Hi! Great information sir! I'm recently subscribed and I was wondering, if there is one this year, do you normally go to the Fred Hall Show at Long Beach?

We used to, but I made decision to go a different direction about five years ago. I took the funds we used to spend participating in the show directly to price markdowns at our shop for a rather special sales event we hold at the time of the show. From what I understand, there will be no more Fred Hall Shows, several reasons. Our sale will take place as we've done in recent past. Watch our website for information - March.

Theres no political basis on getting workers back sorry, stop blaming the edd. Companies that are known for treating and paying their employees well have no problem finding employees. Not saying these companies treat their employees badly, but there comes a point in time if you have a problem you might have to look inward at some point.

This is true, but what I am seeing in my trade is that fewer people are interested in physical labor. There is a shortage of candidates enrolling in the trade schools. I wouldn't say it's an issue with edd, it's an issue with how children are raised. We put a stigma on working physical trades, that pay very well. I am even guilty of this.

Not reality sir, you obviously have never owned a business or had responsibility for one, nor taken an economics course. When unemployment, with additional funding from fed govt offers more to stay home than to go to work there's a disincentive for working. Yes, a firm may have to offer a higher wage to attract workers, but the effect upon the bottom line also will result in fewer workers being hired and hours/benefits cut. A particular job may not contribute enough to the bottom line to afford the hire. Why do you think grocery stores, McDonalds...are going for automated machines instead of hourly workers??? Any company will try to retain valuable staff, they need the talent! But, for those at the bottom end of the wage scale, these are the folks that will pay a premium price - lost jobs - due to the government's redistribution or money creation (with result of inflation which negatively effects buying power for what's been earned in wages - that is in effect a drop in real wages and that's exactly what's now occurring in terms of inflation). Wages can rise to 15/hr or greater, but it means nothing if cost of living increases go up as a result of govt printing more "funny money." Watch the effects upon the economy now and in six months. Full effect of govt monetary policy aren't fully felt for a good 18 months time - again, some economic understanding goes a long way. Might want to read Milton Friedman's Monetary History of the United States, written in the 70's. Spells out exactly how govt created the great depression, inflation...over the course of history.

@@CharkBaitUSA I think you highlighted the point I was trying to make by mentioning mcdonalds and grocery . Both are known as terrible jobs. Offering “full time” as 6 hour shifts, 6 days a week, low pay etc. The majority of them cant retain employees for that reason. Rather than using the edd as a scapegoat it might be time to update your business model. Example of this is costco vs wal-mart.
