Thanks for the great tip, Garden Ninja. 👍 Just used a weed burner for the first time, to kill the many ones sprouting between our back garden paving slabs - great fun! Much better than crawling around with a bottle of weedkiller all summer. We are not the best gardeners but nice to have tidy paving that doesn't distract from the plant containers.
I would have liked to see an "after" shot of the weeds treated with the burner.
Thanks. Mr style ain't it.
Nona Ubiz you are extremely rude. What does it matter how he chooses to look - it's his choice. He might think you look stupid - each to his own. He's trying to offer people a way to remove weeds from their gardens not push his choice of hair style or way of dressing on anyone. For others who have made unkind of unnecessary remarks what has his sexuality got to do with weeding with a weed burner? People are so judgemental and it makes my blood boil. Live and let live - he's not adversely affecting any of your lives. The fact that he loves his dog makes him a good guy in my eyes - which is more than can be said of you lot. 😡
Yeah it’s like really?! You’re choosing a guide on weed control for your hatred??!! 😂
@@Gardenninja They don't chose it, its just there all the time regardless.
I think I need the flamethrower version of your weed burner. My weeds are way more insane
Maybe to get them under control a flame thrower would be best! 😂🤘
Well said barnsgold,I fail to see what a hairstyle or a lifestyle has to do with anything in this video, this world need a giant weed burner to remove all of the hateful lowlifes from it!
Thank you . Can I ask, with big tall weeds, do i need to burn the whole weed or is it enough to burn just the base or just the top?
I am in love with Barry. I've seen your videos with him as a full grown dog but this one, when he was a puppy, absolutely warms my heart. Love your videos, Lee. :-)
Thanks so much Lisa. Is so cute to look back and see him as a pup again! Really glad you enjoy my video guides. I do work hard to keep up the content to help gardeners succeed! Happy gardening. Lee 🥷🌿🥰
@@Gardenninja you inspire me every day. I’m in Seattle, zone 8b so a lot of your advice applies here. Thanks for what you do and your positive attitude. 😘
Ooooh thanks Lisa! What a lovely reply. I hope life’s well in Seattle. I’ve always wanted to visit. Probably from my Nirvana teens!! Thanks for the support. 🥷🤘🥰
Love this-the down-to-earth comment about messing with vinegar & salt, done that kinda worked but not well. Now got my gas burner!
You’ll never look back! (Well unless you smell burning behind you!) It’s a great tool and really cathartic to use (properly and with care) 😊
@@Gardenninja Need to wait-raining here near Bordeaux.
Brilliant! I’ve struggled with weeds in my back garden an to have pet; I have a weed burner but never really knew how to use it. So thanks very informative.
You’re welcome! Glad the guide has been helpful. Make sure you subscribe for more guides. Happy gardening.
Thanks for this! This seems a great alternative to all the other methods you mentioned, all of which I have tried with little success! I like this method as it won't hurt the pets in my neighborhood!
It’s really cathartic too! I use it on all my path way broadleaf weeds. Just once every few weeks and it’s weed free!! Happy Gardening!
Much appreciation to you, Garden Ninja LTD! I have never even heard of a weed burner until now! I imagine great caution has to be exercised so as to not ignite dried grass or twigs or leaves & such, but I can see where such a device is a blessed gift to those who are battling against a very challenging weed growth! Thanks again!
By the way, what is the name of your weed burner & where can it be purchased? I don't really want the ones relying on large propane tanks like I've seen since your video. Thanks, Garden Ninja Ltd, in advance! 👍
Hey Fiery, Yes you do need to use common sense amongst dried grass or other flamables. I use mine along on paths and other hard landscaping. It's really quick. No bending over or fuss. Little and often works well to keep those weeds at bay. Eventually even stubborn weeds will give up. Happy Gardening!
Thanks for your reply, @@Gardenninja! What exactly is the sort & brand of the weed burner you featured in this video? Thanks.
