  • Hello there fellow Pixwl Pushers. Following a query from a viewer I'll be showing you how to quickly create and apply multiple gradients to an image (or text or graphic or logo etc). This quick video tutorial will aim to introduce you to the concept and method but we will cover many more applications of multiple gradients in a variety of situations within Affinity Photo in future videos. Are you ready for the off...

Thanks but there is a problem here, when we put the second gradient it overlaps the first one, basically the first effect is now covered with the second one. How can I make a gradient to start from where the previous ends or slightly further, i want to have this pattern of dark to bright and then dark to bright in my photo. Thanks again 🙏

Hello there, and thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. The simple answer for your query would be to use masks for each gradient you apply. As each gradient will be on its own pixel layer just add a Mask to the layer you wish to control the gradient of. Then simply use the paint brush tool and 'paint' with a shade of grey (dark paint masks, light reveals). Try and let me know how you get on. If a quick video would help then I can load one up quickly.

@@SiddiqueHussain21 thank you for your reply… I tried but I’m a beginner and failed.. here is what I want to do… I have an image with a few hills one after another in the background, I want to reduce the exposure from bottom left of the image to the ridge of the closest hill and its ridges to be high exposure and more visible and then similar thing from that ridge to the ridges of the next hill behind it (low exposure to high) and then the same for the third hill and the rest of the image to the top right corner to be darkened… if you make a video that’s much appreciated… I am still struggling how it works and whether I need to do other things than just using a gradient tool!

Got that. I'll produce a video and post it in a day or so and give you an advance heads up.@@xbfotos

Perhaps another video would be missing explaining if each gradient can be masked so that it affects a particular area of the image.

That's a good idea. In short yes it can be done, in fact using Affinity you can add a mask for pretty much any layer. I'll do a video for this, watch out for it.
