poor imitation, they stole this idea from soulmask….
This ability to have followers and for them to provide boons has been in games for decades. It has been a key part of RTS games from the beginning. This isn’t a new concept so no they didn’t steal it from soulmask or anything else. It’s a well trodden trope.
Just a friendly PSA. I'm on 1534 Official PVE NA and even though I prepared for the update I lost several named thralls that were placed and caged. On my thrall history they don't appear as gone as well. I was able to rescue one of many gone missing and all the players on this server are experiencing many complications after this update. We already know the drill that they enjoy rolling out broken updates on Friday to be resolved at their leisure since very few times they care to reach out during the weekend concerning hiccups and bugs they failed to solve prior to releasing update. I'm on 1524 with 6200 hours of gameplay. ••• Thank you.
for a pve players like me. i like this. gonna burn another 6 month on grinding shit and see what monstrosity of a base i make then drop of it again after i done and comeback when there's new on the game.
No doubt gonna be some mods that alter the behavior anyway also for a more customizable system. There already was before this update after all so I bet there will be something for everyone. Unless you play on consoles there's also allot of servers with pvp that use mods. Even ones that rolls it back to old CE style game play so I don't really get what the big deal is mods exist exactly for this reason.

I've been saying for a while that removing the battlepass was a mistake.... I mean... I've already completed all of the Exiled Lands content multiple times... what reason do I have to run a private server and/or log on now?
all i can say, i don't mind them ripping off other "good games systems" BUT wat i do mind is them not fixing things or saying they are fixed but actually are "ductape'd" fixed and break the second they do a hotfix or so. i still like the game mostly because of mods and the fact its a sandbox i can basically make my own fun in this game, otherwise i'd had dropped this game a LOOOOOONG time ago. they can 100% say thank you to modders, they are the people keeping this game a float.
I had a lot of patience for CE, I stood through so much of the shitty things and kept going. But after 6 years I let CE go. Didnt look at the hype, didnt check it out. Felt good to just let my shit go and never look back.

Yeah they could have just added the details HUD and the possibility to use them regardless the bench they're in, but no, they wanted more thralls to wander around and create even more lag. Also the Follower status is such a bull crap. And the new Thralls are such a waste of time, days of waiting for a thrall that has lower HP than others, and hits less harder than most of the other thralls. The only useful things they added are: Purge giving workers too, Jailors, and the thrall boost and HUD in benches. Luckily the modders are amazing people and do a great job keeping the game alive, as you said!
I'm kinda split about the crafter thralls. (for PVP) It really hurts early game raiding. Finding a bunch of crafters in an early raid is a great boost. But in late game people usually end up with 5 chests of crafters and they lose value. So in a way it's fine they get spent. But on the other hand, pretty much only t4 thralls and bomb materials have value as loot in end game raiding (cos you probably already got most stuff anyway) and people already just hang out in their base all evening and less incentive to raid is obviously bad.
So instead to make COMBAT better ( not that it is bad but EVEN BETTER ) , to have different combos with different weapons.. maybe even to learn new combos or attacks...better looking weapons. more cool looking armor and real value from them ( heavy armor, light armor etc ) ... cool bosses and boss fights...improve the over all game play.. make it even more real ..and cool... So instead all that, they do shit that is pointless and lame....

PvP is impossible to fix. There are too many complex systems involved. There is a reason why most PvP games don't have a persistent map which is 99% buildable on with animated building pieces like the drawbridge. You might think these things are simple buy they are not.
I like this change. Sure there are bugs but they are making the game more immersive for PVE. As for PVP I think it will improve the game. It is liable to reduce processing time for thralls in general because less time will be allocated for fewer active thralls. Eliminating processing bottlenecks tends to limit the instances of racing bugs. I think they are very keen on reducing buggy behavior but there is a ton of spaghetti code to process every cycle. PVP players are spoiled stealing crafter thralls. Let them grind for thralls for a change.
Can you explain to me why in their own livestream thralls are getting stuck in objects and floating in the sky if they are so keen on reducing buggy behavior? Cause it's been like that for years now... Is that keen?

Well the living settlement idea has been something they have wanted to do since before launch, and also, if you dislike the game so much, why are you still playing it? And if you think you can make a better game, then by all means make one.
It's because we care that we still play. It's because we care we voice our displeasure. It's because care we still give them our money. We care about the game. We have devoted so much time to it. You seem to not understand it's because we care. Funcom just doesn't get it. They don't listen. We tell them what needs fixing and they completely ignore it. The thing is the game has an ecosystem for both PvE and PvP and this update ruins that ecosystem. They don't pay attention to how the game is being played and they do whatever they want. Before you say it no, just because they are the devs does not mean they can do whatever they want. At the end of the day we are their boss. We ultimately own the game and it's our money that feeds them. We give them our hard earned money to support them and then they do something to drastically change the flow of the game. They have made countless changes just to make it as boring and mundane as possible and add pointless and unnecessary grind. We are trying to tell them what we like and don't like. We stay because we care. We want them to succeed, but we also want to be heard. The stance you are taking is not what it is at all.