I’m not sure of the brand. Think it was a none brand I bought it online. There’s loads of fancier ones but all you need is one like this. Others with coloured handles and bits and bobs don’t make them any better. They should be lightweight. 😀👍
Yes, I agree, @@Gardenninja. The "fancier ones" with the hefty gas cylinder to lug around is not my preference.
Thanks for the information! 😀👍
Hello! I’m always vowing to become a better, more patient gardener but honestly, I find most gardening videos sooooooo tedious. I’ve just discovered your channel and don’t ask me why...but I could listen to you all day which will no doubt go a long way towards educating me in spite of myself! Also love Barry! Cheers from the Pocono mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania!
Hi Barbara. What a great comment to receive! Gardening can be such an amazing activity not only to help Mother Nature our but also your own mental well being. I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos and bet your gardens going to start to start to call out to you now!! There’s plenty more guides to come. Happy gardening! Lee
Thanks for the video, really clear explanation. I'm a complete novice, but the burner sounds very effective (and fun!)
edMenac you’re welcome I hope it helps in your journey towards becoming awesome gardener! 😀
Using a torch to remove weeds may be a reasonable approach in some areas and I certainly understand the concern for our environment. I do wonder how many healthy roots remain after treatment, though.
My adjacent neighbor used a torch like this on the entire perimeter of that yard. This created a large volume of toxic smoke. The thick smoke polluted the entire neighborhood and even entered our house, so I spoke with the owner.
Burning materials outdoors with an open flame is against the fire code here. Yet the owner did not agree to stop using the torch, even after reading the fire code, so I summoned the fire department to enforce it. Thankfully, the issue was resolved and hasn’t come up since.
So funny, I bought one this morning... stood forever waiting for it to burn to a crisp... tried a couple more different weeds then gave up... thinking I'd need a canister for a couple of weeds😳😱😂 tomorrow I'll zap them for a couple of seconds🥳thanks Lee🍃😊
Hahaha no worries. They’re missold as weed burners. When really it should be better explained as ‘weed disrupters!’ Not as sexy though. Good luck with your weeding! Lee 🥷🌿
@@Gardenninja 😄indeed 🥳thanks ever so much Lee for taking the time to explain🤗🌷🍃
A cautionary tale!
I've just discovered your channel so I'm a bit late to the comments section, and someone else has possibly already warned about this, but anyway... here's my nightmare experience using a weedburner, and a millisecond of inattention:
I was using a weedburner on a footpath, in January. First reasonably dry day in weeks, so everything was wet, but the weeds in the path were dry enough to zap.
When it actually happened I didn't notice it, but a sudden gust of wind must have blown a tiny spark up into a 40 yr old, tightly trimmed, 3 metre high conifer hedge. The outside of the hedge was wet, but it soon became clear that a few centimetres in from the tightly trimmed exterior, it was dry as a tinder box.
The first thing I noticed was a burning smell completely different to the smell of the burned weeds. And then a tiny plume of white smoke coming from inside the hedge.
Then everything happened VERY quickly.
Within 2 minutes the hedge was properly ON FIRE 🔥, flames 5 metres high and advancing along the hedge towards the house!
Fire extinguishers and hosepipes were useless, so I had to call the fire brigade.
Luckily they arrived in 5 minutes and put out the fire just before it reached the house!
So.... it sounds obvious, but in a moment of inattention, these weedburners are capable of doing some serious damage! Never use a weed burner anywhere near a hedge, and avoid days with even a light wind. 🤓
Yes! Always use caution with wind drift and surrounding plants or structures that can catch fire. People underestimate the wind direction so be careful gardeners! 🥷🤘🌿
Hi Garden Ninja. Great to learn about a chemical free alternative to killing weeds. Is it best to use the burner on a dry day? Or, can I use it during the winter when it is a bit damp?
