About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

I always loved this song and wish it had gone further here in the 'states. It has kind of a Beatles vibe and the chord changes remind me of a number of songs from the mid to late 1960s, particularly, Zoot Money's "Big Time Operator", which also slipped through the cracks in the USA.

"He's got morning glory, life's a different story" Damon poking a bit of fun as Oasis I love it.
+Alexa Drake interestingly enough, this song was written long before Oasis started work on that album. So perhaps Oasis nicked it from Blur, which wouldn't surprise me.
+InRainbows1 I'm not sure about this. "Country House" was against "Roll With it" in the Clash between them. And Roll With It is from (What's the story) Morning Glory. No it wasn't written Loooong ago before Country House, am I wrong? :)

"blow me out I am so sad I don't know why..." always gives me chills!
one of the greatest things about this song is that on the outside it seems so sunny and carefree but on the inside it actually has some really dark undertones...
It really does, about how we're medicated, zombified through life, striving for something that'll never be
Exactly! That's Blur for ya :'D
I know, I cannot listen to it too often… makes me sad!
Who else thinks the lyrics "He's got mourning glory, but that's a different story" is a dig at Oasis?
Nobody as it's actually "Life's a different story."
its not life's a different story.
It actually is, listen closely.

I like how they called this "pop" music when it came out....compared to todays pop music this is artistic goodness!
Compared to today's pop this is hard rock
pop is just popular music.
Your parents said that about blur 20 years ago. It's just a product of your age mate
Not all pop is rubbish. This is an example of how simple and awesome pop music can be.
the term "britpop" was supposed to be a cynical jab at pop and british music, like "this is what constitutes pop in tea-and-crumpets land"
I first listened to this song after starting my first job, and everytime I hear it it brings me back to some of the most changing times in my life
I remember when this came out. Loved the album then and still love it. Need music like this again.
This song is sooooooo 90's. Everytime I listening to it reminds me of those times.
Bcs it is from the 90s
Oh lolly I WONDER WHY
I cant understand why the whole Blur vs Oasis is still going on 20 years later. In hindsight both bands were amazing and infinitely better than all the shit thats on the radio nowadays.
yup
You are right all this Oasis vs Blur is motherfucking bullshit 😡😡😡😡😡😡
Kaben Yeah but Blur were better, they had a much better range musically and Graham Coxon must be the most underrated guitarist of our generation! I do love Oasis though!
Yeah we were being spoiled and didn't even know it.2 great bands Oasis being the better mind u lol
This man......... he speaks the truth
i'm still listening to their song til now.. they got sentimental value..
I did an apprenticeship in the 90s and half the blokes in the hanger would be singing this all day long. 🙂🇦🇺
I was a hardcore Oasis fan and will always love them cuz they got me into rock. But growing up I came to understand & appreciate the fact that Blur's artistic creativity, music quality and maturity exceeds that of Oasis by miles. Oasis were innit for money ever since BHN, but Blur were always honest (almost). I'm from India.
