why not just shovel sand directly in the turbo while on rev limiter? SMH... i will never understand the wasting good engines culture they have going on. makes my heart bleed to see that most of these sand dune climb cars for example didnt even last 2 seconds because all the sand is going directly into the turbos. i hate this beyond measure.

@@CBMedia404 Same. We're (wife, 2 young kids, me) planning starting a more nomadic life in Thailand this summer, but there's still a lot of moving parts at play. A lot of other countries are like Thailand with the constantly changing rules, so we're just gonna float like plankton in the surf.

Used to go to the sand drags in the Pacific Northwest when I was a kid on the Columbia river. Never forgot those experiences.

Having pit crewed for a sand drags event here around 25 years ago, I know how insane Sand Drags can be.

We also raced sand, here in San Diego, Ca [ASRA] about 25 years ago alcohol funny car ran 3.0 av and thought that was fast this is a different level.
When we used to race top fuel at the sand drags in California it was a 1000 ft. track in 3.3 to 4 seconds.
Thats just crazy!! 4000hp and 60ft roosters tails!! That's what I'm talking about!

We had sand drags here in Oregon during the 70s @ Sandlake. There were top fuel funny cars with 4 huge paddle tires on them.
They took the event from us long ago.

Love Sand drag racing. Used to do it quite a bit along with mud Drag Racing. Most of the modified to open class mud drag racers run the same setup but with larger paddle tires including the wheelie bar. Nmro member from years ago.

Out of interest, does anyone have an idea on what the running cost is of that 4000hp machine. I can imagine rubber probably lasts a while on the sand but the wet costs (fuel, oil, nitrous etc) must be crazy high?
It's probably about the same as running a similar powered drag car in the states. Same motors, trans, chassis and so on.

Petroleum products are probably dirt cheap over there I would assume.