C you want to do this on a dry day or you’ll just end up burning loads of fuel and probably not kill the weeds effectively. It’s really satisfying! Always be safe though. Ie don’t go burning weeds when it’s mega hot in a drought in a field of dried corn!! 😜👌
Thank you Mr Garden Ninja, bought some rosate 360, haven't used it yet, as I've two dogs and a cat, and haven't felt confident using it because of them, so was looking for a pet friendly alternative. Now I've found it!! So many, many thanks. And your poochy puppy Barry, you have there, is a real cutie pie too! 👍😊
Hehe thanks Chucklevision. Glad the guides useful for you. Yes it’s hard to have complete faith in any manufactured chemical sprays isn’t it. Always better with a natural alternatives. Better still just pulling them out but understand that can be a bit of a effort!! Barry says hi! Happy Gardening. Lee
@@Gardenninja Lol, Lol, I would pull them out, however it would take an age to do so, & from past experience, sometimes I've ended up pulling out the top section only, leaving the roots!! Lol. The weed wand, looks like my kinda simple yet effective tool to use. Going to order one today. Many thanks again. Hope Barry, (now fully grown) has kept you company through this "Lockdown Madness". My three have certainly been keeping me on my toes, being naughty, every now and then, as pooches/cats so often are! 😂 Keep posting your videos!
Many thanks, love the video, you, Garden Ninja, puppy and all. You make it look like fun and I'm going to try this method now on my allotment. In summer I cannot dig up tap roots from my baked-in brick-like heavy clay soil. Slicing the tops off with a thin spade requires a lot of back bending and physical effort, and your way I will enjoy zapping the persistent blighters. Hope the lovely border terrier puppy has grown into a healthy dog.
Hi Vince Turner I far easier than breaking your back bending over and quite cathartic. Barry’s now 3 he’s still as cute but a bit bigger!! Hehe. You can see him on my latest garden tour here. ua-cam.com/video/xHWb0-hnzR8/v-deo.html Happy Gardening! Lee
I'll have to get weed burner. I'm fed up with chemical sprays. Good video too. :)
My boyfriend pours straight vinegar on my walkway on a hot 90 degree day in Tennessee in the morning, let it sit for 24 hours in the hot sun, then the next day in the evening he would take a grill lighter and burn the weeds in between the cracks, then use waterhose to drown the walkway. It was so fast & he did this in a matter of 10 minutes. Has to be done every two weeks, but it looks clean and amazing. Dirt cheap too!
Cheers mate - you've got a great channel! Have just bought myself a weed wand from ebay - never even knew they existed. Thanks and look forward to seeing the rest of your vids. Big pats to Barry the pup :-)
Peaspeculiars thanks mate! Glad it’s useful for you. Barry’s a bit bigger now. He’s about to have his first birthday. He was helping plant pleached trees last week on my channel. By help I mean running round chasing birds. All the best with your weed burning! Lee
Have you continued to use it? Any good?
@In-Justice Hey, yes - works a treat - just have to make sure that nothing flammable is around (and dogs & cats) It doesn't damage the block paving in my experience - (give them a quick scrub afterwards and aim for the weed itself). Just be careful where you store any spare canisters (eg. not in the house or near heat/ kids/ rats/ sun etc - probs best to just buy a new one as and when you need from a DIY store) :-)
Awwwww the super cute pup!
I have bought one from Aldi recently and will let you know how it goes. Thanks for a great tip!
Hey Mudboy! Aldi's isle of temptation strikes again!! They have great garden tools. I always end up spending a fortune in there and stuff I didnt realise I simply must have in my life. Hope the weed wand works for you, do let me know! (Hope you managed to dodge the other garden related goodies) ;-) Lee
Well I did end up with some more weeding gloves, but then I get through them pretty fast so never an unused item!

This does not keep them away for long, my garden looked like apocolypse now and they still came back.
Lovely idea. Will it work on a lawn as well , as my lawned garden is full of weeds and I am not physically able to get down on my knees and pull them all out. Garden is fairly large.
Yes if they’re broadleaf weeds should be fine. You may inadvertently damage the grass so do be careful. Also make sure to do it on a damp day and not in baking midday sun when everything dry!! Good luck!
