During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the vehicle is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data, and build quality. Also, I will teach you how to use most of the interior and exterior features in a detailed fashion, that before, you could only get from going to a dealership yourself! Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion with rev and exhaust note with interior and exterior perspectives. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHANNEL SEE BELOW: In this channel you will find in depth educational videos of automobiles from all over the world, presented in a more detailed fashion than ever before. Basically, this gives the viewer the chance to view the most detailed 1st person look you can get without going to an actual dealer yourself! Every video is consistent in the way I present so viewers know what to expect in my presentations. I treat every vehicle with the same respect whether a 1960 Chevrolet Impala SS or the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador. I film all types of vehicles from past, present, and future while broadening the knowledge of the automotive enthusiast. You will see everything from vintage, brand new, exotic, mainstream, old, etc. I am very proud of this channel and have built it up from amateur videos years ago to what you see today. I wanted to share my love for the automotive world with the rest of the world. Be sure to explore the massive video variety, have fun and enjoy The Driver's Seat of UA-cam!

If only every 80s MR2 could be as clean as this one.
If only we could still buy these new from the factory.
lol my dads is
My family owns a clean one.
@@judge831if only they made a new model.
Mr Regular's head would explode, if he laid eyes on this beauty.
*this turns my penis into the big penis*
- (probably) Mr Regular
Crazy mr regular just got an aw11
@@alittleagitated4821 I thought he sold it
RegularCarReviews is going to shit himself when he sees how clean this MR2 is
***** Yes he will haha, this was a gem, sold a few hours after I filmed it.
So funny that he has one now!
Whoever took care of this car is a total legend of a person!
This was the car that made me a car enthusiast. First car I ever loved in the 80s
my god there are no words for how much I love this design.
Drive one. Hands down the funnest car I ever imagine I will drive. Go cart for the street
I've had 3, 2 NA's and 1 JDM supercharged import (into UK) was basically mint around 2000. I've driven a ton of cars since but still have a Supercharger MR2 MK1. The most fun, the best balance to performance/handling ratio in the most eye catching design ever made for such little cash. There are so few on the roads now I see more Lamborghinis around than this! And when you see one, a clean one, it stands out and everyone just stares, everyone loves the design (these days) no more 'hairdresser' insults as clearly this has passed over into classic car status.
The supercharged version + mods is VERY rapid too btw, I've kept up with Scooby WRX's in mine upto around 90mph (on a private road *ahem*) from the lights very little can take it, not even some fast bikes, it just puts down the power so well on the rear and shoots off... it was the fastest car to 30mp when it was released (the supercharged version and that wasn't even modded) faster even than the F-40 to 30! due to how it puts down traction and torque without over-doing it. Can't recall the last time anything overtook my SC mr2 (not even a Mk2 turbo) at anything like normal b-road/highway speeds, over 80mph bigger engine cars will take it of course but ALL the fun is in the 0-60 range anyway!
Dude, I love MR2! My first car was a mint 91 MR2 with Twin Cam turbo. Please give us more affordable sports cars Toyota!
they have answered your request finally! we’re living in the good ol toyota times again
Wow! Awesome video, Kyle! I just love these old Toyotas, especially the AW11 MR2. When I was kid, my dad owned both a Red 85 Corolla GT-S and to this day still owns his 86 MR2 in white! Sadly it had some transmission issues arise and has been sitting for years, but it's pretty low mileage and it has virtually no rust, a rarity indeed for a Japanese car from the 80s! Hopefully it'll be on the road again someday.
Alright, boring story over. Thanks for sharing, mane!
peculiarmadman Preciate that buddy!
Wait, is it the popping out of 5th problem? From what I've heard (thankfully my 1986 MR2 hasn't had it happen yet) it's pretty easy to fix.
I've owned a non super charged Mk1 in the UK since 99 and driven it seventy thousand miles and it's never ever let me down , always fired immediately and never missed a beat . The raspy engine just loves reves and sounds like a Moto GP bike in a metallic tunnel up behind me when I'm cooking it with the roof off , which I can't resist in the summer . I actually stay in the Philippines now but even in my most dissipated dissolute fun times there , nothing makes me smile more than that . Love it !
I've had two N/A and my current supercharger (+ mod = 190bhp and 0-60 in the 5 - 6 second range) very fast, very fun and still to me one of the best car designs of all time. It makes me smile too, I've driven posher, faster, higher priced, 'sexier' looking cars and none of them bring the smiles like the MR2.
@@quarkyzarky what mods?
i've had a few of these. i can't say enough good things about them. handled like a dream, and they were quick. i love these 1st generation MR2s. always will.
This has to be one of the coolest cars I've seen you review Saabkyle, thank you for sharing this! I probably never would have known about it if you hadn't reviewed it. I love these older sporty cars!
Nice to see you're staying true to your roots of reviewing EVERYTHING you can get your hands on! As much as I love seeing new AMGs and Lamborghinis and stuff, this is the type of thing I'm really interested in.
Yes! Finally, I have been waiting for the old mr2.
