Great review!! For people reading who are interested: I did 3 Min. Exposures with 85mm with pinpoint stars, even 10-30s exposures with 500mm (depending on the leverage arm on the nomad) all just by aligning with the Laser using the Cochab method. Usually it never ever slows me down. Love that thing.

Great review buddy! Cant wait to receive it and do some amazing stuff with it! The most what i like is that is so small, simple to use, and of course looks like tracking is pretty awesome! Wish you fast recovery💪
Good to see you again with a new video. Great review 👌! The Nomand is definitely going to be the next tracker next to my current MSM rotator. I'm very pleased with the products of this company. I can even get pin sharp stars on 120sec exposure time with the Samyang/Rokinon 135mm f2.0 on the MSM rotator. Keep up the good work my friend 👊. I salute you from Maastricht 🤗
Great review man. Really nice that you zoom in to some of the small details as well. They’re not really dealbreakers, but some minor inconveniences. I’m really considering to give this one a go because to the ease of use and the form factor, and this review really helped with that. Thanks!
Thanks for letting me know it was helpful Jens! I agree that the disadvantages I could find are merely small inconveniences... or in my case ussr error without reading the manual even 😄. If you're looking for something compact and easy to use, the Nomad is a really good choice in my opinion.
I got the nomad delivered last week and I'm waiting for a clear sky to test it out. The support team was really helpful with sending me a special new version that includes a 1/4th screw hole at the bottom so it can attach to my non arca Swiss tripod!
Nice review, I think you covered all the important points quite well :D I just leave the red adapter part on the laser all the time. And the red cover for the laser thread... I dont know where that is anymore :D
Great to get your opinion on this little tracker. Mine has just arrived but I am yet to use it...hopefully this weekend. I'll make sure I tighten the little lock screw 👍. I got the optional Vixen plate so I can use it with my Star Adventurer wedge - bit of a weight trade-off but also a cost saving.
Thanks for watching Greg! I'm sure you won't regret it! Saves so much weight and space! I can understand you saving a bit of money, re-using the SA wedge. Should also work brilliant. Looking forward a lot to your next Gascoyne adventure!
Excellent video Jerome! I just purchased the MSN Nomad a few weeks ago and I am looking forward to experiment more with it. Unfortunately I cannot use the laser where I live (Norway), so I also had to purchase an extra device to use the phone (and the polar alignment tool) for better alignment with Polaris. But I agree that the laser (used in Spain) works very well and it's as easy as 1-2-3. Thanks for the reminder with the little screw in the Nomad, I haven't tighten it yet, but I will. I hope the leg is improving, take care!
Great review, i knew i was working with a user error somewhere. Thanks for the tip with the V plate, looking forward to trying it when i get nautical twilight back in Norway in a few weeks 🤞🏻
Great video and very much in line with my experiences. Easy to align in the southern hemisphere just using an app on your phone. Hope your leg is on the mend.
Great to hear you're also enjoying the Nomad! I saw Richard Tatti demonstrating the app and phone for alignment in the Southern hemisphere. Looks easy enough also 👌.

Good substantiated review Jeroen! The tracker is very attractive to purchase for traveling and for easy polar alignment with the laser. I think this remains a problem with the Star Adventurer 2i, because you can't see the radical at all or only poorly in the dark.
Thanks Mark, glad it was informative! I like it a lot for its portability and indeed easy of setup. Doesn't the SA 2i come with a little add on and a red light to attach on the polar scope btw? I always use my headlight in another hand an shine a bit sideways on the front which also does the trick. Little hint: you can also put the laser against the SA scope and shine through it 😁. Msm even sell an add on that attaches to the SA that can hold the laser. Pretty neat.
@StarScaperPhoto There is a small red light to attach, but the light is too weak to illuminate the radical in the dark. I have read that many people have this problem with the 2i. I always use the red light as you describe. Just not optimal. Shining a laser through the scope would be easier haha
Great review about Nomad tracker. I usually use the ioptron skyguider and Nomad is an interesting alternative. May i ask you if it has a bubble for the right horizontal position.
Superb review, Jeroen. And love the b-roll inserts to keep it all visually interesting. Appreciate the heads-up on the funny little screw to tighten the v-plate - I’d been wondering what that was for! I’m hoping to get out with mine for the first time tomorrow night - the adventure I’ve got planned definitely requires a super-light tracker so it should be ideal. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and hope you’re still on the road to recovery. 🫡
Good review, with the most positive and the least positive. I also didn't use the Allen screw, it's easy to lose or forget the Allen key, I use a thick stainless steel pressure spring on the central screw, which prevents it from loosening on the Nomad and I also use a spring on the Skywatcher. So far I've only had the opportunity to use it for three nights. Nomad behaved very well, I used a 20mm and 50mm lens, I am 100% satisfied. In a few words to describe it, it is small in size but big in performance. Much nicer to carry when we go on vacation and when we have luggage weight problems. Thank you Jeroen. How is that leg???

Great review Jeroen. The Nomad looks very interesting but I already have the SW SAM which I like as it more versatile (you can adjust the speed of rotation) and is solid in itself - if a bit bigger than the Nomad. When you add the equatorial wedge and camera ball head it does start to become a bit ungainly and unbalanced looking (dependent on your latitude) and maybe you could do a future video demonstrating this point between the star trackers?? I have tried just using a Z and V plate combo, to some success, so the camera sits directly above the rotational axis of the star-tracker and thus better balanced. This also reduces the need for a ball head making your travel bag a bit lighter. However, I like the simplicity of the ball head!! Why not design the equatorial wedge and star tracker as a single piece unit to help further reduce its size?? Hope your leg is healing well so you can get out there again soon!!
Thanks for watching and putting up some interesting thoughts. I have not used it myself but the SAM looks like a capable tracker also. I like the V plate especially for pano's.