Hi Garden Ninja, I was wondering what you thought about a weed burner in regard to the root of the weeds! For example, wouldbindweed and marestailjust keep coming back? Thanks, Anne
Hi Anne. All we are doing with the burner is exhausting the weeds. Some will die straight away. Others like marestail will take several applications with the burner but will eventually give up. Far better than than to keep spraying chemicals onto them in my opinion! Hope that helps. All the best. Lee

Hi Lee where did you buy the weed burner from . Had a look on Amazon. There are a number that appear very similar but have poor reviews. Which one do you recommend ? Thanks
What about the roots? I guess they will be back in a couple of weeks with this method.
Do you leave the gas tank attached to the weed burner when done or do you take it off, and how do you store it...
Any safty instructions?
Hi Ben. You should detach it when you’re not using it and store it with other fuels. Happy gardening! Lee 🥷🌿👌
Thanks a bunch 😊
You’re welcome. 🌿🤘🥷
I do like the idea of this because it isn't putting anything nasty into your soil, and seems like the method that would least damage your soil ecology
Exactly! Got it in one. Soil is a living breathing organism so the least we do to disturb or change it with chemicals the better. You can read more on why soil needs to be cherished here! www.gardenninja.co.uk/what-type-of-soil-do-i-have/ 🥷🌿👍
did you try any of the infrared heat burners?
Hey, great video as far as the process on how to actually use the torch to kill the weeds. I just watched a few videos where they're absolutely charring and burning them to a crisp and was wondering if they had any clue at all. Haha.
Thanks.
Edit: Different species may be more resilient and need more thorough torching, I suppose, on second thought.
Hey Circle. Yes many people think frying them kills them. However it won’t. Damaging their cells so the root basically starved on deep rooted weeds is far more effective. It’s the same way glyphosate works in preventing uptake of water and food. So it does kill them. Just like weed killer you have to wait a few weeks though after blasting them! Happy Gardening. Lee
@@Gardenninja Please tell me , will it kill off the roots of couch grass in a stone pathway?? Thanks
Hey In Justice. It will kill couch grass but you’d need a few applications. Couch is a royal pain as it’s so tough. My advice would be to use a Hori Hori to try and weed out as much of the root as possible. Happy weeding! 🥷🌿🙌
Hi mate thanks for this, what’s the coverage like on this tool? I’ve got a 4m x 4m flower bed covered in weed and would like
To use it? Would
This be suitable and quick for this kind of coverage? Thanks
You’d certainly be able to give it all a once over with one can of gas. For that size though I think I’d just dig them out and start fresh. So you don’t damage any other plants in there. The weed burner is great for paths and spot treatments. I think for larger areas I’d follow this guide of mine. ua-cam.com/video/4WIDSCJ4o6M/v-deo.html Happy gardening! Lee 🥷🌿
Thanks for the video, it is both very entertaining and enlightening. And I am curious whether you can do the same with a blow torch? As the weed burners I can find around my area all require a heavy LPG cylinder.
neon1300 many thanks, you could do. The most important part is just to heat the leaves not completely incinerate them. So just pass the heat over the leaves until they turn a matt green. Hope that helps!
I am looking for how to get bind weed and ground elder out of grass and full borders - will this method work on them too?
Need to this every month I think because I have to pull them every 2 weeks keep growing
Vinegar has never worked for me... I will try these two methods... heard good things about weed burners, but didn’t know you could get a wand... I have only seen the big roller kind... but my yard is so huge, I’ve got a lot of area I’d be fine covering with plastic for six months... cute pup!
OfftoShambala Thanks. He’s pretty much fully grown now! The Wands are a great herbicide alternative and really easy to use. Fingers crossed it helps sort out your yard! Happy Gardening!
Should of shown 1 week later after using the burner but defo gonna get a weed burner 420 stay lit.
Love Barry the pup! Gunna get weed killing now... I have a Bergman electric weeder, hoping it will work to kill the grass growing through our stoned driveway, wish me luck!