I test drove one back in the day. Amazing survivor. Thanks for the trip down memory lane Kyle.
One day I will own this exact car, along with a first-gen CRX.
GT6SuzukaTimeTrials keep dreaming
And don't forget the NA Miata
@@geraldbenitez8245 This mr2 is the miata's grandpappy
My first car. Absolutely amazing. Thanks for doing a video on one. Very nice example.
The MR2 has aged gracefully. I remember my older brother driving one back in the 90's. I miss that car.
I had a 1989 Supercharged MR2 and it was an amazing car! I wish i still had it but it blew a rod one day on the way to work and trying to replace the engine was out of the question. If you are even thinking about getting an MR2 don’t hesitate because they are loads of fun to drive.
I own one exactly like this and I’m always getting complimented on it. What an amazing car
Am I the only one that likes the older cars videos better?
Ariel Gofman This channel is about variety, new, old, exotic, affordable, classic, etc.
***** I like the other videos too :)
keep doing a good job!
I can't help but think of Regular Car Reviews while watching this.
Headlights go up, headlights go down
It's really nice to see the Kyle here continues to look back at the oldies, and at the same time looks at the newer vehicles
Do a review of a 1991-1995 mr2 turbo. I'm like these reviews. I'm learning a lot more about the car than the typical information in other reviews. Great work!
Thank you Kyle for reviewing this car.
This is one of toyota's great sportscars along with the AE86.
I really love this little car back in the 90's, brings a tear to my eyes someone has preserved it and looks so good till this day. Kudos to the owner and to Kyle for showing us this video.
Thanks for the review! It helped me decide on 89 SC last year and I am absolutely over the moon with my decision. Appreciate the share @Saabkyle04
Its so nice to see these old mint condition cars with insanely low miles :D
AHH I LOVE the sound of that toyota engine. Still starts BETTER than some of the NEW cars today 👌👌👌👌
This has got to be the cleanest MR2 SC I have seen in recent years!
Beautiful. This is one of my dream cars right here, a 88~89 MR2 with the supercharger.
Looks like this car just rolled off the assembly line. This car is beyond immaculate condition! How you find such immaculate examples, is beyond me, but great job, as always, Kyle.
The one I had/86 - had a factory built in sub woofer under the driver's seat, unwired but is a great feature if one puts in a new sound system. One of the very best cars I ever had
This was an amazing review! Very informative and extensive!
man i love the AW11 its so tiny but fast and just pure badass overall
Really happy to see you do an older car like, the early days :)
The classics. Great video Kyle! Keep it up.
Cool find! It's not everyday you see one of these! Especially in this good of condition.
There is something about the cars from the 80's and 90's that is awesome.
Great review, loved every second. Thank you my good sir!
Back when Toyota manufactured cars and not appliances like today.
They still manufacture cars. Have you never seen a modern toyota car before?
Wow. Slow much?
I just had a big stupid smile throughout the duration of this video
dude. get an upgrade and have a smart-smile
Starlight Official I will
Darude Her Right In The Sandstorm™ (how the heck do I follow up wit this?)
Starlight Official With the smart laugh?
Darude Her Right In The Sandstorm™ (uh huh)
That's the cleanest used MR2 I've seen in a long time. Very impressive.
That's a nice feature from switching what type of grade gas you use for either commuting to taking it for a speed drive
You're reviews are great!
Nicest original AW11 I've ever seen!! I'm the 2nd owner of an 87 AW11 myself with a Supercharged motor that I swapped in.
Wow, what a treat! This is a really cool review.
Man! I LOVE that body style!
I had a 1989 Supercharged MR2 with HKS headers, HKS pulley, Tokico shocks and springs, dp 18" wheels on BF Goodrich. It put out 170-175 BHP. A friend had similar set up but also had a piggy back turbo that put out 270 BHP... For its day, (before TRD) it was quick. 1/4 mile 11.5 secs.
If you can say these 4 words without getting tongue tied, you are a genius
1)Eye
2)Yam
3)Stew
4)Peed
*claps*
I see what you did there
well played...
I have been bamboozled.
Very funny
Absolutely iconic!!!👍😁
coolest car interior, i have ever seen
This review is very 80-90s American Auto-Magazine like. Like it. :p
Rene Hourian Glad to hear it bud, thanks!!
***** Why does this video have only 301 views? I thought you were popular lol
***** View counts stop at 301 momentarily while youtube catches up. Check back later.
***** No, actually I am.
***** Wow, you weren't lying!
I forgot about those ignition key release buttons. Thanks for the review Kyle.
hell yes, oldschool cars are back!
I love the interior, so retrofuturistic
Wow, that is so nice! I miss the older days.
How is this the first video I've seen of yours? Amazing work. Subscribed.
Really nicee video kyle
When i wake up check UA-cam and saw you upload, i directly click your vids!
Natanael Joshua Thanks so much!!!
