About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

Noel Gallagher: "If there was one song from Blur that I could make my own, I would pick Beetlebum. That song could have been written by The Beatles, that's how good it is!"
I hope this is an actual Noel Gallagher quote... considering how condescending him and Liam usually are, it is quite refreshing to hear him say something nice for once! They should do so more often!
@@thomascraymer8712 I saw the video of him saying it himself in an interview, before AI became widespread so no deepfake.
They have their moments of "lucidity". TO be honest, I have a feeling that half of the tmes they were just being arrogant and stuff for the laughs. For the other half, they were just being themselves.

Always loved Alex James‘ bass playing. Hugely underrated musician.
I just learned the bassline, and yeah, he's so underrated. Girls and Boys is so groovy only because of the bassline, without it it's half-finished. Beetlebum's chorus is everything with the way Alex can make something beautiful rhythmically and melodically

Something about the end of this music video feels so timeless. How he stands at the window as the camera shows the surrounding grungy 90's environment around them. It's almost like the video steps through your screen.
They just censored his cigarette. The cigarette that everyone knows is a cigarette.
I'm pretty sure it was a joint

I just started listening to this song today and Blur a couple of days ago. I’ve known about them for a while and decided to give them a listen. This song… man… it has a weird affect on me. It gives me this sort of nostalgia for some reason, and I don’t know why. I’ve listened to it at least 4 or 5 times today, and I cried the 4th time. It makes me sad… yet happy. The song is just so amazing and then Damon and his incredible dreaminess just tops it all off. And Graham’s incredible guitar playing…and the “oooooOOooooooo” part. Don’t even get me started on the ending… thats everything for me . Maybe its that Damon kinda sounds and looks really sad in this video to me. I don’t know. The song makes me feel as if missing someone or something and its to late to go back it cause its all gone… its really really weird and sad and happy in a way and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! @ I will not argue with regards to the comment section but in terms of the band, they play very well but what they're doing musically had been done before a million times. only works if they edited it all on film. many videos might have been shot on film, but edited on tape. and the quality is stuck at what tape is. for example, whams last cristmas video. some shots were on a tape camera and you can def tell a quality limitation. but yes, i would love to see many more videos re-scanned at 4k..