Good luck Girl! May the weed burning gods be with you! ;-)
Garden Ninja Ltd ... Yeay! I raked the stones off & zapped the grass trying to grow, so satisfying! Now I’m just zapping it over the stones to see if that’ll be enough. I don’t mind having to do it yearly, you gotta do what you gotta do!

@@angelaohanian8036 Ahh great news fellow Border Terrier owner. Great choice in Garden dog! ;-) Have a great weekend and Barry licks back!

hi, does the burner get rid of dock plants ? cheers
My back garden is over run with mares tail! They get the upper hand every year because our climate is so wet so when i spray killer on them it rains so im always a few steps behind. I will try this burner method. Fingers crossed.

I have an area near my brick house that has river rocks in it (fist size rocks) and the weeds have started growing up through. Can I safely use the burner on the weeds in that rock bed?
If they are natural rock then yes of course! Good luck getting rid of your weeds the easy way. 😀
Love Barry the Border Terrier, he's adorable.
Isn’t he just!! 🥰🐶🥷🌿 He’s always with me in the garden!
Very helpful! I've ordered a torch and can't wait to use it!
Adorable! And the little puppy is kinda cute too! Serious question: love dogs, hate cats. Every time I prepare a bare patch of soil for sowing or planting, all of my neighbours cats, of which there at least 5, come into my garden at night to leave piles of their evil smelling excrement all over my neatly raked soil. Best way of solving this problem please?!?! I'm looking at you and that weed-burner and having very wicked thoughts.
Hi Boggled, Oh the dilemma with other neighbours pets eh. It's a tricky one. The best way to stop cats on newly cultivated soil, ie a new flower bed you've just dug over is to use canes and string. You basically need to make a matrix of string and cane, weaving the string around to prevent the cats from being able to squat. Gross, I know. You're making a web basically from the string tied around the canes. This is only a temporary measure until you plant it up. Then orange peel is also a deterrent. Failing that - get yourself a dog! Hehe Happy Gardening!
What a sensible suggestion! I'm using sticks and plastic netting stretched over. Orange peel keeps spiders away too doesn't it? Hate spiders almost as much as I hate cats. Let me know when Barry has puppies. I want one. It's very kind of you to reply.
Thank you lots! xxx
I’m not a spider fan inside the house. Outside they can have a party in my borders!! Let me know how you get on dodging the cat poo. Barry says hi!
Love ur puppy :) does this work on groundelder? I have loads of it and don't want to use weedkiller! Michelle
Michelle Jones thanks for the comment. Barry says hello! It will work on ground elder. You may need to give it a few goes every few weeks though with perennial weeds. Hope that helps!
Nice one buddy great. Just bought the same one, best to use it when its dry??
Hi Sam, It's best used when things are dry but be careful not to cause any fires in the surrounding areas if really dry. Hope that helps. Lee
Hey Garden Ninja I’ve got some clients who have a lot of weeds, I’ve bought the burner.
Is it ok on driveways and normal beds? Some of them were worried about a scorched earth / driveway end result
Cheers
Dan
Hi Daniel. Thanks for getting in touch. I wouldn’t think it would be a problem. Remember you’re not incinerating the weeds just damaging their cell structure with a blast. Again you shouldn’t be scorching earth or paving. It’s light touch. Just make your clients aware it won’t be instantaneous and may need a few blasts but it’s better than glyphosate! Happy gardening. Lee
Thank you very good I have maretail as well
Hi Jo. Marestail will take a good few applications. It will weaken it but not kill it off. It’s a real stubborn weed! 🥷🌿
Great video G ninja. Would you use this only on hard surfaces or could you use this on your garden lawn that has weeds and moss growing in it?
You can use it on a lawn or border with care. Don’t use it around dried leaves or dead plant matter which could cause a fire. I’ve used it on large flat perennial weeds in a lawn just be a bit more careful. Happy gardening.
Thanks! :-)
You’re welcome Jacqui. Happy Gardening. 😊
My firm uses what's called foam stream basically a giant kettle
Hi Lee , beautiful puppy.
I have got 2 quries. Is electric weed burner better than gas weed burner.
Will weed burner work for Japanese knotweed?