I wanted soulmask to do well. I really did. I didnt bother playing it because I wanted to wait and see how it would do but I just went back to Ark as well.
Funcom sucks. Conan Exiles sucks. It was fun till it wasn't. Dune Awakening will be the same dumpster fire. The character animations from the footage they've shown look janky af. Same company. Same carelessness. Don't support this crap with your time and money.
Also not everyone plays on PC consoles don't have mods mods are only on PC we console players have to wait for updates like these while the whole time we here PC players say they've had that for years which is why I think games on console don't get the love they deserve because if they don't pander to PC players PC players say that the game is dead or trash and consoles get put on the back burner for PC PVP so PVC and PvE don't even get acknowledged they exist
Console players should be the most outraged imo. At least on pc we have mods and can actually change game versions/updates. Even ARK asa has mod support now.
Have mixed thoughts with pvp. Can imagine it would be fun to kill other peoples crafter thralls lol. But for small bases or moving bases these placed crafter thralls are annoying.
I played both religiously. Privates are trash because admins are usually corrupt or side with "friends" and let people bend rules. Official full of cheaters.

FunCrom does what it does but last gen still recieves updates. While Green Hell devs are allready dropping updating gen I'm on. Since I'm playing on console, quess what I can't have mods? So yeah, I know you Bill Gates PC boys got whole arsenal of games to play right now. I don't. Conan Exiles is literally what I've got.
Save money and buy a pc like everyone else. Plug it to the tv at start, works just fine. then upgrade over time .. buy a previous series GPU to start with and you have entire youtube teaching you how to chose and build a PC.

no, i do not think you want to meet the qa team, i bet they are just a bunch of hired proffessional dudes whos job it is to buffer our questions and complains, without having any or only small knowledge of the game. i even bet those qa people are actually the same as you get on the phone when you have questions about your handy, insurance or what ever. there only job is to hush/mother us and to keep the developers in their safe zone. you will never get throu to the devs, they live in there own world, knowing nothing of the real probs or cant understand it

I have things disappear all of the time with this new installment of the game but that was a day one bug. it's nothing new. you can deal with it and keep playing or leave like most did already. teh best thuing they could have done is make crafters phantom. that would stop, them getting attacked, running into walls. getting stop when a fighter stands there ect. Its and easty fix, and not hard at al hbut. really dont care. I'll still play this until it pisses me off too much tol go play something else. there's over a million games out there so go play one of them instead

I adore weather in games and that would be a neat change I would actually love to see. It was funny when they added some events to exiled lands then had to disable them due to issues. Guess the QA team missed those bugs.

Oh no as a PvE player this is also a bad change I assure you. A big part of our game is new players coming and going and that gives us reason to keep playing. Just helping people get into the game, setting them up as they need or want and just being there for them with excess stuff. With this change that cuts our need to stay down significantly. Though one thing I noticed is how many complaints came from PvP and I just thought... "You are playing PvP. You signed up to be miserable and have people do things against you. People use exploits and any other mechanic they can to get the edge over other players all the time. I don't know why they are complaining so much. I don't play PvP because I recognize that is going to happen." Though yeah it's a bad change for the game as a whole. I pointed both the PvE and PvP side of things out and I said I think a lot of people to miss how it actually hurts the game. Either that or they won't care. I suck at survival games and that's why I like Conan. It was that game back in the day that was easy enough for me to finally get the grasp of one. I got the game in alpha so I was able to grow with the game. I like the concept and the idea of surviving against the world. Ark was just too hard for me, 7D2D was just too clunky for me and I have played others. Though I never sat there and complained that things needed to change. Which is actually why I kind of find it hilarious that the PvP community did so much about things not being balanced and now my thralls because of them with no need of PvP balance can't fully use a war axe. Though yeah this update is bad. I'm also against the fully voice acted companions because we are going to lose thrall diversity over time. We are going to lose the ability to give people good thralls. The update as a whole is just terrible. I think this update being terrible is one thing both the PvE and PvP community can stand united on.
Thralls needed a nerf but not a nerf into the dirt. On a pvp server they are pretty much useless, even bearer thralls. Pets don't ever stand a chance even in pve mob fights. Yes I play pvp only and that's where I will always reside but these changes also hurt the pve community as well and I appreciate you taking the time to share your opinions. It's nice to hear even pve players are upset about the changes. Not all of course but some.

Just merge Siptah and Exiles map or let you teleport between the two to add more content. You can already do this with Sunken City

amen after 3k hours in PVP i had to quit because they never added any pvp content i the last 4 years.