My dad had a beautiful silver '87 MR2, bought new.. But he handed it down to me when I was too young to know how to build a project car and I ended up with a half finished engine swap (4A-GE to JDM 4A-GZE). The week I moved for college, I took it to a mechanic my friend vouched for to finish the swap. I paid to have the engine rebuilt, and he sent me pictures of the finished product (or maybe somebody else's engine...) and then closed his business, vanished from town, left the car in front of some werehouse somewhere, and the car was impounded. By the time I was notified of the impound, the price was too much for me to swing and I found out via tracking the VIN that it was crushed. My dad has never forgiven me for it really, and if I bought another one I'd be disowned. Still love them though....
I saw the cleanest unmolested 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX the other day. Kyle you should try to review a 1st gen Eclipse someday.
Tim Beck That would be amazing if I could!
I'd love to have this
You have the best car reviews on UA-cam! You should get your own carshow for the new cars coming out every year. But, I do like when you review the icons. Have you ever done a 69' Camaro SS? That's my fav of all time.
Best car reviewer on youtube!
That car is in amazing shape.
I never seen a MK1 MR2 that clean before !
Makes me miss my 1MZ V6 swapped MKI. Such fun little cars.
Awesome review! And awesome car!!!
One of my dream cars.
Astonishing condition for a car of that age. It looks like it rolled off the assembly line! Wow!
Really nice car in a super condition!
Thanks for the review very interesting car
"Mister Two"! As they used to call it in Car And Driver and Motor Trend back in the 80's lol! Younger guys hating but one of the many little fun cars you could buy back then without spending Ferrari/Lambo/Jag/Alfa/Benz/Lotus money! Thanks for posting, loving your good work, def entertaining and car educational! Happy Holidays to you and your family Kyle!
Lovejazz01 Thank you so much, same to you!
Mister 2? Cannot unhear.
Very cool I've always liked the MR2 especially the early 90's model
wow thank you, very informative ! I didn't know the 4A-GZE is actually forged from factory
I love it! Such a cool little car. And you can find them, relatively inexpensive
damnit cosmo motors always gets the beststuff
so stunning!!
Hi Kyle thanks a lot as always man.
Thank you for doing this car. :)
Never knew about the reg/premium switch. Neat feature.
Great vid!
One of my all time favorite cars. The late 80’s and early 90’s are absolutely the golden era of Toyota sports cars and build quality. If this car had the original teardrop alloys it would be a showstopper. Prices are beginning to skyrocket for SC MR2’s in this condition. In its day no production car could accelerate quicker to 30 mph than an SC automatic MR2. The 5-speed was always the one to have for a drivers car stand point. Ditch those horrible aftermarket wheels and replace with OEM wheels and enjoy this JDM legend to the fullest. Cheers!
My Dreams Car, i love that car design
Nice car !! And nice video!!!!!
I love how he said Mister 2 at the end.
YouDontWannaFightMe Said it during the video too, it's a nickname it's commonly called.
Oh man, that's a clean car. Rare too!
What a timeless machine. :)
Such a beauty. Sadly almost no left in good condition around here. I ended up getting a celica, ST204. Which a while back sadly died.
I love this car and my 88 Fiero GT with 22k miles. I was stunned the video ended abruptly. Thought you would at least take it out for a test drive. :(
I currently have a 1989 Supercharged MR2 in white with a 5-speed manual. I loved watching this video. Mine too is in excellent condition although I do enjoy driving it more as it has 142k miles. Still the original paint and interior though and I get asked if I would sell it all the time! If I saw this car for sale I would have bought it and had 2 Supercharged MR2's! I first bought a black 1988 model exactly like this one except it had the black leather interior too. Sadly it was stolen after I owned it for 6 months and it was never recovered.
im planning to put all my work money on it but i dont know from where to buy it though..if you have any tips that wouldnt be perfect
My neighbour has a red one I've always loved it
Nice, I had an 89 back in the day
Very nice review sir! Better than Toyota’s promo when it was new.
I had an '86 AW11 NA (no SC models in Europe), great fun. Prices are getting silly, better to save for a Lotus Elise now. Though the ZZW30 should be enjoyable too. But this AW11 is a very clean example, wow.
Hey Kyle , great review as always, can you make a review of the AMG GT and any of SRT HELLCATS?
Happy holidays, all the best for you!
someone is aspiring to be the next motor week host. :)
lol my mom had a silver one back then, used to love the headlights as a kid
amazing , i drove one at 18 (now 42) .. Had a bunch of a cars since, eventually ill stumble on an mr2 and get one. Funny part is I dont like any of the models after the gen1
nice car. looks like a good base.
I would love to see more classic 80's and 90's cars! (even older), the new 2015 cars are just all the same.... the old ones are really nice!
These were/are very neat little cars. By today's standards they aren't all that fast but in the late 80s, early 90s these things had some get up & go. Not to mention, they handled well, were reliable & weren't all that expensive. I had an 81 Camaro back then & I was all hurt when an MR2 left me in the dust.
I want it now !!!
Hey Kyle this is a great review of a great car :)
It would be really nice if you would review the Toyota Gt86 that is also a really nice car :D