Your house is so beautiful.
Thanks so much! It’s a great place to live and work! 🥷🌿🤘
@@Gardenninja Thanks for that heart and I like your cute dog.
Barry!!! Garden Ninja, will the roots die too? ‘Die back’ is a term I hear a lot. Just wondering. Cheers.
Matthew Lissamore if you use the burner correctly you make it impossible for the weed to photosynthesise which weakens and will kill most weeds. Stubborn weeds with a tap root like dock - which store energy in that root- may need a number of applications of the burner to exhaust them. The weed burner is great for paths and the back of borders where it’s hard to get in to weed. Barry says hi! Hope that helps. Lee
Cool. Who would've thought...
Steamers work well too.
Hi garden ninja. Some qustions; does the weed burner destroy the roots or could this regrow a new weed? Also, does it leave scorch marks on paths and patios?
Hi Tom. It doesn’t fully destroy the root straight away but does stop the weed from growing and starving it of energy. After two or so applications the root will die back. It shouldn’t leave scorch marks. You shouldn’t be holding it that close it’s burning the floor. Obviously it depends on the paving or material you have. You’re not looking to incinerate the weed or set fire but damage the weeds ability to photosynthesise. Just one tool in keeping weeds at bay! Little and often. 👍😊
Nice video
Thanks! Make sure you subscribe for even more of my gardening guides. Happy gardening! Lee
Hey Lee I am going to be laying my black plastic today as I want to lay grass in the future. I just wondered if (when I remove the plastic) weeds will grow back?
Hi Paula. Not necessarily. However you may disturb seeds that then grow into weeds. Once it’s down pretty much leave it really! 🥷🌿🤘
@@Gardenninja great! thanks lee for your reply & much appreciated advice😃👍🏼
That looks good but would it work on brambles please? I've gotalarge patch of them under trees.Thanks.
Probably not. Brambles are vicious and tough. Find the crown. The chunk where all stems originate from. With a sharp spade cut that sucker out. That’s the best way to deal with them. Hope that helps. Lee
@@Gardenninja from previous bitter personal experience cutting the stalk at or just below ground level does not work. Digging out the roots to to a depth of around 4 feet does not work. Pouring petrol on them does not work. Roundup does not work. Constant cutting just vaguely keeps them under control until you stop doing it for a few days.
On an area you never want plants on, pour a large bag of rock salt a couple of inches thick all round the bramble and the general area (to get roots/suckers coming out sideways). I finally killed a fully mature bramble behind the garage that way (approx 10 ft high/wide), I cut it down to ground level first, then salted the ground and the stumps. Several years on, there's still no sign of that bramble, though I still have others. Don't use near edge of drive/path though, as precious plant/tree roots growing sideways under the drive could die too. On young brambles you can put a bottle over each stalk with the bottom cut out, and use a steam cleaner through the neck, and steam them. Quick blast to fill bottle with steam, then keep the hole shut until the steam clears, couple of hours later they've wilted, and next day they look dead and blackened. Waiting to see if they come back. Takes a while though, as you have to do each stalk and wait a minute or so each time. It doesn't work on bigger ones, only on the babies up to about 18 inches high. I intend to give the burner a go, I'm guessing if we keep burning them, so they can't get any light energy into the leaves, sooner or later it should work? I feel your pain... :)
@@jesshothersall it certainly is a battle with Horsetail. I use a hori hori on mine to dig out as much continuous root as possible. It does weaken the plant over time. Though it will take a good few years to rid yourself of it. Weedkillers are not effective as the waxy coating on the stems allows it to simply drip off. Great tips about brambles though! Happy Gardening! Lee
Jessica Hothersall was
So that's the beast!!! I've just found a new use for my rothenberger plumbers gas lamp!!! 😝👹
Hahaha exactly Marc! I've been experimenting with my weed burner for a few weeks back. Excellent piece of kit, especially with pets!
Then you can use it to light the BBQ after your done destroying weeds! Double win!
Awww Barry!
Nice little puppy...