Survival crafting has turned into shitty versions of the sims.
I did the Eradication guide. Took all my thralls from the benches and boxed them. Probably gonna clip or who knows what

But on the other hand, pretty much only t4 thralls and bomb materials have value as loot in end game raiding (cos you probably already got most stuff anyway) and people already just hang out in their base all evening and less incentive to raid is obviously bad.
So instead to make COMBAT better ( not that it is bad but EVEN BETTER ) , to have different combos with different weapons.. maybe even to learn new combos or attacks...better looking weapons. more cool looking armor and real value from them ( heavy armor, light armor etc ) ... cool bosses and boss fights...improve the over all game play.. make it even more real ..and cool...
So instead all that, they do shit that is pointless and lame....

PvP is impossible to fix. There are too many complex systems involved. There is a reason why most PvP games don't have a persistent map which is 99% buildable on with animated building pieces like the drawbridge. You might think these things are simple buy they are not.

I like this change. Sure there are bugs but they are making the game more immersive for PVE. As for PVP I think it will improve the game. It is liable to reduce processing time for thralls in general because less time will be allocated for fewer active thralls. Eliminating processing bottlenecks tends to limit the instances of racing bugs. I think they are very keen on reducing buggy behavior but there is a ton of spaghetti code to process every cycle. PVP players are spoiled stealing crafter thralls. Let them grind for thralls for a change.

Playing a game like this is like watching a Marvel movie. If a game can give me more than 50% suspension of disbelief I'm happy.
Well the living settlement idea has been something they have wanted to do since before launch, and also, if you dislike the game so much, why are you still playing it? And if you think you can make a better game, then by all means make one.
It's because we care that we still play. It's because we care we voice our displeasure. It's because care we still give them our money. We care about the game. We have devoted so much time to it. You seem to not understand it's because we care. Funcom just doesn't get it. They don't listen. We tell them what needs fixing and they completely ignore it. The thing is the game has an ecosystem for both PvE and PvP and this update ruins that ecosystem. They don't pay attention to how the game is being played and they do whatever they want.
Before you say it no, just because they are the devs does not mean they can do whatever they want. At the end of the day we are their boss. We ultimately own the game and it's our money that feeds them. We give them our hard earned money to support them and then they do something to drastically change the flow of the game. They have made countless changes just to make it as boring and mundane as possible and add pointless and unnecessary grind. We are trying to tell them what we like and don't like. We stay because we care. We want them to succeed, but we also want to be heard. The stance you are taking is not what it is at all.

Console players should be the most outraged imo. At least on pc we have mods and can actually change game versions/updates. Even ARK asa has mod support now.

Should be a choice. One crafter is fine by me, sick of having 8 thralls for cauldrons but I don't want them walking around.
Have mixed thoughts with pvp. Can imagine it would be fun to kill other peoples crafter thralls lol. But for small bases or moving bases these placed crafter thralls are annoying.

Save money and buy a pc like everyone else. Plug it to the tv at start, works just fine. then upgrade over time .. buy a previous series GPU to start with and you have entire youtube teaching you how to chose and build a PC.

meh. I have things disappear all of the time with this new installment of the game but that was a day one bug. it's nothing new. you can deal with it and keep playing or leave like most did already. teh best thuing they could have done is make crafters phantom. that would stop, them getting attacked, running into walls. getting stop when a fighter stands there ect. Its and easty fix, and not hard at al hbut. really dont care. I'll still play this until it pisses me off too much tol go play something else. there's over a million games out there so go play one of them instead

Oh no as a PvE player this is also a bad change I assure you. A big part of our game is new players coming and going and that gives us reason to keep playing. Just helping people get into the game, setting them up as they need or want and just being there for them with excess stuff. With this change that cuts our need to stay down significantly.
Though one thing I noticed is how many complaints came from PvP and I just thought... "You are playing PvP. You signed up to be miserable and have people do things against you. People use exploits and any other mechanic they can to get the edge over other players all the time. I don't know why they are complaining so much. I don't play PvP because I recognize that is going to happen." Though yeah it's a bad change for the game as a whole. I pointed both the PvE and PvP side of things out and I said I think a lot of people to miss how it actually hurts the game. Either that or they won't care.
I suck at survival games and that's why I like Conan. It was that game back in the day that was easy enough for me to finally get the grasp of one. I got the game in alpha so I was able to grow with the game. I like the concept and the idea of surviving against the world. Ark was just too hard for me, 7D2D was just too clunky for me and I have played others. Though I never sat there and complained that things needed to change. Which is actually why I kind of find it hilarious that the PvP community did so much about things not being balanced and now my thralls because of them with no need of PvP balance can't fully use a war axe.
Though yeah this update is bad. I'm also against the fully voice acted companions because we are going to lose thrall diversity over time. We are going to lose the ability to give people good thralls. The update as a whole is just terrible. I think this update being terrible is one thing both the PvE and PvP community can stand united on.
Thralls needed a nerf but not a nerf into the dirt. On a pvp server they are pretty much useless, even bearer thralls. Pets don't ever stand a chance even in pve mob fights.
Yes I play pvp only and that's where I will always reside but these changes also hurt the pve community as well and I appreciate you taking the time to share your opinions. It's nice to hear even pve players are upset about the changes. Not all of course but some.