Thanks! That’s Barry. 🐶
Hi Lee. How to you feel about about salt as a weed killer. I’m thinking about using table salt on my garden path.
Hi Lee. You can use salt. Not a problem. Just be careful of the runoff after rain into lawns or flower beds as it also will kill off plant or at best make them very sickly. Sometimes a hand weeder like the ones in this video are easier for paths that adjoin beds or lawn. ua-cam.com/video/4WIDSCJ4o6M/v-deo.html 🥷🌿👍
@@Gardenninja thanks Lee!!
Just found your channel after searching how to kill weeds.
Will weeds grow back because I'm thinking surely weeds grow anywhere, are they not likely to grow again regardless?
Thanks
Hi Andrew. The best way to sort weeds out is to remove them by their roots with a hand tool. Weed killers are sometimes only partially effective. Have a look at my detailed guide here to help explain in more detail. www.gardenninja.co.uk/how-to-weed-your-garden-organic-weed-removal-techniques/ Happy weeding! 🥷🌿👍
Thank you. Great video. But don’t you just burn off the top and the root comes back? Thank you!
Hi Kord. No. You’re not incinerating they foliage but damaging it so it can’t photosynthesise. Basically weakening and starving the weed or making food or growing. If you burn the too clean off the root will just send off a new shoot. Happy weed burning! 🥷🤘🌿 Lee
i have a paint stripper hot air gun. I wonder if it'll just work as good as using flames.
Yes! As I describe in the video it’s not the flame that will kill them. It’s the heat to destroy their cell wall. So just a blast of hot air or otherwise. Hope that helps. Lee
I wouldn't think either of these ways will kill the weeds at the roots. Ergo, they will show them down but they will eventually grow back, right?
Correct.
That's why you have to do a few applications. The bees and gay frogs will thankyou.
You can kill weeds ONLY with a blow torch if they are growing between stone slab. But you won’t be able to do that when they are in your lawn. I heard for lawn weeds you can use corn meal gluten in early spring and early fall to prevent them from starting to grow. Don’t know if that is true but lots of articles written about it online.
Great technique but use with caution.
I live in a fire prone region of Australia, where it would be reckless and even illegal to use, certain times of the year.
Great point Lindsay. Always be aware of the surroundings, weather and fire risk!! 🥷🤘🌿
Thanks Lee I know this is quite a bit older this video but who cares? It looks ilke good advice is timeless. I've struggled for years with my garden. I've lost a lot of people and am disabled. I've tried every strimmer which are either too heavy ro rubbish and snap every two seconds. I've had to return them. I had a petrol strimmer but my partner died two years ago and I never used it, bit nervous and he was stupidly dangerous. I refused to let him go near it when he'd go and he'd smoke.. So he passed away and I don't want to use it. Then I paid someone a couple of hundred pounds to do my garden and they ripped me off. So no luck. So i will get a burner then if the Paul sorry person who ripped me off comes around I'll toast his marshmallows.
Will the weed burner kill Chamberbitter weed? This weed has to be pulled up by the root..very invasive...it’s in my yard, flower beds, everywhere..I’m too old to pull it all out, so I’ll first try the bin liners and tent pegs...then the weed burner....thanks for the great tips...
Yes it will weaken and kill it over time. It’s all about using the weed burner to damage not incinerate the weed. Which has a similar effect to glyphosate as it interrupts its ability to transpire. Give. A blast every 3 or so weeks and it should do the trick! Happy Gardening. Lee
Haha!Well i have used the burner for a while, but grass just grows back after a while,so you have to repeat it every year!
I have that between the brickwall of my shed and the pavement of my street,I really cant get the roots out,so i used the burner, and i must repeat it.Those roots are so vigorous..
I've used brown cardboard covered with a thick layer of mulch.
The No Dig method. A clever alternative. Though brambles and docks still need digging out as they will make easy for of cardboard. www.gardenninja.co.uk/no-dig-gardening-for-beginners-charles-dowding-explains-to-garden-ninja/ 🥷🌿🤘
